a cheesy takajin fic i wrote a few months ago

A long day of fulfilling requests, it never got old, although it never failed to become exhausting sometimes.

Jin sighed as he laid back against the bed of the hotel room, his briefcase set down on the floor beside it as he shut his eyes.

Of course, he typically never was the one to actually execute the killings, that was Takaya's job, his job was just to actually find the targets.

Although, running around this damned island did begin to get tiring sometimes, especially when the requests became petty, but what did they care, they were getting paid regardless.

He heard noises in the hotel room, and he could feel someone's eyes on him. Familiar eyes.

Of course, he knew it was Takaya, because who else could it be? An intruder? No one would dare.

As much as he knew it was him, he didn't open his eyes, curious of what the Messiah just may do, as to him, it probably looked like he quickly fell asleep.

Slowly, he felt skinny arms wrap around him, and something rest against his chest, presumably Takaya's head.

Takaya was always unnaturally hot, which combatted him always being unnaturally cold, not to mention, it brought him a sense of comfort. He hoped it was the same for Takaya as well.

It wasn't very difficult for him to relax into the taller man's arms, nor did it take him very long.

“Jin,”

He heard his boss say smoothly.

“I know you're awake,”

His eyes snapped open to look down at the grinning man, face reddening as he realized.

Oh my god.

What a fucking embarrassment.

“T— Takaya?”

He stuttered, confused. If he knew he was awake, then why did he do that at all? It made no sense.

“Yes, my dearest disciple?”

Takaya asked sweetly, the grin never leaving his expression. Jin both hated and loved that.

“What are you doing?”

The tech geek questioned, earning a small shrug from the other.

“Cuddling you. Is it not obvious?”

Takaya answered, as if it was nothing at all in the world, when to Jin, this was everything.

“You're such a menace sometimes,”

Jin said with a roll of his eyes, which caused Takaya to hum and move closer, evidently spooning the shorter man.

“And yet you still stay around me, Jin,”

The coder sighed, but didn't resist nor move, instead just further relaxing into his arms.

“I stay around my savior.”

He answered, which seemed to please Takaya as neither of them spoke another word.

Frankly, both of them could get used to this.

“i promise, i'll keep you safe! no matter what!”

that's the promise jin had given you when you were children. despite how scrawny he was, he was always there to protect you from your bullies. because jin would do anything to keep you safe.

but over time, things began to change. jin began to change. and despite everything in his life changing, the only thing that would never change was the promise he gave you. he would always keep you safe. no matter what.

“i'm only doing this to keep you safe–!!”

jin and you had been arguing and yelling at each other for hours now, after you had found out that your best friend had not only threatend a guy that asked you out, but tried to get him end contact with you altogether.

“you're not keeping me safe! because he's not a threat, jin–!”

jin couldn't stand how you defended that guy. you went on a couple dates with and suddenly he had become more important to you than him? wasn't he supposed to be your best friend? the most important person in your life?

“he's not a threat yet! but he will be, once he ends up hurting you! whether he wants it or not, he'll do it! and then i'll be the one comforting you again, after another asshole broke your heart–!”

you sighed and rubbed your temple. when did jin become this stubborn? had he always been like this and you just never noticed?

“jin… if he ends up breaking my heart, then so be it. but you can't protect me from everything…”

“don't say that–!” jin shook his head. “didn't i promise i'd keep you safe? no matter what? back then, you wanted it! you wanted my help, so why not now?”

it went quiet. you silently let his words run through your head, trying to find the right words. words that wouldn't hurt jin. words that would finally end this fight.

“we're not children anymore, jin. we have both changed, haven't we?”

jin shook his head.

“no, you have changed! i still love you as much as i did when we were young! and i'd still protect you with everything i got! so don't say we have changed when you meant to say you have changed.”

the two of you got silent. jin stared at you, with such intensity in his eyes that you weren't sure if he'd yell at you or if he'd kiss you. and truly, you weren't sure which one you'd prefer.

“if you don't want me around anymore – if you don't want me to hold onto a promise you seem to have forgotten about – then tell me!”

“i'll always want you around, jin–! don't act like i'd ever not want you around…”

you took a step forward and softly cupped jin's cheeks. despite the angry glare in his face, you could see behind his facade. he wasn't angry at you. he was hurting. because he loved you.

“you're my best friend, jin. and i don't want to lose what we have, alright?”

jin gently removed your hands from his face and gently held them within his own.

“i don't want to lose what we have either, but… i want more than this. i can't stand to see you with guys anymore that aren't good enough for you, when i'm here, ready to give you the whole world and more. to keep you safe and happy…”

you avert your gaze. but jin notices right away.

“you're hesitant. but why? why would you need to hesitate? don't you love me too?”

“i do–!” you sigh. “but… what if we mess up? i don't want to lose you. if we'd break up–”

“–then i'd still be your best friend. and i'd still keep you safe, like i promised. nothing could keep me away from you, trust me. but you have to give us a chance…”

slowly, you looked up at jin again. the intensity in his eyes was back, but now you knew for certain why he looked at you like this. jin wanted to kiss you. he wanted to hold you, call you his and so much more. and honestly, so did you.

“promise me, that we'll stay friends if we break up– n-no, wait… promise me, that we'll never break up–!”

you held up a pinky finger. jin couldn't help but smile as he recalled a similar situation when you two were little. the two of you, interlinking pinky fingers as jin made his promise.

jin held up his pinky finger as well, a soft smile lingering on his lips. he interlocked his finger with yours, slowly leaning in and just before his lips met yours, he whispered:

“i promise.”

jin can be incredibly clingy towards takaya. he is very dependent on him and on vulnerable days he will have panic attacks if he doesn’t hear from takaya, fearing something happened to him.

none of strega really like physical contact. takaya will go feral if someone touches him without permission, but he does enjoy it with jin, and is often the one to instigate it with him.

jin watches/reads featherman !!

chidori does makeup on jin sometimes just for fun and to see what he’ll look like. sometimes she does a genuinely good job and sometimes she’ll purposely make him look dumb as hell.

chidori is very disconnected from her emotions, but manages to understand other people’s emotions more than her own.

chidori has a decent amount of lolita style dresses that she literally just stole from places during the dark hour.

takaya enjoys chess and card games !!

strega is constantly on the move and does not have one set place they stay at. they hop from hotels, motels, and sometimes warehouses if they have to.

during nights with no requests they sometimes like to play shitty ripoff versions of board games together.

jin and chidori are found family siblings !!!

takaya and jin are gay trans men, but i also sort of see jin being some sort of non-binary. chidori is a bi trans woman !!

jin uses neopronouns and xenopronouns !!

takaya sometimes sends the other two random ass memes and most of them don’t even make sense. they’ll be having a serious convo over text and then takaya will just send jin the “I know what you are” dog or something.

jin , before they discovered sees , often played mmos alongside fuuka without actually knowing who she is. sometimes they’d be in guilds together, other times they’d be rivals.

takaya has a journal where he writes down like.. everything. including his experiences at the lab. this is also how , in a universe where he survives after nyx , he remembers everything after nyx is sealed.
