imagine miguel and peter breeding a bratty readerâŠđđ
exactly what it says on the tin âđŒ this one comes with cockwarming and a liiiiittle bit of free use
minors STAY AWAY!!!!
to say the least, cockwarming miguel and peter wasnât your fucking new yearâs resolution. and yet here you were, stuffed under their work desk in the lab, your throat uncomfortably full with miguel, and peterâs cock gently twitching in your guts⊠to top it all off, they were fucking edging you.
âhalf an hour, and then we can play, bumblebeeâŠâ peter mumbled, smacking your ass as your hips inched back and forth. the motherfucker knew how much you hated his corny little nicknames, too..
you could not take any more of this. throwing your head up and down, your attention turned to miguel now, tongue running over the slit of his cock.
immediately, he bucked forward, gasping out. âitâs- mmh, shit- paloma, itâs sensitive down there..â you didnât let up, making him gasp and moan even harder, forgetting himself. all of a sudden, peter reached under the desk, pulling you into his lap.
âhalf. an hour. more. or do we need to stop early because youâre feeling so needy, babyâŠ?â you liked pissing peter off. smirking a little, all you did was whine as grind your wetness into his clothed thigh. looking at the damp spot you left on his sweatpants, miguel huffed a little⊠shit, that was hot.
â
you didnât know how much more of this you could take. maybe it was time to concede that you fucked up here, that you should have just been patient. bent in half, you felt your mind going fuzzy, close to bursting as miguelâs cock bloomed inside you, tight against your walls. you had already come twice, once from peterâs tongue, and another time against their fingers. you were an overstimulated mess.
âmmh- doesnât fucking- fitâŠ!â you whimpered, squirming as peter held you upright. the slow feeling dragging in and out of your pussy, he rubbed your clit, trying to help you accommodate miguelâs size.
âcome on, honey,â he purred, the circling making your hips jump. âdonât tell us that we have to make it fit.â he kissed your neck, giving you a momentary relief, before pushing your hips down, against where you and miguel met. throwing your head back, you were reduced to a mess.
âgodfuckingdamn- more, please-â you begged. miguel bit his lip as the newly-applied force made him bottom out inside you.
âgod, mâ in your fucking guts, linda,â he said, pumping you full. âgonna make you nice and full with my kids, then maybe youâll know how to behave.â he quickened his pace, his orgasm soon approaching. you clenched around him, aroused at the thought.
âyou want that, honey?â peter asked, yanking your head back by your hair. âgonna fuck a baby into our bratty girl?â
âyes- yes, fill me up,â you begged, completely cockdrunk, your jaw slack. âgonna have triplets by the time this is over,â you mumbled. peter laughed at you, delighting in how pathetic and needy you had become.
âyou heard her, miggy.â
almost by command, he let out a wail, a hot feeling taking over your body as he released inside you. peterâs grip on you loosened as you turned to putty against the two, completely elated.
you certainly werenât going to bother them anymore. returning to work, as if nothing happened, they tapped away at their computers while you slumped down on the desk to rest.

PAIRING: Javier Peña x Original Female Character
SUMMARY:Â Down on the west coast, we got a saying...
WORD COUNT:Â 6.1k
RATING: 18+ Mature topics such as sex, drugs, murder, the occult, religion, cannibalism and other triggering matters will be explored in this body of work. Minors DNI.
CHAPTER SPECIFIC TAGS:Â A sexy performance by our main character, he's absolutely whipped, THEY HUG FOR THE FIRST TIME !!, is it really a slow burn if they don't yearn for one another, an insufferable dad, speaking of dad back on my dbf!Javi bs, other things that I'm probably forgetting.
DISCLAIMER/WARNINGS: The Javier Peña referenced in this body of work is solely based off of the character that appears in Netflixâs Narcos and not the actual person. Very canon divergent and I will tweak things as I see fit to compliment the narrative of this story. While efforts have been made to be accurate in terms of canon timeline, a lot of details will be fictionalized, including the usage of the song(s) that Paloma will perform throughout the story.
A/N:Â hi friends! hope you all enjoy this chapter, i was completely smitten while writing this since i'm such a needy little thing when it comes to a good slow burn ship lmfao also i love how we've all collectively decided that javi is lana del rey coded like SO true bestie !! like i love me some flirty!Javi okay sue me !! let him flirt with all the women !! anyways feel free to drop any type of feedback/support on this blog or ao3. i'd really appreciate it <3

Paloma is feeling wildly fervent tonight, a side effect of the eventful days sheâs been having. Sheâs been buzzing with excitement to get up on the stage and exude all the feelings sheâs been wrapped up in through music.
Between Javierâs âwill they wonât theyâ repartee and Augustâs piquant personality; these men have been bending her will to remain strong. Itâs a peculiar thing, reminiscent to the stories she reads or movies she watches.
Paloma hasnât stopped to think about it in a logical sense, where these newfound ârelationshipsâ can go, and frankly she doesnât want to stop and think. She just wants to be⊠to allow herself to indulge in the pleasantries of their attention. Â
Sheâs at the bar two hours before sheâs set to do her gig, cheerfully enjoying the company of her best friend as she drinks her signature root beer and muddled cherry mocktail. She eyes the new karaoke machine thatâs just recently been acquired and leans in to get Sloaneâs attention.
âHas anyone used it?â She gestures to the machine and Slo shakes her head, wiping down the counter.Â
âNo, but I think youâd be the perfect person to break it in. Pretty sure I saw some Madonna songs on thereâŠâ Sloane tells her in a sing-song tone, causing Palomaâs eyes to light up and she hops off the bar stool to walk up to the stage where it was. It consisted of a large television set and the actual karaoke machine.
She plays around with it for a few, familiarizing herself with the controls before sheâs skimming through the dozens of available songs.
The evening crowd has started to file in, she doesnât even realize since sheâs been too busy figuring the machine out. She lets out a delighted sound of glee once she sees that Like a Prayer is one of the available songs and wastes no time in selecting it.
The song begins and she takes her position on the stage, few eyes on her. She doesnât even need the large teleprompter for the lyrics. Bringing the microphone up to her lips, she begins to sing the intro softly.
Paloma sways her hips when she needs to, keeping up with the song as itâs one of her all time favorites. Sheâs done a variant of this performance in her bedroom with her hair brush many of times.
As the final notes fade away, Paloma finds herself nearly breathless, her heart still racing from how fun it was. The applause washes over her like a wave, enveloping her in a blanket of appreciation.
With a wide smile adorning her face, she gracefully bows and waves to the audience before delicately placing the microphone back on its stand. As the jukebox resumes its melody, filling the void left by her absence, she makes her way back to her spot at the bar counter, basking in the warmth of the moment.
âYou know how to put on a show!â The compliment comes from a redhead sitting in the stool closest to her.
âThank you.â Her mouth curves into a smile as she eyes her. A bride sash draped horizontally over her torso with the small veil clipped in her hair and sheâs dressed in all white. Thereâs three other woman behind her whom she assumes is the bridal party. âAnd congratulations.â She raises her glass that had been replenished courtesy of her best friend.
They cheers then engage in some small talk when the bride, Wendy, confirms to Paloma that they are out for her bachelorette celebration. They had some car troubles in the middle of their travels to Austin which led to a rest stop here in Seminary until morning.
It wasnât how she had planned to celebrate the trip, but there was nothing she could do about it so sheâs making the best of the situation.
This has an idea pop into Palomaâs head, empathetic as ever, and she says her goodbyes once the band arrives. The plan is simple enough; perform some of her more sultry songs for the stranded bridal party in hopes to make their night a little more entertaining. It doesnât take much before sheâs got her band on board, tapping on the microphone to get everyoneâs attention when she returns to the stage.
Javier did not plan on being at The Whiskey Fox tonight, especially with the lack of sleep heâs endured recently. Not that he hasnât dealt with it before, but itâs been on an unforgiving incline as of late.
The worst part about his insomnia is how inconsistent it can be. He could go weeks with little to no sleep then suddenly a period where itâs all he does. Hasnât hit the latter of the cycle just yet, but he can feel it creeping up on him at an agonizing pace.
Itâs a complete shit show and infuriatingly lonely. He wouldnât admit to the latter, however.
Exhausting himself throughout the day with hopes that heâll be bone-tired by the end of the night, he makes an impromptu stop at the bar where hopefully a glass or two of bourbon will have him easing into sleep the second he makes it home.
Itâs a long shot, nothing irregular of what he does on a regular night, but fuck, he really needs to get some rest. He can only function off coffee and nicotine for so long.
The bar is in high spirits the second he steps foot in, and with that comes the reminder that itâs a weekend night which meansâŠ
Eyes drift over to the stage and sure enough, sheâs front and center, and he fights the urge to gravitate towards her.
Instead, Javier opts to sit at the bar, easily getting Sloaneâs attention and ordering his bourbon.
âYâknow⊠I think this is the first time youâve in been here while Iâve been on shift. You hidinâ from me, handsome?â She begins with a teasing simper, expertly pouring the drink.
Javier chuckles briefly, giving her a once-over, âHad I known a pretty little thing like you was tendinâ the bar I woulda been in here much more consistently.â Flirtatious as ever, despite his exhaustion, brown eyes meeting her gaze as she diligently sets the glass in front of him with a vivacious grin.
âOooh, youâre a sweet talker. I like that. Not many darinâ boys âround here.â She leans forward, making a point to press her breasts together to show off her cleavage which he shamelessly ogles.
âSâa good thing Iâm not a boy, sweetheart.â Bringing the glass up for a sip, their stare isnât broken and she cocks her head to the side in interest.
âA great thing, even. Youâre all man.â Her southern accent drips with sensuality, the suggestion hanging heavy in the air between them. For a fleeting moment, Javier entertains the idea of inviting her back to his place to relieve some tension and get some rest, but before he can act, sheâs whisked away by another patron.
Divine intervention, Javi thinks, since his interest for her drops the second he hears Palomaâs voice. Placing some cash on the counter, he moves over to the table heâs accustomed to sitting at, distancing himself from the distraction with great tits behind the bar.
â«
His attention now fully on the woman on stage, her honeyed voice and the movements of her hands as they trail along the length of her body, diligently tracing her curves.
He canât keep his eyes off her. Clad in a sleek black dress with a sweetheart neckline, its hem teasingly grazes the curve of her thigh. She radiates an effortless sensuality. Her mid-thigh high boots elevate her stature, causing her back to arch ever so subtly, drawing his gaze to her ass.
Her hips sway with a tantalizing rhythm that ignites Javierâs imagination, conjuring images of her poised above him with his cock drilling deep inside of her.
The glass in his hand suddenly feels heavy as his thoughts get dirty, so he takes a long sip, relishing the fiery sweetness that burns down his throat.
Javi finds himself completely entranced, lost in the melody of her voice. As Paloma begins her descent from the stage, weaving her way through the tables scattered around the room, a sense of anticipation stirs within him. With bated breath, he shifts in his seat, eagerly awaiting for her to approach him.
She continues, tastefully interacting the patrons nearby, pocketing bills that are being handed to her. She handles it suavely, tucking the wads of cash in the band of her boot thatâs pressed against her thigh.
Javierâs eyes fall to the area as she does this, running his tongue over his teeth and truly contemplating if staying away is worth it all. He digs into his back pocket, fishing out the leather wallet and swiftly pulling out whatever was in it to give her.
Itâs then that she approaches him, the spotlight making Paloma look more radiant than any star heâs ever seen. Their eyes meet in an enchanted gaze, his lips tug up into a cocky and expectant smirk in which she matches before slowly rounding behind him, almost singing in his ear.
âTe deseo, cariño, boy, itâs you I desire.âÂ
Javierâs jaw ticks as her touch runs along the expanse of his broad shoulders, and before sheâs able to leave him completely, he slips the bills into her palm and lets it drop from his grasp.
That line was a seductive invitation, crafted for him alone, and he can feel it in the way her lips curve into a smug smile. Was it penned with him in mind, sung in Spanish to tantalize him? The notion ignites a fierce longing within Javier, his skin tingling and body craving her.
Her lyrics, saturated with desire, mirror the very same craving she elicits from him. The hunger in her eyes speaks volumes, a silent plea for the passion they both yearn to share.
She finishes the song, the table of a bridal party praising her drunkenly as the music dies down and everyone begins their applause. Some whistling at her, too.
Javier remains unmoved, reclining effortlessly in the chair, one arm draped casually over its back. His gaze is fixed on her, unwavering, a fresh cigarette dangling from his lips, the tendrils of smoke curling around him lazily. He makes no attempt to conceal his admiration, indifferent to whether she notices his lingering stare. The bold move she just made only serves to fuel him, leaving his infatuation as intense and consuming as ever.
Itâs evident that Paloma seeks his pursuit, craving the thrill of the relentless chase until she willingly offers herself completely. Though Javier typically refrains from chasing pussy, he finds himself captivated by the enticing dynamics of their relationshipâ a tantalizing dance of push and pull.
This experience is vastly different from his usual encounters, where women often yield quickly to his advances. With her, however, the challenge persists, defying his expectations and fueling his intrigue.
For a time, Javier reveled in the thrill of it allâ the fleeting encounters with women at brothels, the allure of one-night stands. The fast-paced rhythm of constant attention and swift hook-ups kept him occupied and amused.
Yet now, a shift has happened.
He finds himself drawn to the unhurried pace of whatever undefined connection he shares with Paloma. Itâs a departure from the whirlwind of his past experiences, and despite its ambiguity, it holds a newfound interest, captivating him in its gradual unfolding.
Itâs building tension, prolonged foreplay to a shared fantasy thatâll only bring them both conflict. Conflict that he doesnât want to be burdened withâŠ
Yet, she makes it so hard to stay the fuck away.
As she vanishes into the depths of the back area, Javier swiftly drains the last remnants of his drink, feeling more restless than when he came in.
It has been days since her last performance, yet she hasnât stopped thinking about that night. It was her first time doing anything remotely sensual as she hadâ and she liked it. It gave her a lot of real confidence and not that of which she pretends she obtains.
Sheâs already preparing herself for the scrutiny sheâll receive from a certain group of gossips at church for putting on such a scandalous performance.
Whatever, she thinks, people were going to talk shit regardless and sheâs never felt more sexier and empowered. The self-assurance she got from people handing her tips and receiving Javierâs undivided attention was exhilarating.
It had been more than enough for her to quickly improvise a specific lyric in her song. For him.
Paloma is at a loss to rationalize her impulsive behavior once she approached him, swept up in a sensation akin to a sirenâs call, drawing in a lost sea captain with an irresistible temptation.
Heâd been more preoccupied than usual, leaving Paloma to grapple with an unexpected yearning for his presence. Their interactions had become fleeting, confined to brief exchanges in passing or hurried conversations over the phone, often revolving around attempts to reach the sheriff.
So seeing him there that night, very present at her gig, she knew she had to do something big to give him the hint that she is very, very interested in doing something, anything with him. Consequences be damned.
Paloma wonât be the one to take it there, thatâs a rookie move. If Javier is as interested as he appears to be, then she fully intends to practice some patience and have him crawling over to her.
Would he actually do that, though? She only knows bits and pieces of his romantic endeavors, and from the little information sheâs gathered; he doesnât seem like the type to chase but she could be wrong.
There is no harm in trying to seduce him, really, and if he rejects her then sheâll take the hint and move on. Itâs not like she wants to date the man or have him fall to one knee asking for her hand in marriage.
No, Paloma just really wants to get laid. Too many nights have came and went where all sheâs dreamed of is the hot, older deputy sheriff screwing her into oblivion.Â
Then at the bar⊠he actually gave her money, matter of fact, he had been the biggest tipper of the night. She contemplated giving the cash back to him, thinking it was entirely too much, but she talked herself out of the idea solely because she found the transaction incredibly hot.
Sheâs cautious not to invest her entire focus in him, so sheâs also been seeing August.
Their time together brings forth a distinct experience, stirring uncertainty about her romantic attachment to him. It wasnât until yesterday afternoon, amidst the tranquil shade of a sprawling oak tree, engrossed in shared reading, that an almost kiss cast light on her true sentiments towards him.
Their connection pulsates with an undeniable chemistry, his attention lavishing upon her as if she were the rarest gem. United by their shared interest for literature and idyllic beliefs, he breathes vitality into the stifling surroundings.
While the opportunity for a shared kiss lingered, Palomaâs thoughts persistently drifted toward Javier, rendering the moment bittersweet.
Lost in her own thoughts amidst the task of pulling weeds from the garden, she remains oblivious to the persistent ringing of the landline inside. Only as the sound penetrates her consciousness does she snap out of it.
Hastily removing her gardening gloves and rushing inside, she reaches for the phone just before its final ring.
Itâs Lola from the bar letting her know that a letter has just been dropped offâ addressed specifically for Paloma.
She is confused yet intrigued at the news, and in no time sheâs in town; sitting on top of the counter ripping the poor envelope open and scanning the words on the piece of paper.
Apparently, the bride who was here last weekend contracts acts from all over Texas to perform at the state fair in Dallas. Seems like Paloma was conspicuous enough to warrant an invite.
A much bigger crowd, her first real chance to branch out by doing something sheâs genuinely passionate about.Â
After freaking out about it with the ladies at the bar, even taking a celebratory tequila shot, Paloma is racing to make it to the station to share the good news with her dad.Â
She hurriedly hops off her bike, not even bothering to chain it to the rack as she snatches the letter and saunters up the steps and into the building overly excited.
Clearly, sheâs interrupted something as both menâs heads snap in her direction with heavy, worried looks in their eyes when she barges in.
âWhatâs wrong? Are you okay?â Her father steps towards her, scanning her for any injuries.
âYes Iâm fine daddy,â she tucks her hair behind her ears to contain some of her excitement since she feels some of the leftover apprehensiveness from before she arrived, âIâm just excited to show you this, look! I got invited to preform at the state fair!â She shoves the paper into his chest and he turns it around so he can read it.
Her eyes are bright in anticipation, searching his stoic face for a reaction.
âSweetheart, this is wonderful...â He trails off and her smile begins to fade at his tone.
âWhat? Whatâs wrong?â She questions, eyes flickering over to Javier who stands almost awkwardly behind the sheriff.
âA girl in Fayette has gone missing. We just got the call. About to head over to help âem out.â The news has Paloma drawing in a breath, all the enthusiasm in her body evaporating as he hands the paper back to her.
âO-Oh, thatâsââ
âThis is amazing news, babygirl. Weâll talk about it more when I get home later, alright? We gotta get goinâ.âÂ
The dismissal breaks her, and thereâs a second where her demeanor shows it but itâs only temporarily as she nods understandingly then steps aside to allow him to maneuver his way into his office.
âState fair, huh? Thatâs huge, congrats bella.â Javierâs voice keeps her from scurrying away and she gives him a small smile.
âThanks, but seems like thereâs more important things to focus on.â She wonât be self-centered by taking up any more of their valuable time. A girl is missing and if they want to come out on top, then their focus has to remain on her and not Palomaâs trivial news.
âYouâre right but that doesnât mean we canât be happy for you.â She lifts her gaze from her shoes up to meet his at the use of âweâ and she melts, instantly.
In his captivating brown eyes, thereâs a delicate balance of gentleness and resolve, causing her knees to weaken slightly. She discerns the subtle golden flecks that add a compassionate depth to his stare.
âYeah, I guess. Just hate that all this is still happeninâ. Iâm assuminâ yâall arenât any closer to findinâ out whoâs doinâ all this, huh?â Since her father doesnât tell her anything except what he needs to, she isnât fully aware of the exasperatingly severity or statuses of the cases.
Javier lets out a heavy sigh, thumb dragging across his trimmed mustache then bottom lip and her eyes zero in on the movement, which she shouldnât find as attractive as she does. âNo, but things like this always take time. Itâs the most frustrating thing about the job.âÂ
She nods, having somewhat of an understanding, âThen Iâll get outta yâalls hair. Leave the mystery solvinâ and savinâ the day to the pros.â Her nose crinkles as she lets out a soft laugh in attempts to lighten the mood.
He gives her a smile that doesnât quite reach his eyes.
Javierâs magnetism is undeniable, his rugged handsomeness coupled with an air of competence that captivates her completely. She senses something more than mere physical attraction. Itâs as if small moments like these are chipping away at the salacious layers of their connection, revealing something deeper and more profound beneath.
âIâll see you soon, yeah? Got those parts for dear Darla cominâ in any day now. Youâll be cruisinâ around town in no time.â He winks at her and she giggles softly, blood pooling at her cheeks in a deep blush that he notices immediately and it makes his chest tighten.
âIâm lookinâ forward to it.â Paloma replies, a bit more shyly than sheâd like but thatâs just what happens when youâre affected by Javier Peñaâs irresistible charm.
They hold each otherâs gaze for a few more seconds, Paloma losing herself in the depths of his warm brown eyes, while Javier savors her presence entirely. Their silent exchange is interrupted as Romeo emerges from his office, oblivious to yet another fleeting moment shared between his daughter and the deputy sheriff, lost in their own world of unspoken emotions.
She is well aware of the copious amount of time sheâs been putting in to her performance for the fair, spending all her free time at the bar with the band rehearsing or in her room piecing together her outfit.
This is her moment to showcase her mastery of the craft, and she seizes it with unwavering determination. To an outsider, the prospect of performing at a mediocre state fair, hours away from home, might seem insignificant. But to herâ itâs everything. Every chord struck, every lyric sung carries the weight of her dedication.
This performance isnât just about the venue; itâs about pouring her proving to herself that sheâs capable.
At first, her father had been really excited for her⊠but as the days dragged by and tensions with the missing person case increased, he began to grow more cynical about it.
With the way things were going, he wouldnât be able to accompany her and thatâs when all the unnecessary comments began. Romeo began to bring up the crime rate in Dallas, hypotheticals of what would happen if she were to get stuck on the side of the road on her way there, even insinuating that her band (which consisted of four members from their church) wouldnât be as reliable as she knows them to be.
It pissed her off every time he opened his mouth to talk on the matter. At first, she just ignored him or said something neutral to appease him, but now that the date was slowly approaching, she found it difficult to keep her rebuttals to herself.
How many times was she going to have to remind him that sheâs a grown up? For some reason, he thinks sheâs still a meek sixteen year old girl that needs his protection.
This is what led to the current argument. Him reluctant to let her go and Paloma insistent on going with or without his âpermissionâ. Before it has the chance to get out of hand, thereâs a knock at the front door and she uses it as an excuse to end the conversation.
Sighing heavily, she opens the wooden door to find Javier on the other side and immediately her frown disappears and she smiles sweetly up at him.
Amidst her intense preparation for the forthcoming performance and his deep engagement at the station, their encounters have become even more infrequent, a departure from their usual routine.
Yet, despite the scarcity of interaction, their bodies seem attuned to each otherâs presence, responding instinctively to the silent symphony of their unspoken connection.
âHey cowboy, whatcha doinâ here?â She crosses her arms against her chest, the screen door still separating the two of them.
âI told you Iâd have the parts in any day now.â Itâs then that she sees a cardboard box in his possession and realization dawns on her.
âOh my godâ no way! Thank fuckinââ Lord almighty, youâre such a saint.â Javier chuckles at her words which has her feeling fucking giddy as she opens the screen door and steps aside to let him in.
âMânot a saint, princesa, but your kind words are appreciated.â They walk side by side, her shoulder softly brushing against his arm, to the kitchen where her father is.
âDaddy, Javierâs here to finish workinâ on sweet Darla.â Thereâs a tinge of bitterness lacing her words as she addresses her father, their previous argument still fresh on her mind but she would rather throw herself off a bridge than finish said conversation in front of their company.
The two men greet each other, making small talk as Romeo thanks Javier for all heâs doing for both the town and the help heâs been extending to his daughter. Paloma boredly leans against the doorframe, waiting for them to wrap up their exchange and Javi can feel her impatience.
When they finally breakaway, Itâs just him and Paloma in the shed, Romeo stuck inside taking an important call. Instead of perching herself on the chair like last time, sheâs leaned over the hood of the car with him, close enough to be able to feel the heat radiating from her body.
âI didnât interrupt something earlier, did I?â Javier asks, picking up on the tension between her and her dad in the kitchen just then.
Paloma doesnât reply right away, eyes trained on his working hands within the engine.
âYou did but it was a good thing. We were havinâ a small argument that was about to turn into a real big fight. Heâs being so anal about not lettinâ be go up to Dallas for the fair. He doesnât seem to understand that Iâm goinâ regardless.â She scoffs with a shake of her head, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
âHe just worries about you⊠doesnât necessarily go about it in the best way but he just wants to make sure youâre safe.â He picks his words as carefully as he can, gaze flickering to her face briefly before returning to the task at hand.
âI know, heâs just so stubborn about it.â
âSounds like someone I know.â
She lets out a genuine laugh, the one that involuntarily brings a small smile to his lips and she elbows him playfully.
âHeâll come around. He sees how passionate you are about your music. Like you said, youâre goinâ to do it with or without him.â Paloma doesnât say anything, thinking his words over knowing that Javiâs right but heâs underestimating how adamant her father can be.
Finally getting the last piece screwed in tight, he stands to his full height and wipes his hands off on a rag, âAlright, go start her up and see if sheâs cooperatinâ finally.â Javier gestures towards the driverâs seat as he slams the hood close and she excitedly leaves his side, flinging the door open and sliding in.
The engine starts with ease and the delighted cheer that comes from Paloma is more rewarding than anything heâs deserving of.
She hops out, throwing her arms around his neck in a hug that takes him back, literally, stumbling over his feet slightly but theyâre kept upright as his hands naturally fall to her waist.
Their bodies pressed together ignites a fervent blaze of desire between them.
Her scentâ an intoxicating blend of freshly bloomed flowers and ripe fruitâ envelops him like a gentle summer breeze, casting a spell he never wants to break.
His fingers brush against the exposed skin from her cropped shirt, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake. The softness of her curves beneath his touch tempts him to explore further, but he restrains himself.
âThank you so much, Javi. You have no idea how happy youâve just made me.â Paloma pulls away first, but not completely, and the position theyâre left in is much more intimate than it should be.
His breath fans over her face, which is just inches apart, if he really wanted to; he could lean in and press his lips against hersâŠ
And he really, really wants to but with Romeo just around the cornerâ he wonât risk getting caught. No matter how enticing and easy itâd be to give in.
âJavi? What happened to officer or cowboy?â He teases, pinching at her hips and she pushes at his chest, finally breaking their embrace.
âRight, forgive me for wantinâ to have a moment of authenticity.â Paloma playfully rolls her eyes, âThank you so much, officer. You have no idea howâŠâ She trails off suddenly and his brow cocks inquisitively.
âYou have no idea how satisfied youâve left me.â
The sultriness in her voice, gleam in her eyes, and those long lashes batting up at him all innocently does nothing but fuel his craving for her.Â
âIf this is all it took to leave you satisfied, hermosa, then youâre in worse shape than I thought.â
She bites down on her lower lip, âThank god I have you here to help me out, hmm?âÂ
And for a split second it feels like something might happen but ultimately⊠it doesnât.Â
âJust doinâ what I can, cariño. You get any more car problems just call me and not ese mecĂĄnico de mierda (shitty mechanic).â
As she leans forward to retrieve the keys from the ignition, he finds himself entranced by the graceful arc of her back, seemingly inviting his lustful gaze to follow its every contour. The gentle slope of her spine draws his eyes downward, her low rise jeans accentuating her plump ass.
âWell⊠I canât call you if I donât have your personal number⊠what if I have an emergency and youâre not at the station?â Paloma can feel his gaze on her and it makes her feel satisfied that sheâs able to capture his attention so easily, closing the car door with her hip and leaning against it.
âThat would just be a downright wretched thing.â As his hand instinctively reaches for the memo book he habitually carries, a silent curse echoes in his mind upon realizing its absence. He does have his pen, though.
With a swift and decisive motion, Javier closes the distance between them. A sharp intake of breath betrays her surprise.
âDonât have paper on me, butâŠâ Taking her hand gently in his, he turns it and begins to write his home phone number on her palm.
Palomaâs heart quickens its pace, his touch a juxtaposition of rough and gentle against her soft skin. She becomes acutely aware of the stark size difference between their hands, his encompassing hers entirely. A shiver dances down her spine at the sensation, the pressure of arousal building.
With a soft exhale, she finds herself unconsciously pressing her thighs together to relieve some of said pressure. The simple act of hand-holding, so mundane, leaves her wanting more of his touch.
The only thing she can think of is how good his large, thick fingers would feel pressed against her clit while he pleasures her. Or curling inside of her and brushing against that soft spot that makes her come undone.
Focus, Paloma, youâre practically drooling.
âMight wanna write that down somewhere soon. The sweat is gonna mess it all up.â Javier teases, letting go of her hand and stuffing the pen into the front pocket of his shirt. The thin layer of perspiration clearly in response to his gesture.
Her eyes widen at the comment and it has her tripping over her words, âY-Yeah Iâll, uh, make sure not to lose this. Like I said, itâd be a bummer if I couldnât get ahold of you in a time of need.â
Her desire continues to simmer and she mentally slaps herself for letting her cool girl facade slip just because he held her damn hand. It doesnât help that the sight of his exposed collarbones has her fingers itching to trace along his chest and explore beneath the fabric.
She fights the urge to succumb to temptation, her resolve tested by the magnetic pull of his presence.
His smirk never falters, absolutely loving to see his effect on her. Itâs only fair, seeing as sheâs always the one who riles him up. âAlright cariño, I better get outta here before we get ourselves into trouble.â
The fragile awareness of their shared moment shatters her reverie, grounding her back to reality.
âOf course,â she replies softly, her voice carrying a hint of wistfulness. Her hand remains steady, resisting the urge to wipe away the lingering warmth of his touch as they head back to the house.
All hands are on deck to find Jessica Valdez, the missing girl from Fayette.
Back in Colombia, everyone was too afraid to speak up when something was amiss in fear of having their lives taken by the vicious cartels that ran the streets. Those who did have the bravery to come forward with information only did so in hopes of getting support and protection from a government that wasnât even theirs.
Consequently, when adversity struck, the flow of valuable intelligence was delayed, impeding the acquisition of pertinent information. This rationale justified Javierâs visits to the brothels, veiled under the pretext of proactive investigation aimed at uncovering critical details essential for combatting the narcos.
The fucking was just a pleasurable addition.
In small communities stateside, however, thatâs all people do. Talk. So, when Javier goes out to do some canvassing of his own; he isnât all surprised by how willingly people are to spill the secrets of their neighbors. By the end of the day, he damn near knows about all the affairs in town, who likes to steal money from who, the mayorâs âillegitimateâ child, and decade long family feuds.
Exactly what he expected to find in small Texan towns.
Like he had told Romeo in the beginning, thereâs always some truth to a rumor. As heâs collecting information about Seminary and the communities that surround it; he comes to find out about a trio of troublemakers that come from one of the towns where one of the earliest victims had been found and their peculiar interest in all things occult.Â
This piqued his interest and upon further investigation; he quickly found the files for Augustus Dixon, Sloane McCarthy and Gabriel Torres.
Immediately, Sloane caught his attention, although her mugshot portrayed her with a more youthful demeanor. The man from Ninaâs funeral, Gabriel, also stood out in his memory. He recalls Sloane mentioning him by name that day he was at the Leighton home, too.
However, the third male remained unfamiliar, his appearance suggesting a rebellious disposition, evident from his file and accompanying mugshot.
The trio had been in and out of jail all their adolescence for petty crimes like stealing, vandalism, public intoxication, fighting and other nonsense. Nothing severe. They were just troublemakers and that is not odd to find in rural areas. Kids get bored and do stupid shit.
Javier would know better than anyone, he did similar things at their age.
Heâs spread out on his couch, glass of whiskey in one hand and file in the other. He is deep in concentration, reading over different police reports and trying to find out where the occult aspect of it comes into play when the phone begins to ring and he lets out a grunt.
Reaching over to grab the receiver, he tucks it between his shoulder and ear as he answers.
âPeña.â
âHey cowboy.â
Her voice has him sitting up straight, discarding the folder in his hand on the coffee table, now fully attentive. Itâs actually kind of pathetic how fast his demeanor changes when it comes to Paloma.
âHola hermosa, a little late to be callinâ, yeah? You should be getting your beauty sleep for the big day tomorrow.â He hadnât forgotten about her performance at the fair, making note of the date the second she told him about it.
âI should be but Iâve got nerves like you wouldnât believe.â She pauses and he can hear her thinking, âDaddy and I just had a fight⊠well I dunno even know if youâd call it that. It ended with him sayinâ he didnât give a damn if I went or not⊠all that fussinâ just so he could say he didnât care in the end. If Iâm actually that insufferable Iâm begginâ you to put me out of my misery.â He chuckles at that and he can imagine her smiling at his reaction.
âDonât be nervous, corazĂłn. Youâre goinâ to do great. You already knock it outta the park at The Whiskey Fox every weekend. This ainât no different.â It is different and he knows it, but he also knows her and how she tends to overthink to the point of anxiety. âYou ridinâ up there all alone?â Not a fan of the idea but he wouldnât disclose this to her, now when he knows how much it ticks her off.Â
âI was gonna hitch a ride with the band, then I remembered I have a car now so I was goinâ to do that butâŠâ
âBut?â
âI want you to come with me⊠if you can.â
The request surprises him, so much so that it prompts him to take a larger drink of his liquor.
âI didnât scare you off, did I?â She giggles nervously at his prolonged silence.
âNo âcourse not. Just figured youâd enjoyed your newfound freedom of being on the road alone.â
âAs fun as that sounds, I think itâd ease my daddyâs nerves knowinâ his glorified babysitter was tagginâ alongâŠâ Javier feels like thereâs more to it than that, especially since sheâs always complaining about being under her fatherâs thumbâ only to go on and continue to pacify him. Before he can ask her about it she continues.
âAnd Iâve never traveled outside of Seminary⊠well not since I was a little girl. Didnât really get out much after mom⊠Just havenât been outta town in a long, long time.â He can sense her coyness at the admission and it does nothing but persuade him into joining her.
Javi should think it over more, the logistics of him being hours away with Paloma, knowing how ambiguous things are between them. However, he swiftly dismisses his apprehensions, feeling somewhat foolish for blowing what might be a trivial matter, out of proportion.
Especially when she seems so nervous to ask for his company.
Finishing off his drink, Javier leans in deeper to the comfort of his couch and he can hear her soft breaths on the other end of the line, anticipating his response.
âAlright, cariño just tell me what time you need me to be there and Iâll be there.â

Master Recs: Horror Cinema!
Do you like Horror films? Yes, you do. Here is a modest selection of 13 cinematic offerings to quench your thirst for seasonal spooks, from lesser-known gems to entertaining schlock and everything in-between. I have good taste and you are welcome.
Renfield (2023), dir. Chris McKay
Renfield rules so hard it hurts, let me tell you. Nicolas Cage as Dracula is already the best selling point imaginable but if you look past the premise, you'll find a heartwarming story about overcoming abuse and codependency, with loads of great action and gore to boot. Good old Nic hams it up to eleven as the Prince of Darkness, channeling the verve of Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee and Lon Cheney all rolled into a deliciously evil sandwich. He's legitimately monstrous and intimidating in a way the character has not been in decades.
It's very effective when he's presented as the abusive "partner" from which Renfield (as in, classic Movie Renfield) is trying to escape. I'm surprised by the lengths the film goes into depicting the emotional trappings of such a relationship - amidst all the funny jokes, that is. It pulls off the unenviable task of being a tonally cohesive Horror comedy, one that leaves no room for doubt as to which moments deserve to be treated seriously or not. Its homage to Golden Age Hollywood cinema and unapologetic queerness are also appreciated.
The House (2022), dir. Emma De Swaef, Niki Lindroth von Bahr, Paloma Baeza, Marc James Roels
The House is a stunning work of stop-motion animation and a solid anthology that explores the existential hang-ups and anxieties of the "Middle Class", crafting solid Horror (and not-so Horror) stories in the process. It has dancing bugs too! I recommend it.
Cocaine Bear (2023), dir. Elizabeth Banks
The last film appearance by the late Ray Liotta. Cocaine Bear is a gruesomely delightful time: a spunky schlock with a killer premise that hooks you up from the start, taking a self-indulgent, humorous sniff at its own status of being "Based on a True Story." This film had the audacity to feature a Wikipedia quote. It's great!
Sweet Home (1989), dir. Kiyoshi Kurosawa
Delightedly, I beheld 1989's Sweet Home, as expertly remastered by Kineko Video. It's a cheesy good time with glorious practical effects and a few, effective low-budget trickeries. I personally give it props for an unexpected Laurel & Hardy's Fra Diavolo reference! This classic is mostly renowned for its videogame adaptation which became a major influence for decades to come.
At the time of writing, the film can be watched on YouTube, making it the most easily accessible entry in this entire column.
Jennifer's Body (2009), dir. Karyn Kusama
It took me this long to finally watch Jennifer's Body, an underrated Horror comedy starring Megan Fox that was unjustly dismissed back in the day. She plays as a literal man-eater, by the way.
There is definitely a lot to enjoy from a modern take on Carmilla whereas the delectably gory blood-feasting works as a backdrop for a toxic high school friendship as well as a commentary on the consequences of sexist exploitation, misogyny and trauma. Save for the occasional slur, it holds up very well.
The Color Out of Space (2019), dir. Richard Stanley
A proper skin-crawler based off the eponymous story by H.P. Lovecraft. Its psychedelic and Stuart Gordon-esque visceral interpretation of the source material is a clever way to circumvent the issue of portraying an "indescribable" alien entity. The Colour, being an unfathomable force outside our science and rationale, serves as a reminder of how insignificant we are in the face of a larger universe we can never hope to comprehend. It works as a metaphor for our atavistic fears.
The film is very much about powerlessness, losing control, losing oneself to the madness or, alternatively, to the realization that nothing was ever "under control." It's Cosmic Horror done right - and also without the racist subtext. Oh, and Nicolas Cage is also in it. I might have buried the lead there.
Gretel and Hansel (2020), dir. Oz Perkins
Here's a scary fairy tale that might have escaped everyone's radar, Gretel and Hansel: a beautifully crafted, meticulously composed film that drenches itself in a disquieting, surreal atmosphere subtly empowered by an alienating soundtrack. It's gripping, to say the least.
The Ritual (2017), dir. David Bruckner
Reviewing and discussing Horror cinema is hard as the truly notable films are best experienced without the burden of knowledge: the viewer should be blindsided by the unknowable terror as much as the characters. That is to say, I can't openly talk about why The Ritual (2017) is great. You should watch it for yourself and get absolutely smack-jawed by the experience.
Society: The Horror (1989), dir. Brian Yuzna
This is unpleasant on an existential level and that, in turn, makes it a really effective Horror. It builds itself as a Kafkian nightmare about the dread of Conformism, feeling out of place in a Society ruled by the white and wealthy, a classic Suburban nightmare scenario. It morphs into an indictment of Capitalism and Classism when the grotesque and revolting third act slimes its way into balls-to-the-wall satire. Bill Warlock (Eddie from Baywatch) puts on the performance of a lifetime as the justifiably paranoid teen protagonist. Shout out to the credited "surreal make-up artist", a man named Screaming Mad George. He did too much of a good job, let me tell you. Needless to say, I recommend this perturbing visual madness with all the content warnings imaginable.
Society waits for you.
Overlord (2018), dir. Julius Avery
I watched Overlord and you should too! It begins as a slickly directed World War II drama before it organically develops into a spectacularly gruesome, intense Action Horror punctuated by a Chef's Kiss of a climax. It gets a special recommendation for the cathartic abuse of nazies! This is the Wolfenstein adaptation you have always wanted.
Willy's Wonderland (2021), dir. Kevin Lewis
Since you can never have enough of Nicolas Cage, here's Willy's Wonderland: a self-aware, genre-flipping, D-grade schlock with the presence of our favourite actor silently and menacingly staring at things - which he does, in spades. The fact that he kills off a bunch of Not-FNAF animatronics is just the icing on the cake! Let me be clear: he does not speak a single word throughout the flick. He's effectively playing "Silent Videogame Protagonist" and his sheer magnetism carries this diegesis to the finish line. A lesser actor would have not been able to pull this off. In all seriousness, Willy's Wonderland works squarely because The Cage was onboard with it. The direction is otherwise unremarkable, the production is even cheaper that one might expect and the rest of the cast is mere fodder. The Cage was its only ace and it played the right hand! That's a whole lot more entertainment value than a film seemingly designed to anger Freddy Fazbear's gooners would realistically deserve. You should watch it if you really want to see Nicolas Cage make sweet love to a pinball machine. Apropos of nothing, did you know that pretentious hack/real life human piss stain Scott Cawthon is a top Republican donor and a pro-lifer? I thought that would be cool information to remember.
The Endless (2017), dir. Justin Benson e Aaron Moorhead
Here's another cosmically disconcerting recommendation for the Lovecraft crowd in the back: if you're looking for a uniquely scary film that deals with the Fear of the Unknown, drowns itself in breath-taking atmosphere and exquisite Uncertainty, I recommend you to watch The Endless. It might knock your existential socks off!
Calamity of a Zombie Girl (2018), dir. Hideaki Iwami
I have kept the "best" for last! Calamity of a Zombie Girl is the weirdest Slasher I have ever seen, mostly due to its inability to keep track of its own genre. It's a B-movie with guts, blood and nudity, a supernatural lesbian romance, a martial arts film and a screwy, goofy comedy all rolled into one cheap-looking animated feature.
The editing is atrocious, constantly abusing the fade-to-black transition without rhyme or reason, the dialogues are inane and contrived, the animation is abysmal (it's a low-budget production by Gonzo, you see) and tonal consistency is downright mythical. In spite of all that, or because of it, the aforementioned bizarre nature of its premise and execution makes it incredibly fun (and funny) to behold, especially when genres collide with each other in relentless, brutal fashion. From the victims' point-of-view (the especially idiotic and ultimately useless extras, I should say) this film plays out like a traditional Slasher flick but from the perspective of the killer, the re-animated zombie girl herself, this is her own action packed Ecchi comedy.
Her first kill occurs as a goof on her part: she shoves a man off like a "dainty dame" and accidentally cracks his skull wide open on a column. Soon after, she rips a guy's arm because he was getting "too friendly" with her and scolds him for his inappropriate behaviour. She then proceeds to have a fight scene with one of the expendable extras because her opponent just happened to be a self-taught Kung Fu master. Also, her undead maid (because of course there's an undead maid) gets kidnapped and she must rescue her! This string of barely held-together nonsense leads to a spectacularly convoluted third act that somehow involves an old abandoned church, a school gym, a game of Anime Sports Ball and a literal Saved by the Bell moment. Did I mention this is all supposed to take place in a non-specific university campus in Japan? Because otherwise you might think the film is happening in two completely different continents! Aside from the immensely idiotic fading transitions, Calamity of a Zombie Girl is hilarious and enjoyable. It's pure, untainted, excellently awful schlock carried to the finish line by the sheer strength of its befuddling ideas. Watch it and tell your friends about it!

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks....
thank you for this question! hmmm i think i'll have to do a top 5 because a top 10 would be wayyy too long and i'll do my best NOT put down 'i relate to them' as a reason for why i love them! the characters aren't in any particular order or rank :)
enjolras from les miserables [book].. this character has been rattling around in my brain for years. he's the revolution incarnate, but his driving force is love. he's described as impossibly beautiful but that's the least memorable part of his character. he can seem cold and terrifying but he's still so obviously young (literally getting compared to a flower by his executioners), relies on and respects his friends, and is so deeply affected by what he has to do. 'the marble lover of liberty' is such a perfect encapsulation of him- fighting, living, and dying for a future he knows he won't ever get to see because of this love is nuts to me. he'll stain himself by committing acts that he knows sentences him to death and punishment even if he'd survived, all for a better future. him telling his fellow revolutionaries and friends that 'he who dies here dies in the radiance of the future, and we are entering a tomb all flooded with the dawn' kind of did something to my brain (keeping in mind he's said the future belongs to love).
marvin and jason from falsettos [musical] :)) there's no way to mention one without the other, and so i've just put them together. i love them because of their dynamic to each other- for context, they're father/son marvin is jason's father, and initially, he's neurotic, self-obsessed, immature, and egotistical. he's incredibly sympathetic the entire way through somehow. he loves his family, he hates that he wants his family to love him, he loves his son, he feels sorry his son resembles him. he tells jason he never wanted to love him. he loves him. his character arc is essentially him growing to become the father jason deserves. for most of the show, jason is disgusted by his father, and he feels that his resemblance to his father is to blame for every negative aspect about him. he's terrified of becoming his father. he says he hates the world but loves his father, he loves the things he never had. marvin thinks jason hates and adores him. but as his father matures and holds himself responsible, by the end of the show, jason is proud that he looks like marvin. i've tried (badly) to explain kinda briefly w/o spoiling the show's plot but essentially! super complex, flawed, but lovable characters who answer the show's initial question of what this family would do for each other even if they wouldn't admit it
paloma from the elegance of the hedgehog [book]! the very distinct and sharp but still childish voice is so delightful and poignant to read.. she's an incredibly intelligent and sarcastic girl, she thinks a lot about the world and she thinks she knows everything there is to know. but no matter how cynical she seems, she is ultimately still a child who craves and responds to kindness, love, and beauty
eurydice (and NYTW hadestown's orpheus too but this post isn't about him) (specifically, eurydice from ruhl's play) ! basically every iteration of orpheus and eurydice all put together has made me adore them. i'm obsessed with the idea that no matter which version of the myth you read, the reason for orpheus turning around is out of love one way or another, with his love compelling him to turn. but ruhl's eurydice is special to me bc i find eurydice's characterization so interesting. classically, orpheus's big act of love is that entire journey to try and bring her back- but eurydice's act of love is more elusive. she's the beloved in their story, but ruhl's eurydice flips the roles and it's genuinely moving to see how much love is held in their one myth.
i'm sorry this writeup is super messy! there are so many characters i adore so much but these are some of my favorite and the ones that popped into my mind when i saw this question.

Have you seen Tetris (2023)? Unrelated: what music do you like, or listen to?
-R
I have seen Tetris, yes! Just a few weeks ago, sometime in March, matter of fact, so your timing is particularly incredible. It first haunted me in music form, believe it or not, I kept getting songs from its soundtrack recommend on Spotify.
While I usually really don't like the KGB is in your walls stuff that the Western films always insist on showing, I'll make an exception for this movie because it's pretty fun. I actually liked the Evil Liar KGB had going on, I thought it was very funny. I do have one complaint about the whole thing, though. I wish the pixel animation was utilised throughout the whole movie, not just in That One Scene... :( Just small, little bits (ha) would have been fine...
Fun (not really) fact: I was first introduced to the character of Robert Maxwell through this movie (you have to forgive me for not giving many fucks about the aristocrats of Britain). I have then immediately learnt that his daughter is Ghislaine Maxwell. The Ghislaine Maxwell. Jeffrey Epstein's partner (in crime). How delightful...
What music do I like... That's a terrible question to ask me because I'm very passionate about music... I have playlists for everything I like, even Chernobyl related one... there's not a free minute in my day that I'm not listening to something. I associate music with everything.
I mean, judging solely by the fact that my wardrobe consists of one too many Sabaton and Rammstein shirts, I'd have to say I'm particularly fond of metal. And punk. And rock. I occasionally listen to Hollywood Undead because I discovered it when I was a... young teen, much too young to be listening to that kind of stuff lmao, and so I feel oddly nostalgic about them.
I really like the... weird and experimental stuff? If it has some kind of a connection with nature, I will probably like it. I've been a long time fan of Cosmo Sheldrake - and he just released a brand new album Eye To The Ear on the 12th of April AND a new single just a few days ago... it's everything I could have expected and more, truly. His brother, Merlin (whimsical names is the theme) is a biologist and he wrote a book about fungi, which I really like, but haven't finished because I didn't have the time nor brain capacity to take in all that new information.
And continuing with the theme of slighly weird, I also enjoy video games/movies OSTs. The creepier the better. Little Nightmares (I&II) soundtrack? Perfection. I talk a lot of shit about HBO's Chernobyl but that show's OST is phenomenal (and that's the last nice thing I have to say about it đ). From not horror-esque soundtracks: stuff from DOOM.
I've also been mesmerised by the Polish folk music used throughout The Peasants and have been regularly listening to the whole soundtrack. I need to rewatch that movie ASAP... more on movie tracks, I also really like Mad Max: Fury Road's and Moon (2009)'s OSTs.
I also like older, classic bands... Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, Bronski Beat, Depeche Mode... Kult, if we're talking local... And because I AM beating the toxic masculinity allegations: MARINA, Paris Paloma, Caro Emerald and sometimes even Lana Del Rey and Mitski. Other than that, I'm rarely attached to one particular artist or band, I usually like two or three songs and hate the rest haha
I'm gonna add a bunch of songs I like under the cut as a little treat, just because:

so long, we become the flowers - Cowboy AU - Fic Beginning Meta
So, "we become the flowers", a.k.a. my cowboy au is finally out and being worked on! I'm super excited to be posting this. I'm delighted to have gotten it done already as I was hoping to have it posted before the 17th to celebrate the RDR re-port hahah. I got lucky!
Here is a link to the fic midpoint meta, posted along with chapter 5!
Here is a link to the post-fic meta, posted after the fic was completed!
-
General thoughts
This fic is meant to be a western style of story, and as such I wanted to follow one of the three western storylines (bounty hunting, revenge, and political stories). I chose revenge! Bounty hunting is technically in there too, but Iâd call this more of a revenge story than one about picking up a bounty.
I kind of blended this Western revenge genre with Austen-style romance because ooughh,,, the romantic and homoerotic tension in wanting someone SO BADLY but not being allowed to make a move for fear of scandal⊠itâs tasty stuff.
The au is meant to be set in a fantasy alternate - real-world in many ways, but flowers can bloom whenever I feel like it because I want cute flowers throughout the fic. I wanted an early-spring discussion in the beginning of this fic, but Fade gives her a peony, which bloom starting from late spring.
The town was named Vennecoate both as a reference to Venice and also to Bloodwritten Silver. I chose Venice as the inspiration behind Venshire in that fic and I liked the reasoning well enough to do the same here - that reasoning being Venice is both a huge part of Valorant lore and also where the training range is. I just like it! I chose this specific naming style after a real old western town, too - Kennecott in Alaska, which was a mining camp abandoned after natural resources dried up in 1938. Itâs a national historic landmark now and can be visited.
Fade and Neon are called Hazal and Tala in this au, but like I did with bloodwritten silver, Iâll be calling them and other named characters by their codenames just for my own sake in meta posts.
Neonâs dog is called Kidlat which means lightning⊠bc âlightning strikeâ⊠she has Lightning and Strike⊠Iâll go now
-
Moodboards
I made mood boards for Fade and Neonâs rough looks, as well as examples of their horses with their counterparts in RDR2. I also have Sims of them and their horses which Iâve shared before!
Iâve made more moodboards for this fic, but those are spoilers which Iâll only show in the fic ending metaâŠ
Someone on Discord actually drew these guys too, and they managed to NAIL the exact vibe I was going for without ever even seeing the moodboards. Huge shoutout to WissyDumb / wizzul on discord! Sharing these with their permission of course.
They donât have their piercings in the fic (piercings wouldnât become commonly used until around the 1950s) and Fade actually has some trauma related to infection and disease (weâll learn more about this later), so she wouldnât risk it even if they were commonly worn at this time.
-

A, F, H, J, L
I gotchu!
A: Of the fanfic youâve written, which is your favorite and why?
No contest - Meredith Poppins. It's a big source of comfort to me, and working on it again really does feel like coming home in a way I can't express! It's definitely the fic that makes me the most warm & fuzzy inside, and writing/editing it is genuinely fun in a way most other fics aren't.
Considering which fic I think is my best... I'd veer towards Crawling Back to You and if you talk enough sense then you'll lose your mind for the exploration of trauma, perhaps Porn and the Art of Shuriken Maintenance for character writing, and Meredith Poppins for worldbuilding, because exploring alien nonsense is a delight.
My favourite smutfics are Porn and the Art of Shuriken Maintenance and Size King because they make me snigger. Sex is inherently silly and kinda hilarious in my ace-leaning mind, and these fics capture that.
F: Is there a song or a playlist you associate with Lady of Shalott?
I have a big, biiiiig playlist! It's jampacked with bops like 'Heaven on their Minds' (JCS), 'Labour' (Paris Paloma), 'No Children', (the Mountain Goats), 'Brutus' and 'Rex' (The Buttress), 'I Can't Handle Change' (Roar), 'I'll Be Good' (James Young), 'Power Over Me' (Dermot Kennedy), 'Fuck Me' (Crawlers), 'You Me and Steve' (Garfunkel and Oates), 'The Winner Takes It All' (ABBA), 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' (AJJ), 'Bite The Hand' (boygenius), 'Rusted from the Rain' (Billy Talent), 'My Lighthouse' (Rend Collective), 'Saint Bernard' (Lincoln) and a whoooole lot of Mitski.
...Wait, that's just a Steddyhands playlist in general??? sldkgflsdfg
H: How would you describe your writing style?
Variable! I like to switch it up depending on the vibes of the fic.
J: Â Whatâs your favorite fanfic trope? Â Have you written it?
My favourite trope of all time (OF ALL TIME!!!) is found family, which accounts for 100% of my gotg fic, 100% of my Critical Role fic, 100% of my Naruto fic, and like a solid 75% of the rest of my ouevre. Maybe one day I'll write something that doesn't fit this trope, haha. I just love how strangers can slowly grow closer and eventually just. mutually adopt each other. grah. Gets me every time.
L: Â Which of your fanfics was the most emotionally challenging to write?
Hmmmm. White Noise for sure. That fic is trauma central (affectionate) and features a lot of dissociation/mindbreak stuff. I literally stopped writing fanfic for... months because I pushed a bit too far with that one. I still have the final chapter sat half-finished on my laptop, and I keep telling myself 'one day'...
In terms of a more... positive challenge, I really enjoyed writing Watch the Wall and Team Seven and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Roadtrip, which are from the perspectives of an eight-year-old and a twelve-year-old respectively. Writing from the PoV of a child is a really fascinating exercise, especially considering their individual level of comprehension regarding the fucked up worlds around them. I love that sort of dramatic irony, where the reader can pick up on all the hints that they're missing... Sakura and Peter are both very perceptive, but also lacking in experience and still breaking free of their baked-in convictions about The Way The World Is. I love exploring that whole arc!
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed writing this up!

black hermanâs last asrah levitation at magic city, Atlanta 2010
By LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs
This exclusive shit I donât share with the world.
50 Cent
I, Herman, made medicinal â concocted potions in ways my formerâs was hearsay;
Turned palomas christened Zora on to formulas husbands roll over n mitzvah.
I, a black lad, proud Virginian, selling out Liberty Hall n pinched w/ stickpins
in Woodlawn, do bequeath my next-to-last oratory:
My roots subverted the man,
honeys n dog voyagers to Neptune,
who dared interfere w/ your melodious saccharine midsection.
My cluster of tricks made chaps seek out connotation.
Look at my magic stick.
Not my clavicles, but my magic stick.
Ainât no lightness of hand but of bounce player.
Constraints imposed by a corvid named Jim
could not interpret my remedies.
Jim wasnât much of a MacGyver:
not one skill in therapeutic thaumaturgy.
He prescribed cowlicks for the heartsick: I mean, really.
But let me tell you something:
Since I am that laconic brother who knows
how to zone in matter untouched n unseen.
When a honey wails âSt. James Infirmaryâ
for my bones that were laid on the fiftieth funeral,
my suspended distortion shall know when to arise n eviscerate.
Now you see me. Now you donât.
Sign up for the joy cruise Shorty.
Mars is the Republic of New Afrika.
I am the Cyrano of Calvin Cadorzarâs drawl.
A straight-laced shoe herbalist;
colon cleaner than a chlorophyllian Dappa Don.
Wanna ride coach to Blue Flame w/ me?
In 1918, I told Quanah Parker, âJack, Jesus is Peyote!
Said so in the cards â say it ainât so?â
T-Bone hit it straight for 2.50 (even caught a little change on the box),
cause the planets were so aligned.
Shoânuf heard these arcane words precise.
I am the other.
Now ainât you a pretty saltshaker.
Sing Sing couldnât hold me down:
I compliment n shatter upstate.
The roots I baked allowed communion w/ God n the dead
In Kentucky I formulated polar bear toe gazpacho â
an elixir for ATLiens â no need to name drop;
just informing you of the origins.
Comes in Georgia Peach flavor.
Too much will turn your guts like

I patented âPoo Tangâ every morning for AC Powellâs breakfast:
18-ounce glass, œ Tang & œ Vodka.
Itâs good for clairvoyance.
That one on the house.
Dare to transpose any other energy drink, sookie?
This exhumation bears no map
fore the next internment there shall be no other.
I AM on some other shit.
How delightful you could clap to the procession.
I come with black cat bones, Van Van oil n goofer dust.
Lucky numbers. Banjo. Torches. Shells. Dice. Florida water. Do-re-me bush.

Always to arise on the fourth day: every seven years.
No. You see me.

La Paloma
A/N: A story in which Harryâs cocky talk is about the only thing he can lay on thick. Otherwise known as the realistic sex blurb! In the midst of a lot of smut on this website (myself included) I wanted to do something a little different than âsex god Harry Stylesâ and show a side of sex that is actually real and common and I think... funny! Thank you to my girls @oh-honey-stylesâ @andwhenshesaysâ @real-work-of-artâ @haute-romance-quotidienneâ for always encouraging the madness. Happy reading! xÂ
Word Count: 3.8k || Rated: M (mature), for implied smut, shit talking and a floppy disappointment!Â
âCanât wait to get you home,â he murmured in your ear, his warm breath sending a chill down your neck despite yourself. Â
You were surrounded by people, who if they overheard anything he had whispered in your ear, you would have been mortified. Warmth spread to your cheeks as you lifted your shoulder to urge his face away from yours, a smile tugging at the corner of your mouth as his toned, pink, silk covered front pressed closer to your side.
âGod, youâre so fuckinâ sexy.â His palm made its ridiculously slow course of direction from your opposite shoulder, all the way down your spine, until he could grip your hip tightly to keep you close. Â You could smell the tequila oozing from his pores, one (or three) too many La Palomaâs if had any sense of it. âHave I told you that tonight?â
âYou did tell me,â you confirmed quietly, turning your head to look at him. âA few times, actually.â Â
âTell ya again,â he urged quickly, his hand squeezing your hip once more. âYouâre the sexiest woman Iâve ever seen.â His voice was slow, the alcohol coating his throat into a subtle rasp. âNever wanted anyone more than you.â Â
He was persistent, if anything. And horny. He made that abundantly clear as his intricately patterned hips ticked forward, his groin pressed tightly against the top of your thigh. He crowded every inch of your space, a few random twists of his hair tickling your temple, the silk of his shirt tickling your skin entirely too softly, the subtle hardness of his undeniably impressive length ready and waiting for you. Â If you had let him, he would have snuck you into a closet, an earshot away from your distant relatives that attended your cousin's wedding alongside you. Â
Your blood boiled with it though; that need, the utter desire you felt deep in your belly. Â You almost gave in, almost let him lead you away, almost risked the embarrassment of being the subject of your family's gossip when someone undoubtedly caught you. You didnât, clearly, what with the way the last hour had been a torturous form of foreplay. Â
âH,â you warned, glancing behind him with a timid smile as one of your uncles approached the other end of the bar. Â
You were standing just off to the side, in a tiny little nook that had no business being large enough to fit both your bodies. You werenât even sure how you got there, your mind fuzzy from both your drinks and your boyfriend. Â But there you were, listening to the deep timbre of his voice recite, in detail, what he planned to do once he got you alone. Â
âWhat? I canât love on you?â he faked innocence. Â
You laughed softly. âYou can if you keep it PG.â Â
âGuess that depends,â he pondered with a slow drawl, âdoes making you come on my face fall under the PG category?â
A dramaticized roll of your eyes had him playfully giggling against your cheek. âDefinitely not,â you sighed with a smile. Â
âNo can do then.â Â
âHarry--â Â
âYâdrive me crazy, you know that?â
âFeelings mutual,â you chuckled dryly. Â
âThe worst part... is that I know exactly whatâs waiting for me.â His voice lowered, his lips just barely skimming over the corner of your jaw, warm breath caressing your skin once more. âI know youâre wet, and itâs fucking killing me.â Â
You were wet, uncomfortably so, and this man did nothing to quell it. If anything, he went out of his way to intensify it. You didnât miss the way his fingers toyed with his bottom lip periodically throughout the evening, or the way he walked dick first back to you from retrieving drinks in perfectly tailored pants, or that his hands always found purchase on you somewhere; your thigh during the ceremony, your shoulder throughout speeches, the small of your back as he slow danced with you. He kept you close at all times, the warmth of his palm searing into your skin at any given moment. Â
You downed the mouthful left in your glass as a distraction, his hooded eyes burning a hole in your face as he watched, his thumb toying with the material of your dress.
âI canât stop thinking about it, love,â he rasped. âSinking into you.â He somehow felt closer. âFeeling you clench down on me the way you do.â His hand squeezed your hip. âHearing you moan my name.â He swallowed harshly, Adamâs apple bobbing out of the corner of your eye. âWatching you comeâŠâ he exhaled. âItâs so fucking good.â
There was a moan sitting at the bottom of your throat, begging to escape with every passing word.
âYou always feel so good. I just want you on me, wanna be so deep I canât breathe. Itâs like⊠heaven.â
âTake me home,â you murmured breathlessly.
***
âI want you so bad.â Â The whine slipped up your throat, passing Harryâs lips where they were pressed to the delicate skin of your neck. Â
When you gave him the green light to leave the reception, youâd never seen him move faster - giving his well wishes and goodbye kisses to everyone that mattered at warped speed. His affection didnât let up in the car, a warm palm dipping entirely too far between your legs in the back of that town car for you to focus on anything but him.
You both had stumbled through the house as best you could, tugging each other's clothes off on the way, until you were in your bedroom, hands caressing the silk of his broad shoulders as he pulled you closer. His skin was warm against yours, tingles coursing through your veins at his touch. You could hear his panting breath just as much as you could feel it fanning out over your skin between the burning kisses his mouth left behind. Â
âThat was the longest wedding Iâve ever been to,â he murmured barely audibly as he followed your careless guide towards the bed. âFelt like I was going to explode.â Â Â
Your chuckle was soft as the backs of your legs met the edge of the bed, keeping a tight hold on him as you both fell onto the soft pillow top. He was heavily pressing you into the mattress, quickly slotting himself between your thighs. You pulled him in by the back of his neck, your mouth finding his with a deep kiss, the tiny bit of stubble on his face a stark contrast to the soft skin of his neck. Â
He pressed his hips into yours roughly, practically grinding against your core. Â The hardness you felt against your hip at the wedding had subsided, the car ride home seemingly giving him time to calm down. But now you wanted him. Â
âIâm so wet,â you whispered, eager to feel him after so much build up throughout the night. Â
He pulled back just so, a dimple barely forming into his cheek. âCan feel that,â he slurred, the words forming together in one drawn out breath. Â
You leaned up to press a kiss to the corner of his puffy mouth, your lips finding their way down his jaw and neck. His hand smoothed down your thigh, squeezing roughly as he pulsed his hips against yours once more. His lips barely made contact with your skin, light kisses being pressed to your chest and neck. He was right there, not even half hard against the apex of your thigh.Â
Harry enjoyed himself at the wedding - had his fair share of drinks. You both did, a delightful buzz coursing through your veins as well. You and your boyfriend were very similar that way, equally handsy and eager to be alone once you hit a certain point. Itâs more fun being tipsy and horny when youâre in love with each other. Â
âYou okay?â you asked softly at his ear, feeling his shaky breath against the side of your neck. Â
âMhm,â he hummed, pressing a sloppy kiss to your clammy skin.  âJust give me a minuteâŠâ his words trailed off as he pushed himself up on one hand while the other slipped around his cock, giving himself a few slow strokes. And it was a sight to see; watching him play with himself right between your thighs, his stomach clenching both from his position and his hand. Â
You couldnât help yourself from reaching down to brush your knuckles over his hand as a signal to let you wrap your fingers around his cock instead. He happily obliged, choosing to kiss along your cheek and neck once more. You found a slow rhythm with a subtle twist of your wrist just as your mouth sucked a soft kiss from the side of his neck, just below his ear. But something that would normally have him hard in a few strokes, wasnât doing the trick - three strokes coming and going, going, going, his cock steadily limp in your hand. Â
He was breathing heavily against your collar bone as you gave him a few more pumps. His Palomaâs definitely seemed to be inhibiting him now, his tip brushing against your center over and over without so much as a glimmering twitch. Â
A frustrated huff came from his pink lips. Â âI donât know whatâs going on.â Â
âBaby,â you eased as you pulled your hand away. âItâs probably the alcohol.â Â
He wordlessly pushed himself up onto his wobbly knees, gripping himself once more as he looked down, a deep furrow dented between his brows. Two more useless strokes and brushing his tip against your core once more had him accepting defeat, falling onto the bed beside you with a disappointed grunt. Â âCan still make you feel good,â he mumbled as he scooted the tiniest bit closer to your side. Â
He smoothed his hand down your stomach and between your legs, only to brush his fingers just to the left of your clit. You shifted your hips slightly to get him on the right track, trying to help him find his way to where you needed him. And he did, momentarily, until he was too distracted as he tried to kiss your neck, moving off your clit once more. Â
You sighed heavily as you turned your head to look at him, which only gave him false encouragement. Â
âSâgood, yeah?â he asked softly, his lashes blinking heavily back at you. Â
You hummed through an extremely soft chuckle as you slowly turned your body towards his, your hand reaching up to cup the side of his face as his hand fell from between your thighs. âSort of lost it, babe.â
âWhat? Nooo,â he whined. âWanna make you feel good.â The pout on his lips was so evident that it almost made you smile, strong arms wrapping around you to pull you close. Â His forehead knocked against yours, a soft chuckle coming from his lips as he pushed his weight into you more. âWanna make you come,â he murmured as he clumsily crawled over you, pressing wet kisses onto the skin of your chest. Â His tongue smoothed over your nipple, a zap of pleasure crawling down your spine at the sensation of his teeth scraping against your sensitive skin. Â
You weaved your hands into his hair as his lips smoothed down the center of your sternum, his face pressing softly into your stomach. You shifted beneath him as his arms wrapped around your waist, his mouth lazily pressing kisses to your stomach as his weight pressed you into the mattress further. Â
âH,â you murmured with a scratch to his head.
âHm?â
You lifted your head to look down at him as he nuzzled into your skin. âAre you falling asleep?â
âWha? NoâŠâ
âHarry,â you sighed. âCome here.â Â You pulled on his arms in an attempt to bring him further up the mattress. He groggily responded, pushing himself up your body until he was laying beside you, arms wrapping around you and legs tangling with yours. Â
âMâsorry, love. Canât keep my eyes open.â Â
âSh, itâs okay.â Â
He squeezed you tighter as he tucked his face into your neck, your chin resting on the top of his head. âPromise Iâll make it up to you tomorrow.â Â
Sleep overcame him immediately, a content sigh falling from his lips before soft snores were escaping his open mouth. It was as endearing as it was annoying. After all that build up, all his shit talking, it was almost comical now. Or at the very least, you had to laugh, because otherwise you would cry of sexual frustration.
So you laid there, willing your mind to settle enough to fall asleep - all while Harry blissfully snored, his body radiating even more heat against your already too warm skin.
***
Was there anything worse than being woken up by a charley horse in your calf? In the grand scheme of the world? Yes. But in that exact moment? When shooting pain stabbed through your leg like a worn down razor blade? Â No, there was nothing worse. Â A night of drinking everything but water would do that do you though. Â
You whined as you shot up from your pillow, whimpering as you attempted to massage the sore muscle, curling and uncurling your toes, breathing heavily as the cramp twisted tighter.
âGod damn it,â you cursed quietly as you rubbed your fingers into the tense muscle, releasing a slow breath when the pain finally started to subside. Â
And if that wasnât bad enough, your boyfriend snored peacefully beside you, completely unaware of your turmoil as he cuddled a spare pillow close to his chest.  Was it his fault that you had a charley horse? Obviously not⊠but somehow you felt like it should be. Especially when you looked over at him drooling on his pillow, back muscles fully on display, hair a mess, puffy mouth hanging open - beautifully infuriating, all at once.  Â
So before you took your pillow and smothered him with it, you got out of bed, slowly easing onto the traitor leg before nakedly trudging to the bathroom for a shower. Â He was in the exact same position when you returned with wet hair and fresh skin, and when you returned an hour and a half later with a neatly folded basket of laundry, he was still in the same position. Â You were half tempted to hover your face in front of his mouth, make sure he was still breathing, just when a hiccuped snore escaped him as he wrapped himself around the pillow more.
You padded over to his side of the bed quietly, taking in the long lashes spread across the tops of his cheeks and the hair that was matted between his temple and the pillow, before carefully reaching out to stroke the backs of your fingers across his clammy cheek. Â His skin was soft despite the impossible heat, pungently sweating out the last remnants of alcohol coursing through his system. Â
There was a part of you that wanted to wake him up, mostly because you missed him (you were supposed to spend the day together) and partly because you couldnât possibly forget what went on the night before. You would be lying if you said it didnât linger in the back of your mind all morning, the reminder making itself present as soon as the water touched your skin in the shower, a surprising similarity to his touch - burning hot and completely encompassing. Â
But you loved him, so with a huff and a roll of your eyes, you left him there to snooze away.
It was nearly dinner time before you heard the ensuite shower turn on from where you were perched in an oversized dark leather chair in the living room. Â You stayed put, wrapped in a blanket with your Kindle and a cup of tea when he finally appeared in a pair of athletic shorts and a Kendrick Lamar hoodie with the word DAMN. written across the chest, hair still damp and sticking up in every direction. Â Â
âGood afternoon,â you greeted, receiving a subtle look over his shoulder. Â
âWhatâs so good about it?â
Your eyebrows rose as you peered at the back of his head while he filled his water jug from the fridge. Â
âWow,â you chuckled softly, entertained by his pouty face. âI mean, youâve been relaxing in bed all day while I folded all your underwear. Sounds pretty good to me,â you shrugged. Â
âFeel like shit,â he shook his head as he made his way towards you, plopping down on the sofa with a loud sigh. Â
âWell, yeah, nine Palomaâs will do that to you.â Â
âDidnât have nine,â he grumbled before he chugged nearly his entire jug of water. Â
âI was being gracious, babe. Think you had more than nine,â you laughed. Â
He shot you a dirty look before his lips twitched with a small smile. Â âHow are you feeling?â
âIâm fine.â Â
âFine?â he scoffed, eyebrows high on his forehead. âWould have thought more than fine, love.â
âWhyâs that?â you laughed. Â
âYâknow,â he smirked, a smug look crossing his face as he playfully raised his eyebrows a few times.  Â
You furrowed your brows in confusion, watching as your boyfriend gave you a tenacious look of pride. Â
âUh,â you chuckled. âI donât know.â Â
âLast night?â He looked at you expectantly. âWhen we got home? Was good, yeah?â Â
You snorted a laugh, suddenly realizing that he wasnât joking judging by the cross look on his face, brows furrowed deeply. Â
âWhen you passed out on me?â Â
His confused blink had you laughing again, watching as he seemingly tried to piece together the pieces of your non-existent rendezvous. Â
âDidn't pass out on you,â he argued.
âYa did, baby.â Â
His bottom lip pouted out just barely as he contemplated your words, eyelashes blinking softly. âWell shit,â he huffed dramatically. âMusta dreamt it.â
You barked one loud, singular laugh. âGlad dream me got some at least.â Â
His laugh was infectious and heart felt, his eyes crinkling endearingly.
âIâm glad youâre enjoying yourself,â you roll your eyes, unable to keep the smile off your face.
âI would make it up to you now but Iâm afraid Iâll throw up in your mouth.â Â
âThatâs so hot,â you deadpanned. âDonât think Iâve ever been more attracted to you.â Â
He smiled timidly, a faint blush crawling across his cheeks ever so slightly. Before he could say anything else, you started to stand up from your blanket cocoon. âWell, not-laid me is going to make some dinner while you⊠I donât know, do whatever youâre gonna do with this,â you waved your hand in front of him, motioning to his hungover state. Â
He didnât follow you, even though you half expected him to, and when you returned only 25 minutes later, he was fast asleep on the couch with your abandoned blanket draped over him. Â
You released a sigh, accepting that the day was gone by that point, and went back to the kitchen to eat alone. Â You cleaned up once you were finished and quietly put the leftovers in the fridge while Harry slept on the sofa before you poured yourself a glass of wine and headed upstairs. Â
It wasn't until you were settled in the tub for a bit, topping off another dose of hot water as the bubbles slowly disintegrated around you that the door to the ensuite slowly started to open. Â He looked like a puppy that had gotten into a trash can, tail between his legs and a guilty look on his face. Â
âGood nap?â you asked as you sunk into the hot water again before tilting your head back to finish off your wine. Â
He didnât say anything from where he stood leaning against the door, watching you with his temple propped on the woods edge. Â You glanced over when a few silent beats passed, eyes meeting his gradually. Â You didnât say anything, didnât offer anything else up, but that seemed to jumpstart him enough to push himself off the door and actually enter the bathroom, heading straight for the vanity to wordlessly brush his teeth. Â Â
You focused on the hot water as it eased your sore muscles rather than the sound of Harry gargling a couple feet away. And once he was finished, he appeared beside you, crouched down next to the freestanding tub, elbows propped on the ledge for balance while his disheveled hair and the look on his face tugged on your heart strings. Â
âSorry Iâve been useless today,â he spoke softly, a subtle frown pulling at the corners of his mouth. Â
âItâs okay,â you eased. âYouâll have other days off.â Â
âI know, but still.â Â Full days off for him were few and far between as of late. âPromised you the day. And promised you other things too apparently... havenât held up my end at all.â Â
âH,â you sighed. âItâs fine, really.â Â
You knew your boyfriend, you knew that he was hard on himself sometimes. Pair that with his ego being a bit bruised and you had the perfect recipe for a pity party, which judging by his face, he already arrived at the party long ago. Â
âYou can make it up to me another day,â you added softly, lifting your hand from the water to smooth down the outside of his misshaped eyebrow. Â
He caught your hand before it dropped back into the water and pressed his mouth to the inside of your wrist. âI love you.â Â His words were spoken against your skin, his eyes closed as he pressed another kiss to the same spot. Â
âI love you too.â Â
He released your wrist in favor of cupping your cheek, the warmth from your bath evident beneath his thumb when he stroked it against the apple while the rest of his fingers softly rested against your neck. Â
His lips were warm and minty when they met yours, the softest slip of his tongue making your skin tingle with goosebumps. Â
âWellâŠâ his hand slowly trailed down your neck to cup your shoulder, your bicep, your elbow. âI can make some of it up to you now.â Â
His voice lowered minutely, taking on the tone that made the depths of your stomach twist delightfully. Â
âThought you felt like barfing?â you asked as you stretched your arms up over your head, your chest extending out of the water as beads of bubbles cascaded down your breasts. Â Â
âFeel better now.â His response was quick, immediate, eager. You didnât miss the way his eyes trailed down your body, his hand caressing the back of your arm softly. Â Â
You shrugged. âMaybe later.â Â
Your eyes didnât leave his when you extended your foot out of the tub to press on the bottom of the faucet's handle, effectively pushing it up and all the way over to the left to fill the tub with some burning hot water for the third time that evening. Â
âI charge interest, yanno.â An expectant raise of your brow accentuated your words.  Â
A subtle smirk tugged on his lips - he knew exactly what you meant; the eager glint in his eye, the soft flutter of his lashes. It looked eerily similar to his expressions throughout the wedding, as if he was imaging all the ways he could devour you if youâd just let him. All the ways he could pay you back, how many times he could make it up to you. Â
A bit of waiting never hurt anyone. If anything, it made it sweeter in the end. Â

Honestly my opinions on rewatch are about the same as my original thoughts. I like Carla just as much as before but Victor is a lot of fun too. The balance of like, comical, threatening, and realistic that Carla and Victor have is just. Delightful.
Iâve also gained a lot more respect for Doña Paloma.
Iâm still kind of eh on Naomi and Gabe tho.
Rewatching Elena of Avalor is so fun Iâm getting a newfound respect for Mateo. Heâs such a guy Iâd go to high school with. Iâd like sit a few rows behind Mateo in AP Chemistry and maybe road trip with him across town to chem events.
