i'm just going to focus on the good parts of this episode. i don't think it was in character of yu-yeon to leave heejoo without any explanation or prior notice; knowing full well the hell she's been through. i also don't think inventing a fake country rife with rebels and racist undertones was in good taste; but that said — i do like the idea of yu-yeon seeking redemption.

we tend to think of redemption as something holy — something lofty and impossible; the spires of some distant and unreachable dream of absolution just barely in our sightline — but i think it's beautiful that no matter how long yu-yeon has been punishing himself; it's only when heejoo takes him into her arms and kisses him that he finds himself free from darkness. maybe redemption isn't grand — maybe it's just someone who loves you looking you in the eye and telling you that they're always going to find you, no matter where you go. maybe redemption is just two arms wrapping around you, embracing you home.

i also love the soft use of buttery light during their bed scene: it's intimate; but also sacred — the sincere language of skin-on-skin; the sweetness of that gap between two people that can only be bridged by one body against another.

in the novel; yu-yeon asks heejoo to give him a name; and i'm sad that they didn't show that in the drama — but i love the meaning of "paik yu-yeon." names are special — they're the cornerstones of one's identity. in its most ancient meaning; names are a kind of summoning — a call to creation. "paik yu-yeon" — being reborn in the name of love: being formed anew in tenderness — it's a powerful ending. one that they both deserve.

ultimately, i'm glad to see that heejoo and yu-yeon received what they have always longed for — an everyday existence; friends laughing around a dinner table; someone to call after work. an ordinary life — and an extraordinary joy at being together.

When The Phone Rings

I know some people are questioning the writing in the final episode but personally, I think it was right in line with their characterization. Also given that the source material is the web novel, I don't know just how much they're allowed to depart from the original storyline (if there are any such limits like that). Like ofc Heejoo walked into a random ass war zone without any protection - she has the self-preservation instinct of a peanut. I think 12 episodes in, we can simply stop questioning the logic of it all and just enjoy the ride (which they truly did deliver).

My only gripe is that the scene with the psycho saeon mother crying went on for like a minute too long - I do not need to see her crying for that long, it invokes nothing in me.

I was truly entertained from the get-go and the series demanded just enough suspension of disbelief to keep it going and compensated for it by giving me dramatic whiplash (looking at you episodes 8, 9, 10 and 11). Lovedddddd. This is exactly what I want from my shows.

Ep12 (finale) when the phone rings short review( second though after few hours of processing)

Ok so the ending kinda overwhelming for me especially on the focused genre of thriller.

The argan matter is totally..totally unexpected ..I thought ok ..she really going there and got kidnapped again ..miracously again our yoo Yeon is there to rescue her. ( Feel like a vagabond type of drama) All of sudden🤣

I totally not understand on sa eon/yoo Yeon disappearing and I totally agree with hee joo

And it's really turns out about the hee joo brother accident and he was self guilt for the wrongdoing of his father ..the argan matter would have not happened if he just being honest with hee joo and not leaving.

Although he redeemed himself with this

But again..this is past matter..I need to let go like hee joo said.

What matter is they are happy married and child making 😍

Also I wish for more than walking and talking in forest..I don't know maybe more marriage life or baby making moment😅

So back to question am I happy with the ending?

I do coz everything checks off from my list of happy ending finale.

And again what matters is they are happy together finally with no kidnapping and missing from each other

I still feel blank though and still processing coz it's feel like a dream due to many imaginations in the past episode🤣

I hope they could meet again in more normal romance drama as the chemistry is so strong💜

Ep12(finale) when the phone rings short review ( final final though)

I never do third though before, usually I have all figure out in second though..but I did not figure out why I was so blank after the ending

But now I know why..it's because the story has finished

The story of paik sa eon/paik yu Yeon and Hong hee joo has ended beautifully with them finally communicating each other truthfully.

The argan matter was necessary for parallel reason and human touch.

Parallel reason is eventually they will find each other no matter what happened to them.it show many times throughout the show ..he will find her and she will find him..it's just need effort..and both of them show effort.

Human touch as he is not perfect after all, there's stuff he don't know and knowing the info making it hard for him to process eventually making the decision to leave hee joo as a form of punishment to atone the past mistake of his father . He was distancing himself but still hopeful.

At first I disagree on why he have to leave instead he could talk it out with hee joo but he never done so before ( so I come to understand sa eon on that part)

Hee joo character change from a passive to active as she been changing throughout the show starting when sa eon did not come home due to the fire.But again human touch coz she was not that strong.

Back to parallel but now she knows the ways to find him even going as far to argan..risking her life knowing she will eventually found him.

Good job to hee joo for taking the lead to stop the waiting games as a comfort for her and sa eon of taking the burden on other people past mistake.

It also show when hee joo said to her sister to let go of the past and be happy in the present.

This drama simply a great drama till the end even it's a bit fast paced in the finale.so take time for me to process everything out..😅

I will post on ep11 (remaining) and ep12 photos afterward for the perfect closure of this beautiful drama.

It's not over till it's over completely..😅
