The sun was already setting, dunking the City in an orange hue. Even though it was already late afternoon, the streets of the Tokyo were still buzzing with life.

Summerly month were quite enjoyable after all and somehow making the City more lively.

You passed through the crowd of people, trying your best not to get pushed around too much. Businesswomans and mens could be a bit ruthless, when it comes to clock out and being on their way home.

You clutched the strap of your purse a bit tighter and holding the Paperbag more to your chest, not wanting to get the pastries  squished.

You had brought the pastries on your way to the Police Station. Couldn´t really stop yourself from it, after they looked so alluring tasty.

Since your Boyfriend of an Detective had texted you that he couldn´t make it to dinner, once again, you decided to bring him and his colleagues something to snack on. 

Being once an Investigatives Assisstens, you knew what price it brings to work in that kind of Job field. 

So you weren´t angry at him, whenever he had to cancelled anything you two planned. Simply because you understood.

Entering the building and getting your Visitor pass, you were hit with a wave of nostlagie and a bit of melchoanly. You remembered your time here; from an Intern all the way to Investigatives Assisstens and perhaps at some point an Rank higher.

You loved your job with all it ups and downs and with the good and bad side of being in the Police. 

But after what happened, back then, you quitted your job. Couldn´t take the stress nor the pain anymore. Now you worked as a Secretary and liked it so far.

You shook your head a bit, wanting to get away from those old scarring thoughts, before entering the room before you. 

Shinichi looked up from the files he was studying, already having a guess who it was. You.

“Why are you here?” his question sounded harsher as he intended, perhaps the lack of sleep and an feeling of hunger was getting to him.

You weren´t even offended in the slightest, accustomed to it. A harsher sound of voice was some kind of Police trait. You smiled at them, showing of the Bakery bag.

“Since you´re gonna miss dinner again, I thought I would bring you and the guys something.” 

Yato was already on his feet, taking the bag from your hand and rushing off to the Cafeteria. The others following soon after, wanting to have a piece too before Yato would eat it all. Before they were completely out of sight, the guys were giving you their thanks.

Shinich scratched his cheek a bit, not sure if he should stood up to greet you or to just wait till you a seat next to him. 

Even after all those years of you being his Girlfriend, you still looked stunning as ever—just like the first time he has meet you. 

“You didn´t have to, I would have brought me—” “You would have brought you a few cans of Coffee, yeah yeah Mister Holmes, I know. Those pastries were too good to pass though and you guys need something more than just a Graola Bar.” You said to him and taking a seat next to him.

Shinichi takes your hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. You laid your head on his shoulder and for a moment you both enjoyed the quiet tranquillity of each other.

Such time of being near each other was rare and more than just shortcut as of current. The cases were piling up, like an overfilled paperbin, on his desk. Leaving Shinichi with guilt, whenever he comes back home—way past midnight—and seeing you curled up on the bed. Wearing his shirts and being huddelded under tons of blankets, even now in the heat of summer. He knew you weren´t cold because of Body temperature. It was a sort of emotional coldness you were feeling. 

And all because of him. Just like the accident, which has cost your job and part of your back. Leaving it in a permanent scar.

“How about I treat you to some dinner next time?”

“Don´t plan anything. Another case will properly pop up as soon as we take a seat at whatever restaurant. No, this is just fine, just you and I. But perhaps you could clock out for once a bit early this time and then we could cuddle? Because damn Shin, I do miss my great boyfriend of an detective.” Your voice was soft as ever, almost whispering as if you didn´t want to disturbed the silence.

Shinichi pulled you more towards him, kissing the crown of your head and nuzzling into your neck. 

He couldn´t believe how lucky he was with you. 

Shinichi loved you, even more than his Love for Holmes.
