Football matches are tense affairs in Brazil. That is doubly true when they take place in prisons. In August 1993 a game in a São Paulo jail ended in horrific fashion. Eight inmates attacked their opponents, killing at least two. Covered in blood, they proclaimed the birth of a new gang: the First Capital Command (PCC). Thirty years later the PCC is Latin America’s biggest gang, with estimates suggesting it has 40,000 lifetime members and another 60,000 “contractors”. That would make it one of the world’s largest crime groups. And on November 6th a leaked report by Portugal’s security services claimed the group has 1,000 associates in Lisbon, the capital. The PCC is going global.

The gang’s network of allies began in South America. A decade ago the PCC formed an association with some of the world’s biggest cocaine-traffickers. Based in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz, this “super gang” is dedicated to joint ventures in drugs and money-laundering. Local media thought it sounded like Mercosur, the regional trading bloc. They named it “Narcosur”. The PCC has separate relationships with Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua, a human-trafficking group, too.

But in recent years, the PCC has concentrated on building ties with Europe. In 2021 a record 303 tonnes of blow were seized in the European Union (see chart). The farther it is shipped, the bigger the margins. Previously the PCC bought coke wholesale in Bolivia for $1,500 per kilogram, got it onto a ship in a Brazilian port, and sold it on for $8,000 per kilogram. By setting up a base in Europe, members can sell that kilogram for over $30,000.

Members of the PCC are thought to be present in half a dozen European countries, including Britain. The gang runs over 50% of Brazil’s drug exports to the continent, says Lincoln Gakiya, an organised-crime prosecutor from São Paulo. It mostly works with Italy’s ‘Ndrangheta, Europe’s biggest mafia. The two syndicates have partnered for years. ‘Ndrangheta brokers are regularly arrested in Brazil, where they make hefty deals. In May an investigation by Europol, the EU’s police agency, revealed that the ‘Ndrangheta was shipping the PCC guns from Pakistan. It collaborates with Albanian and Serbian drug gangs, too.

These feats of engineering are pretty incredible, considering the rest of the world was meant to be wandering around in sheepskin clothing. On top of this, they were able to line it up precisely with magnetic North and got the whole thing done in twenty years using only chisels, rocks, and hemp as implements and building materials. There are nine other historical sites that use the same building technique of using irregularly shaped stones to achieve strong structures. -       Easter Island contains monuments, and it is also one of the most isolated places on the earth. The builders are supposed to have crossed 2500 miles of ocean in tiny canoes. They can date the age of the rock but not when it was carved. The giant moai is unfinished and weighs 250 tons. There are sixty-ton carved statues that are 9 miles away from the quarry, No one can explain how this could be achieved.  No one has been able to duplicate rolling such giant objects using tree trunks. The most ancient wall on Easter island uses the same heterogeneous building techniques. All the statues on Easter Island face inwards except seven which stare out at the sea facing due west. The seven pairs of eyes stare at the horizon at the sunset during the equinox. The equinox is important; it occurs twice a year when the Sun is directly above the equator. -       The writings on these statues, in Easter Island, that are facing west are very similar to the writings on the monuments at Mohenjo Daro. Mohenjo Daro in Pakistan also uses the same heterogeneous building techniques. -       There are many carved sites in Peru whose drawings are only visible from the sky. Some are many miles long and some clearly point to the North Pole. At Aukaupata in Cuozo Peru, a wall exists that uses the same building technique referred to. -       Another site where these heterogeneous ways of building is at the Saqsayhuaman site. -       At the Q’enqo site in Peru also, the difficulty in arranging the blocks at all sites using this method should not be underestimated. -       The other sites that share these traits are the Paracas Chandelier, Nazcam, Cusco and Machu Picchu in Peru. These sites were all built to withstand earthquakes.  Not only that but the three sites in Peru, Aukaupata, Q’Enqo, and Saqsayhuaman when measured from the apex of their structures and drawn as a triangle they are found to make the shape of a perfect triangle. The sites are all 1.25 km apart. When a straight line is plotted from Giza to Easter Island it travels through all the historical sights mentioned above at a precise angle of 30 degrees from the equator.
