From what I can tell, paper garments were a stunt. A way for the Scott Paper company to draw some attention to its products in the mid-1960s at a time when young people were known for running giddily from one fashion to another from week to week and tossing out what was no longer the latest fad. In short, when novelty for its own sake was a virtue in fashion. And when a stunt could gain a company more attention than mere advertising could.
The show at MAD the Museum of Art and Design in NYC runs through August 27th, 2023.

Wizard Books
Following the success of the incredibly unusual Grimoire Edition of Best Left Buried, we contacted our friends at Creative Quest and asked them to make a silly edition of Inevitable for me.
We had two made in the moonhues of Constance and Ezra, featuring an unusual crinkly papercloth book cover, along with lil’ revolvers on the book ribbons and various metallic clasps to seal them. One of them has already been sold to a lucky punter at UKGE, but the remaining green one is up for grabs if you fancy buying a book with a lock.
Tumblr media
These are beautiful and bespoke handmade editions of Inevitable that we mainly intended to use as props to sell the game, but if people keep trying to buy one I’ll do a limited run for interested customers. The price point is around £300, but they’re handmade and customisable. A range of Inevitable themed colours are available. We could do them in Moonorange, Moongreen (as pictures), King’s Crimson, King’s Lilac or Barren Cream.
If you’d like to buy one, drop an email to [email protected]. If we get enough interest, we can dance.

~#8: On Found Materials and Your|My Isolation, Brought to you by 📝PAPER 📝~
Tumblr media
Dear Friends,
Today I capitalize the F in friends to underscore the depth of our community in our isolation. For we are alone but not at all alone, always.
For instance, I know that I stare at the non-moon tonight* and meditate on my existence, I know that no other soul will ever share the meaningfulness that is my interiority fully. I know that I will be graced by the goddess for the length of my days by I will forever be separated by a thin veil of transparency that means
No. One. Will. Ever. Under. Stand.
But before you dismiss me as entirely trite, I want you to know that I know that only makes us more connected to our fellow animals, scrabbling in the dark together under guise of “jobs” and “professionalism,” here is a dress I made of the credit card offers made to me over many months. I have been receiving them for years without knowing what to do with them, as the municipal recycling system here in NYC is a ruse at best, a precursor to a citywide dictatorship at worst.
I have been moved to move tonight, please take my offering of free expression. Even though the supreme court of the Untied States does not protect non-performative Dance as such**, I hope you will.
xCeline
*in truth, there is the barest sliver of a moon
**indeed, the supreme court may fail to protect all forms of expression that deviate from the historical remount performance of worship to the 14th century European patriarchal lord, our father of the Dollar, in future months, but that, like the moon, does not feature prominently in this post.

It is post-op day 24 today, but I will get to that later...
Post-op day 23 (yesterday) was big. I’ve been too tired/wobbly/high-ish from the Valium to shower [safely] for a long time and I was just sick of smelling myself. I took a shower! It’s only my second shower since I came home, which I know is gross, but it is a huge accomplishment! I realized that, while standing in the shower under the water with the sound of it echoing all around me, I didn’t notice the dizziness (and sometimes vertigo) it would cause before the surgery. I only felt the wobbliness and mild dizziness I’ve been dealing with during recovery and was amazed. That’s another huge deal. I’d gotten to the point before surgery that my anxiety would flare up pretty bad before showers because I was anticipating the dizziness and/or vertigo I’d have to deal with. Now this was quite a long shower, had to wash my hair many times, etc, to feel clean, and it felt wonderful being in the water. My mom, who had been sitting in the bathroom in case I needed her, helped me out of the tub safely and I was then able to dry off and get dressed. I did it! I was fucking EXHAUSTED, but I did it! And yes, I dressed in PJs, lol. Hey, I wasn’t planning on going anywhere and wanted to be comfy! Then I took a well-earned nap while the blanket and sheets were being washed.
Tumblr media
I also have a new picture from yesterday (post-op day 23). My scar looks amazing, except for that tiny bit right in front of my ear that I scratched. Oops!
So even though I didn’t do much yesterday, I accomplished A LOT! And I’m super proud of myself. Oh, funny stuff. I was so tired after the shower that I was having trouble thinking of words when I was talking, and I remember one in particular that was pretty funny, at least to me. I was trying to think of the word “pillowcase” and for the life of me I couldn’t. I finally came up with “papercloth” even though I knew it was wrong. I guess it was one of those things where you had to be there, but I was saying some pretty funny things because I couldn’t always think of the right word! Lol. Oh, and this was before my nap!
Let’s see... today... post op day 24. I haven’t really done anything. I slept without the wedge and did great, so I’m happy about that! Currently I’m laying with the wedge just to rest and ice my head for a bit. The temporal muscle will hurt for a while as it heals since it had to be, basically, sliced open and pulled apart before being put back together. The Advil/Tylenol/ice regimen I have going is definitely making this recovery easier than last year’s. Last year I think the pain sort of scared me, so I wasn’t moving the muscle. This year I’m not holding back, I’m doing the listed things, and letting myself open my mouth wide to eat, even if it hurts, and opening my mouth even wider when I yawn knowing that it will hurt. By keeping the muscle active and stretching it out will help make the recovery easier.
Ok, maybe I’ll write more later, but that’s all I have in me for now.

La Primavera (Edition 1/5), Falk Kastell
This photographic interpretation is inspired by the work of Sandro Botticelli. During the Renaissance era, Botticelli painted a wonderful painting called "La Primavera" I reinterpreted the time, mood and figures that Botticelli shows and used handcrafted paperclothes with gold-leafed dried plants and flowers, to illustrate the love for detail and observation of nature prevalent in the Renaissance time. The dress as well as the background is made entirely from paper and dried plants, by the artist Susanna Cianfarini. http://www.susannacianfarini.de/
