Today, while I can still remain here - Nishizono Renga Birthday SSR Card Story Translation
Happy Birthday, Renga!
(Translation notes at the end)
Renga: (Today’s the birthday of “Nishizono Renga”.)
Renga: (I heard from my manager that there's a leading role lined up that only I can play.)
Renga: Alright, my looks are on point.Time to go.
Yukikaze: Renga.
Yukikaze: Target secured.
Renga: Hah!?
Renga: …
Muneuji: Hachinoya-san. Excuse me, can you raise the rightmost decoration by 2 millimeters? It’s sloping ever so slightly.
Nagi: Got it. Still, it’s really pretty, this ornament.
Muneuji: According to Lu-senpai, it’s customary for celebrations in China. Certainly, the golden glow creates a festive atmosphere.
Renga: ………..
Kafka: Chief-chan, is that the last dish? The drinks have already been brought over.
Chief: Yup. All that’s left is the cake! Yuki-nii is doing a final inspection on it.
Shuumai: Woof. Woof, woof.
Renga: What’s going on?”
Renga: Chief and Yukikaze brought me to the living room all of sudden, sat me down on the sofa with Shuumai, and now a party’s starting!?
Ten: Renga-san, looking good~ That “Today’s protag” sash suits you.
Renga: Hey, Ten! Don’t tell me… No, there’s no doubt!
Ten: That’s right~. Everyone’s been working hard all night to celebrate your birthday, Renga-san.
Ten: Your manager did us a favor and freed up your schedule for today. Man, everyone’s going at it.
Renga: My manager was in on it…! I had no idea at all…
Renga: (Just when I thought I wouldn’t be able to celebrate today because of work…! So this is what my manager meant with the “leading role only I can play!”)
Renga: That means… all this food and decorations are for me?
Toi: Need to align them by height a bit better… there. Acrylic stands and Uchiwa fans go over here…
Renga: …Hm? What is Toi doing?
Kafka: Making a shrine. It's a custom among fans who want to do something extravagant for their favorite celebrity's birthday, and Toi can relate all too well.
Kafka: Hand-making goods and amassing official ones... He’s been arranging merch and fan letters that arrived at your office since morning.
Renga: Since morning!? Then I should he…!
Liguang: Hold it.
Renga: Uwah! What’s wrong with you, Liguang, pushing me onto the sofa all of sudden!
Linguang: Stop messing around and sit down like a guest of honor should. It pisses me off to look at you.
Renga: You, you didn’t have to put it that way!
Shuumai: Woof!
Renga: …Are you saying I should sit down too, Shuumai?
Shuumai: Woofwoof!
Renga: …! I, I see. Got it.
Renga: (Since I’m playing a role no one else can do, I should act the part… everyone's be happier that way, right?)
Renga: …
Toi: Whew… Is this the last one?
Toi: Ah? There’s still one box left! I need to open it quickly!
Renga: That’s it, I can’t do it anymore!
Renga: Toi! Let me give you a hand!
Liguang: Tsk.
Ten: My, my.
Yukikaze: Sorry to keep you waiting. Please, give it up for the “Golden Sunrise Celeb Rose Cake”.
Kafka: We’re all finished here, what about you?
Toi: All done! Thanks to Renga-san, we’ve completed the shrine!
Chief: Then, let’s get the party started!
Chief: Renga-kun.
HAMA Tours: Happy Birthday!
Renga: Tha…thank you.
Ten: Here, for you. It’s a dog toy. Go nuts and play with Shuumai until it breaks.
Nagi: I chose shears for pruning roses. Feel free to ask for gardening advice anytime.
Yukikaze: My present is a travel bag. It has a large capacity and many pockets, so it can fit plenty of snacks, tissues and the like. I hope it comes in handy for both studio and location shooting.
Renga: (All of these presents have so much feeling behind them. I can tell how much they thought of me when choosing these.)
Yukikaze: …Is someone at the door?
Toi: Ah… I’ll get it!
Toi: Uwah!?
Muneuji: There was a huge noise.
Renga: What happened, Toi?
Toi: We’ve a p…problem! The gift box got stuck in the door!
Courier: A parcel for Nishizono-sama. Please sign here.
Kafka: With this volume, it can hardly be called a present, can it? It’s more like a shipment of goods for a sales event.
Nagi: The door is creaking. Better use the front entrance.
Yukikaze: It’s from Renga’s father. The note says “To Renga, and the HAMA Tours employees who always look after my son.”
Yukikaze: What a kind parent.
Chief: Amazing, Renga-kun! You received such a huge present!
Renga: Well, I guess? Once you get on my level, that's normal…
Toi: I wonder if I can carry it somehow…
Renga: Hey, Toi! Don’t try to carry it alone!
Ten: Is it okay for today’s protag to be such a busy bee?
Liguang: Tsk, he doesn’t realize he’s just causing extra headaches on the organizers’ side.
(the Live 2D animations (wordlessly) show that Renga tries to help Toi, starts shaking, probably because he can't handle the weight, but Yukikaze and Nagi catch and stabilize him)
Chief: Ahaha… Isn’t that just like him, though?
Part 2
Renga: Nom, nom… The cake Ushio made is really tasty….
Renga: I feel like I’ve heard enough “congratulations” today to last me a lifetime.
Renga: The birthday party was fun, too.
(flashback)
Nanaki: Then, it’s a promise. On our next day off?
Renga: Ah, yeah. Thanks for the invite, Nanaki. Can’t wait for the live soccer match.
Nanaki: I’m glad you’re on board. I have two replica uniforms, so let's wear them when we go.
Nanaki: Sunglasses will be a must for you, though… It’d be something else if people realized you’re at the venue, Nishizono-san.
Shuumai: Woofwoof, woof!
Renga: What’s up, Shuumai, you want to go, too?
Renga: Too bad, you can’t enter the stadium. Cheer up, I’ll toss you the ball I got from Ten…
Yachiyo: R-R-R-Renga-san! Renga-sa-!
Yachiyo: Uwa-!?
*sound of things falling over*
Nanaki: He fell head first into a cardboard box…
Renga: Yachiyo, you alright?
Yachiyo: S-sorry! I tried, but I couldn’t pull the brakes fast enough!
Renga: Why’re you in such a hurry?
Yachiyo: W-w-well, there was a letter for Renga-san left at the door, so I wanted to deliver it…
Renga: A postcard? Wonder who sent it…
Renga: (Happy Birthday to the both of us)
Renga: …!
Renga: I see. Thanks for bringing it to me.
(flashback ends)
Renga: It was a good day.
Renga: Who’s it?
Kinari: Nishizono-sama, excuse me for bothering you during your rest.
Kinari: I have been designated as your gift-giver as a part of the Random Gift System.
Renga: I-it’s time!
Renga: Much appreciated. Well, come in.
Kinari: Understood. Then, if you would accept this item.
Renga: A rose shaped… earring?
Kinari: After receiving the order, I discovered it while searching for a gift that would be suitable for Nishizono-sama.
Kinari: The initial search returned 27506 results. Subsequently, the list was narrowed down to 18549 options.
Kinari: I’ve heard from the Master that Nishizono-sama is partial to roses, which is why I’ve chosen this accessory.
Renga: You also put lots of thought into it. I really appreciate that.
Kinari: Happy Birthday, Nishizono-sama. May you be loved by many people from now on, as well.
Renga: I-idiot! That much is a given!
Renga: After all… After all, I’m Nishizono Renga!
Renga: (Up until now, I’ve always tried to act in a way that’d befit [Nishizono Renga])
Renga: But today is a little different than usual. I feel like they’re also celebrating [me]).
Renga: I’m glad I could stay here.
Staff: Time for a commercial!
MC: Renga-kun, wasn’t it your birthday the other day? Congrats.
Renga: Yeah, thanks.
MC: I’ve been wondering, are these earrings something you brought from home? They look great on you!
Renga: Right? It’s because they were chosen by an important friend… as a gift that suits me best!
You can read my translations of the Mayors and Yachiyo's voice lines for Renga's birthday here!
Translation notes:
The card story title: ここにいらえる今日を, is cut off: it's missing a verb that should go after を, so the information what is exactly done with/about this day (ここにいらえる is modifying, or describing what kind of "today" it is, instead). This is possibly to make it more ambiguous in meaning and slightly foreboding. You could put fill the blank in different ways, but since there's no clear indication and the difference in sentence structure would place the missing verb at the beginning, I decided to leave it out altogether to avoid further confusion.
Some possible ways to complete the title would be, for example: to celebrate, to cherish, to remember; or it could also be a toast, if you added 祝して、乾杯 at the end, as in "Cheers to today"
Renga's manager: As far as I know their gender isn't known, so I tried to avoid personal pronouns.
Renga shrine: Japanese fans are known for their extravagance while practicing this custom, such as renting a whole studio room and lining up hundreds of items, so I took some liberties with Kafka's first line to emphasize that - he only mentions fans who "want to celebrate" and that doesn't really relay the scale of what seems to have been going on, what with Toi having multiple boxes of stuff prepared.

Manu Keu Renga, the bird spirit [Rapa Nui mythology]
Traditional body paints play a role in the culture and religion of the native people of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Though several different kinds of paint were (and are) used, the pigments made from the pua plant stand out because of a local legend attached to them.
Rapa Nui tradition claims that one day, the great spirit Manu Keu Renga descended from the sky and landed in Te Pito o te Henua. Not much is known about his appearance, save for the fact that he had feathers and wings like a bird. On his back, he carried a wooden grate, which was tied to his neck.
The spirit came from Hiva, a legendary landmass that supposedly existed to the northwest of Easter Island. According to legend, it sunk into the ocean long ago.Manu Keu Renga taught the people how to shred pua plants on a grate over a hollow stone, so that the fluids are caught into the the hole of the rock, and how to make durable paint with these pigments.
The people were grateful and used this new paint to decorate their clothes and their bodies.
For example, a 'nua mahute' was a type of cloak traditionally made by women and coloured with pua paint.
Satisfied with the gift he had bestowed upon mankind, Manu Keu Renga left, and the people of Rapa Nui never saw him again.

{18Trip} The 18 Questions Corner - Hachinoya Nagi
This is a translation for the 18 questions interview uploaded on the official Youtube channel. I suggest to read this translation alongside it!
Note: P stands for "Player", this series has a voiced male & female character for the player. The interviews are conducted by the male player in this case.
TL note:
Nagi makes a pun on the particla ~ka, with how the sound for crows cawing in Japanese is kaa kaa-! Joke is more or less the same in English in essence, just the target of the punification has been changed.
P: 18 questions for the Tourism Ward Mayors! We look forward to your cooperation!
Kuguri: Mhm, I’ll be in your care.
What’s your name?
Hachinoya Nagi
How old are you?
20 years old.
Tell us about your occupation!
Flower Laundry’s shopkeeper. Flowers and laundry needs are welcomed at my store.
What’s the first thing you do when waking up in the morning?
Checking the weather… yeah.
Anything you’re particular about with lunch?
I’ll eat anything… food is important.
What pops up in your mind when it comes to “evening”?
The cawing crows… makes me go, it’s cawlready evening-? …Just kidding.
What’s your routine before bed?
Listening to the radio.
Where do you start with washing your body?
…My collarbone??
What’s essential when leaving for a trip?
Flowers… I think.
What do you check before traveling somewhere?
Right… places where the view and air is clean.
What’s your favorite method of transportation for traveling?
This isn’t only limited to traveling, but my motorbike is my partner.
What’s one item you’d bring to a deserted island?
A radio… would be nice to get a signal.
Please give us some fanservice!
✧・゚: *Welcome to HAMA, here’s a big hug from the bottom of my heart on the house. *:・゚✧… I guess along these lines.
Who’s someone you’d lean on for support?
I am the Night Squad’s leader, so I guess the other Squad leaders… Morning’s Renga, Noon’s Akuta, and Evening’s Raito-san. I can rely on all of them.
Who would you swap bodies with for a day?
Evening Squad’s Tao… maybe.
What would you want to do as them?
Become good at games… and try getting that dub.
Pass on a message to your roommates!
Yodaka-san, you’re such a kind, considerate and capable adult that it’s admirable. Though you fall asleep before I even realize that…
Tell us from the heart, what’s a “journey” to you?
I’m not the kind of person that goes out traveling to begin with… so, it’s a “challenge” I guess.
P: Thank you, those were all 18 questions!
Nagi: That was fun. Appreciate your efforts.
Nagi: HAMA’s 16th Ward Mayor, Hachinoya Nagi. Whenever you want flowers, or want to wash your laundry, my Flower Laundry’s door is always open.

☀️ the simple sunset date ☀️
OKAY SO renga in my mind represent a sunset. Calm, and colourful. Where the sun slowly come together. Langa is the moon to Reki’s sun, and they make each others day and night shine that much brighter!! I imagine Reki’s bad days turn into rain (like the scene where they fight) and Langa’s bad days are cloudy nights when nothing is lit by the moon.
ANYWAYS BSVHSHBBHHB my point is, I imagine they love spending sunsets together, just skating around Okinawa and celebrating how much they love one another in little ways- like how Reki would cheer on Langa learning a new move, or Langa would catch Reki when he stumbles around a corner they’re not too familiar with.
This was made for a dtiys on my instagram! live now if you’re interested in entering! https://www.instagram.com/p/CnIRbxPKPn4/

I am an adult, queer, trans person of color and my identity informs my media analysis.
I focus on female characters, women's relationships and queer/trans desire. Not interested in a lot of popular canon ships.
I do not appreciate purity discourse on my blog unless I encourage a conversation on my own terms. I am a perfectly capable person with two degrees in literature and arts and I can analyse my own media, thank you very much.
I will reblog criticism even on my favourite fandoms. if you don't want that, best not follow.
I love seeing butches, mascs and gnc lesbians and bisexuals in media. I interpret several characters from popular media as butch lesbians and speak about butchphobia. Please do not follow if you are a butchphobe.
Bisexuals do not owe you explanation for using butch and femme. Do not speak over bisexuals and gatekeep queer history.
I like toxic media, dark romance and evil female characters. In particular, I LOVE toxic yuri but there are hard boundaries for me.
There are some ships I actively dislike, excluding the obvious pedo/incest/taboo ones so if you like any of the below, best steer clear:
akiangel, fiend harem, zennezu, giyushino, sanegiyu, akaren, eremika, mobuhan, pikuhan, aruannie, lawlightmane, kataang, maiko, zukka, zukki, gojohime, yutamaki, tokka

you know the brainrot is bad when i start designing maplestory sprites for characters. anyway this is renga nishizono i kept it pretty simple i just wanted to make him in the pixel art style. i feel like he'd probably play as angelic buster or something flashy though (which is gender locked as we all know so he has a sub main as f/p mage that he has designed to look like himself).
#shay speaks#18trip#renga nishizono#maplestory#i still need to do the rest of my enstars sprites but i wanted to make renga so so bad...#the worst part was finding the hair t-t i am not versed in hair names

🎇SANREMO 2024 - PARTE 2🎇
youtube
Loredana Bertè - Pazza
Ha già vinto ♥
youtube
Geolier - I P’ ME, TU P’ TE
youtube
The Kolors - UN RAGAZZO UNA RAGAZZA
L'ho già imparata a memoria, era inevitabile
youtube
Angelina Mango - La noia
Lei è in gamba, che le vuoi dire. Il pezzo per ora è un ni, magari poi mi recupera
youtube
Il Volo - Capolavoro
Quest'anno i first dance ai matrimoni saranno roba loro, Ed Sheeran ti devi spaventare
youtube
BigMama - La rabbia non ti basta
Premio della Critica Mia Martini?
youtube

Sanremo comes to an end tonight. I’ll confess, I haven’t been watching each night, but I have taken the time to check out all the competing songs, and here’s my ranking:
Mahmood – Tuta gold
Ricchi e Poveri – Ma non tutta la vita
Alfa – Vai!
La Sad – Autodistruttivo
Clara – Diamanti grezzi
Dargen D’Amico – Onda alta
Il Tre – Fragili
Annalisa – Sinceramente
Loredana Bertè – Pazza
BigMama – La rabbia non ti basta
Irama – Tu no
Sangiovanni – Finiscimi
The Kolors – Un ragazzo, una ragazza
Emma – Apnea
Fiorella Mannoia – Mariposa
Geolier – I’ p’ me, tu p’ te
Angelina Mango – La noia
Fred De Palma – Il cielo non ci vuole
Renga & Nek – Pazzo di te
Ghali – Casa mia
Maninni – Spettacolare
Diodato – Ti muovi
Mr. Rain – Due altalene
Bnkr44 – Governo punk
Il Volo – Capolavoro
Alessandra Amoroso – Fino a qui
Santi Francesi – L’amore in bocca
Rose Villain – Click Boom!
Gazzelle – Tutto qui
Negramaro – Ricominciamo tutto
Firstly, Mahmood was far and away my clear standout with Tuta gold. There’s something so effortlessly catchy about Mahmood’s style, and his distinct voice and charisma as a performer really set him apart for me. I like how it uses the little phone tone sound in the chorus as a hook and also to tie into the lyrics of the song. In fact, the song as a whole is really well produced, and I honestly want to listen to it over and over.
That said, there are still plenty of other great entries here. I found Ricchi e Poveri’s performance very memorable with them wrapped in the giant bow at the start, and the track itself is fun and exciting, and really benefits from the Sanremo orchestra, with all those violins going at the start. Vai! was another song I distinctly remembered after just one listen, with that little whoo-hoo and accompanying whistle making for a very catchy hook. I really enjoy the energy of the song and how uplifting it sounds. Autodistruttivo is a solid rock song, the ‘oh-ooh-oh’s might be a little generic but the overall punchy sound of the song is great, and I like La Sad’s distinctive look. I also really like Diamanti grezzi, it’s another song I think is really well produced, I especially like how the beat sounds in the pre-chorus.
If Mahmood hadn’t already been to Eurovision twice in the last past five years, he’d definitely be my pick to go. In fact, I like Tuta gold enough that I probably would be excited to see him in this year’s Eurovision too, but I’d also be very happy to see Italy send someone else for a change. As usual they’ve got plenty of options – I tended to prefer the upbeat, energetic songs over the ballads this year, but Italy will likely do well with just about any of these songs just thinking about Eurovision. Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to stay up tonight to find out the winner, but I am excited to find out tomorrow who they’re going to send!
#eurovision#esc2024#nf ranking#Italy#I really wanted to get this out before UMK and Supernova started but hey this is how it goes#Sanremo is great but man it being all in one week does not leave you with much time to digest all the songs before the final#it doesn't help that it's 6 nations season#I spent the day watching rugby and while I had this ranking roughly outlined yesterday#I only finished it after the Wales v England match#I'm also very salty about the result of the Scotland v France match#so I'm hoping that the national finals tonight will raise my spirits a bit
