Valor didn't realize such huge creatures existed here. Most of what they'd seen was on the small side compared to what he was used to, but this creature was huge even for the Isles.
But Valor was all for learning about new creatures, so he paused their glow bug chasing to follow in the bushes.
Tumblr media
Humanoid, was the first thing Valor noticed. And was that . . . a dress? Was this species sapient? Humans were the only obviously sapient species he'd seen here so far - it was called the human realm for a reason - but if there were more . . .
Not only was she huge, she was also bright. He had a difficult time actually looking at her to see any features, especially since it was night. Her clothes and the general shape of her head was all he could make out, though he was sure he'd be able to see something of the face as well had they not been behind her.
It sounded like she was singing.
They'd have to be careful. Small as they were compared to such a giant creature, they'd be easy prey. Either that, or crushed beneath her feet.
Flicker nudged Valor and pointed much closer to the ground, near her feet. "There's a little one."
Valor directed his attention to where they were pointing, and sure enough, there was a much smaller one, about the same size as witches and humans. He wondered what that was about. Friends of different species? Sexual dimorphism? Different roles in the social group? A symbiotic relationship? Whoever this smaller one was, they seemed to be very attentive to the big one.
He kept watching them, this time much more focused on the smaller one.

I think Mrs. Flood may be an Osirian. Specifically, Isis / Alozza
If they focus on the Osirian/Egyptian Mythology side of Sutekh, it would make sense: Isis is a goddess that has been associated with a million things. Importantly for this, she is connected to the sky, to rain, and to fate. She was also the sister-wife of Osiris, who himself is associated with cycles of nature. Including, the annual flooding of the Nile.
From there, the name 'Mrs. Flood' tracks! She is both the flood of rain and the wife of its endless cycle. She's also a widow, so of course she would have a married title yet no spouse.
It would make sense to include her specifically, as she is important to the Osiris Myth that Sutekh's history is based on. In it she collects pieces of Osiris that Sutekh/Set scatters after murdering him. After finding them, she resurrects Osiris for long enough to have Horus (or an aspect of him at least). Horus then 'defeats' Set. Which parallels the story in Pyramids of Mars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being an Osirian would explain her creepily ominous warning to Cherry. As while she would not be with Sutekh, she would still be a higher being with alien priorities. Her being on earth would also somewhat fit with the dweu. Where Isis waited on earth for Sutekh's awakening. Though not 1-1.
It could also connect back to Ruby, as Isis' has strong connections to motherhood. If Ruby was say, secretly an Osirian, there are options. Especially considering her name's reference to both the Sun and the colour red, like girl is nearly a verbal description of the Eye of Ra. She could be the daughter of Isis herself, maybe a younger aspect of Horus (God of Light but also a god of the Sunday), hidden away as a human. Though that would be a very literal take. Honestly, when it comes to Ruby I'm not sold on anything specific.
Lastly, If they go this direction, I'm guessing the "vital object on a distant planet with no name" that rtd teased, will be related to the Osirians. Since they've already used the Eye of Horus, perhaps the Eye of Ra? It is has been depicted in relation to Isis. It's also often personified as a Goddess so, maybe Ruby herself? A living trap/weapon, idk). Whatever it is though, Mrs. Flood would be instrumental in defeating Sutekh. We'll see.
(Also: disclaimer and apology in advance to both people who actually know about the religions I'm mentioning, and to EU/Faction Paradox fans. For anything I may have got wrong 🙏)

Scaled Justice - [Prologue]
After so long, I've finally gone out my way to smash out this piece. Hope y'all enjoy what been waiting for. TW: Light Cursing
╭────────────── · · 𓍝 · ·──────────────╮
Dull unpleasant feeling washed over Glitch. Well... that's the name he thought he was called. Lying aimlessly against an invisible force of darkness floating away. An abyss of sorts surrounded him as were his memories hazy, no recollection of how many days faded by. Not even his own past... Where he was from. His yellowy-red eyes gaze confusedly around his surroundings, nothing but emptiness. Greyish-black rays twitched against the top of his head as the coldness of the room brew around him. A hand brushed the bridge of his nose, adjusting the glasses that sat there. His right side blurry as he tried recalling his actions before this.
“Ugh, what happened?”    “Why am I here?”    “How long has it been?” millions of questions with no way of finding answers. Thoughts scattered Glitch's mind, before long sounds of footsteps chilled through the room. Admits darkness, an island of sorts illuminated a secluded area. Glassy ductile gold reflected ones soul. His chest tightened at the very sight, tugging his shirt a little in his grasp. Shaking the jolt, Glitch hoisted himself, brushing the dust of his sweater. Red as a rose, soft material matching the hue of his eyes. Over it, wore a black coat around his shoulders, the lapel lined with a bright yellow down to the waist.
Picking up the pace to the distant clatter, the noise grew louder as did uneasiness arise. His scarf waving faster with each passing movement he took. From afar, it look to be some sort of yard glistening with variously tall Closing into what looked to be the entrance, he recognised the glowing candles that sat on top the ends of weighted plates. Each held to a perfect balance attached to a triangular rod, circular orbs each end keeping it stable to a tea.
Glitch pondered at their designs, sliding a hand against one of their frames. The coldness from the gold-plated pillars gave a sense of familiarity from such ancient masterpieces. He glances down a padded path, floating plates of stone leading down a secreted pattern. From where he was, he could tell this was the ‘Entrance’ to some realm. The abyss behind him surrounding such enchanting and mystical structures couldn't help but venture.
Prodding down the path, each scale had a particular shape to them., emblems of sorts like a Ying/Yang. He had knowledge of such things before but seeing with his own eyes brought a smile to his face. His posture straightened as he wondered ever so slowly through this unknown place.
With each step, the footsteps echoed left to right. Was hard to depict the exact location. He motioned himself close to one particular scale, feeling some sort of connection with the peculiar structure. Dark streaks of black cracks loomed over the edges and down the sides of the scale. A gradient mixture between gold and midnight blue lingered the base. Brushing his hand over the sides, he fiddled with the scale disk, a cold touch against his fingers. His mind was intrigued with each part, analysing with big interest. Too deep in thought, he didn’t sense the presence lingering behind him. A distant glare through the murkiness, ominous steps closed in on Glitch, still unaware the suspension alluding not far from him.
"So you’re the new one, how unfortunate" a deep chilling voice emerged from the depths behind Glitch. The tone detached yet unemotional with a sentimental authority. Alerted, Glitch swung his body round, arms raised, fists clasped into a defensive position.    Narrow eyes met with sharp mono, heterochromia ones. Half a splitting canary yellow with the other an Egyptian blue shade, similar to his own. They seemed to be the same species as himself however cracks covered parts their dark-grey faceplates. A suit worn with a watch locket against his breast pocket. A strange feeling gloomed over that particular item, a sense of strong power illuminating. Glitch furrowed his brows, lips tightening with nothing to say. A suspiciousness loomed between them, only the sounds of metal chimed and clanked the area. Something about them felt 'familiar' to Glitch but he couldn't pinpoint exactly what...
"Are you going to just stand there or tell me your name boy?" the man crossed his arms, finger tapping the edge of his elbow impatiently. Glitch shook out his little trance like state, hesitantly looking up to the individual. They weren’t much taller than him but still didn't shake the intimidation off his shoulders. Reluctant to answer Glitch sighed, placing his clenched hands into his coat pockets.
"I-it's...Glitch"    "That's it? I thought as much, after all you did lose your memories after the 'incident'" The man sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. Glitch noticed the others disappointed in their tone as then to realise something.
"wait, incident? What are you talking about?" Glitch remarked, eyes widened in disbelief.    "Your world was destroyed remember? After-would you got brought here in the Abyss to have a second chance in life"    "so I died" Glitch concluded staring down, dark shadow over his eyes. Paradox on the other hand, mouth hung open, blinking in disbelief. His face contorted in annoyance before facepalming himself, groans and inaudible muffles shaking his head.
"Of course you didn’t die you idiot for scales sake, fine let me explain, my names Paradox and I'm the Deity of Time and Space. I will be your new mentor for your new purpose. You were summoned here for a reason and I'm here to give you that power" Glitch furrowed in confusion, evident enough with uncertainty as to what Paradox was talking about. Though he did sigh with relief, slouching his shoulders down knowing he didn't end up down under.
Glitch took his time digesting the new information, his hand brushing his chin absorbed in the details. He furrowed his brows passing a little in the spot.
"what's the catch? What power could I gain when I don't even have any but this weird coding thing" As Glitch spoke, he summoned a glitched box torn from within the air loading all sorts of binary. The numbers giving anyone a headache if they tried deciphering them. Paradox smirked intrigued with an unsettling chuckle under his breath.
"I bestow you Glitch Void to be the Guardian of Destruction, obtaining the ability to destroy worlds with the flick of a switch. The catch... You must protect all Guardians amongst our Multiverse" Paradox stood firm, arms behind his back as he strode past Glitch, a mere husky whisper yet audible enough to hear. In a moment’s notice, Glitch jolted up, shivers all through his body like static pinching his limbs.
"Wow wow WHAT?!!"  Glitch panicked, his mouth quivering in fear and shock, not comprehending the whole situation well. He stared into space as Paradox walked right passed him holding what looked to be some watch of sorts.
"In due time you will learn you'll learn this power and purpose"    "but for now, you must meet the others and be one with this Multiverse"    " Your Scale has only just Begun" With that, Paradox turned back around watching as a portal to an unfamiliar place opens wide in the open. Shinning some colour to the blackness.
"W-WAIT DONT GO!" Glitch lunged forward, arm forward attempting to grasp onto Paradox’s vest only to fall through the portal of sorts into whole new surroundings. Collapsing to the floor with a loud 'THUMP' he groaned at contact. Lifting his sore body off from the ground, he adjusted his glasses. Somehow, they were still intact after the fall, surprising him.
After tidying himself up. He took notice of his surroundings, after all he did try chasing after Paradox but unfortunately they were nowhere to be seen. He gritted his teeth as he stared down to his hands. He obtained some destructive power but he had a sense of doubt, misfortune that he had to destroy precious worlds. Some reason deep down he felt some attachment to them, he hoped 'one day' to figure it out.
Sighing, he stood firmly analysing everything around him, trees of many colours, blossoms of various species littered the fields. It was like some sort of heavenly garden. Pillars and fences lead down a rocky path. Curious, Glitch picked the pace and followed down the trail. The sweet smell of flowers as the hot rays of the sun beamed down on him felt like something he hadn't felt in years... Made him question how long he was in that realm.
Approaching an end to the path, he spotted a brick water fountain, dainty water poppies and aquatic flowers around the grove. The sites was mesmerising, sparking a sense of calmness and relaxation through his body. Closing into the fountain, he watched as his reflection swirled through the waters it obtained. Glitch eyes grew large, unaware his appearance being so different than what he recalled. Despite a fuzzy memory, small flickers of images flood his mind once in a while. One in particular included his appearance. Whatever happened in his world must have corrupted his coding, that's all he could think.
Without second thought, as he was about to sit up to look around more, a thick green tentacle of sorts slashes cross his face. Fast reflexes, Glitch avoids the impact. The catastrophic damage it could have caused as he looked towards the direction it came from. Glitch peered behind himself, finding himself surrounded by two individuals.
Both skele-tronics of sorts admitting intense power and strength. One wore a dark blue cape of sorts, having similar rays to Glitch but instead a bright dandy yellow colour, an emblem of a sun on his coat gave the impression of a prince of sorts, though his aura gave some positive energy to the room. The other one, a dark lingering power eerie off them, four drippy tentacles of sorts latched from his back as he wore a forest green turtleneck. A black leather restraint harness, strapped around his shoulders to his tights.
Just from one glance, it gave Glitch chills but something else deep down he felt his chest skip a beat. Face slightly flushed a light blue barely visible, but the hot feeling was pretty evident to himself.
"Who are you and how did you get here!!" the one with tentacles threat, walking closer and gripping Glitches collar. He pulled him down with immense strength that he thought falling to his knees.
"Calm down brother I-I'm sure they are new Guardian the uppers have been talking about" the second one tried reassuring, attempts to settle the situation. Sweat dripped nervously against Glitch forehead as he chuckled unintentionally. Lifting his arms up, giving into the confrontation. Taking a deep breath, Glitch slowly pulled himself up from the other, out-strengthening them. With a small grin quickly planting on his face, Glitch soon twisted the figures body over his back into an arm lock. Their head against his knee as was his arm locked and lifted against his torso. The other yelped in pain as he tried getting out of the hold. His brother watching in amazement but also concern.   “Next *huff* time you do that *huff* don’t charge at someone who is defenceless” Glitch puffed feeling exhausted as it was quite a move he pulled out of the blue. The one on the ground gritted their teeth audibly before being released and rubbing his arm.    “Well apologies, names Shade Spirit, this is my younger twin brother Light.” “Now who the fuck are you” Shade glared with hint of sarcasm in his lines still rubbing his sore arms. Light wondered over beside him checking it out for any muscle tears. Glitch sighed with some relief, releasing the tense feeling he never realised he had in his shoulders.    “My names Glitch…Void, yeah Void, I-I’m the Guardian of Destruction?” Glitch questioned himself remembering what Paradox referred to them as. Shade and Light looked up blinking at Glitch, surprise in their widened eyes. They seemed in thought as they pulled away from Glitch.    “BROTHER, WE HAVE A DESTROYER!!!”    “I heard you loud and clear geez calm your ass down”    “Well sorry~ that we have one to help out, it’s been hundreds of years since there ever was one after all. The situation between creation and destruction after all”    “Those are all fantasies, but at least now we know there’s going to be a creator which is a ‘problem’”
The two bickered with another, inaudible to Glitches distance. He tilted his head in confusion, attentive to know what they were muffling about; however, he did respect boundaries after all they did only just meet.
From what felt like hours, the two shuffled back towards Glitch, Light grasping their arm carelessly pulling them away from the fountain down a particular rocky path. Glitch squeaked unexpectedly being dragged through the same pathway he went through initially to get there. Nearing an intersection, lead three different routes: each with its own pillar and symbol. The right one held a symbol of the moon, left held symbol of the sun which left the middle with a cracked pillar. The image on it, disfigured to a point of no recognition. It was disturbing but made sense if it matched his position. But one thing still bothered Glitch. What was that about being responsible with all Guardians. A question he didn’t know to ask Shade or Light his new…comrades.    Turning his attention towards Shade, he found something fascinating about them. Despite their rough first impression, he didn’t seem too bad. He had a calmness to his dark aura, that made Glitch feel warm inside. ‘why do I feel this way’ Glitch pondered to himself, was he falling for them? He couldn’t. He was soon interrupted from his thoughts as Shade poked his face with one of his tendrils.    “Hey you alive? You were staring at me for a while” Glitch flushed dark blue as he tried covering his face with his scarf, hot feeling to his face making it pretty obvious to Light. He chuckled at Glitches reaction compared to Shades obliviousness to it. Shade just blinked in confusion crossing his arms grumpily and impatiently.    “We should probably explain this place to you” Light lead Glitch to a nearby bench by the pillars, the wooden textures giving chills at the first contact. Shade sits next to him, pulling a book from nowhere, seeming uninterested in explaining. Light giving a sigh knew this would happen and decided to explain.    “Glitch Void, New Destroyer of AU’s, Welcome to the Royal Gardens, a place where all Guardians of our Multiverse gather and help to keep balance.” Glitch nodded attentively taking notes, his body leaned forward.    “We each represent a part of what makes the multiverse operate and you are in charge of cleaning up any Au’s that must be banished. This usually is when the new creator is around, but we are hoping they are a ‘good’ guardian”    “Interesting, and my guess is that if they are disrespecting the rules then something must be resolved soon as possible?”    “Correct, if there is anything you need to know ask myself or Shade, we currently lead the team here. If you prove yourself maybe you could help us out” Glitch looked away, thinking over each word. Leaning back, he stared up at the sky; the big white clouds passing by along the cool breeze passing by. Glitch closed his eyes, enchanted in the new reality he was going to face. Maybe this could help him remember his past..    “I want to help others…I love Au’s with a passion, the scales must be one with the multiverse” Glitch muttered, Shade and Light listened unintentionally with furrowed brows; unsure what he meant. Glitch soon got up from his spot in a justle, a sudden adrenaline boost through his body as he smiled.    “I’ve made up my mind…I will help you guys, will try my best to be a good leader someday and when that Creator comes, I will be ready” Glitch chimed with a cheery bright expression. Shade smirked in amusement, a small tint of cyan on his face. Light stared with a smug grin on his face as he shrugged Shades shoulder. The three soon gathered back to the fountain to discuss other matters and meet the various guardians that roamed the gardens.    I will protect the multiverse.    my second chance in life.    I can’t let this go to waste.    What’s the worst thing that could happen in few years.

thinking about faulkner made me want to sing. just a lil verse, lyrics below:
you reached out your hand
then you turned away, denied
my narrative could not stand
at last i called for you, i cried
no one wrote it down

I made a rough idea of what Solita's living space looks like in the Fae Court. I'm pretty happy, especially with the walk-in closet/storage space.
I didn't know what to do with the second small room, so I just slapped down some plants and a "nectar" thing. Partially, a joke that Sol's secretly brewing alcohol for herself to get around being mostly-banned from Hriob's brews, and also a little bit of a garden and storage space for pigments for hand-made paints.
