I spent half a month working on a cruise ship, travelling around Norway and the Scottish islands. Part 1 of my Hyperborean Odyssey is in Western Norway, beginning with the ancient burial grounds of Gunnarshaug and Rehaugane near Norway's Viking capital Avaldsnes, then admiring the fjords around Ulvik and Olden and finishing off in the rainy city of Alesund. This is a historical travel series.

In Celtic folklore, the Irish Leannán Sí "Barrow-Lover" is a beautiful woman of the Aos Sí (fairy folk) who takes a human lover. Lovers of the Leannán Sídhe are said to live brief, though highly inspired, lives. She is generally depicted as a beautiful Muse, who offers inspiration to an artist in exchange for their love and devotion; however, this frequently results in madness for the artist, as well as premature death.

recommendations for “local” spots in PR? im going over springbreak and im so excited!!! (anything fun do/ explore besides el yunque and san juan?)
omg i love this questionnnn!!!!
so if you get the chance: RENT. A. CAR. There are so many amazing spots in PR but because the public transportation system here might as well be nonexistent, you need a car to get to most of them. so here is the list of my personal fave spots that you need a car for: (dw i will include another list of things that are more local to san juan and also one more thing)
- Playa Sucia, Cabo Rojo: gorgeous beach, i spent a lot of time there in college. you have to walk a bit to get to the actual beach but it’s so worth it. you can also hike up the cliffs surrounding the beach which is so fun and beautiful. and you can go up to the lighthouse which has the most amazing view.
- Crash Boat beach, Aguadilla: another beach, another college me spot. it’s just really cool, people are always playing music, there’s a big ol pier. just very awesome.
- Toro Verde Adventure Park: ZIPLINE. VERY BIG ZIPLINE THAT TAKES YOU 95 MPH. I believe it’s the longest in the US and the third longest in the entire world. the view while you’re on it is unlike anything i have ever seen before 10/10, taking my bf there this weekend.
- Surfing: my fave surf spots are Domes Beach in Rincon. Jobos Beach in Isabela. and La Punta in San Juan. You can search up surf lessons in these beaches and you’ll get a bunch of instructors.
-La Parguera: Bioluminescent bay. It’s so gorgeous and so worth it
- Piñones: Long strip of road with different spots you can get out in and go to the beach in. It’s littered with a bunch of typical puertorican food stands like fried shit that we love. if you want the real PR experience, go on a weekend
Now for some more local San Juan area things to do:
- Again, Surfing: literally just google surf lessons in san juan and a bunch will pop up
- Distrito T-Mobile: Has a bunch of restaurants and live music, definitely a good spot to just kinda hang out in. There’s a huge arcade there as well as one of my fav restaurants: La Central by Mario Pagan (get the truffle butter on the steak)
-La Placita: Drinks. Legal age is 18 here so if you want to PARTY, go here.
-Calle Loiza: same as la placita but more locals go here methinks
-The Place: my fav burger place ever, it’s in Condado. Build your own burger w really good ingredients 10/10
-Pirilo: amazing pizza place. it’s in old san juan so this might be a bit of a cop out but it’s really good regardless.
-Casa Bacardi: Rum factory, you can take a tour and it’s pretty cool
-Paddle Boarding: you can go paddle boarding in Condado Lagoon, if you’re lucky you might even get to see manatees or turtles!!!
- Metropol: my favorite restaurant. they have a bunch of locations but you can’t go wrong with any of them. typical puertorican and cuban food. fucking delicious i can never get enough. (get the sorullitos you won’t regret it.)
Now for the something extra:
-Culebra and Vieques: You can either take a plane or a ferry to either of these islands. They are the most beautiful islands i have ever seen. Very remote so little to no cell service but genuinely so so so worth it because the stars look so amazing at night it’s like nothing i have ever seen before. also Vieques has a bioluminescent beach as well :)
ik some of these are kind of touristy things and not necessarily local but they are genuinely some of my favorite things to do and i will always always always recommend to do at least one of them.
If you google Discover Puerto Rico, that website is amazing and gives you like a million things to do 10/10
here’s a link to my fav youtuber’s vlog where she went to PR and imo she did an amazing job of immersing herself in the culture i adore her: https://youtu.be/KPzqRP0T3ew?si=_sFNg_5kg6N5SGQg

Youtuber AUs? Is that a thing?
Beckett: Has a channel all about history, mythology, anthropology, and the interactions within. Generally pretty well-researched and presented, aside from his habit of getting into arguments (or flirting) with commenters... and sometimes Smash Or Pass videos for historical figures with a particularly high percentage of ‘smash’.
Sascha: Exclusively posts ASMR ‘POV: I perform amateur surgery on you while chatting amicably about history’-type videos. Sometimes it’s presented as a ‘doing your makeup’ video until they whip out the scalpels and the ice picks and the like. Trolls Beckett’s videos a lot but never replies to comments on their own videos.
Ilias: Has a wide variety of topics! Some particular favourites include Paganism (especially Eastern European Paganism), sex and body positivity, nature, art history (a recent interest), and, occasionally, dance tutorials. Generally Soft(tm) vibes and happily chats away with people in the comments. Wears those cat ear headphones, and his icon is fanart a subscriber made of him as a catboy :3
Anatole: Talks about religion and apocalypse-adjacent stuff, including some material that sounds, uh, vaguely doomsday cult-leaning. Which is. Concerning. Also, history-related stuff, including a lot of collabs with Beckett and Lucita, and mental health-related content, both informative and positivity.
Lucita: Another history-based channel who collaborates with Anatole and Beckett, she also has a side channel about physical and combat training and collaborates with her girlfriend Fatima on those, including exhibition combat matches. Has a small following of people who would like her to snap them in half like a twig. She ignores them.
Fatima: Largely a physical and combat training channel, both solo and with Lucita. She also vlogs regularly about the importance of integrity and being true to your own beliefs, including being queer and Muslim, breaking ties with abusive family members, and the like.
Nines: Lots of leftist political stuff, generally leaning into direct action, and quite a few videos have been taken down after complaints from conservatives. Particular focus on wealth inequality and poverty. Very intense demeanor, although he’s usually pretty friendly (albeit direct!) with people who seem well-intended and who want to learn more. Gets into a lot of arguments with LaCroix, both in the comments and in call-out videos.
LaCroix: One of those extremely polished-looking ‘rich trust fund kid’-vibe channels, with content on business and wealth, the history and philosophy of power and politics, and occasional luxury product reviews. Fascinated by military history, especially the Napoleanic era, and is very... very French (even though he speaks English with a British accent, claiming that since he learned English in the UK, it just stuck). Gets into a lot of arguments with Nines, both in the comments and in call-out videos. Enjoys a good unboxing video.
Roger: Very active video maker who posts about history and culture (with a special interest in both English and Zoroastrian mythology), philosophical videos about death and the afterlife, medicine and medical history, ancient religions and archeology (with an ongoing series on the London Mithraeum and the Mithraic Mysteries), and, for some reason, dealing with troublesome family members. Very calm voice. Despite the fact that he has never once worn a sweater vest, he somehow gives off immense sweater vest vibes.
Mithras: Roleplaying as an ancient Zoroastrian god living in the modern age. Refers to his fanbase as his cultists. Has never once broken character.

In Defense of Traditional Wicca.
Before I get into this I want to say that this post is not to cause debate or argument. this is only to give facts and useful sources, that debunk popular myths about what Wicca is and what it is not.
Wicca is predominantly influenced by The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which one who has read anything about ceremonial magic will see in the Wiccan ritual structure. most of what you all think you know about Gerald Gardner is from TikTok as all the talking points remain the same, and still prove to lack any real historical knowledge of the man or the religion of Wicca. Now keep in mind i am NOT an initiate in traditional Wicca, and i do NOT practice the Wiccan religion. However, I have met some very intelligent Initiates.
you may know one of them Dr. Cory Thomas Hutcheson PhD author of New World Witchery: A Trove of North American Folk Magic (Llewellyn Worldwide 2021) which is an OUTSTANDING book if you don't already have it. I have had the pleasure to sit on a presentation of Cory's at the University of Pennsylvania ( A university with global renown) another name you might know is Thorn Mooney who is currently in her PhD program. I have never had the pleasure to meet Thorn in person but have spoken with her a few times on social media. ( I would like to add that both Cory and Thorn have graduate degrees in relevant topics. Thorn's is in comparative religion focusing on modern religious movements, and Cory has his Ph.D. in folklore you can see the focus of his work on the back of New World Witchery.
Both of these highly educated people are initiates in traditional Wicca. Now Thorn writes and vlogs exclusively about trad wicca, she is an outstanding resource. She has 2 books currently out, and one she is currently writing, she also has YEARS of content on her youtube and tik tok.
so let me get to what brought me here, someone on here shared a post that said "Wiccan beliefs are not witchcraft rules. That's all. Carry on." the replies got kinda spicy. which fundamentally I agree with, we are not bound by the traditional ethics, creeds etc of traditions of which we are not a part of. However their is a lot of misconceptions about Wicca here is a short but sweet article by Thorn Mooney. that clears up a few misconceptions very briefly. https://www.llewellyn.com/journal/article/2702.
Trad Wiccans ARE in fact Witches, if you are a none initiate you know nothing of actual Wicca. Formally Wicca is a mystery tradition and therefore keeps its secrets closed to outsiders. the neo-wicca you all know and hate is an amalgam of new age thought and outer court wicca, which occurred in the 70s when the hippy movement met the Wiccan religion which was migrating to the States at the time. This is to ALL pagans, Witches, Wiccans, folk magicians, occultists etc know your history before you have an opinion. “A fool is known by his speech, and a wise man by silence.” — Pythagoras I only say this to you as someone who needed a good slice of humble pie myself at one time.
oh btw, another source for trad wicca is a YouTuber by the name of Jack Chanek. he's knowledgeable, well-spoken, and formally initiated into Trad Wicca.
so in conclusion let's be careful of where we get our information on topics related to this stuff, while it's all worth hearing it's not all correct. also, i understand that some of what i said was critical but i did not mean it maliciously, I too once thought I knew it all. we all have to be gathered in at times. i hope this can lead you to better sources to understand real Wicca.
Best Wishes.
Ps. also Thumper Forge on Tiktoc seems to know a lot about Trad Wicca and its real history

☀️ Good day everyone!
Name is Cape, I'm 22 years old, I've been practicing for 7 years now and I'm an omnist pagan of mixed decent -Zera Yisrael Sefardí, Moro/North African Andalusian and regular spanish White (celtiberian)-.
🌊 The north of Spain has a lot of folk practices and mythos that the south does not have, with this side vlog I want to figure out what little the south has and put it in a comprehensible list for any Spanish witches out there -and for myself-, this being said northern mythos and such will not be excluded and I will try to do a synchronism of sorts so that beings with different names, but that are the same/have little differences -which will be noted down-, are also taken into account.
☄️ This being said, yes I will be patriotic, but I will not tolerate facism/facha ideology here, and if I do catch anyone that thinks that way following me I will block you. This is not negotiable.
🌿 This is also a grimoire of sorts since I will be adding my own spells, correspondences and such, some of this will be UPG, have that in mind; in that same note I will most probably be posting about my deities too -be it memes or serious stuff-.

Mabon/Fall Equinox feast for all tastes! These hearty choices just put the cozy back in the kitchen with delicious meals that will please any palate.
As a pagan, Mabon, which is also known as The Witches Thanksgiving - is something I like to celebrate along with Thanksgiving because of my son. Thankfully, Mabon is on the 22nd of September and Thanksgiving is on the 24th of November.
So, at Mabon, I always like to create a different kind of feast that isn't adhered to the typical Thanksgiving Foods since we can enjoy those at a later time.
I always like using what is in season, rich, earthy, and hearty foods! Mushrooms, sage, thyme, creamy cheeses, grains, nuts, seeds, spices and herbs of all kinds! Baked breads that are rustic, sour dough, or full of textures - so add those edible flowers, herbs, nuts and seeds. You can find most of these recipes on Pinterest or vlogs.

This is deck, River Witch Oracle, is a look at the magic and symbolism of the rural southern United States. It pays homage and honors the life, blood and tears of those people whose sweat built this nation. It honors the indigenous people of the lands on which the Sanctuary of Hecate Brimo, the Catabwa and Lumbee Tribes as well as the unspeakable injustice, suffering and pain of African people, who were taken from their homes and enslaved to build this country. My first post was about my intent for this blog. Let's do some introduction this time!
Sometimes I'm comfortable sharing my face and name, and sometimes I'm not. So, it is out there to be found, but for now let's go with Loki. Maybe weird to take the name of a God, and even the one I work with and love the most. But if people can go around calling themselves Thor, I could be Loki.
Speaking of Loki the God btw, because first things first. Many see him as evil. I do not!! I see him as the kindest of them all. All he wants is laughter. Through all his tricks and mischiefs, he never wants to harm anyone. If anyone gets hurt, it is usually himself. He only lashed out in the end when his son was threatened and hurt. So I have only love for him. He has made my life chaotic for sure, but I love him for that to.
If you don't agree with that, that is totally fine. We all have our beliefs.
But. Speaking of being loving vs hateful. I have no tolerance for hate and bullying here (or anywhere within my spaces). Do not come here and be racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, etc
I might be pagan (maybe for now, maybe forever, who knows, I have considered taking my shahada as I see the beauty in Islam, but there are some things that are still a question for me, plus I feel like I'd be abandoning Loki).
Whether or not I am muslim though, this is a muslim and arab safe space. Always. I'm so in love the Middle East. I always have and I always will. My dream is to travel to Iraq. I'm an archaeologist studying the connection between the Middle East and the Nordics right now. I'm also currently learning Arabic. Seeing the genocide that is happening in Palestine right now is bringing me to tears, and I am terrified that it will spread further. So, if you are pro-Israel, find yourself blocked. I have no love for you.
On to kinder words, now that the haters and murderers are hopefully gone. I'm 36 years old (even though I feel like 36'000 years by how this life is going). I am half from Finland, half from Spain. She/Her. I am an artist and crafter. I've always dreamt of doing vlogs but been way to shy for that. Recently discovered silent vlogs however and that motivates me to start!
I am a style gremlin as I seemingly can't decide what I like. Bold colors and modern stuff. Or darker colors, vikings and dark academia. Really started to lean into the second one more. Old things, second hand. All that is good for boycotting as well and that pleases me even more.
Mostly I try to keep or buy things with the mindset "if the Zombie Apocalypse starts tomorrow, what will I keep?" This thought makes me guilty and sad as well, because of the people of Palestine that are literally in a genocide right now. And let me be clear, my obsession with the idea of an apocalypse has lived rent-free in my mind since I was 13 as I played Resident Evil for the first time and has nothing to do with the events of the past year.
My choice of that username came about a few years ago when I worked costumer service. I was stressed, depressed and got screamed at pretty much daily by costumers who thought they were always right. My brain is still broken even though I quit two years ago. Through all of that, and with my obsession with zombies and apocalypses I came to the conclusion that we are already living in a dystopian world. The apocalypse is already happening, and I am surviving... somehow.
I do with this by no means compare it to Gaza. They have it so much worse and my heart breaks into thousands of pieces every day by the thought of this. I am sharing their posts and donating money, and I still wish I could do more.
This post got LONG XD Here I thought I would go "Hi, I'm an artist/crafter, I love my cats, zombies, vikings, all things middle east/arab. I enjoy nature and dabble in seiðr/witchcraft. I'm in love with Basim from Assassin's Creed, and speaking of him, you can call me Loki."

Channel Trailer - Sacred Stories: Old Norse Religion (self-taught)
Welcome to my new channel 𝒮𝒶𝒸𝓇𝑒𝒹 𝒮𝓉𝑜𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓈! ⚒️ Where we learn about the Old Norse Religion, also known as Norse paganism & Ásatrú. In today's video, I wanted to do a channel trailer that explains what you will see 'video-wise' on this YT channel. This is my 2nd YT channel and it will feat. Book Reviews, Vlogs, Presentations on various topics concerning (Norse Paganism, Ásatrú, Heathenry, Norse Mythology, the Norse Gods & Goddesses and literature from the Northern European traditions). Everything on this channel is catered towards self-study as a new or continuing Norse Pagan. We will explore the Norse Holidays, the Poetic Edda, Prose Edda, the Hávamál, the rites, rituals, the Heathen way-of-life, and spiritual practices of this northern living tradition 🌲🏕️🔥. We will look at the past and learn from history but always bridge this nature base religion back to the modern world and live out honorable and virtuous lives as Heathens. 🐺🐾
