@papavereae
it had been a long time since the god of death had been off the isle - except for the brief moment where he had gotten off to help wake the sleeping princess for mal - and the first thing he does once he’s free is search out persephone and poppy, a smile on his face when he sees poppy. she’s grown up since he’s last seen her but she looks so much like seph that he has no trouble recognizing her.  “ look at you, all grown up. ”

Thinking about planning out and growing an Ovid garden a la a Shakespeare garden (I.e. a garden with all the flowers plants mentioned by Ovid in his corpus)
Mainly due to this passage:
illa legit calthas, huic sunt violaria curae,
illa papavereas subsecat ungue comas:
has, hyacinthe, tenes; illas, amarante, moraris:
pars thyma, pars rorem, pars meliloton amat.
plurima lecta rosa est, sunt et sine nomine flores;
ipsa crocos tenues liliaque alba legit,
“That girl gathers marigolds, violet beds are the concern of this girl. That girl clips poppy heads with her nails. You, iris, fascinate these girls; you, amaranth, entertain those girls. Part love wild thyme, part love the rose, part love yellow clover. Roses had been gathered the most, and there were flowers without names, too. Persephone herself picked fine crocus and white lilies.”
–P. Ovidius Naso, Fastorum Libri Sex, Liber IV.436-442

This blog was once just karuna's personal and a miscellaneous blog with no common thread to tie it all together, but now she's officially given up trying to pretend like classics isn't her life. It was time for a change and a more classics-y username (it’s my favorite Latin word! It means of poppies!) so here we are!
