Wind Breaker Episode 13 Review + Final Thoughts - Second Season Announced For 2025!
With the way this episode ended, there’s definitely no way they wouldn’t announce a season 2 and they did—it’ll come out in 2025! It’s to be expected because this was one of Spring 2024’s biggest hits. I certainly enjoyed this and it’s high up on my midyear anime list that I’ll be posting  next week!
Tumblr media
Meeting with the Four Kings of Bofurin is going to help Sakura open up a lot more, even though he’s still taking baby steps. The Four Kings have such cool designs. We all know Hiiragi, but there’s also Tsubakino (he’s male), Mizuki and Momose who are very cool on their own! None of them speak, unfortunately. The purpose of the meeting with the Kings and the Grade Captains to let them know that they will always have people supporting them so it’s fine to let them rely on their senpais. Umemiya always knows how to ease someone’s spirits!
Sakura’s taking baby steps as leader of his class! He actually decides to take on Anzai’s matters into his own hands and the rest of the class tags along too because they’re a team. It’s so nice to see Sakura, who was super distrustful, slowly grow into someone who can be relied on! I really liked the scene with him talking with Anzai’s childhood friend Tsuchiya. He normally doesn’t try to start a conversation towards others, so for him to initiate talk is such a novel but welcome feeling! I even liked how Sakura was thinking about Kotoha’s advice on leaving the matter to him. If you look at Sakura at the beginning to the finale of the first season, there’s some solid growth there.
Anzai may be a bit of an obscure classmate in Sakura’s class, but It’s obvious that, while he’s a nice guy, he’s trying too much to take things by himself. He’s also a bad liar to the point that the gullible Sakura can see right through him.You know you’re a terrible liar when Sakura knows you’re lying. His story with Nagato was really sad. It’d break my heart if I learned my childhood friend was hanging out with the wrong crowd. I hope that things can patch up between him and Nagato once Furin goes to beat Keel’s ass. This might be a bit of rambling, but I just learned that his voice actor is Shogo Sakata, who’s known for voicing Aki Hayakawa from Chainsaw Man. I didn’t know he can produce such a childish voice.
Speaking of Keel, the gang is so creepy. Even when I was reading the manga, they gave me cult-like vibes. The member that Sakura meets on patrol is voiced by Junya Enoki. I’m as shocked as you are! I always familiarize Enoki with heroic roles like Totomaru Isshiki from Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective that it’s sort of hard to imagine him as a villain, but he’s here in Wind Breaker as a villain. This will seriously be a treat to watch because this is probably one of the rare times he’ll voice a villain and I can’t wait to hear it! Rambling aside, Keel is very cult-like because they have such a terrible method of discipling their members. If someone failed to do something, they get hit. It’s seriously awful. I do wonder how Nagato got entangled in all of this.
Even in the finale, the animation still is amazing. The way Anzai was fighting off Keel members and even the part where he was catching the purse thief, who turned out to be Nagato, were so good. My favorite part was when Sakura was chasing after Anzai and the camera pans to him going down the stairs and then jumps down to cut him off. Cloverworks really likes showing off why they’re so good with animation.
I seriously cannot wait for next year. It’s crazy how Wind Breaker is getting a second season already! If you’re curious about what happens next and want to read about, please start from Chapter 42, which is the beginning of Volume 6! Season 1 covered the first 5 volumes! I wonder how many volumes the next season will cover. What are your thoughts on the finale?
Final Thoughts
To be very honest, Wind Breaker was one of those animes that I wanted to watch primarily because of the stellar voice cast and that I had a very sour experience watching Bucchigiri, which was also about gang fighting. However, it slowly became one of the most exciting anime watching experiences I had. It’s because of Wind Breaker that I got a lot more online friends! It’s always nice to meet new people who watch the same things as you! While the anime is fun, I think what I gained these past three months feels as precious. Seriously, it’s such an amazing feeling.
Wind Breaker may be a straightforward story about gang fights and action, but the writing is a lot more heartwarming than you expect. It’s more about seeing the characters, specifically the MC Sakura, learn and grow. We learn why Sakura is the way he is and how being around people is beneficial for him. The concept of him going to a delinquent high school, but it’s also a place where the delinquents also have double duty as police officers of sorts. I also love that the fighting is just pure action and not crazy magic stuff. I love that it’s a little different from the usual delinquent stories in that it focuses more on characters and not fighting all the time.
The characters are the highlight of the show. Each of them have their own unique design and personality. It’s just so nice to see how well they mesh together. Not only does Furin have intricate designs, but Shishitoren does too! My favorite part of the characters is learning that their names have a theme! Bofurin characters’ names all revolve around plants. Shishitoren’s names revolve around animals. I can tell the author took so much time and effort to name these characters. As a writer myself, naming characters is both the funnest and the most tiresome aspect of the writing process.
Cloverworks did an amazing job with the anime adaptation. From the memorable first episode where Sakura goes all out against a gang by himself to animating the Shishitoren fights were so great. Though, my favorite part of the animation was seeing the studio elevate some of the characters’ backstories. I really loved how they animated Togame and Choji’s backstory! Togame got a backstory extension and Choji had such quality detail in his! Let’s just hope they keep that quality next season and not turn it into a mess like The Promised Neverland Season 2. Don’t f*** this up, please. The music was also really nice! The OP and ED songs were catchy and the OST were good! I especially loved the song Stronger! I love how there’s a piano remix of it too whenever something emotional happens.
The voice actors are seriously amazing. They legit casted extremely star-studded voice actors for this anime. We’ve got Yuma Uchida as Sakura, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Suo, Koki Uchiyama as Sugishita, and even Yuichi Nakamura as Umemiya. Look at those names! Shishitoren got some big names too like Yuichiro Umehara as Togame and Chiaki Kobayashi as Sako. If they’re going all out for this season, I can’t wait to see who’d they cast for the Keel characters because having Junya Enoki as one of the members is INSANE!
Like I said before, if you want to start reading the manga, start from Chapter 42 because Episode 13 ends on Chapter 41. I hope that you all had a wonderful experience with this manga! I hope that energy returns next year!

Hi Lee ! Love your elevated but nonchalant approach to dressing 🤍 What are your favorite/ most used clothing or accessories recently?
Hey thanks so much :) I’ve been wearing my Ann D Alec boots, Yohji drop crotch pants, CDG top (it has a cute little Peter pan collar and fanning sleeves), Junya bondage coat, ofc my tabis, and a tonnn of t-shirts. As for accessories, I stick with my day to day gold earrings and necklace but i got the Aya Takano bow drop earrings recently and have been swapping them out with my left piercings. I also got this Jil Sander bucket-esque satchel bag like 2 years ago and I’ve finally gotten around to using it frequently. As we move into colder weather in NYC, I’m sure I’ll don more sweaters and coats with more coverage lol

Final Fantasy X Review
Tumblr media
Year: 2001
Original Platform: PlayStation 2
Also available on: PS3 and PS4 (HD Remaster)
Version I Played: PlayStation 2
Synopsis:
Tidus is a renown blitzball player in the city of Zanarkand. One day, his mysterious buddy Auron whisks him away to the land of Spira after a massive entity known as Sin attacks Zanarkand. Tidus ventures into Spira, a strange world lacking in advanced technology. There, he finds many uncomfortable truths after joining a pilgrimage with the summoner Yuna.
Gameplay:
I will preface this by saying that this was my very first Final Fantasy game way back when I was like 13. I wasn’t keen on handling RPGs yet so it took me ages to finish. The result was me falling in love with everything about it. Final Fantasy X is the last main Final Fantasy game to feature turn-based combat. One of the coolest features of the battle system in this game is being able to switch characters in the middle of a battle. I missed that afterwards. When I played more Final Fantasy games after this, I kept thinking instinctively that you could switch characters in the middle of battle.
Leveling up is conventional but also introduces a Sphere Grid. You gain Ability Points to progress through a grid where each sphere unlocks a special ability or a higher stat. You can pick different paths along the grids and, typically, by the end of the game you are crossing over other character's grids.
The only truly annoying aspect of playing the game was the sphere puzzles in the temples. Every so often you have to enter a temple and solve a puzzle by placing spheres in the right places. It was so mind-numbing and the irritating music really didn't help either.
Tumblr media
Because of how the story is told, the game is much more linear than its predecessors. The bulk of the game is spent journeying on foot across Spira. But don’t worry – there are plenty of secrets and extras to unfold – PLENTY. You eventually get an airship, but instead of flying around a world map you simply pick a destination on a map and you’re there. It sounds lame but the world is already so massive and detailed that Square probably couldn’t fit the graphics of flying around a world map.
Graphics:
The cinematics blew everyone away because for the first time we have VOICE ACTING! JUST LIKE WATCHING A MOVIE! The voice acting worked really well in this game. It was only ever awkward when Tidus was being, uh, really annoying.
Exhibit A:
youtube
The in-game cutscenes can also be a bit stiff.
Story:
Final Fantasy X was my very first Final Fantasy game – as such, I could be biased in how I feel about it. Or maybe not. I’ve grown to be enough of a dick to crush my own dreams.
The story is completely different than the rest of the series. Completely different. While the rest of the series likes to make references to Western mythology and atmosphere (medieval and industrial settings), Final Fantasy X actually has an East Asian setting. There are no knights in armor or empires fighting rebels or even technological powers like Shinra. There are no witches or wizards. The story and references are quite esoteric, more mysterious and conceptual.
Tumblr media
The narrative is radically different from the entire series. For the first and only time (so far), the main character narrates the unfolding events to the audience. After getting sucked out of his homeworld of Zanarkand, Tidus gets caught up in a pilgrimage to defeat Sin. Sin is a massive creature that returns every so often to punish the world for its dependence on technology. (So Sin is basically a kaiju.) A summoner with his or her friends go on a quest to defeat Sin, and the Calm returns for some time until Sin returns.
Tumblr media
Spira is probably my favorite Final Fantasy world. It’s beautiful and haunting at the same, sad and bright. You can tell that there was once a great cataclysm but the long years have overridden the past. The rules of the world are so unique. Monsters are explained as the ghosts of people who have not passed on. A summoner this time not only summons great beings (called aeons) but also “sends” the dead away so they can find the Farplane, essentially Heaven. Like I said before, the concepts of Spira are very esoteric and East Asian. While Final Fantasy X does derive influences from Christian concepts (i.e. pilgrimage, priests, doctrines), it just as much references many Japanese and Buddhist concepts (rebirth, wandering souls, sacred temples). Overall, Final Fantasy X’s story is the most religious and spiritual in the entire series.
It’s relatively rare for a JRPG to take on an entire fictional world with a visual design referencing Asian settings. Usually, Final Fantasy and other JRPGs are more obsessed with Western settings (i.e. medieval towns). Spira is ripe with influences from island nations and places like Thailand and Bali.
Tumblr media
The major plot twist require you to wrap your head around a bit, but surprisingly nothing is truly complicated. For the most part, you follow the story through the pilgrimage, learn some backstory stuff, and then face the end.
There are several “main” villains. For argument’s sake, and for the sake of not ruining any spoilers, let’s go with Seymour. Seymour is a recurring villain who again ups the ante on the bishonen trend. He’s also the biggest pain in the ass out of any Final Fantasy game. Ask anyone who has played this game and they will get Vietnam flashbacks of fighting Seymour. The bastard keeps popping up every so often to hinder the party’s progress. Seymour may look strange, but don’t let that fool you. He is also seriously one of the most fucked up villains in the entire series.
Tumblr media
Tidus is unique in that he is an outsider viewing the story. He tags along and has his own story arc to deal with. Tidus’s story is one of the most personal and relatable. It’s so unique to play as a character who is not a conventional fantasy hero like a thief or a mage or a knight, but a sports celebrity with daddy issues. It’s also unique in that Tidus isn’t even the central character – Yuna is. Yuna is the summoner on a pilgrimage to defeat Sin. Even so, Tidus still plays an important role by falling in love with Yuna, influencing her goals on the pilgrimage.
Tumblr media
In retrospect, Final Fantasy IX appears to be a prototype to Final Fantasy X. Tidus is a version of Zidane, except, unfortunately, a bit more annoying when he tries to woo Yuna. Zidane and Garnet’s relationship mirrors Tidus and Yuna’s; both involve an upbeat male trying to woo a reserved, quiet female. Tidus is the temptation to Yuna’s repressed Catholic schoolgirl personality, advising her to loosen up. The existential crisis that Tidus faces is also similar to Zidane’s.
All that being said, Final Fantasy X is my personal favorite in the entire series. It has its flaws, and yes, it’s a sappy romance. But I love it. I fucking love it. I LOVE IT ALL. I love the world. I love the plot. I love the music. I love all the characters. Auron is so fucking cool. Just look at how cool this guy is.
Tumblr media
And that ending. Oh man. I really don’t want to spoil anything but at the same time. UNGH. This game. It is poetry. Everybody is a real gangsta until they watch what happens at the end.
Final Fantasy X is probably the most unique out of all the Final Fantasy games. Different didn’t pan out well for Final Fantasy VIII. But for Final Fantasy X – different was good, really good.
Music:
Final Fantasy X does a few things radically different from its predecessors. For one, the series’ main theme isn’t featured. That may sound like blasphemy to some. In retrospect, it might have been a good move because frankly I can’t see the main theme being played anywhere in a story like this. The “Prelude” theme is only briefly featured in an opening menu, but this time it’s given a sick beat that makes you want to dance a little jig.
Alas, Nobuo Uematsu begins to detach himself from full reign of the soundtrack. Two other composers, Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano, also co-wrote a bulk of the soundtrack. While Uematsu composed the main themes of the game, Hamauzu and Nakano composed many of the other tracks. While not everything they did was so different from Uematsu, there are a couple tracks, namely “Assault”, which is distinctly unlike something Uematsu would ever compose. I don’t say this in a bad way at all. The score is still golden. But after Final Fantasy X we see Uematsu depart, and Final Fantasy music starts diving fresh into the unknown.
The pop song for this score is “Suteki da ne”. It’s pretty good although I prefer “Eyes on Me” and “Melodies of Life”.
The HD Remaster soundtrack seems to skewer the original sound of the music. I’ve listened to it and was very displeased by what they did to “Assault”, which was one of my favorite pieces. The original soundtrack has more umph, more pomp and circumstance.
Meanwhile, “Otheworld” is a metal song – a first for the series. It plays in the opening when Tidus plays blitzball, and in one of the final battles. “Otherworld” is frequently misattributed to Rammstein, especially back in the days of Limewire. They had nothing to do with it. Uematsu composed “Otherworld”, and Bill Muir, a lead singer from the metal band xtillidiex, sang it.
Uematsu’s fully orchestrated work on the ending scene is masterful. The emotion behind it brings tears to my eye. It wrecks you, man. It pulls those heartstrings and doesn’t let go. It hurts so good to listen to it and remember how the story ends. It is the most emotional track for the most emotional Final Fantasy ending. It is here where you realize that Nobuo Uematsu could really be a movie soundtrack composer. His craft came full circle here.
Notable Theme:
“To Zanarkand” – the main theme of Final Fantasy X. Beautiful, gentle, and solemn.
youtube
Verdict:
Final Fantasy X is my personal favorite. Final Fantasy VI can objectively be called the best, but I have a soft spot for Final Fantasy X. I admire its unique story and its world. It can be campy and corny at times but I love it overall. Objectively, it’s still of a higher caliber in the series.
Direct Sequel?
Yes. Final Fantasy X-2, or also known as Final Fantasy X-2: For Fangirls Who Couldn’t Handle the Ending to X.
 I kid. That was harsh.
 But I mean. . .
They gave this Charlie’s Angels vibe with Yuna, Rikku and this new girl Payne.
Tumblr media
And like I guess it’s cool but like the tone is soooo campy.
And then they sing and it’s like J-Pop and . . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
 Yeah.
This was the sequel.
This was the first Final Fantasy sequel ever made.
And it was. Uh. It was something.
At the time, I could only play about a quarter of the way through before feeling wrong about it. Many critics would agree that it robs the dignity of the original game. I do want to actually try playing it again. I might come into it with a new mind. But. Still. I prefer they leave the original ending untouched.

Gundam NT - Experience and Initial Thoughts
Hello tumblr...it’s only been 94857589746575 years, eh?
Well. So it finally happened. Gundam NT finally got an official run in America, and I finally got to see it. I’ve finally seen the dang mecha movie that I’ve been dying to see since last November.
Finally!!!
But, not without some dramatic mishaps at first (lol).
I was lucky enough to have my local theater showing the movie, but it took them 20 minutes to get the movie running (it was just a dead screen up until then)...only for us to realize it was for Bohemian Rhapsody, and not, in fact, for Gundam NT. Some jokes were made from the other movie-goers (”Gee, Macross sure looks funny!” “Hey Hawthorn you okay there?”) but soon the chatter turned into serious consternation and concern. Eventually, theater staff told us the movie couldn’t be shown because the projector didn’t have it, so we all filed out of the theater to head to Guest Services. While we waited in line to get vouchers (in lieu of a refund), we were also told that staff was working to fix the issue, so we were welcome to go back to the theater to wait it out.
And boy am I glad I decided to go back up, because soon enough, they had it up and running. THANK GOD.
Unfortunately, they skipped over most of the bonus footage featuring the interview and introduction from the producer and director in the interest of time... I’m actually really sad and salty about that, but it’s better than not seeing the movie at all, at least.
And so, after like 30-40 (or maybe more?!) minutes delay...we finally began the movie proper. LMAO.
Before diving into things, a bit of a head’s up:
Frankly, I’m new to Gundam, and I’m by no means well-versed in Gundam lore. Additionally, I’m also not someone who is usually nitpicky about details in animation or story-telling. So, my POV is basically of a casual bystander who happened to check out the franchise, and decided to stick around because it seems fun and interesting. If you’re someone who is more or less opposite to me...then this “review” of sorts is definitely not for you.
Actual movie thoughts under the cut! Not spoiler free!!!
I’m not gonna lie...honestly my memory of the movie is really cluttered and foggy. However, despite this, I still very much enjoyed watching the movie!
So...pacing. I’m no expert, but I seriously feel like this movie could have benefited from getting like maybe 2 hours of screen time rather than an hour and thirty minutes. It felt like the production team was trying to cram SO MUCH into TOO LITTLE time that the whole movie felt really fast. Despite this, the tension build-up was definitely there, especially as we got closer and closer to the end. About halfway into the movie I began to clutch my coat and scarf (it was quite chilly out today) really tightly just out of the continued anticipation of what will happen next...needless to say, my hands are now very sore, lol.
I do wish the plot wasn’t revealed in such a non-linear way. Of course, flashbacks and the like are sure to be used in storytelling, but much of NT’s story-telling felt more like oddly-placed snippets that went back in time, rather than a series of flashbacks. For the most part, I’d say each of the trips back into the past were important and revealed important information...but it made the movie feel cluttered and kind of all over the place. And honestly, the non-linear way NT’s narrative was told made it difficult to keep up with what was going on and how everything tied into it all until the very, very end. That’s probably my one gripe about this movie, I think.
Now, despite the pacing and the scrambled nature of the plotline, NT was still a lot of fun for me to watch, and I think I can credit the fight scenes, the characters, and the acting for that. The fight scenes were thrilling to see on a BIG ASS SCREEN, for one. And then just generally anxiously waiting at the edge of my seat to see how the battle would pan out is of course always a thrilling part of (my so far very short) Gundam experience. Animation-wise I really don’t know if I can say anything, since I didn’t notice anything especially jarring or bad. But, I’m also terrible at noticing small details when it comes to animation, so it could have also missed it.
The characters were a pleasure to watch, in my opinion. Rita honestly seemed like a cooky mystic Newytpe for most of the movie, and it really grated on my nerves. I kept thinking, “Surely there’s more to her than wondering about heaven and wanting to be reincarnated as a bird.” But the very end of the movie finally revealed the more human side of her, and that definitely made me feel better about her as a character. I do wish they could have shown more of Rita’s human-ness, but I suppose in the interest of time, they couldn’t.
Michelle seemed really cool, up until she started to look like a nasty manipulative player with huge stakes on the line. But as more and more of her story unfolded, I began to see the layers of the onion, so to speak. I was glad that she wasn’t just a vengeful person greedy for power, and at the same time I was also glad she wasn’t just another corner in a love triangle. Her humanity was evident, but I wished that we could have seen more of it through showing rather than telling. Ultimately, it was Brick who made the final reveal on Michelle’s true character in his last message to Jona, and I just wish that we could’ve seen more of it through Michelle’s own actions instead. We did get glimpses of it, of course, and I suppose maybe choosing to not show it much was to reflect that side of Michelle’s character--someone who guards her personal emotions closely and puts on a show, a facade for the public to see. But even then, I still wish we could’ve had more glimpses into Michelle’s humanity through her own actions.
Jona, Jona, Jona... Where do I even begin. Ultimately, I resonated with his humanity the most, I think. Seeing how much he still thought about those years with the lab even after all this time, how angry he was with Michelle, how distraught he was over Rita being taken away...it all felt very raw and very human. I guess it was just all very relatable, seeing how emotional Jona could be. I’m a pretty emotional person myself in the sense that I feel emotions very intensely, and it seemed like Jona’s personality was like that, too.
He says a line towards the end of the movie where he’s wondering out loud what is the point of continuing to live. He pretty much wonders, after the only people you cared about have left, after you’ve witnessed such horrendous things, after you’ve had to LIVE through such awful events...what even is the point anymore? I really felt for him in that moment. It made me remember how much I’ve wanted to give up before when everything seemed to be terrible and miserable in life. When nothing seems to go well, what point is there to continue going on, right?
Then there’s the returning characters from Unicorn. I was happy to see all the characters who returned, of course, but MAN...I was SO happy to see Banagher finally, at the very end of the movie. And the words of encouragement he says to Jona...the classic “Even so...” MAN. MAN OH MAN did I cry...! Like I mentioned before, I was already really resonating with Jona in like the prior scene, so the emotion from seeing Banagher again combined with the emotions from HEARING those words of hope...that really did a number on my heart, and in a good way.
The dub cast did a fantastic job, I thought. Normally, I feel like I’m suffering every time I have to watch a dub, but the cast made it work for this movie. I think the only bone I have to pick would be Rita’s dub actress, and that may just be personal preference. I figure the actress was told to sound kind of mystic and airy (since that’s basically Rita’s personality for about 99% of the movie, so that’s a fair direction to take with the acting), but it sounded a smidge too...fake? plastic? for me to really buy into. But again, this is probably just me being picky, lol. I LOVED the acting for the other 3 main characters though (Jona, Michelle, and Zoltan). I have to commend Jona’s dub actor (Griffin Puatu) because he really pulled off a similar tone and feel to Enoki Junya’s acting, I thought. (At least, based on the long preview; I’ve yet to watch the first 23 minutes of the JP version of the movie.) I have other thoughts for the other actors but I think I’ll leave them for another day... Also, I’m merely a fan when it comes to voice acting, so these are purely just the feelings and thoughts the performances gave me as a viewer, and nothing more.
So, after having seen Unicorn AND Narrative, I really get the sense that the story of Newtypes, and I guess Gundam on the whole, is about humanity. At its very core, Gundam is seeking to tell a story about the differences that could tear us apart, but also the humanity that holds us together. It feels like watching a story that tries to remind us that at the end of the day, no matter our differences, we’re all human, and we ought to remember that if we ever hope to survive as a species.
Furthermore, I really feel like Gundam is trying to show the importance of both communication and emotion. Both UC and NT showed how Newtypes can communicate on a higher level, but that communication typically ultimately conveyed the person’s feelings and will. Sure, we got thoughts and important backstory too, but I think the main thing we tend to get from their communications is emotion--what is that person feeling, and how is that emotion then translating into the actions they’re taking. Not only that, but we also then see the subsequent actions taken in response to being revealed someone’s deepest, innermost feelings. Of course, there were times when the person was mercilessly murdered, be it by accident/misunderstanding or out of “necessity,” but there were also moments where the action taken ended up being to withdraw an attack, or to let go of the captured person.
Maybe this is just me going off on a limb, but I think that’s a really important message to take in. Communication is important, but what’s even more important is communicating our emotions to others, and respecting others’ emotions in turn. That’s probably the big message I take away from seeing the Newtypes’ stories in Unicorn and Narrative.
Well, needless to say, I’m now very curious to see how the UC plotline continues on. We’re already slated for another movie this upcoming winter, so I guess I’ll have to wait until then. In the meantime...I suppose I’ll finally get around to finishing Origin (lol). Even if the next movie doesn’t show much of the previous characters, or even if the JP voice cast doesn’t feature anyone I know, I think I know too much of the plot now to be able to abandon the series.
All in all, NT was a fun movie to watch. I definitely don’t recommend watching it if you haven’t watched Unicorn yet, but once you get through Unicorn, NT is a nice way to wrap up the story from that point of the UC timeline.
Now to eagerly await the BD release for those sweet, sweet bonus materials! :3c

Ignis finds out his S/O is a Phantom Thief
Persona 5 x Final Fantasy XV
Intro: Here
Scenario: You are Here
Headcanons: Here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ignis was up and out of his chair before the door had even opened. Just as you swung his front door open, you walked in and he instantly held his arms out for a hug. You crossed his living room and walked into his arms, wrapping yours around his torso.
“It’s late, darling,” he said. “I was getting worried.”
You hummed into his shoulder. “Something came up, and we ended up staying in Shibuya longer than expected.”
“Is everything alright?” he asked. You stiffened slightly when he said that and turned away to avoid eye contact.
“Yeah,” you quickly said. Not even a beat after you asked, “Did you eat yet?” You separated from his hug and dropped your bag and slipped out of your jacket. He stared at you with unreadable eyes before helping you hang your school blazer on the coat rack.
“No, I was waiting for you.”
You huffed. “I thought I told you not to do that anymore.” As if it was on cue, your stomach growled. Ignis’ eyes glinted with amusement and you blushed. “At least...in this case, it’s helpful, I’m famished.” Trying to get to Makoto and meeting Kaneshiro was already tiring, then introducing her to the Metaverse and crossing paths with the criminal’s shadow was absolutely exhausting. Ignis had a small smile quirking up at the corners of his lips and he pulled you in for a quick peck on the lips.
“Why don’t you go freshen up, I’ll reheat the food for the both of us.”
“You wouldn’t mind if I showered, would you?” you asked, already heading towards his spotless bathroom.
“Not at all, just finish up quickly.”
“And you wouldn’t mind keeping track of my phone, would you?” You pointed to your bag and Ignis’ eyes zeroed in on the phone charm that was hanging off of it.
“My mom is supposed to send me some of her papers and she wants me to forward it to this one site. She’ll want me to respond right away, so she’ll nag if I don’t,” you explained, walking off to his bedroom to grab some spare clothes for wear for the night.
“I’ll take care of it,” he simply said as he grabbed your phone from out of your bag.
“Thanks, Iggy!”
Ignis silently stirred the pasta sauce on the stove, listening with keen ears for the possible phone chime that you asked him to watch out for. Just as the sauce started to bubble, a text message was sent to your phone that was quickly followed by another one and another one. The adviser lowered the heat and quickly toweled off his hands. As he walked over to your phone on top of the kitchen island, he pushed up his glasses and was immediately confused to find out what your friends were sending you.
His eyebrows knit in confusion. Anxiety built up as friend after friend sent messages to the group chat saying words like, “I’m sorry I was so reckless guys. Don’t worry about the money, I’ll deal with it.”
Immediately afterward the one with the dyed hair—Ryuji if he remembered correctly—told her not to worry about it, you guys were a group so you would deal with it together. Slowly, message after message came in and Iggy pieced together the puzzle.
Somehow you and your friends were blackmailed into owing Kaneshiro, the greedy crime lord, 3,000,000 yen in less than three weeks.
He had known that you had been acting weirdly in the past few weeks, or maybe even months. You had more money to spoil him lately, and you’ve become more secretive about your whereabouts, but he didn’t think that you’d resort to crime.
Right on cue, you walked out of his bathroom. Steam filtered out like a chimney and you walked over to him as you toweled your hair dry.
He wondered if this was all one big misunderstanding, or if your friends were playing on one big inside joke. You held no sign of guilt or worry about your possible situation.
Even though Iggy was a man that liked to avoid issues as much as possible, this was one thing that he couldn’t possibly look around. Iggy cleaned up after the people he cared around. He would clean Noctis’ room, tidy up shelves, take out the trash, and he would bandage Gladio when they found themselves in the training room at the same time. He obviously cared about you so he would fix your messes.
Just as you gently folded up his towel and draped it across the back of a chair, you noticed how off he seemed. You tilted your head.
“Iggy, what’s wrong?” Ignis looked up and looked you in the eye. He sighed in personal defeat and held up your phone. You narrowed your eyes as your lock screen lit up. One after another, you got a message from your teammates, and you knew exactly what they were talking about.
Your blood ran cold.
How did I forget about them? you asked yourself. Does he—does Ignis know?
“Darling, what is the meaning of this? Have you been involving yourself with illegal activity?” You stiffened like a brick. “What’s this issue about you owing money to Junya Kaneshiro?” Ignis doesn’t give you an opportunity to answer. He shakes his head with a exhale and moves on. He crosses the kitchen and closes the space between the two of you. “That doesn’t matter right now, I have money saved up—”
“No!” you automatically said. You understood now. Ignis knew that you and your friends were in a tight spot with Kaneshiro with the money and the deadline, but he didn’t know about your secret. You took your phone from his hand and shook your head. “I know that you’re worried about me, but don’t sweat it, okay? I’ll deal with this on my own.”
This made him frustrated.
“[Name], if you think that I’m just going to leave you to fend for yourself in a situation this big—”
“Ignis, you already do more than enough caring for everyone,” you tried to say in a soothing voice to calm his nerves. “And I know that you’re worried out of your mind for me, but I promise you that I can handle this.” You took his hands in yours and laced your fingers together. You stared him down in his green eyes to catch him of any hidden emotions.
“Love, you are my world, and I will be worried beyond belief if I had a chance to help you, yet I didn’t do anything. What kind of lover would I be if I did that?”
“You don’t need to worry about the money or anything because I will deal with it, okay? Junya Kaneshiro will be ours for the taking,” you said. “So I need you to promise me you’ll stay put.”
Ignis inhaled, and wouldn’t break contact with you. It was a battle of wills, and you had the upper hand in this. Eventually, he sighed and nodded. You let out all of the stress you were holding in out in one big exhale, and finally tackled him in for a hug. Reluctantly, he hugged you back, and the two of you dropped it for the rest of the three weeks.
“Leaving so soon, Iggy?” Gladio’s deep voice rumbled as Iggy made his way down the Citadel’s pristine stone steps. The past few weeks have passed, and even though Ignis told you that he wouldn’t, the bespectacled man was beyond with worry. Ignis held a thick leather briefcase in one hand, filled to the brim with the money that you and your teammates were supposed to owe. He planned to drive to Shibuya himself and present the man with the money to free you from the debt despite your wishes.
“Yes, unfortunately, I have some business to attend to, so I’m afraid our prince will have to live off of cup noodles for the night,” Ignis casually said, opening the door to his car. Gladio scoffed with his hands in his pockets.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
“It might not be to you, but everyone else knows that—”
Ignis was suddenly cut off by one of the large monitors mounted to one of the largest skyscrapers in Insomnia.
“We will now present the evening news,” the lady on the TV said, shuffling the papers in front of her. Her voice was amplified throughout the bustling city, and the crowd below stopped to listen. “The crime lord Junya Kaneshiro has turned himself into the police and confessed to all of his crimes. His arrest was unprecedented since the police have been after him for several months now to no avail, only for him to walk himself in.” The anchorwoman continued to talk about his lengthy list of crimes, but then the murmurs beneath started to grow in volume, stealing Ignis’ attention.
“That Kaneshiro guy was part of the mafia, do you think he was under the influence or somethin’ when he turned himself in?”
“Are you crazy?” the other guy said. “No way! It’s totally that Phantom Thieves doing!”
Gladio and Ignis stayed put as that word triggered a mass conversation of everyone trying to talk over another.
“There were tons of posters posted all around Shibuya! Ya know that one small part of Japan’s main city. They kept on saying somethin’ about stealing his heart and making him confess! And look! It really happened!”
“That’s impossible! Who has ever heard of stealing hearts?”
“You’re saying that after you’ve seen some of the stuff our king and his Crownsguard has done?”
“The police are taking all of the credit!”
“But have you seen the Phansite? It’s blowing up! You have to check it out!”
Ignis had enough listening in and turned to Gladio. The Shield shrugged helplessly at Ignis’ gaze and dropped his hands back to his sweater’s pockets. Ignis huffed and leaned in his car to put his briefcase in the shotgun seat. He climbed in the drivers, but now with a new destination.
As he drove to your apartment, he planned out just how he was going to confront you about being a Phantom Thief.
Extra:  (because there was an insane lack of the Phantoms)
The moment you walked into Iggy’s apartment, you had to stop, shocked, and wonder if you were in the right one. The smell of amazing food drifted through the air, making you hungrier by the second, but you couldn’t focus on the growling of your stomach when almost every surface inch of his kitchen was being covered by ingredients, mixing bowls, bento boxes, and dishes.
“Uhhh...Iggy...?” you finally asked. “What’s going on?” You dropped your bag at the alcove near the shoes, seemingly the only spot that didn’t have any pots and pans around.
Ignis popped up from around the corner, dunking shrimps in tempura batter. He gave you a short, “Here, darling,” before disappearing into the kitchen again to drop the shrimp in the fryer.
“You’ve never told me that your friend’s diet is absolutely atrocious,” he commented offhandedly as he multi tasked.
“Yusuke?” you asked as you stepped closer. You walked across his kitchen like a man walking through a mine field. “He’s horrible with money so...”
“Exactly,” he said. “That’s why I’ve prepared multiple meals for him.”
“Multiple meals?” you gaped at the understatement. “Are you trying to fatten him up?” You understood how Ignis might see Yusuke as underweight, but he was mostly slender for what it was worth.
“Some of the lunches are for your remaining teammates. It seemed unfair that I was cooking only for him when you are a team.”
“I-I guess?” you asked, more confused than anything. You looked at one of the bento boxes and saw that Ignis had stuffed it to the brim with food that was still warm and delectable.
“Let me finish this up for the night, then we can head over to LeBlanc tomorrow and present these. Please text your friends beforehand.”
“Delicious!” Ryuji cried with his mouth full. You stared at him with slight disgust as he continued to stuff his face with rice. Leaning back in your chair, you looked over at Ann who was humming with happiness when Ignis presented her with his chiffon cake.
“It’s so moist and fluffy!” she cried, taking another bite. Ignis wasn’t saying much, but you can tell that your boyfriend was practically glowing with happiness from all of the compliments he was getting.
“This arrangement...The colors...It’s absolutely perfect...” Yusuke muttered, poking his food with his chopsticks. His eyes glinted with slight madness. He finally took a bite out of the dish. “This is delicious. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it before.”
“Thank you so much for taking your time out of your day to make us food,” Makoto said with a soft smile. “It’s wonderful, are you a professional cook?”
“Not at all,” Ignis said as he took a sip of his coffee. “I treat it merely as a hobby.”
“Ya know,” Ryuji said, finally swallowing, “We were a bit suspicious about you knowing about our secret and all, but if this is what we get, then welcome to the Phantom Thieves!”
“I’m honored,” Ignis replied. Akira gave a small nod.
“What did I tell you?” you asked in a sing-song voice. Morgana stood on his hind legs and pawed at the fish that was on the edge of the table. He snatched it and immediately dashed off with a glint in his eye.
“No wonder you weren’t that impressed when we went to that buffet! You’ve been mooching off this guy and hiding him from us this entire time!” Ryuji said.
“You know I’d appreciate it if you didn’t make me sound like such a shallow person!”

Vlisco: distinctive African print fabrics | The true orginal dutch wax prints
Vlisco has been designing and manufacturing distinctive fabrics loved by African women since 1846. The specially crafted fabrics – Wax Hollandais, Super-Wax and Java – continue to be made with time-honoured methods and materials in Helmond, the Netherlands.
For over 170 years, Vlisco has created more than 350,000 original textile designs. Many of these designs have become cultural treasures, bestowed with special names and meanings by the merchants of Central and West Africa.
New designs are produced each year alongside traditional classics to hearten the new generation of Vlisco enthusiasts. Vlisco’s highly expressive and creative customers transform the fabrics into fashionable looks, which are one of a kind.
Inspired by Africa, made with a technique derived from Indonesian Batik, designed in the Netherlands, Vlisco’s heritage and design signature is a multicultural melting pot of beauty and industrial craftsmanship.
Africa's Fabric Is Dutch
By ROBB YOUNG / NOV. 14, 2012
“This early chapter in Vlisco’s history has prompted more than a few intellectuals and cultural commentators to question or criticize the company for building a business on products that they say are not entirely authentically African. Vocal among them is the Nigerian scholar Tunde M. Akinwumi, who published a paper in the Journal of Pan African Studies in 2008 titled “The ‘African Print’ Hoax.”Many others, however, view Vlisco’s Afro-European heritage with far less suspicion. The celebrated British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare, whose work explores colonialism and post-colonialist race and class, has referred to Vlisco as “cross-bred,” and he uses its fabrics to create many of the European-style Victorian-era dresses that make up his work. And many of Africa’s fashion designers have long chosen Vlisco for their collections.Odio Mimonet, who shows at Lagos Fashion & Design Week, said that when she started her brand 16 years ago, she began buying Vlisco fabrics “for the smoothness of its feel and the steadfastness of the dyes, not to mention the vitality of its colors and the fact that it is timeless, somewhat classic and also lasts a lifetime.”
...
Hans Ouwendijk, chief executive of Vlisco Group, says that although a small number of European fashion designers like Dries van Noten, Jean Paul Gaultier and Junya Watanabe are experimenting with Vlisco fabrics, the majority — some 95 percent — of the company’s sales are generated in Africa.
