Omg can you show us your baby mantids 😭
Yes!!!!!!
This one is Peri, it’s a grasshopper mantis(possibly Yersiniops). I obtained it a few weeks ago on my trip to Arizona, it’s very jumpy!
This one is Helion, possibly Stagmomantis limbata, and is about 3 months old as of now! I know its exact hatch date(April 19) because a coworker brought in an egg case to work and one day it started hatching.
It’s definitely been interesting to take care of them, I’ve been catching bugs every few days to feed them. I have to be pretty patient with Peri(and Helion when it was younger) because they get so spooked if the prey is too large.
Here’s Helion on its first day :)
And together they are “perihelion”!
