"Kiriona", when she's all smug and comfy in the barracks: "Ummm ackshully, I'm not Gideon, I'm Crown Prince Kirionaahhh, The first lieutenant of the cohort and heir to the Emperorrrrr. >:3"
Gideon, reverting to the truth the instant Crux reminds her of her past: "I HATE YOU! I'M A PRINCESS NOW DID YOU KNOW THAT?!? IM BETTER THAN YOU!? LOOK AT EVERYTHING I ACHIEVED! LOOK AT EVERYTHING I AM!! ACKNOWLEDGE IT!!"
And then Crux just doesn't. He still sees her for what he saw her as before. Chattel, her body parts written off for the ninth house.
That's gotta crush her, to her very core. To the extremely fragile shell she's built around what's left of her battered sense of self.
I think Gideon built up this Kiriona shield as a coping mechanism for being abused throughout her entire childhood, only to lose her love and friend via sacrificing herself, only for said friend to reject her flesh and her end.
She's a corpse. She's literally not alive. She's a revenant, zombie shit. As the back of the first book alludes to, Gideon is sick of all this undead nonsense...
And that's exactly what she is now, undead nonsense.
Poor baby needs a reality check, some reassurance, and someone to please stitch up those fucking holes. I can't believe John didn't fix her fucking holes what the hell is wrong with him?

"The newly widowed Elizabeth (Woodville) was exceptionally vulnerable. Several of the trustees responsible for her jointure refused to hand over the manors that were meant to sustain her in her widowhood. Moreover, her brother-in-law, Edward Grey, had seized estates that her son Thomas should have inherited from his paternal grandfather, while her mother-in-law’s new young husband, Sir John Bourchier, had prevailed on Lady Ferrers to settle her principal properties on them jointly for life, ensuring that Thomas would have to wait far longer for this inheritance too. Rivers and Scales were pardoned in July 1461 and swiftly moved into the Yorkist establishment, which perhaps explains the success of the chancery suits Elizabeth launched to regain her jointure. Her son’s inheritance proved harder to recover. By 1463, Rivers was often in (Edward IV's) company and on his council, but Elizabeth needed someone with much stronger influence over the King. She turned to a distant kinsman, William, Lord Hastings, the King’s chamberlain. Hastings drove a very hard bargain for his aid but it was probably amid these negotiations that the King’s desire for Elizabeth was kindled."
— J.L. Laynesmith, "Elizabeth Woodville: the Knight's Widow", Later Plantagenet and Wars of the Roses Consorts: Power, Influence, and Dynasty
#historicwomendaily#elizabeth woodville#Elizabeth really had terrible in-laws#And these people weren't even the worst of them - that particular award goes to Richard of Gloucester#As complicated as her first widowhood sounds it was a breeze compared to the literal nightmare she went through during her second.#Honestly though: part me wonders what Elizabeth's first marriage was like because we know absolutely nothing about it.#The marriage itself is a blank slate but the fact that her husband's parents & siblings were so indifferent and uncooperative#to her - and their own kid-grandchildren?? - after he died indicates that his family may have been rather dysfunctional imo?#Certainly they (or most of them) don't seem to have cared about the wellbeing or dignity of his young and newly widowed wife which#doesn't exactly suggest closeness or support during the marriage itself from their end.#Elizabeth doesn't mention John Gray in her deathbed will either though she mentions Edward IV. She may have thought it was#'inappropriate' to mention her first husband beside her significantly higher-ranked second husband...but she DOES mention her son by#her first marriage - which would have drawn attention to it anyway - alongside her royal daughter so that's unlikely to have been a reason.#Maybe it was simply the passage of time? She and John had been married for very few years and she lived such a different life after that#So it's possible that her first marriage simply seemed very distant and faraway to her.#Alternatively it may have simply been undivided affection for Edward IV (her husband of 19 years who she married for love)#which fits well into the relatively personal nature of her will.#Of course we don't actually know anything about any of this and this is all pure wild speculation on my end...but I'm curious.#It's really a shame how little we actually know about Elizabeth's life - made worse by the very limited primary records of Edward IV's#reign and the fact that his chamber records don't survive. And it's even more frustrating that this is so rarely actually acknowledged#by historians. I'd argue we know far more about the life & interests of most other 'prominent' women of the Wars of the Roses#(sans the Neville sisters) than we do about Elizabeth Woodville.

Text me when you’re finished.
You sighed at the pop-up notification, contemplating whether to reply or let it collect dust.
Your relationship with Kento withered throughout the years. The differences between you two were akin to the final pieces of a jigsaw puzzle: in theory the pieces snug together perfectly, fitting into the curves of each other, yet in practice both pieces weren’t for each other; edges colliding instead of interlocking.
Kento pursued you — it was a known fact to anyone who’s made connections with him. He wasn’t embarrassed to deliver bouquets during your working hours, he never hesitated to make reservations for the table awarded with the best view, he was never ashamed to show his devotion towards you. Chivalry’s embedded into Kento. He’s the textbook definition of a gentleman, be it to strangers or friends. It’s one of his qualities that drew you into him.
Kento was yours, proudly, and you were his. The time spent with him left an imprint on you. He witnessed your highs and lows, he took everything from you and gave it back in abundance. A part of you believes that Kento tied his soul to yours, stealing a piece of your own when he left. It had to be — it’s the only plausible explanation.
It was a “mutual” breakup, both agreeing on co-parenting and scheduled visits. Even if you wanted to, you couldn’t colour Kento’s history with you black and build a new painting over it. There was a three-year-old boy tying you to him — not just in name, but in blood as well. He resembled his father in every way possible. He’s a respectful young lad, waving to passersby with a cheerful “hello!” wherever he goes. He was sociable — much more than Kento — it’s at least something he got from your side.
“Mommy, I want yogurt too.” Little Kento said, pointing at the iron man packaged yogurts in the chilled section.
“We’ll come back for it after mommy’s cleared her list, okay?” You reassure him, ruffling his hair.
You keep your eyes on the phone screen, extending a hand out to grab the closest bologna sausage. During the monthly restock you never leave your son home. Despite skyrocketing your bill with his unnecessary snacks, he helps keep your mind busy with constant chattering or ignoring his requests to be put down instead of sitting in the trolley.
Simply guiding a trolley through lanes and filling it with items costs you $500 — VAT excluded. Everytime you’re met with the consequences of not restocking until a month later you promise to never let it happen again. Deep down, you know it’s just a white lie to ease yourself.
Readjusting your handbag on your shoulder, you gather the handles of the plastic bags together, giving the lightest one to your son before you walk away from the cashier.
“Sweetie, come here,” you called out to him, halting your movements and placing all the bags down at your feet.
He listens without fail, copying what you did. However, standing still isn’t a child’s favourite thing. He fidgeted until he couldn’t — running in an oval shape around you to entertain himself while your fingers hovered over the screen, hesitating to press send.
Hey, we're finished. How long till you’re here?
Ten minutes. Wait at the front, I’ll be there soon.
Your eyebrows raised, you weren’t expecting Kento to reply within milliseconds. Shoving your phone into the back pocket, you bent down for the bags, lifting it up with an exhale. They’re heavy, but manageable.
“Let’s go, daddy’s coming.”
—
Kento’s used to picking you up after your errands. What he’s not used to is not being able to replace your name with a petname. It’s been 2 years yet his habit remains the same. You never corrected him, unsure of whether the action comforts you or not.
“Put him in the car seat, I’ll finish packing.” Kento says, swapping the bags from your hand to his. Due to the height of his vehicle, it’s a challenge for Little Kento to do it himself.
You obeyed, lifting the younger one into his carseat, securing the seatbelt before giving him a peck on both cheeks.
“Do you want anything before daddy closes the trunk?” You asked, tilting your head towards Kento’s position.
“No. I wanna watch Paw Patrol.” He indirectly demanded for your phone, even stretching his palm out for the device.
Sighing, you give in, switching YouTube to kids mode so he doesn’t accidentally stray far. Once Little Kento’s comfortable, you seat yourself in the front, immediately pulling the sun visor down from the windshield to do a quick check in the mirror attached.
Compared to when your son’s absent, the drive to yours isn’t silent. In terms of talking, no one’s talking but the radio and silence from you and Kento is overshadowed by a Paw Patrol marathon booming at max volume. It’s not awkward — you’ve spent years with Kento, but you also don’t feel like engaging in meaningless chitchats after a grocery run.
The only time you do talk with Kento is after you’ve settled in and packed the groceries where they belonged. Kento offered his assistance but you refused, urging him to check on Little Kento instead. Somewhere along the drive back he fell asleep, the Paw Patrol marathon being used as background noise to lull him to sleep.
“Finished already?” Kento questions, softly closing the door to the boy's room and planning his steps to stand beside you.
“Mhm,” you nod, stretching your arms upwards to relieve tension.
He remains silent, soaking in your physical appearance instead. Your eyebags are what his eyes remain on — the most obvious sign of exhaustion. You can’t lie your way out.
“You should get some rest.” He suggests.
“I don’t want to sleep yet.”
Kento deadpans. You’re denying the easiest way to get your energy back. Although you’ve both grown, you kept your old habits — something he’s secretly thankful for.
“Want me to help?” He offers his services, making eye contact with you.
Your mind runs into the past, remembering how Kento usually dealt with your stubbornness. You want to deny it, arguing that a shower would rejuvenate you, but an agreement already slipped past your lips without thought.
Kento’s quick on his feet, muttering a “jump,” so he can wrap your legs around his waist. Your hands clasped behind his neck, head laying on the crook of his neck while your fingers played with his hair.
Your house is relatively new, yet he’s already familiar with the layout. The walk to your bedroom came naturally, and so did the locking of your room door. Kento gently sits you down on the edge of the bed, placing his hands on your shoulders to lightly massage them. Your head leans slightly to the side, a content sigh being your only vocal response.
“Can I take this off?” His hand lowers to the hem of your shirt, slipping his thumbs underneath.
You nod, raising your arms to allow smooth sailing. Once off, he navigates behind your back, undoing the hooks of your bra to remove it. Kento eyes your body, making a mental note of how your bare upper half looks. It’s been several months since you’ve last fucked, his memory got a bit hazy.
“Lay down, sweetheart.” He orders, removing his glasses from his face and placing them near your face-down phone on the bedside table.
You somewhat obeyed, leaning back but propping yourself up with your elbows. Your eyes tracked Kento’s movements, landing on his not-so-hidden bulge.
“Already?” You tease, surprised at how easily he gets excited with you.
He doesn’t bother responding, instead sliding the sleeves of his sweater above his elbow before he kneels down in front of your dangling legs. You keep your eyes on him, pressing your cheek against your shoulder. Kento’s hand parts your legs wide enough for him to shuffle in between. He works his hands around the waistband of your jeans, pulling them completely off along with your underwear.
A chill runs through your body. You’re completely bare while he’s fully clothed; not to mention, you’re already wet. You attempt to press your thighs together, but Kento’s body prevents it.
He lifts a finger to press it on your clit, dragging it down until he reaches your hole. Slowly, he pushes it in until it’s halfway covered. You clench around his finger, sighing at the loss when he pulls it away. Eyeing his finger, Kento watches it glisten under the light, bringing it into his mouth shamelessly.
“You’re dirty.” Your eyes widen.
“You’re sweet.” He hums, moving one hand to lift your thigh onto his shoulder while the other faces its palm upwards before entering two digits. He argues the repositioning allows him to finger-fuck you deeper.
His eyes attach to your core, watching his digits disappear and reappear coated in your slick each pump. You couldn’t resist grabbing his arm, nails digging into the skin to ground yourself. His free hand moves from your thigh to your clit, rubbing gentle circles and synchronizing both hands to how you like it.
“K-kento, ‘m close.”
You didn’t need to voice out anything, Kento knows your body like it’s his own. From the way your eyes screwed shut, mouth slightly opened, and hips twitching upwards tells him that you’re nearing an orgasm.
Your thighs squeeze against his body, nails digging into your own palm and Kento’s arm simultaneously as you whimper the closer your orgasm comes. It’s not long before it dominates, your juices coating Kento’s hand, damping the bed sheets. Your bottom lip is caught between your teeth, a desperate attempt to soften your moans. Kento kept thrusting his fingers in you slowly, urging you to ride out your orgasm but all it does is overstimulate.
“W-wait,” you say breathlessly, tapping on his bicep three times — the safe word (that’s not a word) you settled on.
Kento slides his fingers out, giving you some time to calm down from your high. He watches your chest rise and fall, guessing that you’re trying to stabilise your breathing — which you are. You’re also clenching around nothing in a rhythm similar to a pulse, already missing the feeling of his fingers filling you.
“Ready?” He softly asks, massaging your leg.
You hum in response, laying flat against the bed. The after effects of the high left you unable to keep yourself propped up on your elbows.
This time Kento places both your thighs on his shoulders, wrapping his arms around it and dragging you closer until you can feel his breath on your core.
A shaky breath leaves you, eyes closed and head turned to the side as you feel Kento’s tongue lick a long strip against your heat. Your hands wrinkle the bedsheet between your fingers when he latches onto your clit, sucking at the bundle of nerves like it’s his first meal within months.
Your hands find themselves on his head, fingers tangled in the strands of blond. Your back arches off the bed, a mewl of Kento’s name going into his hair and translating straight to this dick. This time he doesn’t allow you to move as you like, his arms tighten around your thigh, significantly stopping your squirming. Occasionally, his tongue slides into your hole to refresh the taste of you.
“Kento, Kento, Kento.” You chant his name, voice dripped in honey and bliss as you tug his hair, unsure if you’re trying to pull him away or push him closer.
Kento continues sucking on your clit, using his fingers to fuck you once more. The combination of him working on your clit like he’s making out with it and his fingers pumping in you, you couldn’t stabilise yourself. Your hips thrust pathetically into his mouth, chasing the euphoric feeling the faster your second orgasm builds up.
In seconds it washes over you, making your already sensitive body twitch violently. One hand moves to fist the sheet, then to grab Kento’s bicep, digging new crescents into his skin.
Your hand on his hair falls limp, eyes closed as you free your now bruised bottom lip from between your teeth. You try to catch your breath, ignoring your hair sticking to your forehead and the sides of your face due to sweat.
Kento removes your thighs from his shoulders, placing them down to grab the towel. With gentle swipes against your skin, he cleans your wetness from your thighs, the sweat from your face, then your slick from his own face. The sheets and clothes can be dealt with later. Once you’re cleaned up to his standard, he leans down to you, planting an arm at the side of your head.
“Should I run the bath,” he cuts himself off, caressing your cheek after he moves some of your hair behind your ear. “Or should we continue?”
“Huh?” His question falls deaf on your ears. You’re still recollecting yourself after two back-to-back orgasms.
Kento laughs, planting a kiss on your forehead, “Bath it is then.”

Actor Regulus taking James to awards shows and James standing and screaming when Regulus wins and Regulus hugs Evan and Barty, who lifts him off the ground.
Then he goes up to make his speech, with tears in his eyes,
“I want to thank the academy, and I want to thank my best friends Evan, Barty- the best co stars there are- and Pandora, for being the greatest friends I could ask for, and my brother, Sirius, for helping me get away from our parents this past year, which is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. And finally my biggest thanks to my boyfriend, James, for being there for me through the whole process, this movie wouldn’t have been finished if it weren’t for these 5 very important people, and I couldn’t thank them or love them enough! Thank you again!”
And when he sits again James kisses him and the cameras shows Evan and Barty both wiping their faces, holding hands. It cuts to Sirius and Pandora, who are farther back in the crowd, who are both crying, because they’re both so proud of him

where's the trophy? he just comes running over to me
Summary | Although you and Quinn aren't together anymore, that doesn't mean you two miss each other.
Warnings | none
Author's Note | This can be read as a part 2 from this imagine.
Being a famous actress has made you well known throughout the world. When you dated Quinn Hughes for two years, you were well known in the hockey world. However, due to complicated schedules, you two decided to take a break. That was until you were asked to give the James Norris Memorial Trophy at the NHL Awards in Vegas.
“Are you nervous to see Quinn again?” Your best friend asked you.
“A little.”
“Have you talked to him since you were asked to present?” She asked you.
“Quinn actually reached out to me first.”
“Oooh! What did he say?” Your best friend asked.
“He asked to meet me a day before the show.”
“Then you better look hot if you’re gonna see him again.”
“I know! I’m hoping everything goes well.”
You landed in Vegas a day before the show so you can practice what you were going to say and to see Quinn. Luckily for the both of you, you two were at the same hotel. You had texted Quinn your room number so he could visit you.
There was a knock on your door making you walk over to open it. You smiled softly as Quinn stood in front of you.
"Hey," Quinn smiled softly at you.
"Hi."
"Do you want to get some food and talk?" Quinn asked.
"I'd like that," you say. "Just let me grab my purse."
The restaurant downstairs wasn't too crowded so you two were able to get a booth and talk alone.
"How have you been?" Quinn asked.
"I've been good. I finished filming Outer Banks and my new movie," you tell him.
"That's good."
"How are you? I've seen some games when I have time but other than that, how are you?" You asked him.
"I'm doing good as well."
"Are you nervous for tomorrow?" You asked.
"A little."
"You'll be fine," you smile at him.
"I want to apologize for what happened."
"Quinn. We both agreed to take a break," you tell him.
"I know. But I should've fought for us. I didn't want us to break up," Quinn said.
"I think it was for the best. We were busy and I'm not mad at you. I still love you."
"I still love you too,” Quinn says. “Should we talk about getting back together?”
“Why don’t we wait until after you get your award.”
“What makes you think that I’m gonna win?”
“I have a very strong feeling.”
To no surprise, the media found out about your little outing was was spreading the rumor that you and Quinn could potentially get back together. However, it was quickly shut down by your team to avoid any controversy if Quinn were to win after you presented the award.
The day of the award ceremony, you took a couple of pictures on the carpet before meeting with Quinn.
“Hi,” you greeted.
“Hey.”
“You look nice,” you complimented.
“You look better than me,” Quinn complimented back.
“Ms. L/n. You’re needed backstage,” one of the show runners tells you.
“I have to go. But I’ll be secretly rooting for you,” you tell him with a smile.
“Thanks.”
Quinn watched with his brothers and parents from the seats as the show went on. Then came you to present the James Norris Award.
Quinn smiled happily as he watched you on stage. You introduced Lindsey Null who donated her kidney to Aaron Portzline, a sports writer. You stepped to the side for her to let her speak. Then it was time to introduce the nominees for the James Norris trophy.
You watched the nominee video, feeling giddy the moment you saw Quinn's introduction. You took the envelope with the winner's name while Lindsey took the trophy.
“The James Norris goes to...” you say before opening the envelope to read the name. Your eyes lit up in surprise as you saw the winner. “Quinn Hughes!”
You watched as Quinn hugged his family and friends before coming up on stage to you. Instead of shaking your hand, he pulls you into a hug before giving you a quick kiss.
“Meet me afterwards?” He asked quickly.
“Yeah,” you smile and nod. He shook Lindsey's hand before coming to the microphone to give his speech.
“I wish I got a kiss too,” Lindsey joked. You giggled before hiding your blushing face.
After Quinn's speech, he took a step away from the microphone to look at you. You smiled at him as he waited for you as you walked towards him to head backstage. He held his hand out for you which you gladly took.
"I'm so proud of you," you tell him.
"Thank you. I'm really glad you're here with me for this," Quinn tells you.
"Me too. You go do what you need to do and I will be waiting for you at the after party," you tell him, kissing his cheek.
Twitter and media outlets had blown up about you two when they saw Quinn kiss you live at the show.
Twitter user: omg! are they back together again?!
l/nstanforever: love is real again!!!!!
hockeyluver: Quinn Hughes running up to kiss Y/N L/N are goals!!!
hockeyswiftie: WHERE'S THE TROPHY, HE JUST COMES RUNNING OVER TO ME IS LITERALLY Y/N AND QUINN HUGHES RN
During Quinn’s interviews, he was hit with the question that everyone was asking.
“Are you and actress Y/n L/n back together based on the kiss you gave her on stage?” The interviewer asked. Quinn let out a chuckle.
“I’m not gonna say anything about that just yet,” Quinn said, avoiding the question so he could have a chance to talk to you about what you both were.
“Do you still have feelings for her?”
“Of course I do. She’s an amazing person. But like I said, I don’t want to say anything about that just yet.”
At the after party, you caught up with Jack and Luke before Quinn pulled you away to talk privately.
“So I’m guessing you want to get back together now?” You joked to Quinn as you sat on a couch.
“I want us to be. I missed you.”
“I’ve missed you too. Now that I’ve finished with filming, I can be with you more and hopefully I can film more in Vancouver,” you tell Quinn.
“I’d like that.”
“So, you wanna party since you won?” You asked, standing up.
"Yeah. Do you want to go on a date with me once we leave Vegas?" Quinn asked you.
"I'd like that. But for now, let's celebrate your win," you smiled as you pulled him back to the party.

everything you wanted (daniela avanzini x reader)

CW: kissing, character death, suggestive themes wc: 4271 words
⏯ now playing: we hug now - sydney rose
part two
It was any other night for you.
After consuming a copious amount of caffeine, you are finally done studying. You look at your watch, sighing tiredly when the screen displays 2:00 AM. You rub your face with your hands. What you thought would be a short study session became much longer than anticipated. You didn’t realize how behind you were.
You slowly stuff your laptop into your bag, zipping it up then swinging it over your shoulder. You yawn as you make your way toward the library exit. When you walk outside, you can’t help the quiet, ‘fuck’ that escapes your mouth.
It’s a torrential downpour tonight; your measly hoodie was the only thing you had.
You put your hood on, shaking your head as you walk quickly to your apartment. It was only a couple blocks away but in this weather, it might as well feel like years. You keep your head down as you walk, shivering with every step. You’re relieved when you finally get to the crosswalk that leads straight to your apartment building.
You step out onto the street, not thinking to look both ways. It was late and your brain was fried, having any rational thoughts at this point is impossible.
But as you keep your head down, your eyes trained on your feet, you don’t notice the headlights getting closer. You don’t hear the rev of an engine or the music that blasts loudly from a vehicle. You just wanted to be in bed already.
You don’t notice until you hear the ugly screech of the tires.
You look up, your eyes immediately widening when you realize. You raise your hands, the world going silent in a blink of an eye.
You meet Daniela Avanzini in the 8th grade.
You were tasked with tutoring the younger student due to your above-average knowledge of the subject she was struggling with. The only thing you know about the girl is that she’s quite loud, very sociable, and is terrible at science– things you are not.
You sit in the classroom waiting for the girl. Your nose is in yet another book, so entranced by the story that you don’t even notice when she walks in. You only look up when you hear the chair next to you being pulled out. When you see her, you immediately freeze.
She was undeniably the prettiest person you have ever seen.
She holds her hand out, smiling widely, “Daniela Avanzini.”
You grab her hand and shake it. It almost feels like a promise. “Y/n L/n.”
Your closest friends stand at your apartment door, a sad silence surrounding them.
It felt wrong. Going into your apartment with you nowhere to be seen.
But, after the funeral, your parents asked them to go through your things. They asked for your awards, certificates, medals, but nothing else. The rest is junk. It enraged them to think that’s all you ever were to your parents and even after death, it’s still the same. You often complained about them, telling stories about how they pushed you to be just like them. But you were nothing like them. You were just as hard working, that much was obvious. But you had your goals set on something else. It wasn’t medical school nor your research in the labs. But it was something you kept to yourself, never once sharing with your friends.
And they are determined to figure out what that was.
Winter leans down, removing the mat lying in front of your door. She picks up the key, shaking her head with a chuckle. “For a genius, what a stupid place to keep a key.” Soobin laughs and so does Yeonjun. They watch as Winter unlocks the door. At the same time, they all realize that you will not be inside waiting for them. You will not be three energy drinks in, studying at your desk. You will not be lying on your couch, cozied in your blankets with a book. You will never be in this apartment again and it doesn’t make sense because it’s yours.
Soobin walks in first and the others follow suit. They stand in the hallway, taking it all in. After a few moments of silence, they walk into your room. They’ve been in your apartment almost a thousand times but this time it felt unknown. What usually feels homey now feels desolate without its warm presence. The feeling intensifies when they walk into your room.
The bed wasn’t made. It was as if you were there this morning.
The thought almost makes them want to turn around. The desire to leave everything untouched becomes unbearable. At least then, there would be evidence that you were there. It wouldn’t matter how long ago, you would be there and you would be alive.
Your desk was littered with papers, some crumpled up while others had words scratched out with a pen. The trashcan was filled with coffee cups and energy drink cans. Yeonjun walks over to the nightstand, spotting your ID badge. He picks it up and stares at it for a moment.
Y/N L/N. 4TH YEAR PRE-MED INTERN. EMORY MEDICAL RESEARCH CENTER.
His lip trembles as he looks at your ID photo. “We were gonna graduate in three months…” He shakes his head and pockets your ID, wanting it as a keepsake. It’s a weird thing to have sentimental value over; but grief does that unfortunately. Yeonjun turns around and walks back toward Winter and Soobin. They found an empty spot on the floor to sit, not wanting to sit on your bed. Yeonjun sits next to them and takes a deep breath. He lets out a shaky sigh. “Well. This is really fucking weird.” Winter laughs. She tries not to let the tears brimming her eyes to fall. She looks down at her lap and whispers, “What now?”
Soobin shrugs his shoulders. He leans back, propping himself up with his arms. He looks around your room with a sad smile. “We find what we’re looking for.”
You are known as an academic weapon to your teachers and peers.
You aren’t a natural by any means. It takes a lot of sacrifice to be as smart as you are. Other kids your age are going out and having fun while you are at home, studying for an exam weeks away. The determination was built into you, wired this way by your parents who believe in nothing less than perfect. You had a destiny to fulfill and you were dedicated to it. If it meant long hours of studying at the library, in study hall, or at home, then so be it.
But your favorite study spot by far is on the bleachers.
It sounds ridiculous because it is. It doesn’t make sense for you to like it so much. It’s the noisiest place to be, especially after school. The constant yelling from the football team, the shrill of a whistle every five minutes, the cheerleading squad repeating the same routine over and over again. The bleachers were an overstimulating nightmare.
But it gives you the best view of Daniela Avanzini, your best friend in the entire world.
You learned more about the Latina through the many tutoring sessions in middle school. Even after she began to improve in science, Daniela insisted on still meeting with you. You learned she was very dedicated to dancing and performing. She wanted to become a star. For the first time, your life wasn’t consumed by formulas and medical terminology. You secretly lived vicariously through the girl, seeing her chase a dream that was all hers. You had no dreams.
You just had to get into medical school. That’s all you knew.
After some convincing (and her not willing to let go of you when you were desperately trying to make your way toward the school’s library) you finally made use of the time waiting for Daniela to finish cheer practice. You wouldn’t admit it, but after a couple of weeks, it has become one of your favorite places. Watching Daniela cheer became a new hobby of yours. She shined on the field, her bright smile lighting up the student section even when their football team loses yet another game. The feeling you get watching her is the same when you attend her dance competitions. You feel proud to be her best friend. And you even feel special when you are always the first person she runs up to when they’re over.
Daniela never lets you forget how important you are to her.
And in return, you’ve never missed a football game when she started on the team last year. You haven’t missed a cheer competition nor a dance competition. Every single thing Daniela participated in, you were there. She always urged you to do the same, to join an activity so she had something of yours to go to, but you always had the same excuse. You were just too busy. And why should you? You’d miss the way Daniela looks up at you in the bleachers after practicing well. The way she smiles as if looking for approval. And you’d always smile back because she always does well.
After practice ends, you always wait for her outside the locker room. When she comes out, she makes a beeline toward you, interlocking your fingers immediately. She would always look up at you with a smile, her dimple evident in her cheek. She asks, “Did you like what we did today?” And even if it’s always the same thing, you always nod, squeezing her hand gently, “Of course I did, sunshine.” The nickname never fails to make her giggle. You called her that once during one of your tutoring sessions in middle school, and she never let it go.
She pushes your glasses up on your face, leaning up to place a lingering kiss on your cheek. When she pulls away, she giggles, grabbing your hand again. She pulls you toward your car. “Come on, make yourself useful and get me ice cream!” You roll your eyes, allowing her to drag you. You playfully respond, “What do you say, sunshine?”
She giggles again. “Please make yourself useful and get me ice cream?”
You didn’t need the please. You just wanted to hear her laugh again.
Your friends return to Soobin’s apartment after digging around your apartment for hours.
They sit on his couch and in front of them on the coffee table is a locked box. They found it hiding amongst your old medical textbooks underneath your bed. They were always curious about this box. They’ve watched you put things in it before but your friends always respected your privacy, never asking about it or bringing it up. But they knew whatever was inside held the answers to their question.
The only problem is the lock on it.
Yeonjun suggested picking the lock (“We don’t know how to do that.” “YouTube is our best friend, you know?”) and Winter says to break it open (“How do you intend on doing that?” “Just Smash it open?”) but Soobin feels it would only be right to figure out the combination. When he says this, Yeonjun raises his eyebrow. “Are you serious? We don’t even know what’s in here. And you think we can just figure out a combination?” Soobin sighs. He knows it sounds stupid, but he already feels bad for invading your personal life like this. After a few seconds of silence, Winter picks up the box. Soobin reaches his hand out, scared she may try her idea, but she pushes him away, fiddling with the lock. “Trust me! Let me try something…”
The two boys watch Winter work on it. Their eyes widen when they hear the lock click open. She pulls it off, surprised as well. Yeonjun leans over, the shock evident in his voice, “How’d you figure it out that fast?”
Winter shrugs, looking down at the box in her lap. “I tried their phone passcode. 0701.”
It’s your senior year, and your feelings for Daniela have evolved to a point where they have become distracting.
Your parents have noticed your lack of focus on your studies. Being the child of two well-known doctors in Atlanta made it even more difficult for you. There was a title to uphold and a pressure for you to be just like them. Before meeting Daniela, it was something you’ve accepted. You had your entire future figured out before you were even born. After meeting Daniela though, the free spirit that she is, made you realize there’s a lot more to life than the expectations your parents set for you.
There were days where you’d stay longer in study hall, attempting to study for your AP classes. But it would be immediately forgotten once Daniela joins you. On the days where she isn’t at cheer or dance practice, she would join you wherever you are. She’d sit next to you, taking out her homework or the latest book she had begun reading. She would put her glasses on and get lost in her task, while you took glances at her shamelessly.
It always confused you on why she’d spend all her free time with you when she had her own life to live.
When you arrive at school in the mornings, you’d find her standing at her locker talking to her friends from cheer or class. The moment she spots you, she’s ending the conversation and attaching herself to your hip. No one at your school understood your friendship with Daniela. You were always so quiet, so timid. Daniela was energetic and everyone knew her name. But no one would ever see one or the other, they always saw you and her. And that’s how it always was.
Until one morning.
You walked into school expecting to see Daniela at her locker. However, you spot her on the other side of the hallway. She stands with a boy you recognize from the football team. You watch as they interact and your stomach drops when she places her hand on his shoulder. You see them laugh together and you have to will yourself to look away when you see her light up at whatever the boy says. You walk quickly down the hallway, avoiding her eyes. You don’t stop when she calls your name. You just keep going, ignoring the stinging in your chest.
It goes on like this for a week. And then two weeks. Then suddenly, you’ve stopped keeping track of how long it has been since you talked to Daniela. You have exams and projects to focus on.
You walk out of study hall, your eyes on your phone as you walk toward the exit. However, you bump into something– or someone more like it. When you look up, your eyes widen.
It’s Daniela.
She has her arms crossed and she is glaring at you with that intense look in her eyes. You check your watch, noticing she should have been on the bus to go to the game 15 minutes ago. You’re about to say something but Daniela pushes you, successfully knocking you back a couple steps. You look at her surprised. The Latina steps closer to you, jabbing a finger into your chest. “What the hell has gotten into you lately?” You look away from her, your voice shaking slightly, “I don’t know what you’re talking about…” She scoffs, crossing her arms again. Her tone comes out even harsher than before. “You’ve been avoiding me. I thought you were just busy with everything but you haven’t even answered my texts! You won’t even look at me anymore, what the hell is going on?!”
You look at her, exasperated. “Dani, I don’t need to always–”
She cuts you off, yelling, “Don’t call me that!” Her words make you roll your eyes. You try to walk away but she grabs your wrist and stops you. You turn toward her, your tone firm, “Let me go, Daniela.” But once the words leave your mouth, you regret them immediately. Your eyes soften when you see how hurt she looks. Tears are threatening to spill from her eyes and her lip trembles. She whispers, her voice cracking, “What did I do wrong?” The desperation in her voice breaks your heart. Knowing you’re the reason makes you feel worse. You shake your head, taking a deep breath. “You didn’t do anything wrong, sunshine.”
She wipes her eyes and you want to reach out and wipe her tears for her. She looks up at you, her eyes glistening. “Then what’s up with you? You’re supposed to be my best friend…” She shakes her head and looks down at her feet. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Y/n.”
Her words knock the wind out of you. Without a second thought, you grab her by the waist, pulling her in for a kiss. She doesn’t respond at first. You begin to think that you’ve ruined everything, that you’ve lost Daniela completely. You’re about to pull away but she grabs your shirt and pulls you closer. Her lips move against yours desperately and it makes your knees weak.
For the first time in your life, you have something worth fighting for.
On top of everything lies an envelope.
Yeonjun grabs it. He takes a deep breath and opens it slowly. His hands shake as he pulls out two pieces of paper.
One is a one-way ticket to Los Angeles.
The other is a concert ticket.
Winter takes the concert ticket from his hands, studying it. She can’t help the giggle that escapes her lips. “Katseye?”
Your first semester at Emory is a nightmare.
After years of being able to breeze through any assignment and project, you now find yourself struggling to keep up with the demands of what it takes to be a pre-med student.
You’re consuming more caffeine than you ever did in your life, there are days you’re not even sure if you ate anything besides a granola bar you found at the bottom of your bookbag, and amongst all of your fellow pre-med colleagues, you feel somewhat inadequate.
You’re sitting at your desk in your dorm when you hear your phone begin to ring. You want to ignore it knowing your exam is in the morning, but your eyes briefly land on the name. You grab your phone, answering it immediately. You lean back in your chair and smile. “Hey there, sunshine.”
“I’m outside.” You sit up, your eyes wide and your heart beating out of your chest. Your smile gets wider as you stand. “Are you serious?” She giggles, responding, “Come outside and find out.” You speed walk toward your door, your hand on the door knob but Daniela stops you. “Nuh uh. It’s cold out here, put on a sweater.” You roll your eyes, groaning, “How do you know I’m not wearing one?” The silence on the other end is the only response you get and it causes you to sigh, quickly grabbing one of the hoodies you threw on the ground earlier. You sprint downstairs and hear Daniela laughing on the other end at your excitement. You run out the door and spot her immediately.
You run toward your girlfriend, wrapping your arms around her waist. You spin her around and her loud squeals cause you to smile even wider. When you put her down, you lean in, kissing her softly. She places her hands on your cheeks, deepening the kiss. You pull her closer as if you were scared this was all a dream. After a few minutes, she pulls away, looking at you with stars in her eyes. You kiss her dimple before pulling her back for a tight hug, burying your face in her shoulder. You murmur, “What are you doing here?”
She giggles, running a hand through your hair. “To see you, dummy.” You pull away slightly to look at her in surprise. “You drove almost an hour to see me?” She nods, wrapping her arms around your neck. She leans in and kisses your nose. “I missed you…” You pull her in for another tight hug and chuckle. “I missed you too, sunshine.” You hold her close, your worries disappearing. You’re about to ask her to come inside but she speaks up, saying, “I do have something to tell you.” You pull away, your arms still around her waist. You notice the excitement in her eyes and tilt your head in curiosity. “What’s up?”
She takes a deep breath. She speaks softly, “Do you remember that audition I was telling you about?” You light up at her words, nodding quickly. “Yeah! Did it go well?” Daniela bites her lip and nods. You hug her again, shaking her excitedly. You remember how nervous she was for her audition, but you knew she’d do well. She always does.
However, you notice a shift in her mood. You pull away, placing your hands on her shoulders. You look at her worriedly. “That’s a good thing, right?” Daniela looks down when she hears your words. She whispers, her voice barely audible, “I’m going to California.”
Soobin continues sifting through the box and pulls out a stack of letters that are neatly kept together with a rubber band. Yeonjun and Winter lean closer to him, watching as he pulls the rubber band off with caution. He goes through the letters and notices they are all addressed to you. They’re all dated and signed off by the same person.
‘Your Sunshine.’
Yeonjun grabs one of the letters. Unlike the others, this one was mailed to you. He opens it, taking it out of its envelope. “This one is from three years ago…” Winter looks at it, her eyes scanning for anything important. She sits up straighter when she reads the words ‘Dream Academy.’ She reads the whole paragraph aloud: “I know you’re not happy about me going to Los Angeles. About me being on Dream Academy. But this is everything I’ve ever worked for. I can’t give it up for anything, I’m sorry. You have your dream and I have mine.”
Soobin looks at her with a raised eyebrow. “What does that have to do with anything?” Winter grabs the envelope that contains the two tickets. She holds it up, waving it around, “Y/n was going to Los Angeles–” Yeonjun cuts her off, adding, “Yeah? They got a job at the UCLA Medical Research Center there… That wasn’t that surprising.” Winter rolls her eyes, continuing, “They weren’t just going to Los Angeles for a job, dumbass. They were going for whoever this is.” She opens the envelope, taking out the Katseye ticket. “And I think it’s someone from this group.”
Yeonjun leans back against the couch, chuckling. “You’re joking right?” Winter shakes her head. She looks back at the letter, putting the pieces together. “Dream Academy was the survival show that created Katseye… It just makes sense.” And no one can deny it, it certainly does make sense. But it all seems so far fetched. If anything, they could be putting together a story that doesn’t exist at all. They sit in silence, not knowing what to do with the information in front of them. Winter sighs and puts the letter down. She looks at the two boys with a determination in her eyes.
“There’s one way we could try… Seeing if I’m right.”
Daniela breaks up with you over the phone.
It wasn’t a long phone call. But it did enough to crush you.
She tells you that the distance is too much to handle. She tells you that she needs to focus on training. She tells you how she can’t be distracted.
When the phone call ends, you can’t help but feel you’re back at square one.
You sit in your dorm, taking a glance at your anatomy textbook. You push it off your desk, tears spilling from your eyes.
An hour later, they move their investigation to Winter’s apartment.
They sit in her room, waiting patiently for your phone to charge. It was given to her by the police when they came to break the news of the accident. Your driver’s license still had the address of when you and Winter lived together in your second and third year at Emory, which led to her being the unfortunate one to know what happened first.
She was also the unfortunate one to identify the body.
The sound of your phone turning on fills the silence of the room. They turn their heads, looking at it. Your lockscreen was all of you together during a trip you all took last spring. You’re all smiling widely, holding each other close. Even through the cracks on the screen, the photo still emanates a happiness that they are afraid of never getting back.
Soobin grabs your phone and looks at the others, his hands shaking. They watch him unlock it ‘0701’ and swipe for your contacts. He sighs in relief when he sees you haven’t blocked the contact he had been looking for.
‘Sunshine <3’
“What if they pick up?” He whispers, looking up from your phone. Winter shrugs and keeps her eyes on her lap. She speaks quietly, “I guess we’ll see.” Soobin nods and looks back down at the contact. He taps on it, putting it on speaker for everyone else to hear.
To their surprise, the person answers on the first ring.
“Y/n? Are you okay?”
an: i literally have no clue how this idea came to mind considering I watched the drama like two years ago but hey! heartbreaking content! i lowk don't recommend watching it bc it is so sad and it took a lot of mental energy for me to finish but it was so good. watch it if you'd like some context, esp episode 5 but u rlly don't have to.

Fic Idea For Tim Drake And Jason Todd, and the Drake Family Dynamic
TW: Mention of drug abuse, overdose, infidelity, genetic addiction, general socialite behavior
The fics where Jack and Janet Drake are terrible parents who neglect and abuse Tim do make for good found family angst, yes.
However.
I propose to you something new and much much better. Yes, Tim's parents may not be winning any parent of the year awards, but they did teach their son how to be ruthless in the face of insults to their name. Together, Jack and Janet Drake are known as the sharks of the socialite world. You bleed a drop of blood and they'll sniff it out and sink their teeth into it, tearing you wide open.
Janet is a known social climber, she started at the bottom of the food chain and made her way to the top through coldness and apathy, using her mind to snap back at people when they dared to insult her or her family. Jack had been raised in the socialite world, and knows the ins and outs well. He knows that every smile is fake and every person is putting up a mask, and he knows how to see behind them.
This being said, I add in another popular fic trope. Young Tim and Jason meet at a gala, but Janet and Jack do not care that they talk, they actually encourage it. They always taught Tim not to take advantage of the way he was raised, or to think of himself as better because of something he was born into such as his wealth. When the Drakes found out that Brucie Wayne had taken in another boy, and that he was from Crime Alley, they did not believe a single thing the papers said, and promptly did not think much of it.
They were a little confused when their son developed an obsession with the Wayne's boy a few months later, but Tim had always been a little odd, and had always been fascinated by the Wayne's, what with seeing Dick Grayson's final performance, even if it was tainted by the awful events that occurred that night.
Of course a welcoming gala is hosted for the new son, Jason Todd, a couple months later. And of course the Drake's will make their appearance for it would be rude not to do so. They would be seen as prejudiced if they did not show, for they are welcoming this poor orphaned boy who lived on the streets and is now taken in by a rich man! How could you be so cruel as to not welcome him!
(The rich love to seen empathetic and thoughtful. It makes them feel better about how terrible they to those who need help)
(The Drake's, again, do not care much. The boy is just like any other, and they have a lovely son already. However Tim is so very excited, and the couple already knows the cruel things that will be said tonight, so they suppose it would be refreshing for Jason to talk to people who were not faking sympathy for his situation)
That's not to say that the Drake's were not sympathetic, just not in the ways that the surrounding crowd was.
At one point, Janet nearly scoffed after hearing some old bat tell Jason that "she truly felt for him. Truly, his situation was just awful, how could a mother set that kind of example for their child? He must feel so lucky to be living with someone as amazing as Brucie Wayne now. Not living on those filthy, disgusting streets anymore."
The poor boys face had turned so red Janet thought he might blow a gasket, and his expression was one of disgust so plain she felt she had to help him. How people could just assume the way they did, she would never know.
She looked down at her son, who was also watching the entire situation play out, and felt her lips upturn slightly. Tim had taken to watching people like a fish took to water, he was a natural at gathering information and reading people, as well as telling them what the wanted to hear.
Janet squeezed his shoulder and whispered to Tim, "Go, he looks like he needs a friendly face at the moment."
Tim's smile is bright and happy as he bounds over to Jason, and as they strike up a conversation, Jason's face slowly goes back to a normal color and he starts to form a smile of his own. Tim had always been bright and aware, and she was proud to call him her son. He was empathetic without giving pity, something she knew she hated receiving after talking about her own upbringing.
Satisfied with how things turned out, she leaves the two boys be, and turns to the crowd to find her husband. No doubt he's stomping down rumors left and right at the moment, he never did stand for the lies that circled the socialite community, no matter if they were about his family or someone else's.
Jack and Janet are talking to an older couple, Mr. and Mrs. Eldine, when they hear affronted gasps from a small gathering towards the other end of the ball room.
Jack and Janet both seem to realize at the same time that their son is presumably still with Jason. Jason, who has been called many names throughout the night, many unfavorable. And their son, their lovely Tim, who they taught to never hold back when insulted, or when someone he cares about is insulted.
To say they rushed to the center of the crowd was a bit of an understatement.
Sure enough, in the middle was a small clearing, and there stood Tim, shielding Jason with his body, and Eli Barnum, a man who was as sleazy as he was rich. Barnum stood red in the face, looking livid. Tim looked proud and defiant, and Jason looked shocked and worried.
Janet and Jack were at the boys' side swiftly.
"Timothy, could you please explain the meaning of this?" Jack's voice was strict and punishing to unfamiliar ears, but upon hearing it Tim relaxed minutely.
"He-" Tim was cut off before he could even start.
"Your son," Barnum spat, spittle flying from his mouth in his rage, "is the most disrespectful brat I've ever seen. You ought to teach him a lesson in respecting his elders, before someone else does it for you."
Jack tensed, and Janet's nostrils flared dangerously.
"Mr. Barnum, it would treat you well to not interrupt my son when he is speaking. It is impolite and frankly barbaric. Timothy, tell is what happened." Janet sounded every bit as terrifying as the tabloids said.
Tim looked from his mom, to Mr. Barnum, to his dad, to Jason, then back to his mom. He then looked back to his mother, eyes flashing with barely concealed rage.
"He called Jason a street rat. I was merely reminding him of what a rat really is."
Janet Drake smiled down at her son and nodded, while Jack looked back at Jason and tilted his head in question. Jason nodded shyly to confirm that this is what happened.
After the confirmation, it seemed as if the entire Drake family became a stone wall blocking Jason from the putrid man in front of them.
Janet pursed her lips, somehow managing to look down her nose at Burnam while being shorter than him.
"Is this true, Burnam?"
Burnam sputtered, his face turning impossibly more red.
"It's not like I'm wrong! Kids a gutter rat, shouldn't be mixing with people like us. We all know his mom was a druggie! And we all know how that is, runs in the blood! He's bound to end up just like her, useless and doped out by the time he's sixteen! Not to mention the diseases he probably carries from his time on those filthy streets, he's like a stray dog, probably riddles with fleas and pestilence!"
Janet hummed, felt her blood pressure rise beyond what she thought possible, and it worsened when she heard the heavy breathing coming from behind her. Jason appeared to be hyperventilating.
She knew how horrible people could be to those who were raised in less than favorable positions. She'd experienced it first-hand more than enough to last a lifetime, but to see it directed at a child, who had already been through so much at such a young age, sparked an anger in her so bright she felt as of it would burn her alive.
Or she would burn alive those who she directed it at.
She could tell her boys felt the same way. Tim was stiff as a board under her hand on his shoulder, and his breathing was nearly as bad as Jason's. Jack's body was poised like he was bracing for an impact, ready to attack.
"If I do remember correctly, Eli, your mother and father divorced after your mother found your father...ah...how did you put it...doped up? With another woman in his bed, and here you stand. Your hands are shaking, your face is hallow, and your teeth are the most horrendous shade of yellow I have ever had the displeasure of looking at. Perhaps it runs in your blood?"
Barnum's face dropped, paling at a rapid rate. The surrounding crowd was so silent you could hear a pin drop, and Janet's voice seemed to echo off the walls.
Then her son spoke up.
"Oh, right, it must be a familial connection, I'm sure of it, mother. It is his father's business that he inherited. It's the same business that is suspected of 67% of illegal opioid dealings in Gotham! Remember that, mother?"
Janet smiled cruelly, "Yes, Timothy, I do."
Jack clapped his hands with force, "Well then, we must have this man escorted off the premises immediately! How could someone such as him be around our children! What a terrible influence! Security!"
Burnam was dragged out kicking and screaming while a crowd of paparazzi surrounded him, and the Drake's looked down at him like he was little more than scum on the bottom of their shoes.
After all was said and done, Tim turned back to Jason, only to find he was taking to Bruce using wild hand gestures and looking about one breath away from a panic attack.
Then Jason looked up at caught Tim's eye, and smiled widely before dragging Bruce over to The Drake Family.
"Dad. Dad, these people are the coolest people I've ever seen in my life. That was the most insane thing I've ever witnessed. Oh my god."
Bruce smiled at the Drake's, and everyone could tell it was Bruce, not Brucie. They had found a secluded enough corner, and most of the attention was still on the paparazzi and the new gossip, so they were mostly safe from being heard.
"Thank you, for standing up for my son."
His smile was sincere, and Janet felt her heart melt just slightly, but didn't let it show on her face.
"It was stupid to leave him alone like that, Bruce, you know full well what these people are like."
Bruce nodded in agreement, "Yes, that was quite idiotic of me, I must admit, and I can assure you it will not happen again."
"Be sure that it doesn't" Janet snapped, before softening slightly.
Jason watched the conversation like a tennis match, head bouncing back and forth, before grinning up at Janet like she hung the moon.
"You are a total badass, Mrs. Drake."
At those words, Jack let out a loud chuckle, trying to stiffle it but failing, and Janet felt her lips quirk up.
"Jason, laguage!" Bruce admonished, but Jason didn't seem to hear him.
"And Tim! That was so cool, dude! How did you know about the whole drug thing? Even Bruce was shocked when he found out!"
Tim felt himself freeze up slightly. Batman was shocked about something he found out? He was totally going to freak out about that later. But not now. Robin is talking to him.
"It was really easy to put the pieces together after looking at the company stocks. There were too many suspicious transfers to unknown places, and after hacking a couple security cameras, I found out where he was spending his free time. Or, I guess how he was spending his free time."
Bruce raised an eyebrow at the young boy. "You hacked security cameras? Is that not illegal?"
Tim stared him head on, not backing down, ans Janet couldn't help but be proud of her little dragon.
"You've never done anything illegal, Mr. Wayne?" Tim's voice was sweet, his eyes wide and innocent, but the threat was loud and clear.
Bruce froze for a moment, and Jason's draw dropped to the floor. No way this kid new.
(The kid definitely knew.)
Jack shook his head, grabbing Tim by the shoulder and squeezing warningly.
"Sorry, we made the mistake of teaching him about blackmail, and he got a little obsessed. Timothy here probably has dirt on the entire high society at this point, and probably many more people that his mother and I are aware of."
Tim nodded in agreement.
Bruce took this in for a moment. "And you're both okay with this?"
Janet chucked slightly, "Truly, Bruce. I'd like to see you try and stop him."
Tim smiled something feral. "You can try, but I promise you'll fail."
Slowly, Bruce nodded, and Jason let out a laugh.
"Hey, Mrs. Drake, can you teach me that really scary glare you did at that man? In case there's someone else like him in the future?"
Janet looked down at the young man and felt incredibly fond. It was impossible not to, with his gaping smile and his boyish attitude.
She nodded, "Hm, yes, it's best you learn the art of intimidation sooner rather than later. However, for right now, if anyone acts even remotely the way Burnam did tonight, I want you to find Tim, who will find Jack and I, and we'll deal with it, sound good?"
Jason nodded quickly, while Jack looked down at his watch.
"Ah, darling, we should be getting home. It's nearly two in the morning!"
Janet nodded, and looked down at Tim, who looked sullen about the prospect of leaving but nodded nonetheless.
"Well then, it was an eventful night, but I cannot say I'm sad to see it come to an end."
Bruce chuckled at Janet's statement, humming, "No, I can't say I'm too disappointed either. Again, thank you all for tonight. Tim is welcome anytime at The Manor, I'm sure he would fit right in with my boys."
Jack nodded, "Thank you, and of course the same goes for Jason and your other young man, Dick, correct?"
Bruce nodded, "Yes, that's him. I'll see you all around"
Jack and Janet nodded, and Jason and Tim said goodbye to eachother, exchanging numbers and arguing about something, (all the adults heard was something about Wonder Woman and a toaster), before heading their separate ways.
The night all together didn't go as horribly as it could have.
Tim made a new friend, and Jack and Janet felt less worried because of it. They knew their son was odd, and although they loved him dearly, the knew not everyone felt the same amount of affection towards his more terrifying habits.
So all together, it was a success.
As Jack and Janet settled in for bed, they didn't hear their sons window open down the hall, or the sound of him exiting it.
Tim made sure to be absolutely silent, and as soon as he entered the city, he disappeared into the shadows completely.
He had some birdwatching to do, after all.

Hi, could you write a Quinn Hughes where his long-time girlfriend is a figure skater and she goes to the Olympic games and wins gold and he is there with his family and later he gets asked by the press and he is all proud boyfriend.
of course! sorry that it’s a bit short and it took so long, thanks for requesting! 🫶🏻
MASTERLIST
Golden Moments || qh43
word count : 495
gif not mine!
It was the final night of the Olympic figure skating events, and Quinn watched from the stands, his heart pounding in rhythm with the music. His parents and brothers were beside him, but his focus was entirely on you. He knew exactly how hard you’d worked for this moment. Every early morning, every late-night practice, every victory and setback—he’d seen it all, and now here you were, on the biggest stage in the world, with all eyes on you.
You took off into your first jump, a flawless triple Axel, landing with the precision and elegance that only came from years of practice. The crowd erupted in applause, and Quinn let out a cheer, unable to contain his pride. His brothers, Jack and Luke, clapped and whooped beside him, while his mom squeezed his dad’s hand, all of them completely enthralled by the magic unfolding on the ice.
The performance was everything you’d ever dreamed of—bold, beautiful, and powerful. When you landed your final jump and struck your closing pose, the entire arena leapt to its feet in a standing ovation. Quinn found himself standing too, his heart swelling with pride as tears pricked his eyes. You’d done it.
When the scores came in, confirming your place as the Olympic gold medalist, Quinn’s voice was lost in the roar of the crowd. You looked up into the stands, searching, and when their eyes met, you beamed, your smile stretching wide, radiating pure joy. Quinn mouthed a simple, heartfelt, “I love you,” and you replied with a small nod and a hand pressed to your heart.
Later, after the medals were awarded and you’d taken your place on the top podium, Quinn waited backstage. You came around the corner, medal still hanging around your neck, cheeks flushed from the thrill of it all. The second he saw you, he swept you up in his arms, spinning you around as you laughed.
“I’m so proud of you,” he murmured, holding you close, feeling your warmth and the hum of excitement.
“Couldn’t have done it without you,” you whispered, pressing your forehead to his. “All those pep talks, all those late-night calls… you were there for it all, Quinn.”
The media swarmed almost instantly, and though Quinn wanted to shield you from the flashing cameras and questions, you just held his hand tightly bracing for the questions. When reporters noticed him standing beside her, they couldn’t resist asking, “Quinn, what was it like watching her tonight? Your long-time girlfriend, now an Olympic champion?”
He grinned, blushing a little but beaming with pride. “I’ve watched her put everything she has into this. To see her out there, skating like that, and to know she reached her dream—it’s just… I can’t even put it into words. She’s incredible. I’m so proud of her.”
His answer prompted more questions, but he didn’t mind. He was happy to let the world know just how proud he was of you.

Do you have any Jake & Rachel “behind the scenes” /“family events during the year” headcanons throughout the war effort?
Rachel sits Jordan and Sara down one afternoon, and tells them that if she or their mom ever starts acting weird, they’re to call Jake and tell him what happened. Just Jake. No one else. Jake, she promises, will know what to do.
Half the school gossips about them being kissing cousins, because at some point they’re too tired to care, and just start getting lunch together rather than trying to fight it. Plus, everyone knows that if you bad-mouth Rachel, Jake’s going to give you a talking-to until you’re the one apologizing in tears. And if you bad-mouth Jake, you’re going to get your teeth punched in. Neither Berenson has the bandwidth to give a shit about the rumors; don’t they know there’s a war on?
Borrowed from Shane C: When they do have spare time, they do all the extreme sports all the time. Cliff diving, windsurfing, BMX, shipwreck tours, free solo climbing — they do it all. They get injured occasionally, sometimes even fatally, but that’s part of the thrill. As soon as they figure out how, they’re going to start jumping out of airplanes for fun. Sans parachute.
They develop a code on the phone: “Algebra” means “you need to check on.” Rachel calls Jake the day after their conversation about Visser One, and goes “Marco still failing Algebra?” Jake gets off the phone with Cassie and immediately calls Rachel: “You remember that guy Tobias from your Algebra class?” The day after Estrid and Gonrod leave, Rachel starts a conversation with “Pretty sure I’m going to axe Algebra from my schedule.” Neither of them ever questions the fact that it’s their job to check on the others, that of course they would be the ones to fly out to Tobias or to make an excuse to drop by Cassie’s for the afternoon. Tobias needs them, Ax needs them, the others need them. So of course they go, because it has to be done. And of course it’s one-sided. Jake’s fine. Rachel’s fine. They’re the strong ones, remember? They don’t need checking on in turn.
The photograph of human Tobias in Rachel’s dresser — Jake gave that to her. He found it in a roll of print-outs from his mom’s digital camera that was 85% him and Marco messing around trying to take crappy self-shots. He mumbled something about how he figured, you know, if she wanted, that’s all.
Rachel returns the favor indirectly, when she gifts Jake’s parents a blown-up, lightly edited photo of his family she made in Computer class. It’s a few years out of date, technically, Jake and his mom and dad grouped around a sweaty, grinning Tom who holds a basketball trophy aloft. But it replaces the picture on the mantle of the four of them outside the Sharing awards banquet, which is was her goal all along.

bfb. (my best friend’s brother is the one for me!)
PAIRING... best friend’s brother!riki x reader | GENRE... dancer! au, romance, humor, fluff, a flirty riki and down bad reader | WC... 2.1k | inspired by best friend’s brother by victorious (if you couldn’t tell already lmao)
wrote this at 2am in celebration of 1000 posts wtf

the first nishimura you met and befriended was actually sola. the first day you joined lead entertainment all those years ago, the bright and bubbly girl was the one who greeted you and showed you around.
“oh, and this is my sister konon!”
your eyes widen at the sight of the sweaty, yet still gorgeous girl coming out of the practice room. by the looks of it, you assumed she had just finished leading a class.
immediately, the resemblance hit you. the nishimura girls were both beautiful and talented.
konon tilts her head at you, guzzling down water.
“so you’re the newbie.”
you nod, “nice to meet you. i watched a bit of your class and you were incredible.”
“could say the same here.” when your eyes widen, a bit taken aback, she explains herself.
“saw your first class earlier today. not bad, for a beginner. you could work on your facials, though.”
you raise an eyebrow, “is that just constructive criticism or an offer to teach me?”
konon shrugs as sola giggles, “whatever you want it to be.” you both then share a smile. you instantly knew you two were going to get along well.
for the next couple of weeks, you spent a lot of time with konon. not just dancing, but also bonding to the point you considered her your best friend. she taught you a lot more about the performance aspect of dancing, which you greatly appreciated. honestly, konon was mesmerizing both on and off the stage.
“wanna sleepover?” konon asks after a particularly long session. “my parents probably won’t be back since they have to close up the studio, so you can come over to my place.”
“wait a second, your parents own the company?!”
“oh y/n,” konon shakes her head sympathetically, “there’s a lot you don’t know.”
and right she was. you had absolutely no idea that the nishimura girls had, in fact, another sibling.
a brother.

freshly showered, you gasp in awe while admiring the nishimura residence. it was clean with those sleek modern vibes, and not to mention filled with countless dancing awards that you assumed came from the girls.
as konon leads you up the stairs, she tells you to wait outside her door. “it’s a bit messy…”
you roll your eyes, telling her that you don’t mind, but she protests nonetheless. while waiting, you explore the hall. most of the room doors were closed, but a faint sound coming from one of the rooms catches your attention.
it sounded like, someone yelling? they had a remarkably deep voice, like they were a guy-
“y/n!” konon hisses and you jump, turning around. “what are you doing? get in here!”
finally seeing her room distracts you, as you momentarily forget about the noise coming from down the hall.
you had stayed up rather (very) late with konon, yapping the night away. not expecting to stay over, you didn’t bring anything. at some point, you begin to shiver. “it’s kinda cold,” you whine.
in a sleepy daze, konon goes out of the room and retunes with a random hoodie.
she throws it at your face, in which you grunt a thanks.
“why is it so freaking huge,” you yawn while shoving it over your head. she mutters something random while plopping onto the bed, leaving the both of you to pass out contentedly.
the next morning, you groan as you wake up. konon was still snoring away, so you decided to quietly go downstairs and grab a glass of water.
the whole house still seemed quiet, so you assumed her parents and sister were still sleeping as well. they knew you stayed the night, right?
carefully grabbing a glass, you pour yourself some water and gulp it down with a satisfied sigh. turning around, you’re about to head back up when you almost bump into a body.
your eyes fly open in surprise as your water slightly spills over you and… him?
the first thought in your head is that—
crap, this guy is ridiculously handsome. and tall.
you gape, pointing a finger at the stranger although you know it’s rude.
“who are you?”
he squints back, “what are you doing in my house?”
the situation you were currently in was so unexpected that you remain speechless for a moment. “i-i don’t know what you’re talking about,“ you splutter.
he crosses his arms, studying you from head to toe before he smirks. you swallow uncomfortably, feeling a little too warm.
“konon invited me over!” you manage to spit out, mirroring his actions by crossing your arms too.
“sure. i guess that means you’re allowed to steal other people’s clothes as well?”
you tilt your head in confusion. “what do you mean?”
he only chuckles, making you feel even more flustered. “answer my question!”
he takes a step closer and you force yourself to stand your ground and not take one back. “which one?”
his voice is so deep that you shiver. then it hits you—he must’ve been the one you heard yesterday night down the hall!
“b-both,” you mumble while looking away. just as he opens his mouth, about to answer, you hear konon’s voice sleepily calling out your name.
“you’re up already?” she yawns as she pads down the stairs. you furrow your eyebrows, glancing from the strangely familiar tall stranger to konon, then back to him, and finally back to her.
your mouth drops agape.
“don’t tell me-!”
“oh, you didn’t know riki was my brother?”

you want to die of embarrassment. not only were you clueless about the fact that a nishimura riki did indeed exist, you were really done dirty by konon.
how were you supposed to know that the hoodie you ‘borrowed’ actually belonged to aforementioned person?
how did you not even know konon and sola had a brother? neither sister had ever brought him up before and you had never seen him around the company because oh, you would have remembered a face like that.
your face burned, mortified, as you brought the washed hoodie back to konon.
“could you return this to your…brother?”
“shouldn’t you do it yourself, considering you were the one who wore it?” she snickers as you complain endlessly.
“you gave it to me, so i thought it was yours!” you groan while rubbing a hand over your face in frustration.
“don’t worry about it. riki is chill, especially since you guys are around the same age.”
great. how were you going to face her unfortunately, really stupidly super cute brother?
she tells you what room he’s practicing in, and you despise how your heart is pounding as you make your way over.
since you hear music still playing, you decide to wait patiently outside for him to finish. you figure there was probably no harm in peeking through the windows while you waited.
you were wrong. your mouth literally dries up at the sight in front of your eyes.
life was unfair. not only was riki blessed with good looks, he was also an incredible dancer? obviously, you should’ve expected no less from the nishimuras.
when the music stops, you take a deep breath and knock. to your surprise, the door almost immediately opens.
the sight of a sweaty and breathless riki is almost too much for you to handle.
“hi,” you say meekly. internally, you face palm. just being around him caused your brain to shut down.
“hey. enjoy the show?”
“what?” your head snaps up, flustered.
riki laughs before opening the door and letting you in. “i was just joking.”
“oh… well, i wanted to give this back to you.”
he looks down at the bag held out to him.
“it’s washed,” you add hastily, “thanks for letting me wear your hoodie without permission, i guess.”
“no problem. it looked better on you than me, anyway.”
oh no. your heart definitely skipped a beat.
seeing your reaction, riki reaches over to ruffle your hair.
“you’re cute.”
you? cute? riki? his smile? adorable?
“y/n? are you alright? why did you come here?”
“huh? what?” you finally snap to your senses.
you don’t even realize where you are until sola is waving a hand in front of your face. after riki’s words, you definitely spaced out. how did you even get here, about to enter the youth group’s class?
she watches you worriedly. “you were walking down the hall like a zombie. did something happen?”
your mouth opens, but you aren’t able to formulate a response. yes-but no, not really - you don’t even know yourself.
instead, you choose to place your hands on her shoulders and sigh pitifully. “you nishimuras are going to be the death of me…”

after that day, every encounter with the menace that is nishimura riki only makes your life harder.
much harder in the sense that you just want to shut him up with a kiss. his nonstop flirting made you wonder if he was born like this. i mean, everyone at the studio knew he was handsome.
girls would whisper and flirt with him whenever he stepped into the studio. and yet, he rejected their advances and seemed disinterested. riki only acted crazy, well, in front of you.
when you tried to bring it up discreetly to konon, she simply snorted.
“riki’s used to the attention. it doesn’t phase him anymore. he’s like a little kid. he doesn’t care—i think he’s just not interested in anyone.”
except, riki wasn’t like that around you. he was sweet, offering you water when no one else was around. he left snacks and silly notes in your dance locker. he would make funny faces and wink at you when his sisters weren’t looking.
it almost made you delusional. like maybe he… reciprocated your feelings?
you hated keeping all your feelings suppressed, all behind konon’s back. still, you always asked to come over to her house when you knew riki was there.
you couldn’t get him out of your mind. your best friend, konon’s, brother. if only they weren’t related. then nishimura riki would be the one for you.

“i’m gonna go use the restroom.”
konon hums as you leave to go out into the hall with purposefully loud steps. you hold your breath, praying that you’ll ‘run into’ riki somehow. you knew exactly which room was his, so you could only hope he came out at the exact moment you did.
he doesn’t. deflated, you quietly tip toe over to his room, placing an ear to the door.
you listen, hoping to hear some noise. it’s awfully quiet, maybe he’s not in his room-
whoosh!
the door swings open and suddenly, you gasp as you’re dragged in. riki sneakily closes the door as you’re stunned by the latest sequence of events, almost jumping out of your skin.
how in the world did you end up in riki’s room, with him,
alone?
“riki-“
he shushes you by pushing his finger to your lips. goosebumps appear on your arm, simply by his touch. you didn’t even realize that his other hand was still holding onto yours.
“eavesdropping, were you?”
he renders you speechless. you really didn’t have an excuse…
he grins, “or were you just hoping to bump into me?”
you mumble something random, embarrassed.
“don’t worry, i was hoping to get you alone too.”
your eyes flick up to him, before you sigh and pull your arm out of his warm grasp. “do you really wanna know why? it’s because i can’t keep wondering.”
“what do you mean?”
“i mean this,” you gesture outwards, “i can’t keep wondering about this-us- because…”
“because?” he gazes at you with adoration evident. you squint.
oh, he knows. at that point, you realize he‘s known. riki has known for a long time, maybe even since the beginning.
at this point, it’s too late. nothing else to do but swallow your pride. you stand up straight, biting your lips.
“is it wrong for me to say that, i like you? like, a lot?”
riki says nothing for a moment, which only serves to makes you panic. if you just made a huge mistake and misread all of his signals-
“honestly, i always liked you.”
your breath hitches. he shrugs, looking almost shy himself for the first time in front of you.
“i noticed you on your first day. i just didn’t know you grew that close to my sister.”
suddenly, riki leans in as if he’s about to kiss you. you quickly stop him by holding onto his broad shoulders.
you swallow, searching his eyes.
“but what about konon?”
he seems annoyed at the mention of his sister. “what about her?”
“you’re my best friend’s brother!”
riki simply smiles cheekily while leaning in, “she doesn’t have to know.”
when your lips meet, you can’t help but smile. it felt so right, wrapping your arms around his neck as he picked you up by your waist.
it seems like your best friend’s brother really was the one for you.

It's Right to Read Day, celebrating libraries, highlighting the relentless attacks against them, and encouraging folks to take at least one action to defend them! The American Library Association's data on the most banned books from 2024 is now out; after 3 years in the top spot GENDER QUEER came in at second on the list with George M Johnson's beautiful queer memoir ALL BOYS AREN'T BLUE at number one. If you haven't read it yet, please go pick up this book.
Unfortunately, instead of dying down, we are now seeing the book ban movement morph into an effort to defund and destroy ALL public libraries and ALL public education, as exemplified by the Trump Administration aiming to dismantle the Department of Education and placing all employees of the Institute of Museum and Library Services on administrative leave. The IMLS is an independent federal agency that provides grants to libraries and museums across the country. According to the American Library Association, the IMLS provides “the majority of federal library funds.” The IMLS says it awarded $266 million in grants and research funding to cultural institutions last year. This money goes to help staff, fund maintenance, and create new programs. If you are curious how the termination of this grant funding will effect the state of California, here is a press release from the California State Library. Please call your state governor and representatives asking them to demand support for the IMLS!
I also wanted to share some resources to help you talk about book bans/book challenges if the topic comes up in conversation. There are a set of really common bad faith arguments which book banners make, and I helped write up a set of responses for Authors Against Book Bans (much of this was also written and compiled by superstar author and AABB leader Maggie Tokuda-Hall). Below the responses to bad faith arguments are a list of resources you can contribute to, especially if you live in a blue state and don't have a current legislative battle over books and libraries in your own backyard.
What to Say When They Say What They Always Say: an Authors Against Book Bans resource
I haven’t read this book but I don’t think it’s appropriate for children!
Please read the full book before you judge it. Passages are often presented without context.
So you want kids to have access to porn?
No. And if that is a concern of yours as a parent, install browser filters such as Google SafeSearch on your children’s devices to keep them from accessing the wealth of pornography available to them on the internet. It’s already illegal to bring pornography into schools. There are robust safeguards– from laws, to industry standards in publishing and librarianship and education– to safeguard our children from obscene materials, as determined by the Miller Test.
What about parents’ rights?
Parents already have robust rights in their children’s education. When that means limiting access to certain books parents can do so; nearly all schools have policies to this effect. But what about all the parents who WANT their kids to have access to books? Their children should not be limited by what another parent in the community decides for their own family. And what if a parent wants to limit their child’s access to something that child would benefit from? What about the child’s rights? Children are people, not possessions of their parents.
If my taxes fund the schools and libraries, I should have a say in how they’re used.
Schools and libraries serve entire communities, not just those who agree with you. Libraries and schools have professional educators and librarians with PhDs who are trained to curate collections that serve diverse populations, not just one viewpoint.
LGBTQ+ books confuse kids or make them gay/trans. They push an agenda.
LGBTQ+ representation is not an “agenda”—it’s simply a reflection of real people’s lives. If books featuring LGBTQ+ characters are “pushing an agenda,” then books featuring straight relationships or cisgender characters are as well. Reading about something does not automatically change a person’s identity, just as reading about astronauts does not turn every child into an astronaut. Reading about LGBTQ+ characters can both help kids understand themselves and build empathy and understanding towards others.
I live California. Why should I care about book bans if they’re not happening here?
We are fortunate to live in a state where book banning on the basis of discrimination has been outlawed through AB1825, which passed in 2024. However, California has still seen numerous book challenges in cities like Huntington Beach, Burbank, Lodi, and Chicosome of which continue efforts to overturn these protections. While bans are worse in red states, they still happen in blue states. Book bans are about control—not protecting children. The people banning books today will censor other forms of speech tomorrow. The right to read is a fundamental civil liberty, and we should protect it accordingly.
How Can I Help from a Blue State? For the biggest bang for your buck, we recommend that you donate to the grassroots organizations making a difference in the places where the bans are happening all the time. All the ACLU chapters listed here are currently involved in lawsuits against book banners.

EveryLibrary (is a national org, but they financially support many of the groups listed here, as well as AABB): https://www.everylibrary.org/donate
You can also call your state reps to express your commitment to protecting the freedom to read. Protections in blue states are just as contagious as bans in red states. The more of us who have them, the more states will follow suit. Use the 5Calls app do this, or find your rep here: https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/
And of course- if you are an author, editor, illustrator, cartoonist, translator, anthology editor, self-published author, please join Authors Against Book Bans! We could use the help! If you want to help recruit to AABB, feel free to print and pass out my recruitment zine at any literary event you attend <3

The people have spoken so i shall yap about the RSA owl gang
Okay lets start off with Edwin and Rex
When Edwin was about 100 something years old, he was out exploring the distant lands within briar valley, he eventually found a small archipelago near it, He eventually found a cave that led to some sort of ruins, it was locked and he had to carefully break open the door (he blew it up)
and inside those ruins he heard the cries of a baby dragon like beast, it looked like it was just fresh out the egg, bits of the shell it came from were still around, making the scene look like it must've fallen and hathed when Edwin blew open the door and because of it and a piece of its little horn must've broken off when it fell
and cuz of the babies cries, it alerted an ancient defense system within the ruins and tried to attack Edwin who was an intruder, and he cant just leave the baby with that thing, he scoops up the baby and flees the ruins, he chooses to keep the little baby and take care of him,
Edwin lives in a fairly secluded area cuz of his family's curse it was his decision to move away, but his parents still send him letters and stuff because they wanna check up on him from time to time (Hatsifer has been appointed mailman cuz of his UM)
he then gives the baby a name and calls him Rexus Thornhill "Rex" for short, Edwin doesn't know what he is but he's figuring it out as it goes
Rex is literally the equivalent to a 6-10 year old, he needs to constantly be monitored otherwise he's gonna cause chaos, he climbs on people's backs very often
even though Edwin is the one that raised him, they're more like brothers instead of parent and child, and got a prosthetic for the missing part of his horn
he's very mischievous and is offering pulling pranks on Edwin or any unsuspecting student that happens to be there
before he even enrolled he was already at rsa cuz Edwin snuck him in (he may be 60 something but thats still a kid in fae years and like hell Edwin would leave him alone at the house)
he joins Edwin whenever he wants to skip class, and while one day on Edwin's 2nd gear they skedaddled away from rsa cuz Edwin found his class boring
and them ditching ended up with a visit ro the sunshine lands where they ran into an absolute mess of a human, and by ran into i mean literally, they ran into him
and that was none other than Lucky Indūrāre, who noticed that Edwin was a student at RSA and begged him to let him try on the jacket cuz he's always wanted to go to a magic school but never applied because he has to stay home with his mom
they then dragged Lucky to RSA against his will but told him he could be an RSA student just for a day and they'll bring him back home after that
shenanigans happened, and Lucky ends up in a duel against the first year top student Amicus Blackwell because he messed up Amicus' presentation on accident, which caused an entire scene in the school, and a duel was the only way to solve it
however the only problem is, Lucky has no experience with combat magic at all, in fact he doesn't even know how to actually use his magic well, because his mother thinks he's magicless like her so he never learned how to use magic properly-
so the duel happens and Lucky is just squandering around and somehow manages to win against Amicus (totally not because Edwin helped him a bit by putting some of his own magic inside the sword Lucky was using for the duel)
but then Lucky gets found out that he actually isn't a student here at RSA, but they'd still award him cuz he still won against Amicus
he declines because he says the sword was enchanted with someone else's magic and id it wasn't for that then he wouldn't have won
they still give him a letter of admission anyway cuz his honesty, bravery, determination and overall goodness are what makes him an RSA student (typical rsa)
he declines and goes home but they still send the letter to his house anyway, and his mom reads it, and finds out that her son had magic this whole time and tells him to follow his dreams and that she'll be fine at home
he then enrolls to rsa and finds out that one of his roommates is the guy he unintentionally beat up and now begins the slow burn rivals to lovers arc between lucky and amicus
