That’s for me to know and for you to figure out - pt.11
Panic Imagine -- Dodge Mason x OC (Reese Silvers) -- pt.11
A girl from a wealthy family wants to get out of Carp just as much as everyone else. With the new guy in town, she seems to be a bit more distracted than she had hoped. And those who once were her friends just may be the ones who will throw her into the deep end. Will panic be what she hopes, or will she fall into the depths of deceit and lies?
“Luke Hall is taking bets on Panic. That’s why he’s back in town.” Heather said as she sat on my bed.
“To track the game?” I asked.
“Or to fix it.” She said.
“Fix it?” I asked.
“Reese think about it, he was at the jump last year. He graduated years ago, isn’t it a little bit weird that he comes back the same summer that two of the leading players die in like freak accidents? That really seems like one hell of a coincidence.” She said.
“Yeah, both Jimmy and Abby’s deaths are connected to the game, but if Luke is taking bets. Then maybe he’s connected to them too.” I said.
“Look, I gotta get home but I’ll call you later okay.” She said before leaving.
After Heather left I headed over to Dodge’s place. I walked up and knocked on the door.
“Hey can we talk?” I asked as he answered it.
“Sure, come in.” He said and we made our way to his room.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Heather says people are gambling on Panic.” I said.
“Some of them are putting $10,000, $20,000 on each challenge. They think Luke might be in charge.” I added.
“Hmm.” Dodge hummed.
“You’re not surprised.” I said.
“Because you knew didn’t you?” I asked.
“Yeah.” He said, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Cortez suspected ever since he found out about Panic, but he didn’t know enough about the game or how it worked in order to build a case so um he needed a way in.” He said and I scoffed.
“So you’ve been helping him?” I asked.
“He wants Luke in jail. This is the only way.” He said.
“Oh okay, so what you’ve been like spying on us this whole time?” I asked.
“No, I’ve been trying to win.” He said.
“How does that help Cortez?” I asked.
“It’s not illegal to gamble in Texas okay. But it is a felony to be the house that’s how we’re going to catch him. If I win, we can prove that Luke is getting a kickback as the bookie. That’s what Cortez needs.” He said.
“So you’re doing this for revenge?” I asked.
“Cause Heather told me about your sister. I’m not mad that you lied to me, I’m just curious as to why you thought you couldn’t tell me. I told you everything about what happened and you still kept it from me. But it’s really none of my business I guess.” I said.
“I’m playing for Dayna.” He said.
“Yeah. I get that. But you lied Dodge, repeatedly. And I just. I can’t trust someone who lies.” I said as I turned around to leave.
“Reese.” He said.
“No. I’m out of Panic. I’m done, our alliance is over there’s nothing else to it.” I said.
“Really? Was sleeping with me just part of the alliance too?” He asked.
“No. And you know that. But this mess with Cortez, I don’t want any part of it. I’m trying to burn my broken bridges and go down with them and if any of this gets caught up with me it’s going to be a shit show. So I am sorry Dodge but I can’t have anything to do with Panic anymore.” I said before I left.
When I got home I noticed my brother’s car and made my way inside.
“Hey, didn’t think you’d be home.” I said.
“Yeah, haven’t been out much lately.” He said and there was a silent pause.
“Rhett, I’m out of Panic. I got eliminated.” I said, and his eyes shot up to meet mine.
“I swear to you, I’m gonna get the money. I will help you find a way.” I said and he only sighed.
“Reese, this isn’t your fight you need to quit trying so hard. I got us into this, you weren’t even supposed to be involved in this.” He said.
“But I am. And if you don’t find the money Rhett. He is gonna kill you.” I said.
“Maybe not.” He said.
“Maybe we could go to the cops see if Cortez can help.” He said.
“Thats a bad idea, the cops won’t help if they know why you were there and Cortez is dirty Rhett.” I said.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
“Cortez is trying to pin something on Luke, something big. But I know Luke didn’t do it.” I said.
“What?” He asked.
“On Halloween 3 years, Dodge’s sister was in a hit and run and it left her paralyzed. Cortez has Dodge convinced it was Luke who hit her but I know it wasn’t.” I said.
“I was with Ray on Halloween that year. It was freshman year, Ray wouldn’t shut up about how his brother was sitting in jail for some stupid thing that he did. But he was in jail, he wasn’t out roaming the streets and hitting people and driving off.” I said.
“So what? Maybe Cortez got it wrong.” Rhett said.
“Cortez would know Luke was in jail that night, he would’ve already looked into where he was. That would be the first thing, which means I think Cortez is dirty.” I said.
“Just stay out of it. Don’t get yourself caught Reese.” He said before leaving, but then stopped.
“Oh this letter was on the porch when I got home.” He said, picking up an envelope with my name written in bold and handed it to me.
“Thanks” I said, and he left the room. I opened the envelope and a paper was inside.
TUMBLEWEED MAZE 10PM. ASSIST DODGE IN HIS TASK RULES DOWN BELOW
“Shit.” I muttered.
I pulled up to the place around 9:45 pm and after about 10 minutes I saw Dodge’s car pull up.
“What the hell?” He asked as he got out of his car.
“You’re the welcome committee?” He asked.
“I guess so.” I said.
“At least you don’t have to pay for admission.” I added and began walking.
“Tumbleweed maze? I’m almost offended.” Dodge said.
“Judges...they’re looking for a specific key. Find it and you’re in. You have one hour. And keep it moving, because every minute you spend looking, well that’s just another point you won’t get.” I said.
“In three, two, one.” I counted down and he walked towards the barn.
The next morning we were told to meet at the motor lodge, when I pulled up I went inside and saw that most everyone was already there, I walked over and sat at the table with Heather.
“Hey.” I said.
“Hey.” She said.
“I’m sorry you got out.” She said.
“It’s all good, Sorry about you too.” I said.
“Friends, players, former contestants, the results of the individual challenges have been tallied. All the points have been scored. Shawna quit, so she’s out of the game. Dodge is in first place and will be heading to the Joust. The player competing against him is as yet undetermined.” Diggins said.
“What?! Why?” Ray asked.
“I mean I stayed long enough in that shithole cooler, didn’t I?” Ray asked.
“Not long enough to beat Dodge’s time” Summer said.
“The individual challenges aren’t done yet Ray. By order of the judges, Natalie Williams is disqualified for reasons of false representation and failure to complete the required challenges. As punishment the player’s points have been retroactively invalidated.” Diggins said.
“English please?” Drew asked.
“The judges wiped Natalies score because she cheated.” Diggins added and Ray laughed.
“She was never in Spurlock’s house. Shouldn’t have even made it to Graybill let alone the final four.” Diggins said.
“That’s, that’s bullshit. All right that’s hearsay” Nat said.
“True. We heard you say it.” Summer said.
“That’s a good one Summer.” Nat clapped back.
“No you admitted it in your video that you trapped me underground. That’s nowhere near the house, right?” Heather said.
“Plus someone ratted you out to the judges.” Diggins said.
“All right, fuck you guys.” Nat said before getting up and leaving.
“You were outside watching the house, Dodge covered for you.” Diggins said, and I turned to look at Dodge.
“What?” I whispered to Heather and she shrugged her shoulders.
“Wait hold on hold on hold on, wait a second. If Dodge helped Natalie get through the last challenge then why is he still playing?” Ray asked.
“Well he was stealing for two, lucky he didn’t get double the points.” Summer said and people started talking over each other.
“All right settle down, settle down. At the time of the judge’s selection of the Final Three, excluding Natalie, the players in order were Dodge, Ray, and Heather.” Diggins said, and I turned to look at heather with a open smile on my face.
“But Heather missed a challenge.” Drew said.
“Well she still has her immunity.” Summer said.
“Given that and Natalie’s disqualification, an exception has been made. Congratulations Heather, the judges ruled you may move on to your individual challenge. Good Luck.” Diggins said.
As we were leaving I walked out with Heather.
“Holy fucking shit. This is amazing.” I said to her.
“I’m so nervous.” She said.
“Heather this is your chance to win. You have to do everything you can.” I said.
“And I’m sorry about Nat. She’s a bitch.” I said which made her laugh a little.
“Looks like it’s down to you and me for joust.” Ray shouted, and I rolled my eyes.
“I’ll leave you to it.” I said to her as I walked away and headed home.
Later once I was home the doorbell rang and I went downstairs to get it.
“Dodge.” I said as I opened the door.
“What can I do for you?” I asked.
“Can I come in?” He asked.
“Sure.” I said.
“I’m sorry about before. I’m sorry we argued.” He said.
“It’s fine. Honestly don’t worry about it.” I said.
“I’m sorry Natalie screwed you over. I could’ve warned you on that part.” I said.
“Look I know you’re all set on trying to help Cortez take down Luke Hall but I think you’re exhausting your efforts.” I said.
“I didn’t come to talk about that.” He said as he walked closer to me as I leaned against the counter in the kitchen.
“Looking back on it, we never really had an alliance did we?” I asked.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
“You were always working with Natalie. Trying to get ahead, but I didn’t know. So we never really had an alliance because I couldn’t really trust you even if I didn’t know it.” I said.
“Did you ever really like me? Or was it a ploy?” I asked.
“Reese I never would have planned out to get close to you and sleep with you to get an advantage over you in Panic.” He said, sounding a bit hurt that I would suggest that.
“You suggested it at one point.” I said.
“I didn’t mean it.” He said.
“I know.” I said.
“You know, I really did like you Dodge. A lot.” I said.
“Did? As in you don’t anymore.” He said, twisting his lips to the side.
“So much has happened in so little time, this summer has been crazy but the one thing i’ve managed to keep constant is you.” I said.
“So no Dodge I didn’t sleep with you because of our alliance, I didn’t just magically erase the feelings I have for you, but things are crazy and if we aren’t on the same page. We cannot do this.” I said.
“How do we get on the same page Reese? I’m trying.” He said.
“Cortez is dirty. Plain and simple, you cannot trust him.” I said.
“I’ll keep my eye out I promise.” He said.
“And from now on, I’ll tell you everything going on, no more secrets.” He said.
“Good.” I said, I then leaned in and kissed him, running my hand to the back of his neck. His hand snaked around my waist as he pulled me into him. I broke the kiss only a moment to speak.
“My brother is home just so you know to keep the volume down to a minimum.” I said, lacing my fingers with his I lead him upstairs and into my room.
I slipped on my shirt and pants as Dodge put his on.
“You know Joust is like a big thing in Panic.” I said, sitting back down on the bed and facing him.
“I know.” He said.
“I’m worried.” I said.
“I am too.” He stated, rubbing his thumb over the back of my hand.
“I’ve gotta go, but I’ll meet up with you later okay?” He asked.
“Okay.” I said with a smile and he leaned down to kiss me before heading out the door and downstairs to leave.
After a little while, I heard arguing through the floor and I went out to see what was going on.
“Do you know how dangerous this is Rhett? You could be killed, you could get your sister killed for god’s sake.” I heard my dad shout.
“Dad?” I asked as I made my way downstairs.
“Reese, why didn’t you tell me about any of this? This is crazy you know better, you both know better.” He snapped.
“Dad I can explain.” I said softly.
“So you do know how bad this is.” He said.
“George.” My mom said.
“No Lemon, you were right in your motion to try and send her off to boarding school. It would have been for her own good, because now she decided to help her dumb ass of a brother get out of situation he ain’t ever shoulda been in to begin with.” He yelled.
“Daddy it’s not as bad as you think.” I tried to reason.
“I always told you that Hall boy was no good for you darlin’“ He said.
“I’m takin this to the cops.” He said.
“No dad you can’t.” I said as I ran to the door.
“Why Reese.” He asked.
“There is so much that you don’t know okay, but you can’t trust them.” I said.
“At least not Cortez.” I added.
“You’re not makin any sense honey.” My mom said.
“Cortez is dirty okay. He is caught up in bets that are bein made on Panic. I don’t know if he is in on them but if he is it means he’s got his eyes glued on me and everyone else in this stupid game so we cannot trust him. He is trying to take Luke Hall out, and if we aren’t careful he is going to find out what happened and we are all gonna go sinking down with that ship.” I said.
“You’re going to tell us everything.” He said.

Currently reading Panic by Lauren Oliver.
I watched the TV show where Mike Faist plays Dodge (because I love him and watch everything he's in) and was..... unimpressed.
The book is already better but do you know what the very first thing we learn about Dodge????
He has "darker skin" and his father is Dominican!
This is Mike Faist, extremely white boy Mike Faist, playing Dodge
What the hell??? We're whitewashing in 2021?? I love Mike but in 2020ish he was not such a get that a major streamer would change a character for him (which they shouldn't do anyway). They just decided to make Dodge white!
WHAT THE FUCK

@ask-alicelockwood bit the heart
"I think that's always been what the game is really about. It's not just throwing a football across the field and winning without the use of preternatural abilities. It's about reading people. And it's about fear. The fear that you can never really know other people, not completely. That you're always flying blind, no matter how solid your strategy is."

Panic by Lauren Oliver
Title: Panic Author: Lauren Oliver Series: N/A Number of Pages: 408 Genre: Teen & Young Adult Fiction Publisher: HarperTeen Date of Original Publication: March 14, 2014 ISBN: 978-0990336037
Another one down. Panic by Lauren Oliver was one that I wanted to read after watching the adaptation for Amazon Prime.
Panic is about a group of high school seniors that graduate and opt in to playing a dangerous game with multiple events that could severely injuring or kill them. All for the grand prize of a large amount of cash so they can leave their small town in New York.
The book was okay. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite in the YA genre. It was an interesting concept. The characters were relatively likeable and the storyline was believable.
At times I think it moved a little bit too fast. There could’ve been things that were better explained or the events in the Panic game could’ve been embellished.
I was also absolutely shocked in the difference of storylines between this story and the Amazon Prime adaptation. Honestly I think Amazon did a better job. I understand there is a crossover book and I wonder if it is better than the original.
I don’t agree with Prime’s decision to change the ethnicity and wealth class of Bishop’s character. They tried too hard on that one. I also don’t agree that Prime made the main character end up with someone else for a relationship. That was a totally unnecessary change that I think Lauren Oliver should’ve stood up for herself.
★★★★ I would recommend if you need a quick read. You can probably read it in a day.

Interview: Mike Faist Isn’t Sure About This Whole Acting Thing
“I can’t tell if I hate acting or if I love it too much,” he said ahead of the debut of the Amazon series “Panic.” Coming soon, a major role in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story.” For now, he’s going to Ohio.
By Elisabeth Vincentelli Published May 27, 2021
Tall and lanky, looking as if he were born wearing Wranglers, Mike Faist cuts quite a striking figure in the Amazon Prime series “Panic”: His character, Dodge Mason, is a Stetson-wearing rodeo dude who breaks untamed horses, then soulfully gazes into their eyes.
That, however, is not at all how the character was written in the Lauren Oliver young adult novel that inspired the show, debuting Friday, in which Dodge and a dozen other small-town teenagers face off in a series of life-threatening challenges — think a naturalistic “Hunger Games” with more class war.
After shooting a pilot in 2018 in upstate New York (where the book is set), the production completely rebooted in Austin, Tex., a year later, and Dodge’s back story was changed to better fit the new locale. Suddenly, the school wimp who was interested in cards and magic had been turned into a Western archetype: the strong, do-right loner who doesn’t say much. Faist went with the flow.
“Ciphers can be really boring,” said Oliver, who also wrote the screenplay, “but he manages to capture the power inherent in a certain level of invisibility.”
Dodge is quite a departure for Faist, who is best known for his Tony-nominated performance as the tormented, cynical Connor Murphy in the Broadway musical “Dear Evan Hansen.” Blessed with a rangy charisma and a bone structure that appears to have been carved with a scythe, the actor, now 29, could have easily coasted in “Panic.” But his sensibility is closer to that of such atypical leading men as Adam Driver, and he modernizes a potentially boilerplate part.
“Mike really didn’t want to be a caricature, but I don’t think he ever could be,” said Jessica Sula, who plays Natalie, Dodge’s love interest in “Panic.” She recalled that when shooting resumed in Texas after a Covid-19-imposed pause, Faist chose to live in a trailer on a plot of land with his rescue dog, Austin.
“He’s just so fabulously ridiculous and wonderful,” she said of Faist, laughing fondly.
Faist’s own course has been ascendant since he dropped out of acting school at 18, and his plum role in Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated “West Side Story” as Riff, the leader of the Jets, should put him on Hollywood’s speed dial when it debuts in December. (Shooting wrapped in September 2019.)
And yet the actor spent much of a recent conversation candidly admitting to ambivalence and incertitude. He spent some of the past year driving around the country with Austin and writing a screenplay. He has been turning down offers and is now selling his Brooklyn apartment and heading back to Ohio.
Faist was warm and laid back on a recent sunny morning in Park Slope, and he laughed a lot in what seemed to be protective self-deprecation as he pondered his future, professional and otherwise. These are edited excerpts from the conversation.
How did they spring the new Dodge on you?
It was still the same elements in terms of, “Oh, here’s the new guy,” but instead of, like, a weird magician, he’s now a … cowboy? I was like, “What do you mean, I’m now a cowboy?” They were like: “Yeah, yeah, you’ll be fine. Maybe try an accent.”
You do look pretty comfortable playing a horse whisperer.
I’d never worked with a horse in a production before. There were two of them: a very calm, gentle horse and a skittish one. We just ended up working with this skittish horse because it was actually doing stuff. The scene where the horse moves toward me was not planned or choreographed at all. They are, you know, unpredictable.
It might have been less intimidating than a sex scene. Is the one with Jessica Sula your first as an actor?
Maybe. I don’t know.
Wouldn’t you remember?
You’d think! I did do a romantic scene [onstage] in “A Month in the Country” with Taylor Schilling. I remember getting a pretty [expletive] review. [Laughs.]
Since the fall of 2018, you’ve gone back and forth between “Panic” and “West Side Story.” How did you handle these very physical projects?
For “West Side,” I found these Bruce Davidson photos of Brooklyn gangs from the late ’50s. If you look at their photos, these guys are emaciated, they have tattoos, and they look wired. Any money they had, they would pool and buy cheap wine and maybe they would have French fries or something. Then they were doing drugs. So I was like, “I need to lose some weight.” But my body was totally breaking down. Then I tried to bulk up as much as possible for “Panic” — just eating potatoes.
Did you do any kind of special training?
I started going to the Mendez boxing gym in Manhattan for “West Side.” I was working with John Rosado, who was raised in New York, Puerto Rican, badass. He was like, “I can’t believe I’m training a Jet!”
Your first big job was in the Broadway musical “Newsies,” which is quite dance heavy. Still, was it daunting to audition for “West Side Story”?
I put together a tape, and then they said, “We want you to come back in and dance.” I was like, “Is there any way you could not have me dance?” They were like: “What are you talking about? This is ‘West Side Story’!” The only saving grace is that Justin Peck [the choreographer] and I have similar body types: tall, nothing but arms and legs. They had their work cut out for them in order to get me up to snuff.
Why aren’t you in the upcoming “Dear Evan Hansen” movie alongside your former co-star Ben Platt?
I feel like I couldn’t do it. I started that when I was, like, 21, and was with it for five or six years. When you’re doing eight shows a week, it very much turns into relying on your technique and the job of it. And the show was such a zeitgeisty thing. It really took a lot out of me, and I didn’t really have it in me anymore.
With “Panic” and “West Side Story” behind you, what are you lining up?
Maybe this is so pretentious, but “West Side” was everything I had ever hoped to accomplish as an actor. It’s really crazy, but it was transcendental: either I didn’t feel like I was myself, or I was the most authentic version of myself. I can’t really tell which one. Having gone from having no money, wanting to just be a working actor — I don’t want to just be a working actor anymore. I had that experience. It [expletive] me up.
What did?
“West Side,” in the best of ways. I can’t unsee what I’ve seen. The pandemic nearly killed us and — what, I just want to be an actor? That’s ridiculous. [Laughs.] I don’t care enough. It’s a weird thing: I can’t tell if I hate acting or if I love it too much. It’s not like I don’t plan on doing it. I just don’t want to follow the trajectory of what the industry wants me to do.
Which is what?
Put on a cape and wear a mask. I need to take more agency because no one’s going to do it for me. It’s tricky, but it’s interesting and pretty exciting. I’m going to hang out with my family in Ohio and then start to figure out where I’m going to go. I would like to ultimately be of service and of use; that’s when I feel at my best.

A birthday gift?? For moi?? And such a perfect, lovely one at that! 💖 I was so touched to be gifted, and that was before I'd even read it! Reading it, though??? I am truly blessed.
Severus Snape can be patient. He's spent six years watching and waiting, after all.
no "i" in threesome

pretty in panic
Horace/Theodore. Draco/Theodore. Rated: E. Words: 555. Underage. Rape/non-con. Student/teacher. Polyjuice. Coercion. Dead dove.

Fleur/Pansy. Rated: E. Words: 19,223. Veela Fleur. Sex worker Pansy. Dom/sub. Dom Pansy. Sub Fleur. Getting Together. Mutual Pining. Hurt/comfort.

Neville/Oliver. Rated: E. Words: 17,870. Friends to lovers. Mutual pining. Quidditch injury. Light dom/sub. Wood You Rather 2022. Chubby Neville Fest 2022.

That’s for me to know, and for you to figure out - pt.10
Panic Imagine -- Dodge Mason x OC (Reese Silvers) -- pt.10
A girl from a wealthy family wants to get out of Carp just as much as everyone else. With the new guy in town, she seems to be a bit more distracted than she had hoped. And those who once were her friends just may be the ones who will throw her into the deep end. Will Panic be what she hopes, or will she fall into the depths of deceit and lies?
“People say there’s a challenge coming tonight.” Nat said as we sat watching the race.
“It’s like you said, the game always goes on.” Heather commented.
“Well the game feels different though, doesn’t it? It’s not just the cops, it’s-” Nat spoke
“it’s like it’s not a game.” Heather interrupted.
“Yeah.” Nat said.
“We can still be teammates, though right?” Heather asked her.
“Partners, win or lose. It’s together.” Nat said with a smile, but it fell quickly once she looked away.
“You’ve been awfully quiet.” Heather said, bumping her shoulder into mine.
“Just taking in the moment.” I said.
“You hate this kind of stuff.” She said.
“I do. I do hate it.” I said with a laugh.
“Hey do you remember the list that I found at spurlock’s?” She asked me.
“Yeah.” I said.
“I don’t think it’s a list of the players, I think it’s a list of odds.” She said.
“What do you mean?” Nat asked.
“What like someone’s been betting on it?” I asked.
“Exactly like someone’s been betting on it. Someone who was with us there that night.” She said as a bang came from the cars.
“Oh first causality!” The announcer said as two cars collided.
“I think Dodge is 12.” I said.
“And Ray is 14.” Heather said.
“I told Dodge I’d buy him Sonic if he won.” Nat stated.
“You like him!” Heather said.
“Okay stop.” Nat said with a smile, and I readjusted the way I was sitting as the bleacher dug into my ass.
“I’m gonna go get something else to drink.” I said as I decided to get up and make my way to the concession stand.
“Okay.” Heather said with a smile.
The show must have ended while I was getting my drink cause I spotted Dodge walking towards me.
“Hey! I’m guessin’ you didn’t win.” I asked.
“Nah, Ray got me. But it’s all good.” He said with a smile, then heard Luke start talking.
“Good show out there. Sorry about my brother, slippery little shit isn’t he? I’m Luke.” He said.
“I know who you are.” Dodge said.
“Got it.” Luke stated.
“There’s always joust right?” Luke called out.
“What?” Dodge snapped.
“You know, Ray he’s always talkin’ shit about you, which must mean he’s scared that you’re gonna win.” Luke said before taking a drag of his cigarette.
“No reason to be scared. I am gonna win.” Dodge said, but Luke only laughed.
“Next round is comin’ up.” The announcer said through the speakers.
“Looks like I’m in heat, see ya round cowboy.” Luke said and then turned to walk away, but then stopped and turned back.
“Oh and Reese, it’s always a pleasure.” He said with a smile and then continued.
“Dodge.” I said, but nothing.
“Dodge.” I said again, breaking him from his daze.
“Come on.” I said and we walked to my car.
The first part of the drive back was pretty quiet until Dodge piped up to ask a question.
“Did you and Ray use to sleep together?” He asked and I nearly slammed on my breaks but didn’t.
“Wh-Why would you ask that?” I asked.
“I was just wondering. The way you two act around each other, the way Luke acts around you I just-
“Luke has nothing to do with this. I can’t stand the prick, and Ray. Ray and I used to be a thing but that’s been over for months. It was never anything steady to begin with.” I said.
“I don’t mean to pry it’s just, if we’re gonna keep things going the way they are I don’t want you carrying something for him or anything.” He said.
“Ray and I haven’t done anything for- we haven’t been together for a while now.” I said.
“Have you slept with him recently?” He asked.
“Dodge.” I grumbled.
“I just want to know Reese.” He said.
“I-I slept with him 2 weeks ago, but that was the last time we really spoke. I haven’t seen him much except for Panic. But you and I were barely friends at that point okay. And plus according to Natalie today, she wants to get in your pants more than Ray does mine.” I said.
“What are you talking about?” He asked with a laugh.
“She said she likes you Dodge. Do you like encourage it or?” I asked.
“No I don’t Reese. Her and I-” He said, but paused.
“You and her what?” I asked.
“In the start she came to me, like you did and asked for an alliance. Same as you she was pissed at Heather for playing. But she was more malicious in what she wanted.” He said.
“So you’ve been teamed up with her for weeks now.” I asked.
“Yes.” He said.
“Great.” I muttered.
“I’m telling Heather.” I said.
“Telling her what?” He asked.
“About us, about our alliance. She deserves to know.” I said.
“Fine.” He stated and we went to silence for a minute.
“I don’t like her you know, Nat? I don’t like her like that.” He stated.
“Fine.” I said.
“I like you Reese.” He added.
“Okay.” I said softly, a smile creeping onto my lips.
Later that night I met Heather, Dodge and Nat at a party.
“Hey! I wasn’t sure if you’d make it.” Heather said as I walked towards them.
“I didn’t have anything else to do.” I said.
“Hey wanna bet I can beat you at cornhole?” Nat asked Dodge.
“Oh, nice try. She’s like a creepy cornhole prodigy.” Heather said.
“Will you shut up.” Nat said.
“She once beat 12 UT frat guys at once.” Heather added.
“Come on please? Come on it’s just one game.” Nat begged him.
“One little game.” She added and Dodge pointed at me and Heather.
“I have to find Bishop.” Heather said.
“Oh no, I don’t do cornhole.” I said.
“All right, looks like it’s just you and me cowboy.” Nat said, walking to grab his arm and pull him away.
“You’re leaving me.” He said to me.
“Sorry.” I said, before heading to the food truck where I saw summer working.
“Hey I didn’t know you were working here.” I said.
“Just filling in for Diggins.” She said, before passing me a red ticket.
“So, pay attention to the seven digit number okay. The final four are what matter tonight, but for now they’re beside the points. Tell Heather if you see her okay she needs her ticket. Dodge and Nat too.” She said.
“Will do. Can I get a Dr. Pepper?” I asked.
“Sure thing.” She said and handed me one.
“Thanks Sum.” I said, handing her a 5. I made my way back towards Dodge and Nat.
“Food truck, Summer has something for you, also tell Heather when you see her.” I said as I spotted Ray standing by his truck.
“I’ll be right back.” I said, hoping Dodge wouldn’t pick up on where I was headed.
“Misery loves company.” I said and he turned his head fast from his view of Heather.
“If you like her Ray, tell her. She isn’t going to wait for you for forever.” I said.
“I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about.” He said.
“I know you slept with her. She told me, and before you get mad don’t.” I said.
“You know about the challenge?” I asked.
“Yeah. You?” He asked.
“Yep.” I said.
“Looks like I’ll see you there.” He said, before walking past me.
I made it to the location of the next challenge and I leaned against my car as I noticed Dodge pull up and get out of his.
“Are you fucking serious?” Ray said as he looked at the side of his truck. I noticed the faint scratch line from the front to the back.
“Doesn’t look good.” Dodge said.
“I know a guy who can fix that for you cheap.” He added.
“Is that right?” Ray asked.
“Well I’m always lookin’ for a deal.” He added and I walked toward the group that was gathering.
“I survived Panic, and all I got is a stupid fucking bandanna?” Tyler asked as he held a red cloth in his hand.
“Lucky green.” Drew said as he pulled his from the clothes line.
“They aren’t bandannas, they’re blindfolds.” I said, pulling the blue one from the line.
“Heather come on pick up.” I heard Nat say.
“Natalie. It’s time, we can’t wait for her any longer I heard Diggins say.
Summer then walked over and started placing the blindfold over Nat’s eyes and continued to do the same for everyone including me.
“Alright players, start walking.” Diggins said and I started.
“Little further, little further.” He said, and then car headlights beamed through the fabric of the blindfold and the tires squealed.
I swallowed and my heartbeat picked up. This game was sure enough gonna get me killed. They put us in a car and drove us out to a spot and then made us get out.
“Welcome players, to the elimination round. If it’s true that what you don’t know can never hurt you, then what you do know must come at a cost. Blind Man’s Bluff challenges you to face three fears at once. Fear of darkness, fear of falling, and dear of the unknown.” Diggins said as a train whistled in the distance.
“Is that a train?” Drew asked.
“Winners of this challenge will move on to the individuals. The challenge tonight is to make if off the bridge and back to the van. You can choose to walk blind or you can ask for a hand and we get to ask you a question.” Diggins said.
“What kind of question?” Nat asked.
“Quid pro quo. We help you, and you help us.” Diggins answered.
“We’ll start with Shawna.” He said.
We waited a while, once Shawna was done he took another person, then another, and another until I heard my name.
“Reese.” Diggins said as he walked over and grabbed my arm to help me walk.
“There are other ways to get me to talk to you Diggins.” I said.
“I know, but this is more fun.” He said and then we stopped.
“What does Ray have on you Reese?” Diggins asked.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“You two spent an awful lot of time together at one point and then it just stopped. What happened?” He clarified.
“We used to date Diggins, you know that everyone knows that. Then I guess senior year just happened and we drifted apart. That happens there’s nothing else to it.” I said.
“Something must have happened that summer. After june you and your family left town for a week, that’s when you and Ray stopped seeing each other.” He said.
“Where is this all coming from?” I asked.
“Like where are you getting this information.” I asked in a snappy tone.
“It doesn’t matter.” He said.
“Where’d you go Reese?” He asked.
“Times ticking.” Summer added.
“We went down to Austin.” I said.
“What’s in Austin?” He asked.
“UT. We went to tour it.” I said.
“Did you get in?” He asked.
“Yes.” I answered.
“Why do you need the money? To pay for college?” He asked and I bit the inside of my cheek.
“You’re down to 3 minutes Reese.” Summer said.
“No. I don’t need it for college.” I said.
“Then what do you need it for.” He asked.
“You know I’ve answered a bunch of you’re questions am I going to get my help?” I asked, and Diggins put his arm around mine and helped me take five steps.
“Now. Why do you need the money?” He asked.
“So I can help someone with something okay.” I said.
“Who.” He asked.
“It’s really none of your business.” I snapped.
“Reese you’re at 2 minutes.” Summer said.
“Who Reese?” He pressed.
“My brother okay, my brother. He got himself wrapped up in some deep shit and now I need to help him okay. Is that what you want? Jeez I mean there are other questions you could’ve asked.” I snapped.
“Are you in an alliance?” He asked.
“Yes.” I answered.
“Now give me my help.” I said as Diggins helped me walk 10 steps back in the other direction.
“With who?” He asked.
“30 seconds.” Summer said.
“Dodge.” I answered.
“Now help.” I said, and Diggins helped me a few more steps and then I took a bunch on my own but then the timer rang out.
“Times up Reese.” He said and I ripped my blindfold off and I was two steps away.
“You’re fucking joking right? Am I out?” I asked.
“I’m sorry Reese. You needed to make it off the tracks.” He said.
“By the way asshole. You asked more than 5 questions so fuck you.” I said, throwing the blindfold onto the ground and walking away.
“Reese wait!” I heard Dodge call.
“Reese!” He said again.
“What?” I snapped.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“This stupid fucking game was a mistake I never should have gotten involved to begin with. I’m done. I got fucking eliminated anyway I was two steps away but Diggins fucked with me. I’m done.” I said before walking to the van.

Note
The author of Panic Lauren Oliver whitewashed Dodge as she had a specific hand in rewriting the show (multiple times) to match her vision and specifically writing things for Mike (and using his likeness to profit for both the book and the show). And don’t get your hopes up about his heritage in the book it’s a slightly racist portrayal.
I've gotten to the point where they give more details about the dad (just references) and yep....yep
That's so messed up

Panic Season 2
Amazon's teen drama, Panic, has been a highly anticipated show in the dystopian teen genre. Created by Lauren Oliver, it is based on her 2014 novel, Panic. The first season, released on May 28, 2021, garnered attention with ten episodes. Now, fans eagerly await the return of Panic Season 2.
Setting the Scene: Carp, Texas and the Annual Panic Competition
The story unfolds in Carp, Texas, where 23 graduating students annually compete in the Panic competition for a chance to win $50,000 and escape the town. Changes in the rules this year raise questions about the risks involved. Initially ordered by Amazon in 2018, Panic's fate hinges on whether Prime Video renews the series for a second installment.
The Unfortunate Decision: No Season 2 for Panic
Just three months after the initial release, Amazon chose not to renew Panic for a second season in August. Low viewership, with a rating of 6.6/10 on IMDb and 65% on Rotten Tomatoes, led to this decision. The show couldn't match the success of its counterpart, The Wilds, which secured a renewal. Season 1 exhaustively covered the storyline from Oliver's novel, leaving no foundation for a second season.
Possibility Amidst Unlikelihood: Will Panic Return?
Currently, the chances of Panic Season 2 seem slim. However, Lauren Oliver is actively working on the second part of her novel, creating a potential storyline for a second season. The possibility of continuing Panic as an anthology series offers a glimmer of hope for fans.
Potential Returning Faces: Cast for the Next Season
If Panic is revived for Season 2, Olivia Welch as Heather Nile, Jessica Saula as Natalie Williams, Mike Faist as Dodge Mason, Ray Nicholson as Ray Hall, and Cameron Jones as Bishop Moore could all make a return. Their fate hinges on the adaptation of Oliver's second novel, and if Prime Video confirms the second season.
Closure: The Current Status of Panic Season 2
As of now, Panic Season 2 is not in the cards, given Amazon's cancellation in August. However, the possibility of the story continuing exists if the show is revived by the network or picked up by another. Stay tuned for more updates on Techradar247.
