The slow braised Black Angus Prime Beef Rib was tender and soft with the right amount of fat in there and the gravy was rich and flavourful. Here are the bits and pieces I picked up walking among the different food stations. I love the Truffle Mashed Potatoes with the subtle perfume of the earthy fungus.
See, I told you I went for more of the Salted Egg Prawn and also picked up a piece of the barramundi which while meaty wasn’t a hit with my palate as I found it on the plain side. Dining partner came back with this Pan-Fried Lobsters from the Indian Station. Unfortunately, it was overcooked and the flesh was dry.
The wait staff were busy serving drinks with a skewered lychee perched on top. They came over to our table as asked if daddy (that would be moi) would like one. I nodded, not sure how to response as my “son” opposite me is a colleague. :D A non-alcoholic Fruit Juice Cocktail was placed in front of me. I think it was just a concoction of lime juice and canned lychee syrup in there but refreshing, nonetheless.
Later in the evening, the staffs were handing out Goodies Bag to male diners or at least men who look like fathers. I got my office’s “son” with me so they gave one to me. The perks of being a “father” minus the responsibility! :D The bag contains a 20% off return voucher for a certain buffet theme as well as an Inductive Charger for handphone.

God sometimes I remember how much fun cooking is.
I made 7 separate dishes/food things today. Took me 4 hours in total and I’m thriving I won’t have to make food for the next two weeks.
#two types of chicken. first time making salsa verde. crispy pan fried potatoes. caramel syrup for coffee. nuka cola syrup.#and lastly honeycomb candy.#bones speaks#I forget sometimes that i am in fact an incredible cook when I put my mind to it

hey. you there. listen to me. look at me. do not cook steak on a hot plate without a hood fan, okay? promise? that little goblin in your mind craving to bite and rip and tear is lying to you. yes that barbecue sauce glaze and spice blend will simmer really nicely at first, but you will fill the entire basement suite with smoke and you will nearly die because of it. understood?
making the side veggies is okay, adding a little bit of potato salad with a dollop of sour cream won't do any harm, but do NOT! cook! the steak! without! a hood fan! no matter how tempting it sounds.
mistakes were made today. very yummy and juicy mistakes! but mistakes, nonetheless. consider this a learning experience.

Literally so tired of every dinner of the past 3 nights getting ruined by everyone else's horrible food tastes
#first they WATERED DOWN the butter chicken curry#it was runny like water and you could not taste it#the corn we had as a side dish had more flavour#last night was pork roast and potatoes. BLAND. Am back to pack my dinner from Western Boy Express on the way back from office. Ordered the S$8.90 Chicken Steak Aglio Olio (鸡扒蒜香意面) plus add in S$3 set meal and extra S$0.50 takeaway box surcharge. Trust me, it is worth to make it a set meal as you get a crisp salad, cheesy fries and creamy mushroom soup to go with the main course. The pan-fried boneless chicken thigh can barely fit inside the box atop the olive oil-based spaghetti. The skin is charred and crispy while the chicken still remains juicy and tender.

I'm literally such boywife material like look at the meals I've made
#if it feels like i repeat ingredients a lot it's cause i do#i use csas so it usually repeats a lot when in season#so much kale...#im not complaining tho i love kale#all of the meals are either vegan/vegetarian/pescetarian btw#i eat locally caught fish from a family that lives nearby#they catch a lot of invasive species and mostly non-commercially fished seafood so its pretty environmentally friendly and super local#so i eat their fish once or twice a week#besides that im vegetarian#first pic is stuffed zucchini with garlic kale rice#second pic is vegan pad krao pao#then pan fried porgy with roasted new potatoes and kale salad#then a potato and kale hash#and finally briam which is a greek dish consisting of baked potatoes zucchini tomatoes and onions

made myself the most delicious dinner but am haunted by how little work i’ve got done today
#plant rant#after the unpunctual start i only managed to get one reading done in the library before i was fully falling asleep#so i went home to have a nap#and then didn’t set an alarm even though i thought i had#so i slept for two hours#which was meant to be time for essay writing#and then i had to go straight to my lecture and by the time i got home it was time to think about dinner#now i’m here and i still have to read edward ii for tomorrow#but i also want to watch taskmaster#so i guess the challenge is can i read the play in under 2hrs#stay tuned#my dinner was pan fried chicken and mashed potatoes and spicy broccoli btw
