An Amstel at The Pancake Club in Amsterdam. A 1 of 4. Honestly, this is worse than a lot of other macros. Super high carbonation, prominent adjunct notes, and just...not that great. Most other pilsners and pale lagers would be better. Poffertjes were good, though!

Plzeň, in English known also as Pilsen, is a city in western Bohemia, in the southwestern part of Czechia. After Prague, Brno and Ostrava, it is the fourth largest city in the whole of Czechia. Many beer fans will associate the name Pilsen with pilsner beer. And rightly so, because this type of pale lager was invented there by Josef Groll in the mid-19th century.

Maui Brewing Company and Patagonia Provisions collaborate to release a unique beer made with a perennial grain. Introducing Kernza Pils.

Kihei, Hawaii (August 8, 2023) – Maui Brewing Company is introducing a Kernza® Pilsner in partnership with Patagonia Provisions, the food and beverage business of outdoor apparel company Patagonia. The Kernza Pils is brewed with Organic Vienna and Organic Pilsner malts with Organic Talus and Organic Wakatu hops and Regenerative Organic Certified® Kernza®. The light-bodied beer is moderately bitter with 40 IBUs and balanced with sweetness that finishes dry. It is clear with pale straw to gold appearance and offers an elegant, floral hop aroma. Its ABV is 4.6%.

Kernza®, a deeply-rooted regenerative perennial grain, has the potential to transform the brewing industry. Kernza® stabilizes soil, requires minimal tilling, increases soil organic matter, and improves soil structure and water-holding capacity. Patagonia is confident that ongoing research will also confirm that Kernza® draws down and stores more carbon in the soil than annual grains. When used in beer, it adds a deliciously rich but subtle nutty flavor. The Regenerative Organic Certified® Kernza® used in the Kernza Pils is sourced from A-Frame Farm, a 1,200-acre Regenerative Organic Certified® farm in Madison, Minnesota.

Participating breweries and Patagonia will each contribute 1% of Patagonia beer sales to a local non-profit that supports environmental initiatives and meets 1% for the Planet eligibility criteria.

It’s 4 AM, and usually, I’m pitch black drunk. Snoring heavily after vomiting heart-felt words. Medtech hasn’t been kind to us lately.

But today, I muster up a little bit more restraint than usual. If it was 2 years ago, I’d be knocked out — clumsily spilling a drink or two.

Unexpected visit.

Our uncle decided to show up out of nowhere at lunch time because he figured we would be preparing a feast for fiesta... but we are preparing our house for our stuff from America... he's family so we made sure we fed him but more importantly... he went home drunk 😆.

Vodka has never hit me hard like it hit me today. We hit finished off my bottle of 75 proof stolichnaya Orange flavored vodka. I tell ya... I'm a big guy, and I was a bit wooozy... he's a small old man with just years of experience in drinking... he got up to smoke a cigarette and had to lean against the house to smoke.. then when he was getting ready to head home, he could barely walk... so I'd say mission accomplished.. I barely had to give him drinks... regularly, he would drink almost an entire bottle of emprador himself along with four beers...it cost me half a bottle of vodka and San mig pale Pilsen.

For now I am waiting for my wife as she said we were invited over to our Canadian friends house for Fiesta. She's heading back from Balanga now. So I should probably get ready.
