Trey Anastasio Makes Sweet Music with His Other Band at Brooklyn Steel on Wednesday Night
Tumblr media
Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB – Brooklyn Steel – May 22, 2024
Trey Anastasio, the lead guitarist from Phish, has been playing shows under his own name for almost exactly 25 years. His main side-project started as a trio and then added horns in various configurations. The lineup and the fact that the repertoire largely avoided overlaps meant that Anastasio’s solo work could largely avoid comparisons with the main band. Over the years, the distinctions in the song lists have blurred significantly and with the most recent “Classic TAB” lineup consisting of an identical guitar-bass-keys-drums, it’s more inviting than ever to make those one-to-one comparisons. But playing the second of three packed nights at Brooklyn Steel, Anastasio and his band showed they are their own thing with a distinct sound and their own chemistry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The band, featuring Dezron Douglas on bass, Ray Paczkowski on keys and Russ Lawton on drums, brings a jazz mindset to the jamband world. Douglas particularly made his presence felt, driving jams in “The Way I Feel” and “Cayman Review” early and creating space for the guitar and keys to explore. Phish songs like “Prince Caspian” and “Ocelot,” in the second set, exposed the quartet to “the book was better” notions, but TAB made each their own. The array of keyboards employed by Paczkowski to flavor “Ocelot” was revelatory and Lawton infused “Prince Caspian” with a fun shuffle that the rest of the band was happy to swing along to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While there were plenty of awe-inspiring guitar solos, Anastasio soaring, probing and grooving to the audience’s delight, the band was at their best when they democratized the jamming, the guitarist elevating his bandmates to equals on extended explorations out of “The Endless Dream,” “Hey Stranger,” “Oblivion” and “Life Saving Gun.” In these jams, each member layered his own improvised riffs to match the others, creating a distinctive “Trey Anastasio Band” sound that was sonically textured almost like pieces of electronica while staying eminently danceable. Like with his main band, Anastasio is an unprecedented multiple decades into the TAB project and still flowing with new ideas with a talented quartet poised to make them happen. —A. Stein | @Neddyo

Song Review: LaMP feat. Russ Lawton, Scott Metzger & Ray Paczkowski - “Out of Curiosity” (Live, Nov. 4, 2023)
Of the bands they’ve played in in the past - Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, the Trey Anastasio Band and Circles Around the Sun among them - the members of LaMP gravitate mostly toward CATS on their live version of “Out of Curiosity.”
Recoded Nov. 4, 2023, in Vermont and released to announce the trio’s March-April ’24 tour, the six-plus-minute instrumental sounds like something the former CATS guitarist Scott Metzger dragged in for former TAB drummer Russ Lawton and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski to play with. Gratefully inspired and whirled in funk and a formless, late-song breakdown, “Curiosity” hints at strong potential awaiting something unique to make LaMP shine more brightly.
In the meantime, Sound Bites is keeping his ears and eyes peeled for more dates and the group’s planned, as-yet-untitled in-concert and studio albums.
Grade card: LaMP feat. Russ Lawton, Scott Metzger & Ray Paczkowski - “Out of Curiosity” (Live - 11/4/23) - C+

From the article:
What bothers Paczkowski about her nonliberal friends is not their centrism but her suspicion that they “do not have any clue why they are moderate. They just do not want to pick a side and, therefore, they are apathetic.”

What's at your OC's core? Quiz

You can find the quiz here. Results below.
Joaquin Cobalt (The UnTitledverse)
Tumblr media
Honestly this describes Joaquin's core character almost perfectly. Due to being classified as a Balancer, the multiverse unfortunately revolves around him, even when he'd rather it not. Though his status of "supposed to be non-existent" also means the multiverse is trying to "correct" its mistake and get rid of him. Joaquin doesn't even know he's running from his past opposition as he didn't think he had much of a past to begin with, so yeah, he is at a disadvantage. Though there's nothing here about his protection over his friend nor his lack of mercy over his enemies, which is slightly disappointing.
Silva Omar (Far Cry The Silver Chronicles)
Tumblr media
Geez... this result actually holds a lot more merit to it than I expected. Silva is a mentor in a way, and becomes a more personal one to Azriel and Mercy. Her whole arc is about whether she'll continue her brutality and black-and-white view on the world or soften up and find the grey in the middle, understand it better. Show some mercy to those who deserve it. There's also the "reincarnation" thing... becoming smarter and quicker as each life resets. In a way that's how the Third Eye works... while Silva doesn't entirely know it, in each world she is "reborn" in, her Third Eye installs subconscious memories of her past lives to make her instincts quicker.
Haoyu Anabuki (Life, Despair & Monsters)
Tumblr media
The problem with Haoyu is that they were solely focused on finding their long-lost half-sister they only focus on that one goal and ignore everything else. Well... at least they try to, but the guilt of not helping others when they have the power to do so pushes them to go on ahead and do just that. Haoyu has seen so much general and cosmic horror for someone who really should be in, like, university at that point.
Marissa "Ress" Bishop (A Radioactive Calamity of Love, Bombs & Gore, a Fallout fanfic series)
Tumblr media
It's not that Ress isn't genuine in her emotions. Not at all... in fact that's mostly thanks to her half-human side. However, she has extreme difficulty with understanding emotions and extending that kind of support to others. She's also extremely powerful thanks to the magic on her non-human side. It also sucks that the first people she connected with (Amata and the Lone Wanderer) were the first people she cared for that died. She closes herself off to other companions, and becomes more distant with each new loss (her brother, mother, Charon, Raul, Christine, etc) . Eventually by the events of Fallout 4 she comes across as a bit of an asshole, and thinks every negative thing about herself is well deserved.
Crawford Klaus (The UnTitledverse and Far Cry The Silver Chronicles)
Tumblr media
A self-absorbed and careless pharmaceutical tycoon, Crawford would sell out anyone just to save his own skin and keep the status quo of him in power at peace. Even if it means drugging a British town stuck in a 1940s mindset and might be a cult, to test out knew strains of medicine and whatnot even if those people die in the process. Alexander Khaos hates this man with a burning passion, and is regretful he didn't kill the dick when he had the chance. How pleasantly unfortunate that Mr. Klaus gets the attention of the ICA and the ire of the infamous hitmen; Agent 47 and "the Cleaner" aka Albert Paczkowski.

Phantom Liberty: High Anticipation in the World of Cyberpunk 2077
Release Date: September 26, 2023.
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
Despite its troubled launch in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has gradually improved, and now, CD Projekt RED is preparing to release its largest expansion in the game's history - Phantom Liberty.
Tumblr media
What Is Phantom Liberty About?
The narrative expansion will place players in the city of Pessy, which is a blend of impoverished districts and free-trade zones. Corporations steer clear of this area, making it dangerous yet appealing to treasure hunters and those seeking to disappear.
Players will once again step into the shoes of the mercenary V and their faithful companion, the digital copy of Johnny Silverhand. Phantom Liberty's events will unfold before the main game's conclusion, and gamers will be tasked with saving the President of the New United States of America, Rosalind Myers, after her shuttle crashes in Pessy City.
Changes in Gameplay
Combat While Driving: Now, battles in cars and motorcycles become a core mechanic and are accessible at any time. This includes the ability to use melee weapons during vehicle combat.
Changes in the Police System: The police system is now more realistic. Police response will depend on the nature of the violation and the area in which it occurs. Police no longer appear instantly, and at higher wanted levels, SWAT teams known as "Max-Tac" may join the pursuit.
Changes in the Skill System: Clothing will no longer affect V's statistics. Instead, effectiveness will depend on the implants installed, which promise to provide new abilities and enhancements. V's maximum level will increase from 50 to 60.
Biotech Skill Tree: An additional skill tree in the form of a biotech chip will be added to the game. Abilities from this tree can be unlocked by finding information terminals owned by the "Militech" corporation in Pessy City.
Additional Story Development
New Ending: The expansion will introduce a new ending that depends on the player's decisions during the narrative missions of Phantom Liberty. This will allow users to experience a new epilogue for the main game.
New Soundtrack: Composers Petr Adamchik and Jacek Paczkowski have created a new soundtrack that will include more classic cyberpunk motifs and spy thriller elements.
Three New Radio Stations: Three new stations with diverse music will be introduced, including heavy tracks and melodies in the style of club and electronic music.
How to Prepare for the Release of Phantom Liberty
Replay Cyberpunk 2077: Return to the world of Night City and refresh your memories before the release of the expansion. It's important to note that Phantom Liberty will be available for both new and existing characters.
Create a New Character: You can create a new character and make different decisions to unlock alternative endings and experience a new storyline.
Use the Ability Calculator: Use the official ability calculator to plan your character build in advance.
Tumblr media
Phantom Liberty promises to be the largest and most exciting expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, introducing numerous new gameplay possibilities and variations, while enriching the game's narrative and music. Get ready to return to Night City and embark on new adventures in the cyberpunk world!

Are you lost?
And... Did you really just copy and paste from Marxists.org? The entire page from "Reply to an Inquiry of the Jewish News Agency in the United States"?
And how naughty of you, you didn't even credit it as your source like it asked! That doesn't seem very comrade of you!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so not only did you come into the house of a Ukrainian Jew quoting St*lin at them as if it refutes an entire book on antisemitism in the Soviet Union, you just copied and pasted an entire web page w/o sourcing. Fun!
For more of my sources on the antisemitism of the Soviet Union I suggest:
Antisemitism Without Jews: Communist Eastern Europe by Paul Lendval (More about antisemitism in commie places but what is even better is that it is all the more baffling because it is post-WW2 in areas where surprise there weren't all that many Jews anymore!) Power and Policy in the USSR by Robert Conquest (wherein you get to see all the fun things that were made law and all the things that were actually done! Including where Jews were concerned!) The Black Book of Communism by Nicolas Werth, Jean-Louis Margolin, Jean-Louis Panné, Karel Bartosek, Andrzej Paczkowski, Robert Laffont (some of them former commies who said writing the book was their penance!) A Century of Violence in Soviet Russia by Alexander N. Yakovlev (do you know who he was, little commie? Member of the Politburo and Secretariat of the Party throughout the 1980s? Instrumental in bringing about perestroika? Airer of all the dirty little secrets including the antisemitism?)
Tumblr media
Pictured: The spine of a book titled The Unredeemed: Anti-semitism in the Soviet Union
Succinct and to the point. Who could ask for more in a book title?
Published in 1968. A roughly 300 page book that really only details antisemitism of 1960s Soviet Union but it does link back to events all the way back to the beginning of the 1910s, 20, and 30s to show it was never anything new in the Soviet Union in the 1960s.
Pages upon pages of evidence that the Soviet Union was never a friend to Jews.

Communist Body Count
December 4, 2006 Scott Manning
The following estimates represent citizens killed or starved to death by their own Communist governments since 1918. These numbers do not include war dead. The governments are sorted by body count (highest to lowest). All numbers are mid-estimates.While this list is as complete as I have been able to determine, it is evolving. Some numbers are incomplete and there are still five Communist countries that have the potential to kill more of their citizens. Over the next year, each government will be profiled in detail on this website.A detailed bibliography is listed at the end of this page. Feedback is more than welcome. If you find this interesting, check out Nazi Body Count.
