Setting goals with your children is essential to establishing routines that lead into children being able to take ownership of their progress. Set small goals to start off with. When children accomplish the small goals it builds confidence and self esteem and allows children to move into completing bigger goals.

Saw this in another post from @your_wiser_self and thought, ‘what a great question!’ What’s the best advice and/or metaphor you’ve heard from a mental health professional? This is mine “When someone else doubts your ability to do something, it is not a reflection of your limitations but a reflection of theirs.” My University councillor said this to me one day and it always stuck with me. I find I can apply it to so many situations. Not just when people doubt my abilities but also just when people don’t share my perspective. Just because it’s not something they can or want to do, does not make it something I shouldn’t do. J.
