I realized I haven't done a little life update for awhile. Plenty has happened, good and bad, but y'all will be happy to know the kids (Ink, Pancake, and Wilhelmina) are all doing well.

My family has had a lot of deaths recently, one being the grandmother I was closest with (and Misty's previous owner). She had been suffering from dementia but covid was ultimately what got her. Thankfully she died very peacefully in her sleep, which is all I can ask. She also had some money left to her kids, which my dad was kind enough to split between my brother and I. With it I've fully paid off my car. 🙂 So I'll finally be able to start saving for top surgery.

Speaking of which, that's been a bit of a ride all on its own. I was going to go forward with Dr. Rumer, but I've heard a lot of horrible things about her recently so decided to cancel with her and seek out someone else. I've got a consultation with Dr. Wahhab in June (it was the earliest she could fit me in) and one in April with Dr. Arthur. The latter is a lot closer to me geographically too, so I'm hoping things go well with him and I can finally get these chest tumors removed. Hopefully sometime this year.

Work has been a bit of an up and down rollercoaster too. Without getting into too many details I can't say I really trust anyone there anymore, but the insurance I get from them should cover my top surgery, so I've just taken a large step back from being more personable to everyone and am just quietly sticking it out while I wait on surgery.

I am still writing and drawing here and there, but I've mostly been catching up on my crafts. I'm in the process of making small oddity vials that I plan to sell here, so if that's your thing then keep a look out!

I’ve been reading Stars and Stripes since I got the novel and I’ve done nothing but giggle at the banter that goes down between Aiden and Jordi thank you tumblr for making me aware of this novel’s existence

I also doodled this one scene because I giggled at it and if I giggled at it I feel prompted to show it do you

The ‘scene’ in question:

‘When the waitress came back with fluffy pancakes stacked three deep, each as big as his plate, Aiden’s stomach growled.

Aiden stared at them with abiding love before pouring maple syrup all over until they turned from a light brown to a dark sodden colour.

“You are disgusting,” said Jordi who’d watched him drown in his breakfast with a horrified expression.

I finished a shawl. The pattern is backcountry by Emily Clawson (although I added an extra bit before doing the finally section). I used all handspun yarn (mostly from my pancake and lulu 2023 advent, but also one old spunky eclectic yarn).

I started July 23 and finished September 24 - it just took me a few weeks to wash, block, and take pics.

This used about little more than half my 2023 advent handspun - I still need to plan how to use the rest of it. I did use the scraps from the shawl to also make a hat. (Here it is drying - it fits nicely but has enough stretch to cover several different hair configurations.)
