In 2015, an amateur photographer named Martin Le-May captured an extraordinary image of a weasel riding on the back of a green woodpecker in Hornchurch Country Park, London. The photo, which went viral, depicted the weasel clinging to the woodpecker, likely during a predatory attack.
Le-May said he and his wife were out for a walk when he heard an unusual squawking in the bushes and witnessed the woodpecker in flight with a weasel on its back, quickly taking several photos.
