i don’t think any Indian or Pakistani show has ever been able to achieve even half the aesthetic appeal and cinematographic brilliance as that of Barzakh- the storytelling, the metaphors, the visuals, all are just so brilliantly written and shot that every scene is a visual treat for the viewers.

the tonal whiplash is jarring from the way tumblr (and reddit refugees) talk about the submersible vs the way twitter, the news, and the government talks about it
like yeah we’re making fun of it but we still recognize it’s a horrible way to go out…they still (mostly) brought this on themselves tho
on the other hand, everyone else is like “it’s a tragedy, we need to divert all our resources and attention to this specific situation, if you don’t feel extreme sympathy and kinship for these people then you’re a terrible person”
the best example I can think of that shows what I’m talking about is how we all think it’s incredibly funny that the stepson of one of the billionaires on board went to a Blink-182 concert during search efforts while most people on twitter were clutching their pearls like “oh, he doesn’t care, how horrible that’s he’s continuing to live his life and not pray these poor, rich souls”
and ik if someone said this on somewhere like twitter people would accuse them of putting one cause above others but seriously, what about literally anything else happening, like the thousands of migrants lost at sea that are being overlooked because of these billionaires who absolutely knew the risks when they agreed (also, the only cause in this situation was a lost cause from the start, that is, if we’re gonna call anything to do with billionaire lifestyles a “cause”)
anyways,
sink the rich
yes, human empathy and all that but billionaires aren’t people and you’re not a horrible person for laughing at or making fun of this situation where the odds, nature, and literally everything else that could be were absurdly stacked against these five from the beginning
#you’re not awful for laughing#we need to show the news and government that we care more about anything other than billionaires#billionaires should not exist#billionaires aren’t people#begging the rest of the world to stop overlooking the Pakistani migrants that were lost#they should give the billionaires money to the families of the Pakistani migrants#would love to hear your thoughts#idk just thoughts#i hope i make sense#i hope i worded this right#if I didn’t explain well enough lmk and I’ll try again#the concert thing is SO funny tho#Pakistani migrants#lost submersible#missing submersible#titan submersible#oceangate submersible#the Titan#titanic#oceangate#oceangategate#twitter#reddit#reddit refugees welcome#Reddit refugees#196#196 campfire#tumblr#news

okay but like... hear me out -
They both have the last name Khan.
Kamala is of Pakistani descent.
Yaz's Grandmum was there when Pakistan was created.
Mayhaps they could be distant relatives?
(obvi ppl can have the same last name and not be related, esp because pretty much Yaz's whole family moved to America, and there weren't that many of them. I just think this could be a really cool crossover idea!!!)
#doctor who#ms marvel#crossover#mcu#marvel#yasmin khan#yazmin khan#kamala khan#I hope someone Pakistani/Muslim does this idea justice#rep is so important#and with Yaz being off the show now and Kamala being an underrated character#they deserve more idk#random silly idea#doctor who crossover#marvel crossover#original post#muslim#representation#thirteen meeting captain marvel would be hilarious i think#whovengers

The Controversy Surrounding "Barzakh": A Call for Boycott Among Muslims
The Pakistani drama "Barzakh" has sparked significant controversy and led to calls for a boycott from various segments of the Muslim community. The drama, which explores themes related to the afterlife and spiritual redemption, has been criticized for its portrayal of religious concepts.
Here’s a look at the reasons behind the boycott and the responses it has elicited.
Reasons for the Boycott
Misrepresentation of Religious Concepts
Many Muslims feel that "Barzakh" misrepresents the Islamic concept of the afterlife. The portrayal of Barzakh, the intermediate state between death and the Day of Judgment, has been deemed inaccurate and disrespectful by some religious scholars and viewers. They argue that the drama oversimplifies and sensationalizes complex theological ideas, leading to potential misunderstandings among the audience.
Inappropriate Content
Critics have pointed out that certain scenes and dialogues in the drama are inappropriate and do not align with Islamic values. This includes the depiction of relationships and interactions that some believe do not respect the sanctity of the religious themes being addressed.
Commercialization of Sacred Beliefs
The use of religious concepts for entertainment purposes has been seen as a commercialization of sacred beliefs. Many feel that turning profound religious teachings into a drama trivializes and diminishes their importance, leading to a call for respecting religious sentiments by not supporting such content.
As a Muslim, it can be challenging to see content that goes against our values and beliefs, especially when it comes from within the Muslim community. It's natural to feel hurt, disappointed, or concerned when we see representations that contradict our understanding of Islam.
But It's essential to remember that everyone has their own journey and interpretation of their faith. Some creators might be trying to spark conversations, challenge societal norms, or explore complex issues, even if it means differing from traditional or conservative views.
If you're comfortable, you could consider:
1. Avoiding content that makes you uncomfortable.
2. Engaging in respectful discussions with others about your concerns.
3. Supporting and promoting content that aligns with your values.
4. Focusing on positive representations of Islam and Muslims in media.
Remember, your feelings and values matter. Take care of yourself and engage in ways that uplift and inspire you.

Well well well… I actually ended up loving today’s Tere Bin episode after some time. And surprisingly NOT because of any MM scene. There weren’t any other than flashbacks but oh how it pulled at my heartstrings 🥺
- Yumna Zaidi: say what you will about meerab and her warped logic, but man does Yumna’s acting save meerab every time. You think you won’t forgive meerab this time, but then Yumna acts and the rest is history. She owns the screen
- the gold chain scene !!! The way she gives that away instead of money and then remembers how he once helped her wear it. That moment. MY HEART. THEM. I CANT DEALLLLL. Everything reminded her of him. Everything !!!
- WAHAJ: first of all that black kurta is just sinfully hot on him. How dare he. Angst shouldn’t look this tempting. I love love love that entire scene. This is where you have to give tere bin credit. It really knows how to use its side characters well to serve the story. The Murtasim Bakhtu scene is a GEM. The dialogue. “Aap ne kabhi Khud ko loota hai?” Wow. He’s in pain because it was their first time and it happened while their trust was broken, they fought, and it was a total mess. Because in his heart, what could have been? If they had been in a better place and it had been a tender moment instead of rage and chaos driven. He waited forever for her and when they finally came together it happened under terrible circumstances. And bakhtu… such a precious loyal angel. Officially murtasim’s confidante. “Apna dil qaabu main rakhain. Bohat raaz hain dafan es main” “Aap pe 100 jaan qurbaan” won my heart
- “Main marr gya hoon keh khan ko aise bulla rahe ho?” 😂😂😂 It was a bakhtu win day today
- the way murtasim enters the house … just completely broken. Shawl barely hanging on. Totally defeated. Wahaj nailed that moment
- Nauraiz becoming Murtasim 2.0. The way he stood up for maryam and silenced Maa Begum and Murtasim. 👏 👏 👏 I knew maryam did the right thing confiding in this guy. At least one couple is off to a great start in marriage.
- my only qualm in this episode is why why WHY murtasim FAILS TO ADDRESS HAYA. Dude, she was the reason you and meerab fought, she literally tricked and hugged you less than 12 hours ago, you told her you’ll see to her if she doesn’t confess and yet… you continue to do NOTHING about this huge problem. No wonder meerab has had enough. The way murtasim deals with haya after he finds out something she did is completely unacceptable. He’s so lenient ! What is this behavior. I hate this aspect of him. Deal with this woman already. Send her to the village. Set her up with someone. ANYTHING
Even Nauraiz didn’t tell everyone out loud it was haya who lied to him. Another act of hers that went unpunished. It would be so unsatisfying if she is dealt with in the very last episode. Because she’s annoyed the audience for almost 50 episodes now. She needs to get her due and soon
Anyway looking forward to the next episode: murtasim is gonna lose it when he finds out meerab is gone. Furious, on edge murtasim is always a treat to watch. Guess what he’s gonna say a lot: MERI BIWI 😂😂 I love him your honor
#tere bin#murtasim khan#wahaj ali#yumna zaidi#pakistani drama#the show is far from flawless but at least it entertains#that’s what I love about it… it gave us a lame episode but then this one was a good one#sometimes the randomest scenes end up being so heartfelt and nice#it definitely surprises you

Ms. Marvel-ous!
Ms. Marvel (2022), created by Bisha K. Ali I’m not sure how this review is gonna go but go it must – this is it: my favorite! What happens on the show? Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) is an Avengers superfan. As such, the first-ever Avenger-con is a must! Unfortunately, Kamala is only 16 and her parents don’t support her skipping over to New York City to go to a ‘party.’ She sneaks out, has the…
