Up early this morning to be ready for a visit from my palliative care consultant. My mum thinks it’s hilarious that I’m actually kinda pissed off that I’m not going to the hospice for my appointment 😂 I LIKE the hospice! And not just because of the free coffee ☕️😂! I like the staff, and chilling in the garden, and I like being somewhere everyone understands palliative care. Oh well, I’ll be back soon! Good morning ☀️! I am so tired today; I got about three hours of sleep. But I’m busy, busy, busy as usual! Today I have an appointment at @cityhospice with my palliative care consultant to check in and make sure everything health-wise is as stable as it can be before I go on my holidays on Saturday. And today’s team is assembled! All ready for a busy day; we’ve got an urgent catch up appointment at @cityhospice to discuss my current situation, then we’re going for a meal at Demiros down Cardiff Bay, then me, @collette.1967 and mum and dad are going to see Motown at The Millennium Centre! I’m super proud of my amazing boyfriend Blue; today will be his first time going to the hospice with me. The idea and prospect of a hospice and palliative care appointment can be super scary, so I’m so proud he’s coming along. Feeling very lucky to have such an amazing group of supportive people going with me to my appointment, and really glad we have a really lovely evening planned afterwards 😁💖 It sums up the dichotomy of our life, really; palliative care appointment at the hospice at 2.30pm, and a night on the town afterwards 😂! Rang my palliative care consultant at @cityhospice to tell her about my appointment yesterday. I’ve got an urgent appointment with my palliative care team at the hospice, with mum and dad, at 10am tomorrow to discuss everything. Don’t think sleep will come tonight. So it’s going to be a long, busy, and, I suspect, rather difficult day today. At 1pm I’ve got an appointment with palliative care to check up on how I am post renal sepsis, and to plan our next move regarding treatment of my kidneys and the chronic infections. Then at 3pm I have an emergency appointment with my psychologist Richard at Rookwood hospital. I have extremely mixed feelings about my psychology appointment; on the one hand, I am bitterly disappointed that the discharge I received last year has not been permanent, as I hoped. I feel weak for not being able to manage my mental health by myself. It feels like taking a step back after three years of fighting so hard to move forward. But I also know that the fact I actually asked for help is a good thing... good self management sometimes means admitting you can’t manage alone. And I know that whilst this first appointment is likely to be upsetting, it will help. It’s a step in the right direction; towards getting better. The Yucky Feeling In My Tummy is strong today, and my dudes, it fucking sucks. Hopefully this appointment will kick it’s ass! Anyway, I’m here, and I’m still smiling 😁!
