Pachmarhi Trip… January 2018.

 A long weekend and time to celebrate… Pachmarhi has been on our minds since the time we had shifted to Indore. We kept hearing that it is beautiful and serene place and a must visit in state of Madhya Pradesh.

We started very early in the morning ( around 5 am ) as we thought we cover maximum distance , while the kids ( 7 year old daughter and 2 year old son ) are sleeping and of course, in lesser traffic.

After getting our petrol tank full, our journey to Pachmarhi started. From Indore you have to take the highway going to Bhopal… i.e. to Dewas and that turn right towards Bhopal. It is good six lane highway to Bhopal from Dewas. Dodi (Highway retreat restaurant) was our next stop for quick cup of tea and some poha. It took about 2 hours to reach Dodi from Indore. From Dodi, we drove till Sehore and then took a right as soon as we saw a signboard of Crescent water Park (diagonally opposite). Now, this is single lane road, however, good and pothole free. This road takes to you to Nasrullaganj...to Hoshagabad and finally to Pachmarhi. We reached Pachmarhi Cantonment gate by around 2 pm ( a bit slow, as I am a slow driver ). There is ghat section, after the Cantonment gate & before you hit the Pachmarhi town. This road is a bit narrow but quite scenic and safe .

We had booked ourselves into an MP Tourism property…“Champak Bungalow” which was supposed to a Governor house in olden times but now a sprawling tourist stayhouse. A very good , clean and well managed hotel though a bit from the main market.  After check in process, which was quite smooth, our quest for Pachmarhi started. While, there are many points to visit , however, we decided that we shall only visit limited and good tourist points, especially with kids.  

After a lot of deliberation, we decided to visit Bee falls, Jatashanker, Dhoopgarh & Pandava caves. For visiting all these tourist points, it is best advisable to hire a Gypsy and these are easily available. There is any office enroute to Champak Bungalow from Pachmarhi market .The payment of RS. 1425/- for the gypsy has to be made at the Bison lodge (the Gypsy driver would take you there before he starts the tour). This Rs. 1425/- includes a guide, who also accompanies you on the tour.

First, we visited Jatashanker, a place where Lord Shiva concealed/hid himself from the wrath of Bhasmasur. He, apparently, deceived Bhasmasur by leaving behind his long matted hair and you can see a rock formation resembling the same. In addition, there are natural Shiva lings, a rock formation resembling Sheshnaag and much more, to make it worth a visit.  

Next, we visited the Pandava caves, supposedly, a place where the Pandavas hid themselves during the exile period. A lot though, is to be imagined. Bee falls, our next stop, is a beautiful waterfall and it was time to enjoy the pristine waters of the fall. It is definitely a must visit and our kids had great time in the waters. Please do carry spare clothes, as it will difficult to resist not taking/enjoying this natural shower.

Last and the final place in our day’s itinerary was Dhoopgarh, which is bit far and the highest point the Satpura hills. It’s a nice place to watch the sun go down. The place, made like an amphitheater, has ample space to sit and watch. A relaxed evening in the end.

We also spend some time at the Satpura Adventure club, next day, enjoying adventure activities like Land parasailing , Zip lining etc. Good place to unwind.

While, coming back from Pachmarhi do try and pick up some Honey , as you get good quality Honey ,especially, at the Jain Ayurvedic store.

Being born in a rural village of Madhya Pradesh, when ever Madhya Pradesh was at its growing stage. Those days are actually milestone for today's Madhya Pradesh, which is almost to the track of change. Presently, Madhya Pradesh is tenth largest sized state by GDP is being hailed as a rising market state in India. However , given its poor details in poverty eradication, human development indicators and can growth, it has yet to go a long way to achieve its make reputation among Indian states. As I born and decided to buy up in Madhya Pradesh, I travel the length and breadth of the state right from Gwalior to Pachmarhi and Jhabua to Sidhi. After its establishment on 01 Nov 1956, many governments came in power and did what they is capable of doing to change the situation of the state. Though change can be seen from the comfort of the establishment of the state but the dramatic changes which I experienced in the last decade is unimaginable. The changes come from and also across all the major sectors which may be considered as underdeveloped right up till now. Health, Education, Infrastructure, Agriculture and Investments could be the major areas of concerns now-a-days, which grown with the unusual rate during the decade. But some areas are still underdeveloped and also I can say that undermanaged, which government needs to take care straight away. Now, consider the example that the number of people below poverty tier is 38 per cent of the people in Madhya Pradesh. They're leading their lives below the poverty line officially. In reality this number is as much as 60 per cent in the population. Despite of the fact that many talks about development and even the large companies like Reliance Industries set up industries here along with earn profit, it does not actually benefit the poor of the status. We are hiding the poor status of a large chunk on the society and despite a number of developmental activities; their benefits didn't reached the poor. This is just an example to elaborate what which are still hidden in terms of development and governing administration need to think of these areas if they want to pick the moment for growth in terms of safe, secure and a comfortable everyday life for a common man. If I remember correctly...??? Though, you're the second largest state by area in the country and seventh largest state by population with 5. 87% public, we are still lacking behind some other states and even a lot of the small countries (rated below Ethiopia and Chad with regards to poverty). I can remind my past moments with a little bit pressure on my memory. I use to travel in a bus but it took almost 3 hours to travel a distance for around 22 Km. I use to go to district hospital for that small body check up or some general medicine. I saw babies to go to school to some nearby town/district by bicycle/bus. I saw farmers to go to district market to buy a small thing that is certainly necessary for their daily work life. But now situation is really different. Madhya Pradesh grown up with more than unexpected rate some areas but still we need to look in to uncovered areas that is definitely a reason for undermine the value and the status of the assert. Madhya Pradesh did a great job in terms of development in some heart sectors. These core sectors include Infrastructure, Health, Investment strategies, Agriculture and Telecommunication, to name just a few. Now-a-days, people are allowed to enjoy the basic amenities which an "aam-aadmi" has a directly to do. The Changes...??? This decade (2001-2010) is a catalyst just for growth of Madhya Pradesh in terms of size and numbers. Fairly recently, Madhya Pradesh stands eighth in literacy with 76. 5% according to National Family Health Survey (NFHS) which is certainly released on 11 Oct 2007. We are eleventh with regard to tax revenue contribution of 127, 222 crore Rs. The state has five domestic airports located at Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Khajuraho. Government after 2001-02, did a great job till now and I hope that they will continue it. The way of doing the work by the present government is really admired by the consumers of Madhya Pradesh. One thing which I should accept on the current CM of the state is that "If you want to run the change, you have to be a strategist in thinking in addition to aggressive in nature". Present CM proved himself your catalyst for the Madhya Pradesh in general and for the people with the state in particular.
