Red Riding Hood (Hybrid Edition!)
Little Yuuji was supposed to be home hours ago. So preoccupied with his basket of flowers and herbs cradled to his chest, he'd taken a wrong turn at the river and found himself lost in a vast stretch of woodland he'd never encountered before.
But he was not scared!
Not even when it was long past sunset, and his Papa's warnings of beasts in the woods weighed heavy on his mind...
(Word Count: 1708)
Yuuji was not lost. He was just taking the long way home.
He was ten now and had begged and begged and begged his Papa to let him forage on his own. He knew the woods well, he said. He knew the best spots with the healthiest, most fragrant flowers and the most delectable herbs. He could tell the poisonous plants from the edible and medicinal.
He had wanted this so badly, for so long. To show his worth to his bigger, so much stronger Papa.
And he'd finally acquiesced, letting Yuuji out of the den on his own, draped in a red cloak around his shoulders to keep the sun off of him and a woven basket to hold all his goodies.
"You must return before sunset," Papa had said, adjusting the ties to Yuuji's cloak so they'd hold fast, "And never-"
"Never stray from the trail!" Yuuji said, hooves tapping against the soft earth with impatience. He couldn't wait to explore the woods without the overbearing eye of his father. He knew that as long as he stayed within the land he'd grown up in, he'd be completely fine.
Now... Yuuji was not lost. And he was not afraid, either.
Even though he'd been so concerned with keeping all his foraged goods in his basket, protecting them from the water's spray, that he must've followed the wrong fork off the river. One was supposed to lead to home, another to the valley below, and the others led deeper into the woods. Through territory that was not marked by his father and whose terrain Yuuji had never seen before.
As soon as he realized his mistake, as soon as he realized he should've passed by familiar boulders and spiraling trees within the hour, he hurried back to the main body of the river. But looking at it from outside his Papa's territory, Yuuji had been horrified to see that none of the creeks and branches looked familiar anymore.
He trotted back and forth across a good length of the river, tail twitching with unease and his ears pinned flat against his head, trying to make heads or tails of what he saw. Yuuji also tried to scent the air, to see if he could catch a trace of his Papa. But the wind was unkind that day, blowing from behind him.
Yuuji finally picked the branching creek that he was certain looked familiar and followed it.
That was hours ago.
It was dark, now. And cold. The air was frigid even though his lower half was protected by his speckled fur. Yuuji clutched his basket to his chest with one arm and gripped his cloak with the other. Tiny, spiny thorns that grew low to the ground kept snagging on his little hooves and making him stumble.
Yuuji huffed and whined under his breath, scared of getting a face full of barbs should he fall.
The moon in the sky was obscured by dense clouds and the chill bit at his face and stung his eyes. Yuuji couldn't smell or see the path home, but refused to let himself stop. Even if his hooves did hurt. It was better to keep moving, right?
At least he had his warm cloak with its soft hood.
Every few dozen paces, Yuuji would also pause by a tree and rub his side against it. He knew it wasn't always a good idea to leave your scent out in the wild, but what if Papa was looking for him?
No, he thought. Papa was most certainly looking for him. And he might even be close! He was an excellent tracker, after all. So weighing the risks in his mind, Yuuji decided it was better to leave a trail for his Papa to follow.
As he brushed his flank against yet another towering oak, it was that moment he heard a snapping sound from behind him. Yuuji froze, ears splayed and listening. Breath held.
Papa had always warned him of beasts that roamed the woods, monsters that would gladly devour a little deer like him if given the chance.
When nothing followed the snapping branch, Yuuji dared to take another step forward, into the unknown. And another, and another.
He pulled a flower from his basket and nibbled on it to calm his nerves.
Then the wind shifted. Yuuji's head snapped to the side as he took in the heavy scent of musk mixed with something acrid and sharp. Blood.
Yuuji swallowed, throat dry.
He ran.
Ignoring the thorns scratching his legs, he kept his head low as he plowed through the dense undergrowth.
There was no howl or roar from behind him, only the unmistakable sounds of crushed grass and snapping twigs as something chased after him.
Yuuji knew he was small, but he was fast. And if there were endless predators who would gladly slaughter him if given the chance, Yuuji recalled his Papa's voice telling him to never give them the opportunity at all.
So he. Kept. Running.
Relying purely on his agility and instincts, he cut around trees and dashed over boulders as they came into view. Yuuji didn't dare look behind him, knowing in his heart and gut that death was still on his heels.
His eyes burned as his heart heaved and buckled under the strain of keeping him going. He never should've left home.
Oh, Papa...
Yuuji yelped as he hit a steep decline and tumbled over the side of a hill. He lost his basket and heard his cloak rip as it snagged on thorns.
He hit the ground hard and gasped as the air was knocked from his lungs. Even so, Yuuji scrambled on all fours to try to force himself back up. He was cut up and aching but none of his legs felt broken and that's what mattered most.
As he stood on trembling legs, energy shot from his initial sprint, Yuuji shuddered at the sensation of being watched. As if possessed, his head raised and forced him to witness the looming predator bearing down on him from the top of the hill.
His breath caught in his throat. It was another hybrid, a pale face smiling at him with bared fangs and outstretched claws.
A mountain lion.
Yuuji couldn't move, couldn't speak.
Please...
His face was damp, his eyes hot.
As the lion licked their lips, poised to lunge, Yuuji felt another shiver race down his back.
The fickle wind brought a new scent with it, one of pine and a different kind of musk. A scent that promised teeth and a snarling maw. Yuuji very nearly raised himself on his aching hind legs to better catch it, not daring to believe it was real.
The lion lunged at the same time a wolf's howl shattered the silence.
Yuuji threw himself backward, a hind leg snagging on a thicket of brambles and making him fall. The lion landed right in front of him, fangs and eyes glinting in the light. The only thing they seemed to care about was claiming Yuuji as their meal.
"Papa!" he cried.
And the wolf appeared. He came bounding over the crest of the hill with his teeth bared. The lion was swift, though, and twisted to strike at Papa mid-air. The two fell in a heap and rolled in a blinding, furious clash of claws and teeth.
The lion raked its claws down Papa's side, spilling red into the earth. Papa snarled and thrashed, using his strong hind legs to kick the lion off of him. As the other predator hit the base of a tree, Papa lunged.
Yuuji watched, breath held, as the fatal blow was made.
Papa's teeth sank into the lion's throat. There was more thrashing after that, more claws and red. But Yuuji had seen his Papa fight many other predators before, and only one ever walked away alive.
He touched the cloak wrapped around his shoulders; it'd been a gift from his Papa, of course. The precious, warm fur from an array of red foxes that tried their luck hunting Yuuji. They'd all met their end at his Papa's hand, and he'd taken what was useful from them to keep Yuuji warm.
The lion's light was fading now. Their eyes grew glassy as the moonlight ceased to reflect so clearly in them. Papa thrashed and dashed the dying predator against the rough tree bark for good measure. Then he dropped the corpse and panted into the cold night air, a paw wrapped around his bleeding wounds.
Yuuji tried to stand.
At the sound of rustling underbrush, Papa's eyes snapped toward him. He rushed to Yuuji's side and helped him slip free of the brambles.
A tongue warmed by spilled blood lapped at Yuuji's hair and face, single-minded and fervent as it cleaned away the dirt and tears. Maybe he was also bleeding from his fall, Yuuji couldn't tell. His run had exhausted him.
"Papa, I'm sorry," he said, chest heaving. "I'm sorry."
His Papa carefully nosed at Yuuji's chest and arms before combing his back and his lower body for further injuries. Papa finally looked up when he was satisfied in his search. He held Yuuji close and invited him to nuzzle against the crook of his Papa's neck.
He did so, as if to hide from the moonless sky and the ruthless world.
"Shush, Yuuji. It's alright. It's alright... now, why don't we go home?"
He nodded, desperate to return to the den his Papa made for them, deep in his own territory, safer there than anywhere else in the world.
A world that'd left him alone and orphaned when he was the smallest of fawns. A world where he would've starved or been eaten had not a kindly wolf taken pity on him.
As they left behind the cooling body of the lion to the elements, Yuuji held onto his Papa's hand the whole way home. He saw the red staining Papa's usually-pristine golden coat, but he carried himself as if he weren't injured at all.
Once they were home and wounds were carefully cleansed, Yuuji slept cradled against Papa's side, nestled upon a bed of furs. And he slept well, knowing he was safe and loved.

Papa Mama, Kiss!
Nanami Kento, girl dad, and how the small commands an almost-2year-old can etch into his heart.
A/N: Thanks @pseudowho for the gentle nudge to write this one out. And for everyone else, if it's not obvious, based on real events.
WC: 1.4K
Fatherhood, raising and nurturing children to become their best selves. To give them wings and teach them to fly on their own. This is what Nanami Kento dreamed of for years. But almost two years in, his daughter was testing his last thread of patience.
“Papa, milk!” Kento returns with a glass of milk.
“Papa, tea!” Kento blinks, and returns with a glass of tea, finishing off the milk for himself along the way.
“Milk?” Kento sighs. Just as he starts to lift himself from his chair, you put your arm on his.
“Sweetest, could you take a sip of the tea first?” you offer the glass to your daughter, and she happily starts to drink the water, quickly emptying the cup. Sufficiently satiated, she goes back to eating her lunch.
You shoot your husband a soft smile, you’re met with a weary, but loving gaze in return. Features worn by time, bolstered by love, and cut by the effort of child rearing.
You both had done your research, coming to similar conclusions with differing approaches on how to tackle the approaching “Terrible Twos.”
Kento couldn’t understand the parenting blogs, as they made any solutions to challenges seem so…. simple to solve.
“Guaranteed to solve purple crying with one simple trick!” “Sleep training made easy! You’ll have quiet nights in less than a week!” “10 steps to handling a temper tantrum in public. Number 6 will surprise you”
But every solution seemed to be milquetoast, at best, and unhelpful at worst. But almost two years in, he started to get the hang of things. The secret is that his daughter was her own person and required him to think on his feet. And despite the new levels of exhaustion he had reached, especially in the early days, Nanami Kento was euphoric to see his daughter every morning. He missed her in the depths of his heart every second she was at daycare, or even just with you running errands.
Kento was a modern dad, bucking the trend by taking the full year of paternity leave along with you. Reassuring you that there would still be an open spot in daycare once it was time to return to work. And he was right. He helped fill out the pages and pages of paperwork. And choosing the 13 facilities to rank in hopes you were offered a spot at your number 1? Of course, your salaryman husband excelled at sorting the data and organizing the thick booklets of information.
When it came time to drop off your daughter on her first day, and it was only for two hours, you both arrived with big, nervous, first-time parent jitters. And were the only full family there in the morning drop off. The other parents sharing knowing glances at you and Kento fumbling clothes, trying to find the bins you needed, almost dropping the thermometer, and giving maybe one, two, three, too many kisses to your daughter as you handed her off.
The walk to the local coffee shop was filled with dreams of what fun your daughter would have with her class. Kento was hiding his nerves well, but you could see right through him. You saw the tremor in his hand, the nearly imperceptible gravel in his voice. He didn’t hold back for the other parents’ sake; he’d never do that. But he didn’t want your daughter to catch his nervous and scared energy. He knew if she felt his anxiety, it would make handing her off so much harder. He couldn’t bear to hear your cries of separation.
So, when you both returned two hours later, Kento lit up with the biggest smile and the most eager arms as the workers handed your daughter off to him.
“Oh, my love, I’ve missed you! What did you play with? Who did you meet? Please tell me all about your day, spare no details,” your doting husband cooed at your one-year-old. He continued an entire conversation with her, even if words didn’t form from the baby babble.
You spoke with the workers to understand how she fared for the short visit. They told you how she didn’t cry not even once. And how tomorrow your daughter can stay even longer, through the morning snack. It made you so happy to get such fantastic feedback.
After a few weeks, you all settled into a lovely routine. Both of you working from home left flexibility for drop off and pick up. And as your daughter became more capable of bigger play times, Kento would take her out to the local park so that you could make dinner most days. You loved the peace and quiet, he loved the bonding time.
As your daughter’s language built up over the months leading up to her second birthday, she was beginning to string together commands. Able to ask for help, food, drink, toys. She even started to command who could sit next to her and then tell them to “moot (move)” away and a new person would be not-so-gently asked to sit next to her.
“Papa,” she would point to a spot on the ground next to her, in the middle of the playground. And Kento is not the type to ignore the requests of a child. He took a polite squat next to your daughter, waiting with bated breath for the next command she would give.
“Mmm. Ah…up,” she reached her hands up in the air.
“Do you want up?” Kento reached over to lift his little one up in the air with a light, controlled, toss.
“Papa!”
You sat on a nearby bench watching, camera clicking over and over, catching the precious moments to share with your friends and family across the world.
That night ran like every other, a well-oiled machine. You took a bath with your daughter, Kento took her for a fresh diaper, clean pajamas, and to help him make, and for her to drink, the nightly milk bottle.
And the final step, you welcomed a sleepy toddler into your weary arms. Tonight, she was laden down with her stuffies of choice, a small Sylveon and Doraemon.
“Okay, let’s cuddle up here, please,” you coax a sleepy toddler into your lap and to lay against your chest. It seems like every day it gets harder as she grows bigger. What happened to your teeny tiny bub?
“Good night, I love you,” Kento leans down to give a kiss to the tiny (well, not so tiny anymore) forehead. “And I love you,” he leans over to your waiting lips as you tilt your head up. Every night you get a soft, but gently urgent kiss from Kento.
“Papa iss?” you both break from the kiss to hear a tired request. Your daughter had sat up from your chest and looked expectantly at Kento.
“Of course,” he leans down for another kiss, this time her cheek. A satisfied smile spreads across her face.
“Mama iss?”
“Yes, love.”
“Mama papa iss?” and you looked up at Kento to make sure you heard her correctly.
“Did she…?”
“You heard her now,” and Kento leans down for another kiss, this time he lingers a heartbeat longer. As he pulls away, in the dim haze of the nightlight he catches your waterline beginning to fill.
“Oh, baby, you’re so sweet,” you coo at your daughter, pulling her into a tender hug.
“Good night, you two,” Kento is standing by the door, soft smile from lips to eyes. He slips out and gently shuts the door.
After you spend a few minutes cuddling with your daughter, you gently lay her in the crib and quietly slip out of the bedroom, leaving her to take the last step to dreamworld.
You sit down on the couch next to Kento. Still feeling the buzz from twenty minutes ago, he reaches over to cup your face.
“How are you feeling?”
“I am going to ride that high for weeks. I can’t believe it,” your eyes can’t hold back the tears of love and happiness. You feel every bit of the dichotomy between the hard moments and the soaring highs of happiness.
Kento could feel his heart grow and swell. The small command would replay in his mind until his dying breath. It would be a story he shared as the father of the bride. An endearing tale he treasured, a memory he could rely on to get him through overtime.
Coaxing you into his lap, Kento presses his lips to yours much more urgently than the last kiss.

⊹₊。ꕤ˚₊⊹ random days with papamin
𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: nanami kento x fem!reader, papamin!au, househusband!nanami, married life, fluff
a/n: I love papamin!au sm. I'm loving the headcanon that he's a girl dad.
𐙚 candies
another day with nanami kento and his daughter left home as soon you went to work this morning. particularly, it's not boring that they are home. he makes sure that she's entertained since she's very in need of attention from her parents. a little while later, kento checks their food and supplies and thought to go out. he then dresses his daughter so they can go to the grocery store.
“papa, may we buy this?” she asks as she shows a bag of candy— those orange shaped gummies that's quite popular lately to kids to be exact, to her papa. kento was a bit busy reading the contents of the seasoning that his attention caught. he was planning to buy some ingredients for tonight's dinner. going back, his attention went to his daughter, who is still showing the candies to him. “sweety, you just placed a pack of gummy before that.” after being said, she looks down at the cart and noticed the pack of gummy bear candies she just placed before.
she looks at kento again and he looks back at her without any word. just staring at each other, as if they're reading each other's minds. ah.. there she goes, giving him the puppy eyes. she knows that she's a daddy's girl, therefore she's going to beg for another pack of candies without any use of verbal communication. not until she gives up
“more please?” she asked politely. kento stares at his child again, he wants to say no, but she might be upset to him if he does. while thinking of the right answer, he then remembers your last scolding to your daughter being stubborn after you said no on buying her a new toy, resulting kento thought to take it as an advantage.
“you want mama angry?”
“no, papa.” she quickly answered.
“good.” he simply answers, he even noticed a hint of pout that forms in his daughter's face. it makes him want to chuckle but he hold it back, she's cute after all. victory
𐙚 first day
“papa, we go home now?” his now 5 year old daughter asks as soon they arrived at her school. there's always things for first days and first times, she was all prepared for the special day, she's neatly wearing her ironed uniform and he even mastered to tie her hair into pigtails— all looking pretty. she was so excited these past days because she's going to school as a kindergarten, but right now it seems the bright and thrilled daughter you have turns out to be so nervous and scared. obviously, wants to go home as soon she saw she'll be alone inside a classroom filled with other kids she doesn't know. especially she even saw other kids crying while clinging to their parents begging and telling them to leave at once.
“no, sweety. we just got here and it's your first day.” kento kneels on her height level and patted her head. he notices the quite fear look painted in her face as he lightly pinch her cheek to catch her full attention. “hey sweety, it's gotta be alright, papa will be watching you from outside.” he assures and holds her small hands as she nods. thinking that there is nothing to worry about since she have her papa around.
“me do great, papa!”
“that's my princess, good job.” he smiles and walks to the entrance with her holding her papa's hand.
𐙚 princess
“papa! me going to be princess!” she excitingly says while jumping. kento hums as his lips curve into a smile, looking at her daughter while watching her favorite princess movie. cheering and singing here and there and showing you both how she twirls and dance, imagining like a ‘real’ princess while wearing her new dress you both gifted.
“you're already a princess, dear.” you said and your daughter clings to your lap. “papa will be my prince!” her eyes sparkles and you both look at kento who has a soft look to his world. he can't help but smile, kento stands up and holds both her hands since she was raising it. your husband and daughter dance in front of you, filling with laughter and giggles your home. “mama dance too!” she reaches her hand to you— you have no hesitation to join your dearests.
“anything you want as long its you, our princess.”

Okay okay, I have another idea-
Yandere dad Nanami x Nanami reader
I've made yall see the menace Fushiguro reader who we all love and adore, but let's talk about Nanami's daughter who is an absolute angel and polar opposite to Fushiguro reader.
Child reader is just the most well behaved kid, listens to her father always, and since Nanami is raising her, she's also going to be very good in her studies because papa Nanami is a very good teacher. I mean, reader is definitely on top of her class and has a whole wall dedicated to her awards and medals. She just has to show off her math skills when she plays cafe (because obv she's gonna be a baker who bakes fresh bread daily for Nanami to buy and make sandwiches) and uses Monopoly money.
And when I say reader is polite, that is the understatement of the history. She just cannot bear to offend anyone! She has to put "-san" with everyone's name and has to address them correctly. "Yuji-san! Megumi-San!" And "pervert-San!" Which is Gojo, because of course Nanami has told her to beware of him and only address him as "pervert-san".
"But my name's Gojo!" He tells you, but you're so distressed because dad told you to call the white haired man wearing a blindfold/glasses "pervert-san" and it'd be rude to address him as anything else!
And Nanami adores his kid so much. She's such a perfect child, never breaks rules (don't talk to strangers or Pervert san.) and is such a goody-goody. He is a present father, he makes time for you. The Jujutsu sorcerers can wait, the world can be saved by someone else, but he needs to attend your school play at all costs. And even when hes not around for the day, he has raised you to be a very responsible child- like you even go get the groceries on your own when dad is late! (Like that Japanese show in which they send kids to shop on their own)
But of course, there are times when he needs to be away for longer periods, so he needs to hire a babysitter. His top choices: Shoko(although hes a little hesitant since you have a morbid curiosity learning and Shoko would happily let you accompany her to the morgue), Yuta, Maki, Megumi + Yuji + Nobara.
Who is NEVER allowed to babysit you? Gojo.
Gojo babysits anyway. (He fr steals you from Megumi trio)
And Nanami just comes home to Gojo and reader eating takeout and he's just like "Y/n, how could you let Pervert san in your home and eat with him?" And reader's just on the brink of tears and is trying to defend herself "b-but you said to be polite to guests! And Pervert-san bought food for me. Wouldn't it be rude to not share it with him?" *reader's teary eyes* and then Gojo is like "you'd rather let your child starve? Can't you see how tiny she already is?!" *Gojo's teary eyes* and Nanami pops a vein "it's not cute when you do it!"And then kicks Gojo out of the house.
Even though reader can dress herself up appropriately, she still has to have her hair done by Nanami, no matter what age. At some point, reader probably realises that it's something Nanami needs more than she does. It's a tradition, you think, but it's actually a coping mechanism for Nanami to deal with the fact that you're "growing up" and don't ask him to watch cartoons with you or read you bedtime stories anymore🥺
And Sukuna??? He takes one look at you and he's already decided he's gonna be mean to you, but then the more time you spend with him and Yuji, the more he realises.... its just not worth being mean to the only person who is so sweet to him and actually greets and talks to him like he's an individual person and not just a parasite inside Yuji's skin. Like reader just goes "Sukuna-san! I'm painting Yuji-san's nails but he can't pick a color. Will you help?" And he's like "Alright, fuck it I'm taking this brat with me when I comit mass murder. She's safe."
I feel like Nanami will allow reader to have a fairly normal childhood, so he keeps his yandere tendencies at a bay. It's when you start growing up and as he says "the others try to taint you with momentary pleasures" that his yandereness begins to show. Honestly, it's just more of his protective tendencies coming to light than anything else. He thinks people don't have your best interests in and sometimes he's right, but how else will you learn if you don't experience it?
Also, if you do end up having cursed energy and the ability to see curses, I think that's when Nanami starts spiralling down. He does not want you to become a Jujutsu sorcerer, he wants you far far away from the Jujutsu world completely. He can't- he can't allow what happened to Haibrara happen to you. He can't allow your innocence and naivety to be tainted by the horrendous world of curses. He'd rather risk you hating him forever as he locks you away than allow you to put your life at risk for others.
You are his priority. Your safety is his priority. You'll understand in due time why he did what he did, so while his heart does break hearing you cry and beg to be let out of your room, he doesn't regret putting you in there one bit.
Nanami sighs as he continues prepping your dinner. Guess he'll have to add some crushed sleeping pills so that you don't get sick from crying your bodyweight out (or more like he can't bear to see you in such a pitiful state.)
God save the poor souls who do end up kidnapping you.

Bathtime
Includes- Toji, Sukuna, Nanami, Gojo, Geto
Sukuna-
He hates having to bath his daughter, she was a little menace, it was great that she was a menace to other people, just not to him. He hated having a hassle, normally if someone did that to him, he'd just kill them, but since it was his daughter he couldn't. "Get in the bath you brat" she was practically gripping onto the man as she didn't want to take a bath, she just wanted to run around the estate, much to his nerves. "No!" Trying to bite him, despite her teeth not even being fully developed yet. Faint blows being landed on his stomach, not doing much damage as he didn't even realise it was happening. After somehow finding a way to get her in the bath, she wasn't going to stop fighting. Throwing a rubber duck at him, only promoting him to remove all the toys, he was being nice by even adding them in. "Go away! I don't want a bath" trying to climb out, his hands keeping her at bay. "I don't care"
Nanami-
He's not a fan of bathtime due to his daughter always trying to splash him. Only volunteering when he noticed you were too tired or weren't in the mood to do it, which was most days since she was such a hassle, trying to negation bringing in her toys, clearly getting it from you since Nanami didn't act like that. "Let me bring my bear" holding the teddy bear in her arms, she brought it everywhere with her. "You can't, it'll get wet" stroking her cheek. "He won't get wet!" Practically begging for the bear to come in with her.
Somehow he agreed, just because it was his daughter. Sat in the bathtub with her bear sat on the side, trying to dry it since it fell in so many times it was soaked. "Oh no, mr snuggles is wet" leaning over to grab the toy. "I told you he'll get wet" handing her the bear as she hugged it, he didn't even know why she was so obsessed with it.
Geto-
His daughter loves bathtime with him, he makes sure that she enjoys it by adding her favourite toys along with bubbles and making it themed. Taking the purple headband off her head, along with her dummy, putting it to the side as he dipped her in the water first, already kicking about as she reached back up for him. "I promise I'll make it quick" sitting her in the bath as he poured some water along her body, making sure he was wet before putting some soap on. She was reality calm when it came to baths, other than the occasional cries to be held close. Taking he rout for the bath with a towel wrapped around her body, hands all along his shoulder as she was carried out of the room, taking in all her surroundings.
Gojo-
His son hates bathtime especially with him, always trying to put up a fight as he cried for you. He just wants much of a fan of his father. "Shush, I'm not gonna hurt you" pouring a cup of water along his head, just like you instructed him to, watching as it dropped down back into the bath. "See, it wasn't so bad" the second he said those words he started to tear up again, it had taken him so long for him to stop crying only for it to start all over again. "Your overreacting" hands splashing all around the bath as he got his father wet too, he wasn't thinking right because why didn't he just turn on his infinity? Non stop crying as he held him up, atleast he stopped the water from touching him, body dangling up in the air, dripping all the water off of him. "You want your mum?" Grabbing a nearby towel as he wrapped the poor kid in it. Nodding his head in response.
Toji-
It was so much easier to give her a bath when she was a baby, no objections or unnecessary fights. "You want your ma' to bathe you?" Dipping the kid in the water, he was tasked with giving his daughter a bath before bed, it was some of the worst Tim's to give her a bath since she was always so restless, especially since she had so much energy due to the cake. "Papa, I want the duck" she was obsessed with the stupid ducks, owning atleast 8, it was her favourite bath toy. "This one?" Showing the duck which had a purple shirt on. "No the other one" grabbing the pink one. "No!" Trying to climb out of the bath, he was easily distracted so it would be easy. "This one?" Just repeating the same words. "No" wet footsteps trailing towards the door. "Get your ass back here" dragging her back into the bathtub.

WHAT TO EXPECT - papa!nanamin
Chapter 2 of What to Expect has been uploaded! What whiplash going from writing a toxic Toji fic to updated my wholesome, tooth-rotting fluff of a papa!Nanamin fic.
What to Expect is the second installment in my papa!Nanamin series. The first is Parent-Teacher Conference so reading What to Expect might get a little confusing if you haven’t read that one, yet.
I absolutely adore writing Nanami as a dad, as a concerned partner watching as you bear pregnancy. Planning many more chapters and installments in my papa!Nanamin series.

can i request for a scenario where suguru is still good and brings mimiko and nanako to school, where he trains them together with satoru and guardian fem!reader, megumi and tsumiki? it would be cute all together and happy
A/N: HI THANK U ILY I am not 100% sure this is what u wanted but I just had this idea and ran with it also it was so fun to write a NOBODY IS DEAD WE ALL ARE HAPPY AU.
CW: Swearing? Fluff? Happy ever after kinda AU
Summary: The kids get to play with their cousins, Nanako and Mimiko.
“AUNTY Y/N!” Echoed across the field, the two high-pitched voices were only amplified by their excitement.
“Girls! Hi babies!” You kneel and scoop them both into a big squeezy hug.
“Where’s Uncle ‘Gogo?” The blonde girl asks. They both began calling your boyfriend Gogo when they were both only 3, and it stuck.
“He’s inside with your cousins! Where’s your papa?” You ask, wiping a smudge of chocolate off the dark-haired girl’s face.
“He went to go find Uncle ‘Toru, he has ‘Miki’s birthday present. Look what we got!” They cheer as both take out stuffed toys, one a ladybug and one a butterfly.
“Oh, they are so beautiful! Do they have names?” You ask, taking each girl by their tiny hands and walking inside to find the two men.
As you round the corner, you see them both smiling and laughing together, a huge box wrapped in yellow paper between them.
“UNCLE GOGO!” Your hands are left empty as the two girls barrel toward their favourite uncle (only uncle), he immediately scoops them both up onto his shoulders and spins them around, so you make your way to the other man.
“That is an exceptionally large box for a 9-year old’s birthday present, Suguru.” You raise your eyebrows at him, only to be met with a smirk.
“You’re the only good thing that came in a small package, Y/N/N.” He laughs, throwing a languid arm around your shoulders and pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“Do you guys have fun seeing your parents this weekend?” You ask.
“The girls did, I think my parents can’t see me when the girls are around.” He huffs a laugh, the Geto parents absolutely dote on the two girls.
“NANA! MIMI!” Another young girl voice nearly deafens you all.
Tsumiki and Megumi come into the room to see you all, after you had sent them to wash up after playing outside for so long.
“So, fucking loud.” Came a grumpy grumble from the 8-year-old Megumi.
“‘Gumi, remember what I said about swearing.” You chastise.
“Only do it at home or if someone’s being a real dickhead.” He recites your rule.
“Hey lil’ man, what’s up?” Suguru asks, ruffling the boy's hair.
“Eh, not much. I can summon Toad now.” The boy shrugs, he liked his Uncle Suguru – he was pretty chill.
“Nice one, kid. Show me later? If that’s okay with your mama?” Your brother-in-all-but-blood asks.
“Fine by me, I promised the girls I’d make them all their favourite flowers anyway. So, we can all have lunch outside?” You ask.
You turn around to find your boyfriend levitating with all three girls.
“It’s like having another kid. Can everyone help me take some food outside so we can have Tsumiki’s birthday picnic?” The kids each took a plate of stuff and then the two grown man children started a competition of who could carry the most plates, to which you quickly put a stop to – they invite disaster and usually you are an equal agent of their chaos, but you worked hard on this party food, goddamit.
Satoru then grabs the bag of gifts and Suguru takes his giant box.
As you’re all situated on the blue and white gingham picnic blanket you light the ‘9’ candle on the strawberry cake your adopted daughter requested. You all sing happy birthday to her, and she blows out the candle with a big huff. Megumi rolls his eyes, as if he wasn’t equally excited last December when it was his turn. He’s like Nanami, you think, acts all cool and indifferent but is actually a total teddy bear.
“Wanna open your gifts, ‘Miki?” Suguru asks.
She begins to unwrap them, Nanami had sent her the box set of Nancy Drew books, Utahime got her a cute heart shaped purse with her name on it, Yaga had made her a doll that dances to music and Shoko got her a Nerf Rebelle Bow and Arrow set – with a note that said, ‘now you can match your mom, aunty Koko’. Next was the twins, Nanako produced a gift bag with a set of hair chalk in loads of colours that Tsumiki made you promise you’d do for all the girls and Satoru later on. Mimiko got her a Tamagotchi in blue, her favourite colour.
Next up was her brother, Megumi was a fiery red and grumbled out a barely comprehensible’Happy birthday Tsumiki.’ This was truly a testament to how much he loved his sister, because for Megumi this was the equivalent of a gushing profession of sibling love and bond. He slid a pizza sized box at her to which she opened in delight to find a 160-piece art set. He had insisted on using his own pocket money for the gift, and you just melted. Tsumiki was a talented artist, and it was by far her favourite hobby. She couldn’t contain her excitement and tossed her arms around her brother (who looked surprisingly happy at this sudden affection).
“Cmere, doll. Open mine next.” Said Suguru, pushing the large box to her.
She rips open the paper and once again, squeals.
“A SKATEBOARD?!?! THANK YOU SO MUCH UNCLE SUGU!” She threw her arms around his hips, the man almost as tall as Satoru who was practically a giant to the kids.
“Mama, dad – look! It’s blue!”
“What?! That’s so awesome ‘Miki! Now you can come skating with me and Uncle Sugu!” Satoru adds, equally as excited – he could now teach her something cool with his best friend.
After a moment of trying to balance on her new board, you usher her to you as Satoru comes back out of the house with an absolutely ginormous box. Of course, you knew what this one was. The terrible wrapping job was you and your boyfriend’s handiwork.
“Tsumiki, this one is from us.” Satoru says as he sits the box on the grass, and wraps an arm around your waist, pressing a kiss to your temple as you rest a hand on his chest.
“I hope you like it sweet girl, happy birthday!” You grin, the excitement for her to open it is bubbling inside you.
She rips off the paper and…
Silence.
Wait… silence?
Did she not like it? Oh my god, are they tears?!
You and Satoru rush to her.
“Babygirl what’s wrong? Is it not okay? Is it the wrong colour? We can get you another one! Or every colour? Do you want to get all the colours? I’ll go right now.” Satoru says, as you frantically nod in agreement.
Tsumiki just tosses herself like a rag doll between you both and wraps her small arms around you necks.
“It’s just so pretty! I wanted it so much and I can’t believe you guys got it for me, I love it so much. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.” She says between heaving sobs.
You both sag in relief. You’d gotten a similar, if more understated reaction from Megumi a few months ago when he opened his birthday present. You’d converted a walk-in closet in the spare bedroom to make him a library for him. The floor was covered in cushions and bean bags, there was space for his dogs to sit with him, floor to ceiling shelves filled with books lining the room and in a hidden compartment was a PlayStation for him to play on. You’d also gotten a mini fridge so he could have snacks in there. You’ve lost count of how many nights Satoru has had to pick him up after he’s fallen asleep reading in his ‘library’ curled up on a bean bag and tuck him into bed. The sparkles in his eyes as he’d opened the door to the room may have been the most special thing you’d seen ever. Your cottage wasn’t huge, but the spare room closet was just a wasted space, so it made perfect sense to use it as the introverted child’s escape while also encouraging him to keep up his love of books.
But right now, you had a happy sobbing 9-year-old on your hands. Satoru looked at you ever her shoulders, a huge white, dazzling grin on his handsome face. Some people might think you spoil the kids, but Tsumiki spent too long being the grown up in her house and Megumi spent too long trying to not be a burden to her – they deserved this. They’re the most amazing kids.
Satoru winks at you, mouthing ‘we did good, princess.’ To which you blow him a kiss, because yeah, you guys did good.
“Do you wanna open it?” You ask her, grin on your face.
“Fuck yeah!” She adds.
“I’ll let that one slide.” You laugh at her.
She tears the box apart, and there in all its glory is her present.
A 5 story, 4 foot tall, 5-foot wide, Victorian style baby blue dollhouse. It was something every little girl dreamed of you remember passing them in stores at Christmas and nearly drooling looking at them when you were her age. She’d always spoken about wanting a dollhouse, so you decided to go all out with it.
Inside the house was boxes and boxes of furniture, tiny wallpaper and paint, even tiny kitchen utensils and soft furnishings – all ready for her to decorate the interior however she wants.
You had used your technique to even make a little everlasting garden in the front before it had all been wrapped up.
It truly was absolutely incredible, Tsumiki had dived right in and was examining everything and pointing it all out to you guys whenever she found something inside it.
“Look! A tiny cushion! It’s so cute! And oh my, a tiny teacup!” She showed you guys.
She invited Nanako and Mimiko to look with her, and even Megumi was curious about all of the tiny household goods – smiling when he sees a tiny dog bed and tiny dog bowls and a tiny cat scratch post.
“My birthday present from you guys was not half as cool as that.” Suguru elbowed you both.
“You’re 22 Suguru, do you want a dollhouse?” Which made him laugh, but Satoru’s mouth was agape.
“Suguru – how you wound me! We brought you to Bora Bora!” He mocks cries at this.
“Eh, not a dollhouse though, is it?” He smirks at his best friends' antics.
You look at the kids all playing on the blanket.
“Who’s birthdays next?” Suguru asks.
“Mine.” You smirk, eyebrows raised at the boys.
“Ha! You better pull up, ‘toru.” Geto laughs as Satoru smirks.
“Already sorted everything. Only the best for my princess.” He says, lifting you onto his lap for a kiss as you laugh at him - you’d told him you wanted a new pair of gardening gloves – but he’d give you the world if you asked for it.
You kiss him back, hands on his cheeks, stroking along his jaw.
“Ugh, you two are so gross and in love I hate it.” Suguru drawls, rolling his eyes.
Neither of you break away from the kiss, just both lift up a hand in his direction and raise your middle fingers.

Though bearing his mother’s surname, Megumi is every inch a Zen’in, with all the scorching pride and belligerence that damnable bloodline entails, just like his pops. And Zen’ins? They don’t back down from jackshit. More importantly, when a Zen’in starts throwing hands, they make damn sure to finish the fight too.
That’s exactly what this five-year-old hellion does on his very first damn day of school. Yup, Megumi’s out here wilding from day one, giving zero fucks.
The morning starts off so promising. Nanami gets Megumi and Tsumiki dropped off at school, greets the teachers all polite-like, maybe even gets a few soccer mom blushes with his handsome mug and gentlemanly manners. Then he heads back home to handle his cult assistant duties. Everything’s peachy.
Until they get that dreaded call from the school. Turns out little Megumi has started a full-on brawl during recess, taking on not one, not two, but three older boys all by himself. The reason? One of those little shits pulled Tsumiki’s hair. In Nanami’s book, that’s pretty reasonable grounds for an ass-kicking.
But of course, the school doesn’t quite see it that way. They demand Megumi and Tsumiki’s ‘parents’ get their asses down there stat for an urgent meeting. Clearly, this calls for the papabear himself – Gojo. Letting him handle it ends up being a colossal mistake, as they’ll all realize later.
Gojo swaggers into the principal’s office, arrogance cranked to 11, demanding to see his precious son right the hell now. Yeah, the boy’s a little roughed up from the rumble, but it ain’t shit compared to how he left those other punks.
So with all the fatherly responsibility of a dude playing house, Gojo swoops his son into his arms and croons, “There’s my little guy!” Then, ignoring the disapproving titters from the scandalized teacher and parents, he gets real serious and asks Megumi the hard-hitting question: “Did you at least win the fight?”
Megumi looks affronted that his old man would even need to ask such a question. With a haughty sniff, he crosses his bruised arms and declares, “Of course I won. You think those little punks could take me?”
A delighted squeal erupts from Gojo’s throat as he smothers Megumi in proud cuddles. “That’s my boy! Showing those chumps who’s boss from day one!”
The other adults in the room can only gape in speechless horror at this validating reaction, but Gojo remains elated at his minion’s feisty spirit and blatant disregard for authority. A real class act, that’s for sure.
Needless to say, the urgent parent meeting goes completely off the rails after Gojo’s proud papa display. The other fathers’ outrage reaches a fever pitch as Gojo brazenly concludes that those “little punks” deserved an ass-kicking for daring to pull his precious daughter’s hair. As if that toxic parenting stance isn’t inflammatory enough, he goes full supervillain with the added threat to the bullies – if they don’t stop with the ugly crying, he’ll just shave their damn heads so they’ll learn how important hair really is.
One particularly brave/stupid father finally loses his shit and makes the critical mistake of snapping at Gojo: “You disrespectful brat! Who the hell do you think you are?!”
Oh, one simply does NOT call Gojo fucking Satoru a brat and expect to walk away unscathed. Even the Council geezers know better than running their mouths like that in front of him.
So of course, Gojo goes completely bananas. He rolls up his sleeves, hissing like a cornered wildcat as his villain persona takes over. “Who you callin’ a brat, huh? You motherfuckers. I’ll show you…”
The other fathers, either possessed of a death wish or simply too snorted up on their own toxic masculinity to back down, begin squaring up as well. All hell promptly breaks loose in the principal’s office. Chairs are upended, spittle-laced threats hurtled back and forth like projectiles. The teachers and the principal have never seen such unhinged bullshit in all their careers.

Good morning! First of all, thank you for all your fics and stories. You have done so much, you made so many people happy! I would like to know one thing. After Satoru came back home, after that horrible incident in Shibuya, I wonder if Kouki asked about Nanami and Yaga? Like...Why don't Nana-chi and Yaga-tan visit us anymore? Where are they? When are they gonna come back?
Hi! Now you're making me cry, thank you so much for such kind words and whenever you guys visit and tell me how much my works makes you happy that also warms my heart and brightens my day so much!
Lemme do a small scenario for that, I'm a little out of disposition to write for a whole chapter of Clouds and Mochi at the moment do bear with me in this one
"Papa? Can we visit Nanachi? I miss him."
Kouki blink up to his Papa after Satoru read him a bedtime story.
"..." Satoru was tongue tied, unable to move from the chair as he look at his son tucked underneath the covers, waiting for his answer. How can he explain it to his four years old son without breaking the mochi's heart?
"Yaga-tan doesn't give me teddy bears anymore. He doesn't miss me? He never called me to visit him again," Kouki's lower lip jutted in disappointment. "Megu-nii and other brothers and sisters doesn't come to play with me anymore. Maki-nee promised to give me a bow but she doesn't visit me too."
Satoru smoothed his son's long arctic mane as he rambled.
"You want to see them?" He asked softly. Pushing his glasses higher to hide the faltering of his gaze.
"Umu," Kouki nod.
"We can visit them tomorrow, so you have to sleep now or else we'll be late." Satoru leaned down to kiss the mochi's forehead.
"Good night Papa!" Kouki smiled brightly, pleased that he's going to meet his favourite uncle and grandfather-figure tomorrow.
"G'night Kikufuku," Satoru switched off the lamp and quietly exited the room.
"I'll be right here," you pat Satoru's shoulders and sit on the bench underneath a large tree.
"Call me if anything happens." Satoru kissed your lips and soon the mochi interrupted.
"Papa, what's those stones?" Papa pointed to the large stones erected in lines.
"You'll know later, we need to get water first," Satoru tug the little mochi leaving you to get water from the well.
Kouki roamed his eyes but saw not a shadow of Nana-chi or Yaga-tan. Megu-nii and the others are not here too. This is the first time he visited large stones lined up, with carvings on the surface.
"Let's go," Satoru carried a pail and Kouki followed him. They arrived in front of a large stone with the carvings that read:
Nanami Family Grave
Satoru joined his hands and Kouki followed his Papa. After, Satoru poured water over the stone grave, slowly, to wash it and extended the dipper to his son.
"Pour water gently on the stone."
Confused, Kouki followed and soon Satoru lighted the candle and incense once again joining his hands to pray. Kouki watch his father with a complex look not understanding anything.
"Kikufuku," Satoru turned to Kouki after a long silence. "See this grave here, Nana-chi is resting here."
...
Kouki inclined his head to the side, waiting for his Papa to continue. What's Nana-chi doing in the stone?
"Nana-chi and Yaga-tan can't come visit us anymore because they're resting," Satoru held his son's arms.
"They can visit after they wake up," Kouki reasoned out.
"You see Kikufuku, when people are resting in the stones like this. They're gonna sleep forever."
"Forever?"
"They won't wake up anymore, they're gonna go to the other world and be reincarnated again." Satoru explained and watch Kouki's eyes watered.
"Nana-chi is not a stone!" He wailed, dropping to the ground and burst into cries. "N-nana—" he cried and cried unable to speak that Satoru could only watch him bawl his hearts out.
"It's alright," Satoru wipe the tears on his son's cheeks, "You can cry as much as you want. It's alright."
For a four years old, he couldn't really understand what his Papa meant about other world, reincarnated and whatever else earlier. But for Kouki the mere thought of Nana-chi and even Yaga-tan not coming to visit him and not waking up anymore is more than enough to break his heart apart.
"N-nana-c-chi!" Kouki hiccuped between sobs and hug the wet stone as Satoru watch him, rubbing his back and soothing him with his words until he grew tired and cried himself to sleep.
You watch Satoru carrying Kouki in his arms. Last night when he told you he's going to visit Nanami and Yaga-san's grave with Kouki you were worried and yet at the same time relieved that they're trying to face the reality.
Dead people won't come back. We can only pray for the safe passage of their souls.
"Is he alright?" You stood up and opened your arms for Satoru.
"He cried until he slept."
You watch Satoru hug his son's small body as close as possible to his arms. No words to offer you envelope your arms and stood in your tiptoes to kiss your husband's cheeks who look at you in silent adoration and gratitude.
"Let's go home Love?"
Later that night Kouki suddenly got a fever. And the doctor couldn't find anything wrong, later then surmised that it was from stress and it should go on it's own after a good rest. The whole time Satoru was there by Kouki's side to watch over the mochi.
"You should sleep you've been awake the whole night," you brush your thumb across his tired eyes.
"Later, when he wakes up, you should rest. It's not good for you and the baby," Satoru place his hand above your belly.
"I'll be oka—"
You stop when Kouki move and slowly blink to wake up, looking at you and Satoru with groggy eyes.
"How are you feeling sweetheart?" You asked and Kouki called for Satoru who immediately went to his son's side.
"Papa can we visit Nana-chi and Yaga-tan? I will bring them casse-croute and teddy bears so they won't get lonely when they're sleeping."
Satoru immediately nodded more than happy to see Kouki speaking and awake.
"Okay, we'll visit them. So get well soon Kikufuku. Got it?"
"Got it Papa."
"Go to sleep," Satoru urged him and kissed his forehead.
"Papa?" Kouki hummed, eyes starting to drop.
"Hmmm?"
"Love you," Kouki mumbled.
...
"I love you too Kikufuku."

Recess - Nanami Kento
Don’t mind if i do~ femme reader no content warnings, it’s just a little fluff :) 2.1k words
"Papa, do you like Miss (Y/N)?" The young voice of Kento's son sounded next to him as he walked the young boy to his second grade class.
"What do you mean?" A blush tinged Kento's ears; it was embarrassing his son could figure it out so easily.
"Well I always catch you lookin' at her when you drop me off...and you talk to her a lot sometimes..." The child didn't really have a lot to go off of and he squeezed his fathers hand as they came to an intersection.
"I like her a normal amount, Yuji." Just a few more blocks and Kento would be free from this.
"What's that mean?"
"We're just acquaintances." Kento picked up his pace just a little, eager to drop him off and staunchly avoid eye contact with you.
"What's that mean?" Yuji echoed again, looking up at Kento curiously.
"I don't like Miss (Y/N) like how you say I do.” Finally they were at the school and Kento could ease up the hold he had on his son's hand. There was a swarm of other kids all in their little uniforms, matching tops and shorts for the upcoming summer weather.
“Miss (Y/N)!” Letting go of his hand, Yuji ran to you, latching onto the fabric of your sundress as you stood outside the school and made sure the kids were going to the right places.
“Hello!” Rubbing the back of Yuji’s head, you smiled down at him. “Are you ready for school today?”
“Yeah!” Today was a special day, after lunch they got to watch a movie about dinosaurs. Opening his mouth to speak again, Yuji saw something else that caught his eye. “Megumi! Nobara!” And off he ran to say hello to his friends.
Kento stood awkwardly where Yuji had left him, clenching and unclenching his fists. Should he talk to you? It wasn’t like Yuji dictated what he could and couldn’t do, but he didn’t want the kid to get any more impressions. Or would not talking to you make it even more obvious?
“Have a good day at work, Nanami.” You called out to him, waving and smiling at him with such ease it made his heart swell.
“Y-you too.” Clearing his throat, Kento waved back and scanned the crowd to see where Yuji was one last time. Spotting his son walking into the building with his friends, Kento nodded toward you and started to walk away. “See you after school.”
“Bye!” Waving again, you turned your attention to another student, and Kento went about his way.
Except he didn’t see you after school, he saw you much earlier than that. Yuji had forgotten his lunch despite swearing up and down that he’d packed it all by himself, so Kento was tasked with delivering it.
Going into the school and walking past brightly decorated classrooms, he quickly found the class Yuji was in. Peeking in through the window to see them all still sitting down, Kento leaned against the wall until the bell rang and they were let out.
“Yuji.” The rich timbre of Kento’s voice cut through the shrill sounds of children, easily reaching the intended recipient.
“Papa, you came!” Setting his sights on the lunch box in Kento’s hands, the little seven year old leapt to grab it. “Sorry I forgot my lunch!”
“It’s okay, I’m just glad I caught it in time.”
“Thanks papa!” Once he got his hands on it, Yuji gave Kento a quick hug and scampered down the hall.
“Hello again, Nanami.” Turning his head, Kento saw you leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed as children filtered out of the classroom.
“Yuji forgot his lunch.” Kento felt a little silly already trying to justify why he was there. You’d probably seen the whole interaction take place and knew exactly what transpired.
“Mhmm, he mentioned that at the start of class today.” Nodding to yourself, you flicked your head behind you. “He told me not to call you, said he ‘for sure’ had a feeling you would come and bring it.” You grinned and pushed yourself away from the door, slyly giving Kento a once over in his business attire. Despite working from home most days, he still chose to get dressed up like this.
Kento could only nod in agreement as he watched you walk back into the room and to your desk in the corner of the room. Letting his eyes roam over the room, Kento could see clearly where his son was sitting, in the middle of the room with a bunch of stickers on his desk.
“Ah, Nanami?” Your shy voice cut through the internal dilemma Kento was having about how to smoothly exit the room.
“Yes?” Taking a slow step into the room, Kento could see you were looking at your computer screen in apprehension.
“Are you good with technology?” A sheepish laugh accompanied your question and Kento thought it was cute you were embarrassed. “I can’t seem to get any video playing on the projector and we’re supposed to watch a movie today.” Gesturing to the device on the ceiling, you worried your lip and looked at him.
“I know a thing or two, I can try.” Committing to coming into the room, Kento walked briskly over to your desk. There weren’t a lot of things that Kento couldn’t do and fixing a computer was surely not one of them.
“Thank you so much! I tried some stuff but it was no use!” Pushing your chair away from the desk and to the side, you let Kento take up the space you were previously in.
Grabbing the mice and beginning to click through applications, Kento wasn’t sure he could fix your problem. Not because he didn’t know what was wrong, he knew exactly what was wrong, but this was the first time he was alone with you and this close. He could smell the light perfume you put on and feel the heat radiating from your body. It was harder to focus than he thought it was.
“I clicked that one before and it didn’t work.” Your arm shot out to point at a few icons, making sure Kento didn’t waste his time on them.
“Really?” He mumbled, clicking on it anyway and chuckling when you grunted in mock annoyance.
“Yes really.” Sticking your tongue out at him, you watched him work intently, eager to know how to fix the problem should it ever come up again.
“Miss (Y/N), I think your computer is opening the wrong application to play the video.” You’d told him before to just call you (Y/N) when no kids were around, but Kento couldn’t bear to drop the formality; he didn’t want to get too comfortable with saying your name like that, it would only spur on the daydreams he had of you.
Mumbling something about how simple the fix was, you stood up and grabbed a remote off the desk, turning the projector on and watching as the opening credits to the movie played on the classroom wall.
“Thank you so much, Nanami!” Clapping your hands together excitedly, you turned to him. Your back was to the large windows, warming you up and casting the sun all around you.
“Happy to help.” Kento nodded, fighting to remain his stoic self and not take notice of how easy it would be to push you against said windows and kiss you. Your class was on the first floor of the building, anyone could walk by and see it if he did it, and that kind of risk had Kento’s heart beating a little faster.
“Yuji is so lucky to have a dad like you, I bet you’re great around the house!” Setting the remote down, you pat Kento on the arm. He really had no choice in the matter, his wife running off shortly after Yuji was born and leaving him with sole custody. Feeling the touch of your hand reminded him how long it had been since he’d had any physical contact with a member of the opposite sex.
“Mi- (Y/N).” Turning sharply to you, Kento took a deep breath through his nose, nostrils flaring as he drank in your form. Summer really suited you, breezy clothes and longer days, the warmth in the air meshing well with the warmth in your personality.
“Yes?” Blinking owlishly at him, you shuffled just the tiniest bit back out of surprise.
“I want to show you how good I am around the house.” The line, coming out stilted and spoken with uncertainty, had your brows coming together a little.
“W-what do you mean?” Your breathing was coming out shorter now, nerves beginning to prickle your skin the longer you and Kento stood looking at each other.
“I want…” Licking his lips nervously, Kento knew this could be a reach. He could be ruining the good relationship the two of you had, the professional relationship you had. He could make you uncomfortable, and while that was the last thing he wanted to do, he couldn’t stop himself from taking a step forward and making you back up into the windows.
“I want to take you out. On a date.” Saying the words all in one big rush, Kento watched your face closely. Your lower lip trembled and your fingers curled into your dress as you thought of a response.
“I’d like that.” Your cheeks were burning intensely and turning your head to look at the wall beside you was the only saving grace you had. The silly little crush you had on Kento, the one you tried to stamp out and ignore, was finally allowed to take shape.
“Really?” Smiling loosely like an idiot, Kento put his hand on the window panes, leaning forward and almost touching you as he exhaled in relief. “I’m glad.” Peeking at you through his lashes, Kento tried to ignore the fact he could see right down your dress and to your breasts.
The longer he looked at you though, the more he realised how close he actually was to you. Your breath reached his face, if he wanted to Kento could drop his arm and easily envelop you in a hug, or perhaps-
“May I…?” He started to ask as he leaned in to kiss you. Hovering over your lips, he brushed the tip of your nose with his as he waited for you to squeak out a yes and nod before proceeding.
Touching your lips gently, Kento forced himself to go slow. There wasn’t any need to rush, he told himself, but the excitement of finally getting to kiss you was threatening to steamroll the control he had over himself.
Reaching a hand out, you rest it on his shoulder, your fingers slowly curling into his collar and holding it tightly. Tilting your head and deepening the kiss slightly, you breathed a little harder through your nose as Kento shuffled closer.
“I knew it!” The overjoyed shriek of Yuji surprised both of you, enough so that you pushed Kento as hard as you could away from you in shock. He was standing at the door to the classroom, his fellow classmates behind him staring in awe and confusion.
“Damn, lunchtime is over already?” Running past Kento’s dazed form, you wiped your lips off furiously as you collected the kids and ushered them into the room.
“I was right, papa! I was right! I was right! You do like Miss (Y/N)! You don’t like her a normal amount, you like her a lot! You were kiss-” Yuji was shouting at the top of his lungs, silenced only by Kento sliding a hand over his mouth.
“Be quiet, don’t yell like that inside the classroom.” Kento groaned, already feeling a headache form at having to explain himself to Yuji later. When he asked you out, he already had a vague plan in the back of his head on how he was going to hide it from the young boy, but that was completely out the window now. “Go sit down, we’ll talk later.” Nudging him toward his desk, Kento tried to ignore the whispers from the other students about what they’d seen.
“Yuji, is Miss (Y/N) your new mom?” Nobara whispered loudly, looking obviously between you and Kento.
“Not yet, they have to get married first.” Megumi whispered back, pointing at his ring finger.
“Married?! I wanna come!”
“I think it’s best I leave.” Straightening his tie, Kento nodded curtly at you before giving Yuji a lingering look. “Don’t make any trouble.”
“Yeah, okay.” Yuji was definitely going to save all the questions he had, saving them for the most opportune time. “Bye papa.”
“See you after school.” He was talking to you just as much as he was talking to Yuji, taking a sneaky glance at you before turning on his heel and walking out of the classroom.
“Miss (Y/N), are you going to live with us now?”
Dinner time was going to be pretty awkward tonight.

𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 - a short nanami thing!!! gn!reader is married to nanami here and has a son called ‘kiire’. mention of food, non canon compliant timeline.
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 - 1068
there are days when nanami thinks that life would be better on the coast of malaysia, relaxing under the warm sun with a freshly cracked coconut in hand. an escape from work, from stress, from everything that binds him to his 60 by 30 inch work desk and squeaky chair.
these are the thoughts that fill nanami’s head as he commutes back home from work. his black car is one amongst a million of others. he’s just a nameless face in the crowd, after all. he’s another person dressed up yand packed into an office cubicle where he stares at the same screen everyday, repeating the same words to clients with little hope of a raise or promotion.
nanami taps his pointer finger against the steering wheel as he waits for the traffic light to turn green. behind him, a car honks the moment the light changes colour. he swallows his dissatisfaction and steps on the accelerator a second later out of spite.
a cheery ‘ken-chan!’ and the wailing of his three year old son, kiire, greets nanami the second he walks through the front door.
“papa! papa!” kiire yells, his face red as he kicks and squirms in your arms.
“there you go, kii. don’t worry now,” you say as you hand him over to nanami once he’s taken his shoes off by the genkan. he grunts as kiire wraps his chubby arms around his neck, sniffling and wiping snot all over his suit jacket.
you give nanami a quick kiss on the cheek and take his work bag away before returning the kitchen to finish preparing dinner. the living room is a mess; crayons and papers are strewn around, while a evening talk show blasts from the television. the smell of curry wafts from the kitchen.
“why are you crying, kiire? hm? papa’s here,” nanami mumbles as he sinks into the couch and lowers the volume of the tv. the obnoxious ad for a new rice cooker fades into the background.
kiire’s eyes are red and nanami brushes his knuckles against his cheek, wiping away the tears that fall. he presses a gentle kiss to his forehead.
“hm?” he continues with a small smile on his face. kiire gulps.
“y-you weren’t home on time,” he whimpers. “i thought you wouldn’t be home for dinner again.”
nanami holds his son tightly, bouncing him on his thigh.
“i’ll always be home for dinner.”
“no you won’t! last month you stayed… after-time at least once a week!”
kiire begins to cry again as fat tears slip from his eyes. nanami brings him into his shoulder and pats his back, leaving fleeting kisses on his chubby cheeks. he doesn’t know what to say, nor are there things that he can promise. all he knows is that his jacket can be dry cleaned later, and that family should have been a bigger priority all along.
“dinner’s ready!” you shout, bearing a plate in either hand.
steaming curry rice and omelettes are served as you give nanami a knowing look. he returns his attention to kiire, though he’s already calming down at the mention of food.
“kiire, look at me,” nanami says gently. kiire snorts his snot back and nods, fiddling with the lapel on his jacket. “there are times when papa has to do some extra work. but i will always make up for lost time, okay?”
he holds out his pinky for a promise, smiling as kiire loops his finger around his.
“okay papa,” is his mumbled reply, before he clambers off of nanami’s lap to head towards the dining table.
dinner is completed after kiire has his snotty nose cleaned up and the dishes are washed and dried. you manage to wrangle your son into his pajamas while nanami takes a shower, putting him to bed with his favourite stuffed elephant tucked next to him. you close the door to kiire’s bedroom with a quiet sigh. just as you do so, nanami emerges from the bathroom.
“long day?” he asks and moves over to wrap his arm around your waist, kissing your hairline.
“i could say the same to you,” you reply.
you kiss him briefly. “you head on to bed first. i have to hang the laundry and prepare food for tomorrow’s bento,” you whisper against his lips.
“no. let me help.”
you let out a light laugh and miss the smile that nanami’s has on his face when you turn back to the kitchen. the both of you make light work of the chores, finishing quickly with the load split between you. it doesn’t take long before you’re wrapped up cozily in bed, head resting against nanami’s chest as he holds a paperback in hand.
you sleepily tell him about what had happened that day. kiire caught a frog in the pond nearby and brought it home (much to your displeasure, because it was wet and muddy), and about the croquette recipe you learnt. nanami replies with his own version of work, answering your questions about how a meeting went.
you fall asleep to the sound of nanami flipping the pages of his book. the room is quiet, save for the hum of the air conditioning. he glances briefly down at you, cheek pressed against him and a small patch of drool forming on his t shirt.
nanami thinks that maybe it’s time for him to quit his job. there’s a sense of satisfaction knowing that his boss will never be able to bully him again, and that he will always be back on time for dinner.
this is his warm sunshine, a house where you and kiire make it home. nanami makes a mental note to call gojo the next morning about that sorcerer job as he bookmarks his book and switches off the lamp, settling into bed with his arms wrapped around you.
in his sleep, he dreams of a lovely house built near a beach. you’re laughing as the water tickles your ankles with every rush of the tide, a glorious sound for him to hear. kiire paddles around in the shallower part of the ocean while nanami holds onto his float to make sure he doesn’t go too far. there’s remnants of a sandcastle on the shore, while a small pile of collected shells sit near your beach blanket.
the sun is warm. he relaxes, laughing as kiire splashes some water onto him.

FEATURE: Revolutionary Girl Utena Is Too Much, That's Why It's Great
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Utena who wanted to be a prince. At Ohtori Academy, she met another girl named Anthy, who is engaged to a cruel member of the student council. There is a secret ritual at Ohtori in which the student council duels each other for the right to possess her. Utena refuses to allow this to go on any longer and wins Anthy’s hand after school in an arena deep in the woods under the shadow of a fairy tale castle. With this decision, Utena stakes her claim to the nobility of the prince who inspired her. But what does it mean to be noble, anyway?
So begins Revolutionary Girl Utena, an anime series assembled by former Sailor Moon staffers under the Be-Papas label. But Utena is far more than just that. It’s a festival of gorgeous imagery, teen melodrama, and operatic prog rock. It has a skewed sense of humor that encompasses surfing elephants and pooping monkeys, but is at times one of the scariest and most unnerving anime ever produced. The show’s staff list includes Academy Award-nominated directors like Mamoru Hosada, as well as anime luminaries like MUSHI-SHI’s Hiroshi Nagahama and art director Chieko Nakamura. It’s one of the best anime of the ‘90s and might be my all-time favorite depending on how I feel that day.
Revolutionary Girl Utena is overflowing with stuff. There’s the classic moments that have spread through popular culture, like Utena doing a flip in the dueling arena or the Sword of Dios erupting from Anthy’s chest. Then there’s the symbolism: multi-colored roses, fine art, and weird goofy animals. There’s are countless references to other things: fans mention Demian and Twin Peaks as clear inspirations, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized the debt the show owes Keiko Takemiya’s seminal boys’ love comic Kaze to Ki no Uta (Song of the Wind and Trees). Series director Kunihiko Ikuhara has earned a reputation over the years as an uncompromising auteur, but in hindsight, I think his talent isn’t so much originality as it is his capacity as a remixer: taking different styles and motifs — for instance, Sailor Moon and avant-garde ‘70s Shuji Terayama plays — and combining them in unexpected ways. The result is a frightening Katamari ball of repurposed pop culture united under a singular visual aesthetic.
The show’s breadth grants the creators the time and space to indulge in some truly weird ideas. One of the most iconic parts of the series are the shadow girl sequences, which appear like clockwork before an episode’s duel and are either a key for its themes or a joke at the viewer’s expense — or both. Then there are the Nanami episodes, which delight in finding new and hilarious ways to torture the show’s resident mean girl. An entire third of the show is devoted to the Black Rose Arc, which puts Utena and Anthy’s story on hold to flesh out the side cast and crank up the horror imagery. Despite its lack of relevance to the show’s “main plot,” the Black Rose Arc alone is a favorite of several folks I know and foreshadows all of Ikuhara’s later work. I can’t imagine the show without it.
Plenty of anime has since come along bearing Utena’s influence. Some of them were created by Utena staff members, like 2019’s Sarazanmai. Others are disciples of later Ikuhara-directed projects; for instance, Shouko Nakamura led a crew of Penguindrum alumni to create the charming film Classmates, while the visually stunning Revue Starlight anime franchise is led by Yuri Bear Storm director Tomohiro Furukawa and his team. Across the seas, Steven Universe bears Utena’s print. Even the massively popular phone game Fate/GO has some Utena DNA through its writers' shared interest in the series. Some of these works have managed to approach Utena’s substance, while others have equaled or even exceeded its style. Yet I’d say that none of these series have managed to fully encompass what Utena was at its best. Even my pick for the best of the lot, fellow Sailor Moon alumni Ikuko Itoh's marvelous Princess Tutu, lacks just a bit of Utena’s spice by comparison.
Utena has plenty of style and substance, but I wouldn’t say either of those elements is the show’s true secret sauce. One potential answer is its cruelty. Utena allows its cast to be genuinely mean to each other in ways that contemporaries like Revue Starlight never allow. At the same time, the show tackles themes that child-friendly series like Steven Universe and Princess Tutu could or would not touch: rape, incest, abuse. That is not to say that Utena does so perfectly. While rewatching the series this year with friends, I found myself questioning exactly what the creators were trying to do with certain scenes (especially in the show’s final arc), or wondering if they were being too knowing or flippant with such loaded material. I wouldn’t begrudge people who find it to be too much for them, or prefer work that takes a less aggressive approach. Personally, though, I appreciate Utena’s willingness to delve into messy and conflicted feelings. I think the show’s heart is in the right place even if it can be mean to its audience.
That said, rather than cruelty, I think the true answer is the show’s size. At 39 episodes, Revolutionary Girl Utena sprawls, replete with weird little cul de sacs and dead ends. These indulgences are inseparable from the show’s character. When I first watched the show as a teenager, I thought it was perfect. With the benefit of hindsight, I see that the series isn’t a pristine monument, but a tangled bird’s nest. Yet that’s exactly what makes the show as a whole so enduring. No other anime of its kind is as shocking, hilarious, dramatic or even boring for so much time. Utena is not any weaker for being overstuffed. Utena is great because it is overstuffed.
That great uncompromising size and density has drawn writers to the show over the years like moths to a flame. Enterprising readers looking for an episodic guide to the series might turn to Vrai Kaiser’s Consulting Analyst or Dee Hogan’s Utena Watch Party. Those seeking to understand Utena’s influence on Japanese anime at large should turn to the classic blog post Ikuhara School Directors & Utena's Legacy. If that still isn’t enough, the annals of the fansite Empty Movement will keep you busy until the End of the World. I believe that these writers are drawn to Utena not because it is intimidating or pretentious but for its generosity. It’s not so much that the answers to Utena are in doubt, as that there are so many answers you could continue to write about the series for years and still never cover them all. Like Revolutionary Girl Utena itself, their collective efforts are an act of love. As Be-Papas honored what they loved in their work, we honor them. Meanwhile, Utena endures: a gorgeous, funny, scary, frustrating, outrageous, weird, and always surprising masterpiece.
