This took forever to go through. There were soo many good illustrations that it took me longer to decide. I hate the photo limit. I really, really want to show more.. (╯︵╰,)

To start off on this lovely book, we see the 3rd Anniversary Countdown illustrations. It's 4 pages long and the colors are amazing! I just wish these illustrations have their own page so you can see them properly to appreciate them..

After that, we see the Devilgram illustrations which is 7 pages long and I'm not happy with the colors. They're pretty dull and filtered. It's a bummer to see the pictures like this because all these little scenes are fun to look at as you see.

Then we're off to the card illustrations! This is where Mephistopheles, Thirteen, and Raphael start to show up more which are gorgeous! Especially when Raphael pops in! (´∀｀)♡ I was really excited to see them so I did my best to add them on this post.

Towards the end, we see the event logo's which is 10 pages long. This is where you get to see the title illustrations of the events that happened in the past. It's neat to look at because many games don't share this so this is quite a treat. However, upon close inspection, I noticed a few logo's are a bit blurry? Yeah, I know. I shouldn't nitpick but these books are expensive so I have high expectations. As an art book collector, I find it important that everything is top notch. If there are too many problems, I return the book without second thought because I refuse to have an art book that isn't well taken care of. If the colors and setup is bad, it has to go. It's difficult to enjoy the art when the book is a complete mess.

The book quality is superb (minus the Devilgram illustrations) and the cost for this one is $59.13 from nin-nin-game.

Unfortunately, our steamy showers illustrations were not in this book which is a huge disappointment but I'm hopeful they will create another book or two where we will also get Mephistopheles, Thirteen, and Raphael character profiles since they didn't appear on this book which I find odd because you figure they will show them but it seems the company has other plans.

After their announcement on discontinuing nightbringer, I can't help but really, really hope they will release more books in the future. These books are worth it. They're beautiful to look at and it's something to treasure forever because from experience; I know there will be a time the company will decide to shut down the game due to cost so if your like me who cares a lot about the art.

Get the art books while you can. Especially right now when the price is right. They will eventually stop making these and it will be difficult to get them.

The squelching of muscle and bone never bothered Suguru. Not the cutting of tendons or viscera along his serrated gold plated blade, or the pathetic cries once someone realised not to cross him and begged for their life to swear loyalty to the Geto family.

Why the hell would Suguru trust anyone who tired to steal from him, cause a disturbance in one of his clubs and they bare face lie to him after?

No. He could already hear you in his ear, telling him straight what he already knew. Never let someone take you for a fool twice.

"It's perfectly fine Miguel, she'll understand if I'm a little late."

You would. He realised pretty early on in the marriage that you pretty much had no issue with whatever he did, as long as he had a reason to follow it through.

By now, Suguru was wrist deep inside the mans torso, rummaging around in the chest cavity for one reason in particular. "Which one do you think this little group of Yakuza will appreciate more, Miguel?"

"Anything that's disrespectful."

"That's true," Suguru pulled out a clump of everything from the hole he had cut. "While the lungs are prominent, they're a little bulky... maybe the heart, but it's a little too predictable."

The man on the table once belonged to a small up and coming group of Yakuza men, they had come from a rural area to Shinjuku looking for real estate. Satoru had already dealt with the majority of them, Suguru was taking care of the stranglers to add insult to injury.

Miguel approached the table with a casual stance and leant against the wall. “His head would be good but then the shipping cost would be a pain,"

"Maybe I could cut off his cock and send that instead, it's disrespectful enough, right?" Suguru shook off his hands and glared down at the body on the table. "No. That's too good for him."

He glanced at the clock on the wall and tutted. "You took up way too much of my time, didn't you?"

The body never replied which was disrespectful enough. "Miguel, take this piece of shit and dump him somewhere they'll find him. Sending a body part somehow seems too formal for scum."

"Yes sir."

This whole operation wasn't for nothing, but when you realised that Suguru pretty much cut up a man for no reason, well, he'd have to make it up to you.

He was already late for dinner when his pager went. Cleaning himself off, Suguru checked it. "Shit..."

316... There was only one reason someone would page him that code.

"Sir?"

"Change of plans. Call my wife immediately and tell her we'll need to do dinner tomorrow. Sukuna needs me for a meeting, it's urgent. I'll make it up to her."

"She isn't going to be happy, is she?"

"No, but if you play your cards right, maybe she'll set some food aside for you, it's better someone eats, instead of it going to waste. Take her some flowers in the meantime once you've finished with our friend here."

Suguru watched Miguel grin and start moving the body, you would have gone to much trouble making dinner tonight and it was only right you still ate with someone, even if it wasn't Suguru.

He wiped off his hands, cursing to himself for the inopportune moment to pull an emergency meeting when Suguru had just been to clan headquarters earlier that day.

But, still was life and being a lieutenant called for this attention.

Eli got his ballot the other day.

I'm still trying to understand it.

I.

The ballot card itself consists of four pages, each 8.5 by 19 inches, each double-sided. It carries the mark of the Secretary of State, tint and watermark. Cal. Elec. Code § 13002.

The United States guarantees to every one of its States a republican form of government. That means that here the people rule, more or less directly. California leans to the "more" side.

There are fourteen offices on the ballot, for the United States, the State of California, the City and County of San Francisco, for the school and college board, and the transit district.

Then there are twenty-five ballot propositions, ten for the State, fourteen for the City and County, one for the school board, and none, I suppose, for the transit district.

The ballot card arrived with something that calls itself a Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot. The Pamphlet is actually a volume of 294 pages, printed and bound on stock that gives it the texture and dimensions of a slim phone book.

San Francisco is a small town that likes to think it's a big one.

It certainly gave itself a big book.

II.

Looking over the materials, I was troubled by how little I knew and understood about what Eli was asked to do.

To take on part of the government of the State, as the ballot asks you to, is a heavy thing. It takes intelligence and judgment to discriminate between the better and the worse.

It takes some amount of understanding. It takes more when you're asked not only about one candidate, but many, and not only about candidates, but about the laws themselves.

It takes knowledge of the offices and their powers. In a constitutional government, officers have the powers the laws give them, and assemblies the powers the constitution gives them.

And I don't know the constitution or the laws.

III.

The Constitution of the United States is a compact little instrument. It amounts to about 7,500 words across seven articles and twenty-seven amendments.

The compactness is by design. It is short because short instruments, and possibly only them, M‘Culloch v. Maryland, 17 U.S. (4 Wheat.) 316, 407 (1819), may be read and understood.

California's constitution is a beast of a different order.

California doesn't make it easy to read its constitution. But the State Legislature does periodically put out a volume with the federal and state constitutions, along with other instruments.

In its most recent edition, updated to November 8, 2022, the book is 467 pages. The federal constitution, with amendments, takes up 22 of those pages. The state constitution takes up 210.

I still haven't more than skimmed it.

IV.

I'm trying to read up on the constitution and the laws of California. The State doesn't make it easy.

California is sparing in its reproductions of its laws. California permits you to read individual articles whole, but not parts or titles, at least not titles with more than one chapter.

To read the whole of the California Penal Code, for example, as presented by the State, you would need to open something a little short of 680 separate addresses. The four parts and 34,400 sections of California's penal code demand nothing less.

In Canada, where criminal law and procedure are exclusively federal matters by virtue of Constitution Act, 1867, 30 Vict. c. 3, § 91(27), the Crown provides the entirety of the federal Criminal Code, RSC 1985 c C-46, at a single address or a single document.

In California, your 680 separate addresses are not law. They are not even evidence of the law. If you take your copy of the California Penal Code, as presented, before a state magistrate, they may decline to take it.

Because California does not guarantee that what it presents is the law. It does not authenticate those 680 separate addresses, at least. California does not authenticate codes, titles, or chapters it presents to you. It does authenticate, but only something much smaller. Sections.

California will authenticate an individual section of its written law for you. It will give you a PDF with a digital signature. A single, letter page. A single section and a vast, blank space. And a digital signature, courtesy of Adobe.

That's what California gives you. But to get the whole thing? To get the whole 34,400 sections of the California Penal Code, the 9,500 sections of the Civil Code, or the 61,000 sections of the Revenue and Taxation Code? Well.

You'll have to put those together yourself.

“Prongs heard Evans say that she’d love anyone who could get her Maltesers,” Peter explains with a wave of his hand, interrupting Sirius.

Sirius nods without comment and drapes himself on the sofa beside the other boy, picking up a book from the side table. James remains stretched out in the armchair closest to the common room’s entrance, trying desperately to portray himself as uninvested though his eyes flick to the portrait hole every few seconds. On the table situated between the armchairs and sofas—somehow—are dozens of packets of Maltesers.

Silence stretches between them until Sirius closes his book and looks over at James.

“But how?”

“Gave Moony some money and he wrote home to his mum,” James answers quickly, eyes not leaving the portrait hole.

“Oh, so Moony is the one who actually provided—”

“If you ruin this for me, Padfoot, I swear to—”

James stops mid-sentence as the sound of the portrait hole closing reaches his ears. Not long after, Lily wanders into his line of vision with Remus close behind, having concluded their prefect duties. He can’t hear from where he sits, but the two of them seem to be chatting and laughing about something or other. He clears his throat innocuously and Remus’ eyes dart his way.

“Oh wow, look at that,” Remus points to the table once Lily finishes her sentence. James hears a surprised sound—not really a gasp or a squeak, but something in between—as the two of them walk towards the common space.

He watches Lily as her eyes roam over the mountain of Maltesers and over to him, the smallest hint of a smug smile on her lips as her eyes glitter with understanding.

“Maltesers, hm?”

He shrugs and looks back to the newest issue of Quidditch Quarterly that he’s been absently flipping through, satisfaction evident on his face as he turns a page.
