Tell me a show you watched that you think would have been better with a 20 episode season instead of whatever it got. I’ll go first:
Dead boy detectives
Dead end paranormal park
Inside job
Cuphead
Hazbin hotel
Man I sure miss 20 ep seasons :(

I don't know what happened to the Patitos on the tweeter, but are they attacking the CC´s again? Literally, I want to understand why they think that the CC are obliged to make public speeches in defense of Quackity on topics that they are not related to, what fanaticism is this? The first thing that appeared on my Timeline today was attacks on Cellbit and his project( Ordem Paranormal), saying that Ordem only had quality content because of Quackit, (In other words, the person belittled everyone else involved, including other players like Roier, Foolish, Pac, Baghera… just to say that Quackity is the one who gave a lot of quality to the project, which is one of the biggest, if not the biggest RPG from Brazil.)
Peoople calling Cell a bad friend because he never came to defend Quackity in public, but people....Do you understand the meaning of reciprocity? Quackity never went public to defend him, or any of his friends from the mass attacks they suffered, and it's not like the streamer should take care of that, in fact, I've said it before and I'll say it again, the community, especially on Twitter, doesn't It's the CC's responsibility, they have to make an effort to take care of their own chat on Twitch, but for example Twitter, and these more public places are no longer something that is in the hands of Streamers exactly because of "freedom of expression/freedom of speech", people will attack each other on Twitter, it's their territory and they use it as they see fit, no streamer will have control from there. They may even say something, but that doesn't guarantee anyone's control. I'm shocked that mass attacks have started again for free..

I said about writing something spooky… I wrote this in a Sam draft and I’ve been non stop thinking about it.
Let me know what you think 👀 also should it be reader being just friends with Sam and Colby or reader having a secret (kept from the fans) thing with both of them??

While I’m on a Toga kick, it’s interesting to me that this arc for far seemingly sees Toga give up on romance & being like her crushes, yet she’s is acting more like Deku & Ochako than ever now. But specifically at their worst by putting her interests and happiness aside to right a great wrong; paralleling Ochako putting her feelings for Deku aside for a long arse time now, and more pressingly, Deku’s whole self destructive mindset in the Dark Hero arc.
Although what’s interesting with Toga is, it’s ambiguous & debatable if this is really that kind of self-destructive downgrade for her. She hurt the ones she loved & innocent people before, consuming blood and ostracizing her from normal society in the process, and so lived only for herself. But now putting aside love seams to mean putting aside blood. In looking for revenge, she also pursues justice, and now only attacks those complicit...even if that does work out to mean “all of the heroes.”
In the past I joked that it seems like she just can’t win because her behaviour is seen as toxic no matter what; but really, I’m curious which behaviour the story will ultimately say is worse for her.

So I was watching season 2 clips of dead end as you do and I was watching the one where Badyah has her totally normal and straight imagining of Norma and Zagan being a thing. You know the whole twilight parody scene. And along with commentors having no sense of humor, of course they have to spin it towards the ship being problematic.
And I will say, as someone who was kinda sorta spoiled on this, I had my worries too, but if you're looking at the actual context of the show, there's nothing to get upset over. Yes, Zagan is 1600, but that's because she was turned when she was 16, so physically, she is still in the body of a 16-year-old. But before you bring up mental age, it's also very clear that she still thinks like a 16-year-old. You don't even have to look at season 2 for this, it's apparent from her first appearance that she's childish and immature.
Like how she talks about how it's "so unfair" that her brother gets to rule over planes when she doesn't. Or later in the finale, when she loses to Temeluchus and is threatening to tell their mom about it. So she's very clearly still a teenager.
And Norma is 17, so what, one year age gap, technically. Is this really what we're getting upset over? Because it's not an issue when a vampire is thousands of years old and looks like an adult and gets with a fellow adult but when a 16 year old gets turned and is 16 for a thousand years and there is the hint of a possible relationship with a 17-year-old, suddenly it's problematic.
This is not the same as the "1,000-year-old loli" that anime likes to use as a cover up. You wanna know why? Because those characters have the appearance of children but supposedly "have the minds of adults" and it's just a twisted way of getting away with having an adult be with what is clearly a child. The same case is true of dragon maid, where the dragons are said to be hundreds of years old but Kana clearly looks like a child and even goes to fucking kindergarten and is still sexualized.
The problem is that there is a clear disconnect between the physical and mental age of the character, but that isn't the case in dead end. Zagan's physical and mental age match up, and her and Norma aren't even sexualized, they literally just kiss in Badyah's imagination which was a twilight parody, it was supposed to be comedic.
And yet I've even see people try to say that "Well Norma doesn't even look her age" which like, excuse my language, but kindly fuck off. I, like Norma, am a very short individual, 5'2 in fact and I can remember a clear and recent example where I was called 16 instead of 18. So you're literally playing into the stereotype that short adults don't exist and that if you're short then you must be younger. But I'm sorry, some people just do not look their age, I often compare myself to that of a 12-year-old boy (which hey, still a boy) but that doesn't make me 12.
Norma isn't portrayed to be any younger than the other characters, she's just at a lesser height compared to them. But that doesn't make her automatically younger than them. And also, I'd like to say, that DE:PP is a CARTOON so of course things are going to be exaggerated, it kinda comes with the medium.
And one final thing, I've also seen people bring up the point of "but what about when Norma gets older" and it's like. Come on, guys. No one actually thinks this ship is going to be endgame. It's simply just not happening and I would be willing to bet my entire bank account on that. Not that I and many others don't enjoy it, but let's be honest with ourselves. Hell, if we're taking Norma's word for it, she literally says Zagan isn't her type. And even if they go back on that now that Norma is training under Zagan, at most, they'll be a fling. But they certainly won't last long enough to be an established couple or anything like. And even in a universe where they were endgame, all that would have to happen is for Zagan to make Norma a vampire with her. And then BOOM problem solved.
Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest before twitter inevitably makes a callout post about it, that is, if it doesn't implode within the next few weeks.

It’s just so refreshing for Dead End to plainly acknowledge and talk about more serious subjects, be it in one line or a longer plot thread.

Reading the first Mercenary Librarians book for book club (Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha), which is very funny, we usually do loose month themes and I'm guessing this month's theme was romance (I missed the reveal I was at ski week) because this is shelved in scifi but it's clearly a romance book, written by a romance author duo, it has that sort of particular world and character building and dynamic that romance novels do (this is not a bad this it's just very. Telling? The conventions of the genre you see) and is VERY spicy. But of course my stupid ass, who is a romance book reader, did that thing that I do literally every romance book series where I get super attached to the secondary slow burn couple who clearly is going to get together during a later book. Like uhuh yeah ok instant chemistry main books one couple suresure but tell me more about the two characters who are like. Staring longingly at each other and having meaningful moments but not touching due to their Tragic Backstories.
Like oh my god I am so predictable.

Anyway yeah I got the second book (digitally because I am on quarantine!) and they don't even bone until like almost the very end of the book and then it immediately careens into whump and ooooough yeah baby that's what I like to seeeeee. Tell your love interest that you'll never be used against her while you're being tortured and dying from your supersoldier brain implant!!!! Which she later has to save you from!!!! I love to see that shit!!!! Who cares about book one smouldering insta-attraction betrayal-angst when I can have the slow buuuuuuuurn I want them to brush shoulders during training and both need to go away to their private rooms to swoon and angst.
I'm super curious as to how the conversation will be steered in book club. The romance is very much the driving narrative, paired with a pretty standard "here is the group of bad guys we need to defeat using the power of the connections we've made with our FOUND FAMILY of couples who have gotten together over the course of however many books are in this series" (this time it's Evil Future Company Government) which is feel is pretty typical of most (paranormal) romance I've read.
Not a perfect series but a fun read, at least through books 2 of 3. But also like. As noted I'm insanely biased towards the ship dynamic that the second book is entirely focused on so like. I cannot be trusted in this.

Man I really like idea of richas as plural because in spite of me liking the paranormal, when it comes to stuff like demonic possessions I think it's my least favourite, esp because of the history of treatment possessed (or rather mentally ill people in distress being deemed possessed)
Like even just taking it as fiction I never really got the appeal of possession on people and exorcisms. I think for me I don't like ideas of concrete malevolent and benevolent spirits in the world (evil demon from hell and blessing angel from heaven, etc.) It kinda implies almost anything is either good or evil in the end through death and it's not great. And demonic possession treatment just kinda adds to that, and it hurts the possessed too in many ways. Like
I'd much rather itd be discussion of mental health rather than a demon but eh that's my personal preference

Forgotten YA Gems is now on Discord! Join us for discussions!
We’re a Goodreads/Discord group that reads YA, NA, or MG books that are at least five years old. While not necessarily “forgotten” (as many of them have lovely fanbases here on Tumblr), we focus on backlist books that aren’t getting the same attention as new releases. Feel free to join us to vote on monthly reads, participate in challenges, and talk about books!
This month's read is The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. It’s been years since I read this one, so I’m excited to revisit it!
Have you read it? Is it on your TBR? What did you think?

btw william absolutely had a fascination with death even in secondary school and college. the difference is that in secondary school people were like "that guys going to end up being a serial killer" and in college people were like "what a strange interest for that nice young man"
