Day 3: Cuddles

Fandom: Gravity Falls

Characters: Lee Pacifica, Ler Mabel.

Summary: Mabel has been begging for cuddles and Pacifica gives in, and nothing goes wrong.

‘Pacifica…Pacificaaaaaa!’

Pacifica didn’t even glance up from her book at this point, a blank expression on her face which only shifted whenever she blinked or yawned. It wasn’t like she was annoyed or anything like that, she had just gotten used to tuning out Mabel’s loud, whiny antics in favour of getting whatever she was doing at the time finished before giving her attention to her girlfriend again.

Once she finally looked up from her book, she saw Mabel sitting by her socked feet, her eyes wide and locked on Pacifica, pure adoration resting in her pupils. Wordlessly, the brunette raised her arms and made grabby hands towards Pacifica, not always being the best at verbalising her requests, even if she had been shouting for attention for the last fifteen minutes.

Pacifica smiled a little at her, grabbing Mabel by her armpits and pulling the girl into her lap, having discarded her book to the side. Mabel smiled widely, squeaking a little from happiness as she immediately nestled herself into her girlfriend’s lap.

‘You know,’ Pacifica spoke softly, wrapping one protective arm around Mabel’s shoulders, ‘you can just use your words and ask for cuddles next time.’

Mabel shook her head, giggling playfully as she rested her head on the blonde’s shoulder, keeping her arms wrapped around her neck. ‘Nope! Bothering you is so much more fun that!’

‘Mhm,’ Pacifica rested her back against a soft, fluffy pillow , finally having stopped shuffling around enough for Mabel to get fully settled onto her girlfriend’s lap. ‘I’ll give you that, if there’s one thing your better at me at, your a really great pest.’

Mabel let out a fake gasp as Pacifica stuck out her tongue at the girl, a smirk on her lips. ‘Excuse me? Excuse you? Excuse us?! I’m your girlfriend, not a pest, I’m allowed to say that about myself, you aren’t!’

Mabel huffed, staring right up at Pacifica with a serious-unserious expression plastered onto her face. Pacifica played along with her bit, raising her hands up defensively as she giggled.

‘Alright, Iahah’m saharry, your not a pest, sweetie,’ Pacifica smiled sweetly at her, though Mabel didn’t seem fully satisfied, still feeling slightly mischievous.

‘Your not really sorry, if you were you wouldn’t be laughing! Hm, how about I give you something to laugh about then?’

Before Pacifica could even process what Mabel was saying, her girlfriend’s fingers had already plunged themselves into her armpits. The girl gaped sharply, clenching up her arms and effectively trapping Mabel’s fingers against her hollows.

‘W-waihahahat, Mahahahabel!!’

It wasn’t too uncommon that Pacifica would become the victim of her girlfriend’s tickle attacks, it was practically a given seeing how much Mabel loved to tickle people all the time and I mean all the time. The girl never, ever got tired of making some squeal and laugh at just a couple pokes or scratches, and Pacifica was no exception to this rule. In fact, ever since they started dating, Pacifica had become even more of a target for Mabel’s dexterous, tickling fingers.

‘Tickle, tickle, tickle!’

Mabel grinned as she saw how red Pacifica’s face got from that, finally making the girl raise her arms up to cover her blushing, flustered face, in turn leaving those sensitive hollows totally helpless to Mabel’s fingers.

‘Dahahahahahan’t sahahahahay thahahahat wahahahaahard!!’

The Northwest squealed and wriggled and writhed against Mabel’s hands but she couldn’t really do much to get away since her girlfriend was on top of her. And she’d rather die then pull her arms down to show off her blushing, laughing face. Mabel just giggled at her antics though, tilting her head, almost like an idea sparked in her brain,

‘Can you really not handle it when someone says tickle? Poor ticklish Pacifica, can’t handle any of the tickles on her super ticklish armp-!’

‘Stahahahaahahahap thahahahahahahat!!’

Pacifica cried out as that annoying, crimson reminder of her embarrassment had crept all the way up to her ears now, making the girl wish she could just hide her face in her llama sweater. She got a lot more squirmy at this point, eager for an escape from the tickle monster that she had decided to date, the girl’s socked heels pounded down onto the bed while her waist sharply twisted about from side to side, hoping to get away from Mabel’s hands.

But since Mabel was tickling her from both sides, she just ended up adorably flinging herself into her girlfriend’s nails each time, causing her to squeal and flinch away. Mabel just smiled fondly at the sight, it want like it was rare for Pacifica to show emotion but she looked absolutely, adorable hysterical right now in a way Mabel barely ever got to see.

And truth be told, Pacifica wasn’t hating it either. The poor blonde was just never really used to being flustered at all, much less in front of her girlfriend of all people, and because of tickling (that’s still hard for her to say) of all things. Even with that, the sensations were so pleasant and tingly, it was like a massage but the Mabel way; the way that makes you scream with laughter.

Unfortunately for Pacifica though, the girl really wasn’t able to handle that much tickling given that she hadn’t experienced much of it in her childhood. She slid her arms away from her face very slowly, showing that sweet, hysterical smile of hers that distracted Mabel momentarily as she just looked adoringly at her girlfriend, who asked through giggles,

‘Nahahaha more, pleahahase,’

Mabel’s fingers almost immediately left Pacifica’s armpits as she sat next to her and, while she was still re catching her breath, scooped her up and set her down on her lap, keeping one comforting arm wrapped around her waistline while she gently flicked and messed around with her ponytail with the other.

‘You know, for someone as..twordish as you, you handled that really well!’

Pacifica smiled at her before laying her head on Mabel’s chest, cuddling up to her.

‘I am so lucky to have you, Mabel Pines.’

Pacifica: mmm… fine. It’s not like my parents even celebrated my real birthday.but if I get even as much as one pine needle in my hair I’m suing your grunkle!

Dipper/Mabel: grunkles.

All right I take the bait. Why do you believe Manel should have accompanied Pacifica at the party

AHHH THANK YOU IM SO EXCITED TO EXPLAIN MYSELF (in reference to this post)

ok. northwest mansion mystery is a great episode obviously. but HERES why i think the episode would've been even better if mabel was in dippers spot!!!!!! its kinda a lot so i put it under a read more

so this episode is sort of the middle-ish of season 2 i think, right before the ford reveal!! its not a super long show anyway so theres not a ton of pacifica appearances, anyway. BUT in EVERY SINGLE OTHER PACIFICA EPISODE, her energy has been bouncing off of mabel!!! from their meeting in double dipper, to irrational treasure, to golf war; they have been established as the main dynamic here. golf war is especially important here, because this is the very first step in pacfica's redemption arc! mabel saves her in this episode, the pines give her a ride home, and it seems like pacifica is going to start being a little more understanding of mabel because she had misjudged her, hence why she was treating her so poorly. it looks like theyre gonna establish a friendship between them!

and then. they dont. they basically never interact again. because the next time we see pacifica, she goes straight to dipper in northwest manor mystery. the cold open implies that the northwests wanted dipper specifically because of his knowlege of how to deal with the supernatural but IN MY OPINION that DOESNT EVEN MAKE SENSE because we NEVER see dipper fighting these monsters on his own? hes ALWAYS with mabel. at the very least, i think it shouldve been BOTH of them??? we see a brief shot of a newspaper clipping where dipper is fighting a vampire bat or something and i just. when did this happen. where is mabel

that would be a fine argument for it being both of them instead of just mabel so heres one of my bigger points thats gonna come back a lot in this breakdown: dipper. does not like pacifica. he STRAIGHT UP HATES HER. every single interaction theyve had has been negative!!! its even massively negative at the beginning of this ep!!!! though mabel often dislikes pacifica, she TRIES REALLY HARD TO LIKE HER. mabel has a lot of love in her heart, and if she could, shed want to be her friend!!! its always been pacifica whos been rejecting those advances!!! golf war was the start of pacifica understanding that about mabel, and it nmm wouldve been the PERFECT time to wrap up that arc, rather than leaving it!!!

and i would argue that could STILL LEAD INTO A DIPCIFICA ARC, if thats what the showrunners/fans wanted? most of why dipper hates pacifica to begin with is because shes so terrible to mabel. he only agrees to go to the party in canon because MABEL wants to!!! imo, i think the lead in to them being a couple would be a million times better if that massive problem in their relationship was solved first

i dont PERSONALLY like dipcifica but im trying to stay unbiased about this if you cant tell

i would also argue that like. dipper just seems really out of character. the reason i picked some of the scenes i did for my redraws, was because they were scenes that i think his behavior would fit mabel a lot better. examples:

why do the northwests have a suit in dippers size anyway. he literally doesnt even like wearing it sjkfhkj in a potential re-write of this ep, i considered that mabel would come in wearing her super extravagent home made dress, and it would 'violate dress code', so she would be forced to wear one of pacificas we could still have that cute dress-up expo scene that we do AND have some fun commentary/symbolism about pacifica being nervous about having her in the dress because its NICE and TOO GOOD FOR HER and she looked FINE BEFORE ANYWAY

mabels empathy is a recurring theme in the show. shed WANT to give pacifica the benefit of the doubt, and would be VERY betrayed when finding out her and her family already knew about the ghosts and knew what he wanted. i understand that dipper was so upset because it seemed like pacifica was changing for the better just to find out that she wasnt, but i think this fits so much better with mabel, because shes always WANTED to believe that shes secretly a good person. she would be glad to see her turn a corner, and would be upset when finding out she was 'wrong', and that she really was mean deep down. whcih would obviously lead to her comforting her later/finding out the truth about her etc etc. on the other hand, dipper literally never believed she had good in her. from the first interaction we see of them, he thinks shes as terrible as her family. he ISNT as interested in giving her the benefit of the doubt and if it wasnt a life or death situation i dont think he wouldve forgiven her. IDK i just think its more in character for her

the dancing scene!!! honestly this works fine as is (i can see both dipper and mabel being excited to make a mess on a fancy carptet) but idk i just think it carries so much more weight if its these two girls. silly moments for mabel!!!! pacifica getting to really be a kid and not just a sparkly prop!!!!!!! pacifica finally indulging in her sillyness that she mocked in irrational treasure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok moving on. one of the bigger things that bother me about it being dipper here instead of mabel is one teeny tiny (honestly really irrational) scene at the party. in it, dipper is confronted by fiddleford, who tells him he has big news about the author/the laptop and the towns in danger and its vitally important and dipper just. shrugs him off???!!?!?!?! i cannot even IMAGINE. in alex hirschs words "the first season is about dipper being in love with wendy, and the second is about him being in love with the author" meaning that. those are the TWO things that dipper is completely and totally obsessed with. hes clearly not over wendy (as we see in later episodes) and this is not long after sock opera/society of the blind eye so youd THINK hed be more depserate for answers than ever!??!?! this child was willing to sell out his great uncle and raise the dead and stay up for several nights in a row for answers, and the second he is offered some (from a man who WORKED WITH THE AUTHOR btw) hes like like 'whatevr'?!?!?! it is so out of character and it drives me fucking nuts every time. i know hes starting to like pacifica now but as we see in the comics (if you chose to think those are canon) HE DOESNT EVEN SEEM TO LIKE HER THAT MUCH!??!?! hes STILL convinced shes vain, and mean, and selfish!!!! he DOES start to have a little arc with her but jksdfjksf IDK i just cant in a million years see him passing up the chance for answers to the biggest mystery in gravity falls to hang out with a girl he tolerates

but yknow who i CAN see doing that? MABEL!!!!!!!! mabel would be concerned when mcgucket comes up to her, and starts talking like this!!!! i can totally see her suggesting that he relax for a little while and enjoy the party like dipper did, and then forgetting to come back to talk/not running into him later!!!! ESPECIALLY since i can see mabel WANTING to spend time with pacifica where dipper just. really doesnt seem to want to MOST of the time

ok ill admit that this last one is sort of a personal opinion. but i just. i really dont like the B plot of this episode with mabel and the girls. IDK its just so annoying and pointless to me to have a plot where its just a bunch of girls turning against each other over a guy. im not gonna say its mysoginistic bc i know little girls can be boy crazy but i just. dont see why there was a need to make them fight/turn against grenda briefly??? even when they rekindled and it was all ok in the end its just. in comparison to the A plot its so. Nothing.

in my head i have a rewrite of this episode and how it goes is that pacifica approaches dipper and asks for help and he turns it down (like he does in canon). mabel suggests that they do it anyway, but he refuses, as he wants nothing to do with her. when dippers gone, mabel agrees to help (and pacifica begrudgingly accepts bc it seems like the only option) and so she steals the journal when dippers not looking. she goes to the party, and events go pretty much the same?? only major difference i can think of is that the B plot is replaced by one where dipper realizes mabel and the journal are missing, so he sneaks into the manor/sneaks around the house trying to find he rand get it back (and its so massive he has no luck). the reason i think THAT works is because we can even still have the scene where dipper turns to wood like shifty prophesied!!!! and i would even argue it makes more sense this way because wasnt shiftys warning that "if you keep digging so deep into the secrets of gravity falls, this will be the last form youll ever take" ?

tldr: pacifica and mabels friendship plotline was left on a total cliffhanger after golf war and if mabel replaced dipper in nmm it would've been a good resolution to it

Vampire falls

Vampire falls chapter 1- this is our town and we run the show

Under her feet the staircase creaked, the feet belonged to Mabel Maria Pines,the once bubbly carefree resident of gravity falls Oregon, known by everyone in town. That was of course a different time in the town's history, before the vampires made themselves know, before everything changed. Gideon Gleeful, of all people, was the ruler of the vampires. Mabel sighed in expiration, she was the main bait for Gideon, he wanted her, her everything and it made her absolutely sick to her stomach to think about.

The day he went missing they figured out things had to change, the men were all gone and soon most girls followed suit. Those left ran.

Not that they would get very far.

The dresses tended to keep movement restricted, Victorian ladies didn't get very far when the ripper attacked.

Oh and vampires were faster.

The shack seemed like a perfect place, some supernatural barrier kept them safe

But they couldn't be in there forever, they had to eat.

At the kitchen table sat the ginger girl she had once looked up to with such a high regard,

Now?

Now the two were complete equals in pretty much every way.

"good morning Mabel , sleep well"

No

"Yeah,you?"

"I slept good, thanks"

They were both lying, Wendy's voice was scruffy and scratchy and she couldn't hide the bags under her eyes. None of them could.

The act of constantly playing cat and mouse, day in day out was getting to them.

Food was on the decline and soon they'd have nothing, no choice but to give themselves in.

The brown haired girl walked towards the sink and poured herself a glass of water, the world outside the shack was what she had to fight against, plants were over growing and coming from the forest- it meant protection

From him

Without even thinking about it she put a hand to her bare neck where her first bite mark was.Her fingers seemed to fall into the holes made by the piercing teeth.

He'd grabbed her by the arm when it all started, she could feel him cutting off the flow of blood in her arm, she knew he wasn't letting go of her.

"Get off of me" she screamed as she tried to fight to get away from him.

She just had to get back to the shack, back to where she was safe.

He pulled her by the waist so her back was against him, she felt his breath on her neck as he moved her hair out of the way.

This is the end she had though, this is where death finally catches up to me.She gasps as the fangs pierce the skin and she starts to feel faint.

She shakes her head moving her hand away from her neck and putting the cup on the side next to the sink before turning back to look at wendy "So do we have any plans for the vampires,then "

Wendy didn't look up instead just shaking her head and scrolling through what looked like news, they didn't hear from the rest of the world much

The rest of the world already didn't know of the town, who would care now?

"The rest of the world is still functioning, without us" Wendy said, finally looking up from her tablet.

She didn't look the same anymore, neither did Mabel, Wendy's hair had lost it's natural shine and her body was starting to lose its shape showing that finally the vampires were getting to one of them. Mabel on the other hand had started to fill out her body while at the same time grabbing onto whatever food it can find. The dress made it seem worse, gideon had personally picked out the dress for her, the note he had left was even more chilling

'I'll have you dressed up, by my side for my personal use'

She had thrown the note away and crawled into the corner looking at the dress on the hanger with her mouth covered, she wanted to scream, she wanted to cry, she just wanted to go back to the life she had before. This wasn't something a newly turned 13 year old should have to think about.

"Actually"

Mabel turned her head to look at wendy again, the ipad was face down on the table and she looked serious now

"I've been thinking about this for a while, it's kind of this make or break plan for us though"wendy went to rub her shoulder and look down at the floor, the corset of the black dress seemed to hold her completely in place.

She looked like a maid and it wasn't fitting

"I'm listening"

Wendy looked up at her "Storm gideons castle"

Mabel looked at her with wide eyes before shaking her head and turning it into a determined nod- it was the logical next step, there was nothing else the group could actually do.

"Just give the world and we'll go"

They could fail, they could fail bad

They could die

Or worse, they could become the vampires

The monsters

There was movement above them, the other three presumably had woken up to the night ahead. The vampires basically forced them to work on a night schedule, it just worked so much better for them

There was no point trying to escape during the day because they would be found

That was worse than death

Punishment would be slow and agonising, a simple neck snap would be too quick.

Soon Wendy and Mabel were not alone, tambry gretta and candy had joined them in the kitchen. Wendy seemed to have switched into leader mode by this point, ready to give the girls what they needed to do that day.

"Alright girls, here's what we're running low on, water, food and medical supplies'' Tambry says checking a list that they had put up near the pantry where most of the food used to be kept. She then turned to younger girls who were all standing up against the sink.

Candy had brought mabel's choker down from her bed so she was adjusting the strap of leather around her neck

It was the only thing that actually kept her safe

"Candy and gretta are going to be getting the food that we need, basically fruit and veg is what we need right now,if you can get a hold of bottled water do it"Tambry then turns to look at mabel with what seems like a sympathetic eye "Unfortunately mabel that puts you alone getting the medical supplies we need"

Mabel nodded at tambry before looking over at wendy for a second or two "I'm sure ill be fine, besides he won't send out a higher up vampire for a store break in"

Tambry nodded at her before dismissing herself, the other two girls took this as an opportunity to grab their weapons should they get caught by a vampire on this venture. Mabel's own weapon, her knife , was downstairs within one of the walls.

There was a spare under her pillow, she just liked this one the most.

It was the knife that started it all really, the note that alerted her to vampires having been pinned to the wall of the shack with that knife.

She'd been the one to pull it out, not dipper.

She pulled it out of the wall, pulled the skirt of her dress up so that one of her legs was exposed enough so that she could reach the strap she had made from an old belt.

After a long while of this the skin had basically made a ridge for where the knife could go, the tip sometimes cuts the skin which leads to her getting found easier.

A hand grabs her shoulder

She acts quick grabbing her knife out of the strap and turns around holding her knife in the air. Wendy had been the one to grab her shoulder and thank goodness was able to grab Mabel's arm before the knife got lodged into her neck-- that would not have been easy to explain.

Mabel lowers her arm and puts the knife away before turning to look at Wendy again. She has a worried type look on her face "we need to act quick,gideon will be getting restless,he'll come for you mabel and you know it"

Mabel sighs before nodding at her "I know, he's got me and it's just waiting for him to strike"

She didn't like admitting she was playing into someone's hands

On the other end of the town was the Northwest mansion, it had lost any of the colour that may have been within the walls of the mansion.In the study that had once belonged to Preston sat the vampire who had started the first town take over in a few centuries.

He grinds his teeth together as he walked around the study "He's late" He practically growled it as he stopped at the desk putting his hands on the desk before pushing books out of the way "He's always late"

He looked up at the picture he had left in Preston, some portrait of his wife and daughter- clearly he didn't value it all too much, much less his daughter when they fled the town.

The slouching position wasn't much to his liking so he stood up, picking up a glass and taking a sip from it staring at the door with a glare. Not even the sound of some human girl getting bitten from three rooms down softened the glare.

She was out there, she was growing weaker and she couldn't deny him for much longer.

Part of the deal was done, the boy was missing to finish the deal.

"What a dangerous glare" a voice said from behind, gideon turned to see him

"You're late"

Random little GF Headcanons I’ve gained from re-watching the series.

Wendy and Soos both thought that Dipper and Mabel were gonna be like normal kids who need guidance and protection 24/7, which is why Wendy was so ‘just let him come he’s little’ in The Inconveniencing, but by the time Boss Mabel comes around they all realize that they’re basically independent and just let ‘em go.

Dipper and Mabel’s parents are those kinds of people that Stay Together For The Kids, despite not being happy anymore. It’s why Mabel is so into things like “Force Love!” and Dipper believes swooning someone requires you to monitor them closely.

Dipper once chugged two gallons of Mabel Juice on a dare. No one is allowed to speak of this.

The Bell was far from the first attempt Preston made to control Pacifica- it’s just the most effective. Sometimes she flinches when he raises his voice just right, or pats her head.

Dipper and Mabel learn through trial and error how to fix up floorboards, plumbing, vehicles, look they know how to fix things okay.

Wendy and Soos had this unspoken agreement with Stan that his house was always open to them, but they never felt interested in sitting around Stan’s living room unless they were really bored. Once Dipper and Mabel happened and Soos got the shack Wendy basically lives with them.

The day after they get the shack back from Gideon, Stan wakes the whole house up for a 1 a.m. trip to a waffle house to celebrate, grabbing Soos and Wendy on the way through. They all think it’s ‘cause they got the shack back/survived being attacked by zombies. It’s not.

Wendy’s voice interrupted Mabel. “We are.”

Mabel turned around and voice was caught in her throat. Wendy was dressed in the signature outfit of her girlfriend, Pacifica Northwest.

It took a moment but Mabel found her voice. “Why?”

“We ah, we lost a bet.”

“With who?”

“With me.” It was none other than Pacfica herself.

Mabel thought for a moment. “What was the bet?”

All three party members answered at the same time. “We don’t want to talk about it.”

If I had written Roadside Attraction I would have included Pacfica,by having her parent's sent her on the trip with the others as a punishment for what she did in Northwest Manor Mystery then you can also get some follow up on the shiptease between her and Dipper focusing on that instead of Dipper flirting with a bunch of different girls

Mmm I dunno if I’d include Pacifica, tbh I would have just made this whole thing with Dipper flirting with all these different girls to be less serious than the episode apparently takes it because its just fucking flirting, its completely noncommittal its not like he was actually starting any actual relationships with any of them and really, he wasn’t even mean to Candy at all so it still kinda baffles me that he was the one expected to apologize to her at the end of it all like that doesn’t make any sense????  (of course, the thing that baffles me most is where this episode is placed in the order of episodes as a whole but whatever I guess that’s why I’m putting it in a different place in UF)
