London To Paris By Eurostar Train

Great Britain may not be included in the Eurail Pass, but it’s a popular starting point for European rail trips. After a few days exploring London, what’s the best way to get to the continent to start your rail adventure? The train of course! You could fly or take a ferry. But the high-speed Eurostar from London to Paris is the quickest, most convenient, and environmentally friendly way to start your trip. In just over 2 hours you can travel from the center of London to the center of Paris on a comfortable train via the Channel Tunnel.

Departing from London The Eurostar train leaves from London St Pancras International station approximately every hour during the day. To reach St Pancras International you can take the London Underground to King’s Cross St Pancras station.

St Pancras International is a beautiful station dating from 1868 with an ornate Victorian Gothic facade and spectacular glass and steel train shed arch spanning 240 feet wide and 100 feet high. The station was renovated and there are plenty of attractions to pass the time before your train leaves. These include stylish restaurants, cafes, shops, free WiFi, and even a public piano.

Taking the Eurostar from London to Paris You need to check in for your train at least 45 minutes before departure. Scan the barcode on your e-ticket at the ticket gate.

The Eurostar from London to Paris takes just 2 hours 15 minutes. Only 20 minutes of the trip is spent in the Channel Tunnel. The rest of the time the train speeds through the green countryside and farmland dotted with villages of Kent in south-east England and northern France.

Even in standard class Eurostar seats are comfortable and carriages are air conditioned. There are two snack bars on the Eurostar. If you travel Premier class a complimentary meal is included.

Arriving in Paris on the Eurostar The Eurostar arrives at Paris Gare du Nord station – another stunning historic station. From there you can take a metro, bus, or taxi to your destination. Gare du Nord is just a 10-minute walk from Gare de L’Est where many trains depart to destinations across Europe. You can also take travel on the Eurostar route from London directly to Disneyland Paris!

If your Eurail Pass is valid in France, you’re covered for travel on the Eurostar – you’ll just have to reserve a seat. Reservations start from 30 euros in Standard (2nd class) and 38 euros in Standard Premier (1st class).
