Magical Innovators & Artisans: The Enchanting Entrepreneurs Shaping Our Wizarding World
Ladies, gents, and magical creatures of all kinds, gather 'round! The wizarding world is experiencing a renaissance in the traditional arts and crafts, and we're here to guide you through the enchanting labyrinth of our community's most talented artisans. These wizards and witches are the heart and soul of our magical heritage, keeping the ancient crafts alive and well, while also breathing new life into them. So, let's dive in and discover the remarkable individuals who are weaving their magic into every corner of our world.
First up, we have the exceptional wandmaker, Evelyn Willowbrook, whose hand-carved wands are a true testament to the artistry and dedication of our ancestors. Willowbrook, a protégé of the esteemed Ollivander family, has taken the wandmaking world by storm with her exquisite craftsmanship and innovative designs. Her wands have been praised by many, including Professor Fergus Flitwick, Head of the Department of Magical Arts at the Wizarding Academy of Higher Education, who claimed, "Willowbrook's wands are nothing short of revolutionary, and her understanding of the magical properties of wandmaking is unparalleled" (The Art of Wandlore, 1981). In a recent interview with Wand World Weekly, Willowbrook revealed her secret to success: "It's all about understanding the unique relationship between the wand's core, wood, and the wizard it chooses. A harmonious bond makes all the difference in the world" (Wand World Weekly, February 1982). Evelyn Willowbrook, we tip our hats to your magical mastery!
Next on our list is the bewitching tapestry weaver, Gideon Threadgild. Combining centuries-old techniques with modern magical innovations, Threadgild's tapestries are not only visually stunning but also imbued with enchantments that bring his creations to life. In a feature story by Magical Home and Hearth, Threadgild shared his inspiration for his mesmerising work: "I believe that every home should be a sanctuary filled with magic, and my tapestries are an extension of that belief" (Magical Home and Hearth, January 1982). One of Threadgild's loyal customers, Winifred Whisp, shared her experience: "When I first laid eyes on Gideon's tapestries, I was immediately transported to another world. The colours, the details, the enchantments—it was as if I was witnessing the very essence of magic itself" (personal communication, February 24, 1982). Gideon Threadgild, your enchanting artistry has left us spellbound!
But it's not just wands and tapestries stealing the spotlight! Fashion-forward witches and wizards are flocking to Penelope Periwinkle's bespoke robe atelier, where she crafts the most exquisite garments using ancient magical tailoring techniques. As mentioned in the latest issue of Wizarding Vogue, Periwinkle's creations are "the epitome of elegance and enchantment, seamlessly blending tradition and innovation to create garments that are both timeless and trendsetting" (Wizarding Vogue, March 1982). An enchanted customer, Beatrice Bagshot, raved about her experience with Periwinkle's designs: "I attended a gala wearing one of Penelope's robes, and the compliments never ceased! It was as if I was wearing a living piece of art that captured the essence of my magical soul" (personal communication, February 28, 1982). Penelope Periwinkle, your designs are truly bewitching!
And last but not least, let's not forget the enigmatic potion master, Morgana Moonshade. Using age-old recipes handed down through generations, Moonshade has breathed new life into the art of potion-making. Her mysterious potions, with their captivating aromas and mesmerising effects, have taken the wizarding world by storm. In an exclusive interview with Potion Master's Journal, Moonshade shed some light on her creative process: "I strive to honour the wisdom of our ancestors while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in potion-making" (Potion Master's Journal, December 1981). Potion enthusiast and author, Edgar Nightshade, had this to say about Moonshade's concoctions: "Morgana's potions are like liquid magic, each sip revealing new layers of depth and complexity. Her work is a testament to the endless possibilities of potion-making" (personal communication, March 2, 1982). Morgana Moonshade, you've concocted a magical elixir for success!
These dedicated artisans are not only preserving our rich magical heritage but also expanding and enriching it with their creativity and innovation. Your incredible work not only showcases the beauty of our magical past but also paves the way for a vibrant and enchanting future. To our dear readers, we encourage you to explore and support these talented individuals who are keeping the magic of traditional arts and crafts alive.
So, get out there and discover the wonders of hand-carved wands, captivating tapestries, enchanting garments, and spellbinding potions for yourselves! You never know, you might just find a hidden gem that will bring an extra touch of magic to your life.
In the words of the renowned magical historian, Archibald Travers: "The magic of our world is a living, breathing entity, constantly evolving and adapting. It is up to us to nurture and cherish it, to ensure that our ancient crafts and traditions continue to thrive in the modern age" (The Legacy of Magical Arts, 1978). Let's celebrate and support the artists who are the guardians of our magical heritage, and in doing so, let's create an even more enchanting world for future generations to enjoy.
That's all for now, folks! Keep your wands at the ready for more spellbinding stories and updates from your favourite magical magazine. Remember, the world of magic is ever-changing, and we're here to keep you in the loop. Stay tuned, and as always, let the magic guide you!

7x12 “Carnal Knowledge”
His own voice was husky now, and when I turned back to him, I saw that tears stood in his eyes. With an incoherent noise, I flung myself into his arms and clung to him, making foolish hiccuping sobs. He held me tight, his breath warm on the top of my head, and when I stopped at last, he put me away a little and cupped my face in his hands.
“I have loved ye since I saw you, Sassenach,”
he said very quietly, holding my eyes with his own, bloodshot and lined with tiredness but very blue.
“I will love ye forever.
It doesna matter if ye sleep with the whole English army—well, no,” he corrected himself, “it would matter, but it wouldna stop me loving you.” “I didn’t think it would.” I sniffed and he pulled a handkerchief from his sleeve and handed it to me. It was worn white cambric and had the initial “P” embroidered awkwardly in one corner in blue thread. I couldn’t imagine where he’d got such a thing but didn’t bother asking, under the circumstances. The bench was not very large, and his knee was within an inch or two of mine. He didn’t touch me again, though, and my heart rate was beginning to speed up noticeably. He meant it, about loving me, but that didn’t mean the next while was going to be pleasant. “It was my impression that he told me because he was sure that you would tell me,” he said carefully. “So I would have,” I said promptly, wiping my nose. “Though I might possibly have waited ’til you’d got home, had a bath, and been fed supper. If there’s one thing I know about men, it’s that you don’t break things like this to them on an empty stomach. When did you last eat?”
“This morning. Sausages. Dinna be changing the subject.” His voice was level, but there was a good deal of feeling bubbling under it; he might as well have been a pan of simmering milk. One extra degree of heat and there’d be an eruption and scorched milk all over the stove. “I understand, but I want—I need—to know what happened.” “You understand?” I echoed, sounding surprised even to my own ears. I hoped he did understand, but his manner was more than a little at odds with his words. My hands were no longer cold; they were starting to sweat, and I gripped the skirt over my knees, heedless of mud stains. “Well, I dinna like it,” he said, not quite between clenched teeth. “But I understand it.” “You do?” “I do,” he said, eyeing me. “Ye both thought I was dead. And I ken what ye’re like when you’re drunk, Sassenach.” I slapped him, so fast and so hard that he hadn’t time to duck and lurched back from the impact. “You—you—” I said, unable to articulate anything bad enough to suit the violence of my feelings. “How bloody dare you!” He touched his cheek gingerly. His mouth was twitching. “I . . . uh . . . didna quite mean that the way it sounded, Sassenach,” he said. “Besides, am I no the aggrieved party here?” “No, you bloody aren’t!” I snapped. “You go off and get—get drowned, and leave me all alone in the m-midst of spies and s-soldiers and with children—you and Fergus both, you bastards! Leave me and Marsali to-to—” I was so choked with emotion that I couldn’t go on. I was damned if I’d cry, though, damned if I’d cry any more in front of him. He reached out carefully and took my hand again. I let him, and let him draw me closer, close enough to see the faint dusting of his beard stubble, to smell the road dust and dried sweat in his clothes, to feel the radiant heat from his body. I sat quivering, making small huffing sounds in lieu of speech. He ignored this, spreading my fingers out between his own, gently stroking the palm of my hand with a large, callused thumb. “I didna mean to imply that I think ye a drunkard, Sassenach,” he said, making an obvious effort to be conciliatory. “It’s only that ye think wi’ your body, Claire; ye always have.” With a tremendous effort of my own, I found words. “So I’m a—a—what are you calling me now? A loose woman? A trollop? A strumpet? And you think that’s better than calling me a drunkard?!?” He gave a small snort of what might have been amusement. I yanked at my hand, but he wouldn’t let go. “I said what I meant, Sassenach,” he said, tightening his grip on my hand, and augmenting it with another hand on my forearm, preventing me from rising. “Ye think wi’ your body. It’s what makes ye a surgeon, no?” “I—oh.” Overcoming my dudgeon momentarily, I was obliged to admit that there was something in this observation. “Possibly,” I said stiffly, looking away from him. “But I don’t think that’s what you meant.” “Not entirely, no.” There was a very slight edge to his voice again, but I wouldn’t meet his eyes. “Listen to me.” I sat stubbornly silent for a moment, but he simply held on, and I knew that he was more stubborn by nature than I could be if I worked at it for a hundred years. I was going to hear what he had to say—and I was going to tell him what he wanted to hear—whether I liked it or not. “I’m listening,” I said. He drew breath and relaxed a little but didn’t lessen his grip. “I’ve taken ye to bed a thousand times at least, Sassenach,” he said mildly. “Did ye think I wasna paying attention?” “Two or three thousand at least,” I said, in the interests of strict accuracy, staring at the digging knife I’d dropped on the ground. “And no.” “Well, then. I ken what ye’re like in bed. And I see—all too well,” he added, his mouth compressing momentarily, “—how this likely was.”
“No, you bloody don’t,” I said warmly. He made another Scottish noise, this one indicating hesitation. “I do,” he said, but carefully. “When I lost ye, after Culloden—I kent ye weren’t dead, but that made it all the worse, if ye ask me . . . eh?” I had made a noise of my own but gestured briefly at him to go on. “I told ye about Mary MacNab, aye? How she came to me, in the cave?” “Several years after the fact,” I said rather coldly. “But, yes, you did get round to it eventually.” I gave him a look. “I certainly didn’t blame you for that—and I didn’t ask you for the gory details, either.” “No, ye didn’t,” he admitted. He rubbed the bridge of his nose with a knuckle. “Maybe ye weren’t jealous. I am.” He hesitated. “I’d tell ye, though—how it was—if ye wanted to know.” I looked at him, biting my lip dubiously. Did I want to know? If I didn’t—and I wasn’t at all sure whether I did or not—would he take that as evidence that I didn’t care? And I was quite conscious of that brief “I am.” I took a deep breath, accepting the implied bargain. “Tell me,” I said. “How it was.” Now he did look away, and I saw his throat move as he swallowed. “It . . . was tender,” he said quietly, after a moment. “Sad.” “Sad,” I echoed. “How?” He didn’t look up but kept his eyes fixed on the flowers, following the movements of a big black bumblebee among the furled blooms. “Both of us mourning things that were lost,” he said slowly, brows drawn down in thought. “She said she meant to keep ye alive for me, to let me . . . to let me imagine it was you, I suppose she meant.” “Didn’t work quite that way?” “No.” He looked up then, straight on, and his eyes went through me like a rapier through a scarecrow. “There couldna be anyone like you.” It wasn’t said with an air of compliment, more one of flat finality—or, even, of resentment. I lifted a shoulder briefly. There wasn’t much response I could make. “And?” He sighed and looked back at his knotted hands. He was squeezing the fingers of his narrowed right hand with his left, as though to remind himself of the missing finger. “It was quiet,” he said to his thumb. “We didna talk, really, not once we’d . . . begun.” He closed his eyes, and I wondered, with a small twinge of curiosity, just what he saw. I was surprised to realize that curiosity was all I felt—with, perhaps, pity for them. I’d seen the cave in which they’d made love, a cold granite tomb, and I knew how desperate the state of things had been in the Highlands then. Just the promise of a little human warmth . . . “Both of us mourning things that were lost,” he’d said. “It was just the once. It didna last very long; I—it had been a long time,” he said, and a faint flush showed across his cheekbones. “But . . . I needed it, verra much. She held me after, and . . . I needed that more. I fell asleep in her arms; she was gone when I woke. But I carried the warmth of her with me. For a long time,” he said very softly. That gave me a quite unexpected stab of jealousy, and I straightened a little, fighting it back with clenched hands. He sensed it and turned his head toward me. He’d felt that flame ignite—and had one to match it. “And you?” he said, giving me a hard, direct look. “It wasn’t tender,” I said with an edge. “And it wasn’t sad. It should have been. When he came into my room and said he wouldn’t mourn you alone, and we talked, then I got up and went to him, expecting—if I had so much as an expectation; I don’t think I had any conscious thoughts. . . .” “No?” He matched my edge with his own. “Blind drunk, were ye?” “Yes, I bloody was, and so was he.” I knew what he was thinking; he wasn’t making any effort to hide it, and I had a sudden, vivid recollection of sitting with him in the corner of
a tavern in Cross Creek, his taking my face suddenly between his hands and kissing me, and the warm sweetness of wine passing from his mouth to mine. I sprang to my feet and slapped my hand on the bench. “Yes, I bloody was!” I said again, furious. “I was drunk every damned day since I heard you were dead.” He drew a deep, deep breath, and I saw his eyes fix on his hands, clenched on his knees. He let it out very slowly. “And what did he give ye, then?” “Something to hit,” I said. “At least to begin with.” He looked up at me, startled. “Ye hit him?” “No, I hit you,” I snapped. My fist had curled, without my realization, clenched against my thigh. I remembered that first blow, a blind, frenzied punch into unwary flesh, all the force of my grief behind it. The flex of recoil that took away the sensation of warmth for an instant, brought it back with a smash that flung me onto the dressing table, borne down by a man’s weight, his grip tight on my wrists, and me screaming in fury. I didn’t remember the specifics of what came next—or, rather, I recalled certain things very vividly but had no idea of the order in which they happened. “It was a blur,” people say. What they really mean is the impossibility of anyone truly entering such an experience from outside, the futility of explanation. “Mary MacNab,” I said abruptly. “She gave you . . . tenderness, you said. There should be a word for what this was, what John gave me, but I haven’t thought of it yet.” I needed a word that might convey, encapsulate. “Violence,” I said. “That was part of it.” Jamie stiffened and gave me a narrow look. I knew what he was thinking and shook my head. “Not that. I was numb—deliberately numb, because I couldn’t bear to feel. He could; he had more courage than I did. And he made me feel it, too. That’s why I hit him.” I’d been numb, and John had ripped off the dressing of denial, the wrappings of the small daily necessities that kept me upright and functioning; his physical presence had torn away the bandages of grief and showed what lay below: myself, bloody and unhealed. I felt the air thick in my throat, damp and hot and itching on my skin. And finally I found the word. “Triage,” I said abruptly. “Under the numbness, I was . . . raw. Bloody. Skinned. You do triage, you . . . stop the bleeding first. You stop it. You stop it, or the patient dies. He stopped it.” He’d stopped it by slapping his own grief, his own fury, over the welling blood of mine. Two wounds, pressed together, blood still flowing freely—but no longer lost and draining, flowing instead into another body, and the other’s blood into mine, hot, searing, not welcome—but life. Jamie said something under his breath in Gaelic. I didn’t catch most of the words. He sat with his head bent, elbows on his knees and head in his hands, and breathed audibly. After a moment, I sat back down beside him and breathed, too. The cicadas grew louder, an urgent buzz that drowned out the rush of water and the rustling of leaves, humming in my bones.

Stuff We Know About Campbell Bain (From Both the Show and the Play)
Since the play has some things that clash/contradict with the show, things I've taken from the SHOW will be marked (S) and the PLAY (P).
- (P) Campbell comes from a small place (Hector calls it "dead wee") called Invergellen, which is in the middle of nowhere. There are not a lot of job options, but there does seem to be some kind of tourism industry - the only job options Campbell can list are "sheep", "fish" and "tourists".
- (P) Campbell's dad lies about where Campbell is, telling people that he's off doing a youth volunteer placement in Africa. He even makes Campbell lie to his friends about it, too. Campbell says it's because he doesn't want anybody in Invergellen finding out. He also says his dad is reluctant to visit too often, out of fear that people will grow suspicious of his trips to Glasgow.
- (P) Campbell has siblings: an older brother and an older sister. His brother owns his own building company, and his sister works in Forestry - possibly for the government? Regardless, Campbell views his siblings as very successful and compares himself to them. He also believes that his dad compares him to them, and calls himself a "loser" who's "never gonnae amount to anything".
- (S) Despite having many past jobs and dreams he was seemingly dead set on achieving, Campbell states that he's never been good at anything other than the radio. He includes flirting with/getting girls in the things he's bad at. He also only learnt guitar to impress said girls, but must have failed pretty miserably based on his comment.
- (S) Before Campbell came to St. Judes, things must have been hard at home/school. Campbell's dad says that his mother is so worked up about the whole thing that she's had to take medicine, and (P) Campbell says that his dad says he "doesn't want to put (Campbell's aunt) through what (Campbell) put (Campbell's dad) through".
- (P) Campbell is excited when his dad is coming, and he is disappointed with him constantly letting him down/not showing up. I believe that Campbell's parents do love him and do TRY to understand him, but simply don't, and end up thinking/acting selfishly instead. They want to help but do not understand their son, and therefore do not give him the support he needs. Whatever Campbell "put them through" was likely due to them not understanding him or knowing how to react to his condition, or the education system and teachers also struggling to understand and accommodate for his needs.
I assume worry was also a big part of what he "put them through", but the line about Campbell's auntie still rubs me the wrong way.
- (S/P) Campbell's dad believes the radio is just another one of Campbell's "loony ideas" and thinks he is manic. Campbell (P) seems disappointed by this, and says he thought he'd be proud of him. Which is just kind of heartbreaking.
- (P) Campbell has to be wrestled by Stuart as he screams at his dad, the doctor and then eventually Stuart, too, to "fuck off". Which is very sad but also kind of funny because Stuart deserves that. This is after he finds out he has to go back to Invergellen (before he then fakes the manic episode).
- (P) Campbell believed he was the greatest comedian in Britain at one point and even went to the BBC in Glasgow to tell them. They were less eager to give him a chance and ended up calling the police on him. He says it's "kind of how" he "ended up" in St. Judes, which adds a bit of an extra layer onto (S) the police being called on him, Fergus and Rosalie when they snuck out.
There's probably, definitely more that I've forgotten to mention, but there's what I've got. There's obviously also the big difference between the show and the play with Perth/Invergellen, which makes some things canon only in the play and others only canon in the show. I'm totally choosing to take Campbell's siblings from the play and accept them as canon all around though,,, and the extra family details we get too.
OK thats all, stay proud loonies

Blackcrowing's Master Reading List
Tumblr media
I have created a dropbox with pdfs I have gathered over the years, I have done my best to only allow access to documents which I found openly available through sites like JSTOR, Archive.org, or other educational resources with papers available for download.
That being said I ALSO recommend (I obviously have not read all of these but they are either in my library or I intend to add them)

A Guide to Ogam Divination, Marissa Hegarty (I'm leaving this on my list because I want to support independent authors. However, if you have already read Weaving Word Wisdom this book is unlikely to further enhance your understanding of ogam in a divination capacity)
The Book of the Great Queen, Morpheus Ravenna
Litany of The Morrígna, Morpheus Ravenna
Celtic Visions, Caitlín Matthews
Harp, Club & Calderon, Edited by Lora O'Brien and Morpheus Ravenna

Note
i would kill for another part to the changeling ghost/selkie soap fic. I just want ghost to rip fergus’s throat out
Here you go!! I'm going to put the rest of the story on ao3 soon for ease but I couldn't post anything earlier?? Don't know if it was down or just my internet but :P
Ghost came back inside, doing his best to look angry. It must’ve been a little too convincing because all of them seemed to flinch back from him.
“Soap.”
He really did jump up. Ghost wouldn’t tease him for it, give the circumstances, but he did think it was funny. He turned and walked to the spare bedroom they were staying in, hearing Soap’s heavier footsteps.
“How you can be so much shorter than me and still be louder… it’s astounding.” He turned to look at him once they were safely inside. He pinned Soap to the door and lifted his mask to kiss him. His hands rose up to cup his face gently.
Soap relaxed after a moment. “Was worried you were actually mad at me for a second…”
“No! Course not! Don’t wo-” Ghost cut himself off, rethinking his words. “You… Fuck this is hard.”
Soap tilted his head. “What’s hard?”
“Trying not to accidentally give you any orders. Want you clear headed and normal.”
Soap jumped on him and kissed him harder. “God, you’re perfect.”
“Soap, please stop being impressed by the bare minimum.” Ghost kissed back though, putting his hands on his back. Eventually though, he pushed him away and cupped his face again. “Love, though I wouldn’t mind doing this all day, I did bring you back here for a reason.”
Soap nodded, though he was still trying to chase Ghost’s lips. “What for?”
“We have two days. Technically 46 hours thanks to the time now and when our place leaves to be exact. It’s going to be tight, but we have a mission.”
Soap frowned, trying to figure out what this was. He half expected it to be a weird sex thing, but they hadn’t even had sex yet so it seemed unlikely.
“Okay….”
“I want to find your mom’s coat. Maybe beat up your dad.”
Soap took a deep breath before burying his face in Ghost’s chest. “Oh my God you’re so… you…” He clawed at his shoulders. “Simon Riley you’re doing a lot more than the bare minimum here.”
“Before you were my husband, you were my second in command. If you would’ve told me about this, I would’ve done it anyway.”
“I don’t get it. I don’t get you.”
Ghost shrugged. “I’m a feminist.” He said it with a grin and it managed to get a laugh out of Soap.
“Yeah, I know you are. But still. We’re not even hu-” Soap must’ve realized that saying that to Ghost, a non human, would be a bit wrong.
“I don’t like seeing people being controlled. Least of all innocent people who can’t defend themselves.” Ghost smiled at him and gently stroked his cheek. He followed the scar over his eye gently. “Gorgeous. You know that? Just gorgeous.”
Soap swallowed and held on to him tight. “Simon. You mean this right?”
“You being pretty or that I’m going to find that coat?”
“Both.”
“Yeah. I mean both of them.” He kissed him again. “I promise it to you.”
Soap shook his head and pulled him down. He made some promises of his own that made Ghost turn bright red. Followed by a bite to his shoulder through the fabric. Ghost shivered.
“If I hurry up and find it, do you think we can reschedule our plane?”
“Probably.”
“Thank God.”
Ghost looked at Soap, thinking. “I don’t think just looking is going to work. I’m going to need to get closer to your dad. We’re in a bit of a time crunch. Do you have any ideas?”
Soap shook his head. “He respects tradition. You being the boss kinda stuff and…. Oh. I have an idea but you might not like it.”
Ghost tilted his head to indicate he should continue.
“You’ve been soft with me. Laughing at my teasing and stuff. The way you left and stormed in… He probably thinks you’re mad at me because of it.”
“Yeah… so?”
“Leave some bruises on me.”
Soap wondered if the cold that swept over him was because of Ghost’s glare, an open window or if Ghost secretly had some magic he wasn’t aware of that affected the weather. “I’m not hurting you.”
“It’s for my Mam and I’m asking. Just has to be something easy.”
“Easy. You’re saying I should hurt you. What if I leave hickeys? Would that work?”
“Might…” Soap opened his collar so Ghost could see his throat. “Just… do something okay? I promise I won’t be mad. Won’t hold it against you. No different than the time you shoved me to the ground to get me out of the line of fire. Was bruised then too.”
Ghost hated how right Soap sounded. He grabbed a handful of his hair to force his head a little further back and then bit him rather hard. Soap tensed, having not expected that. He tried not to squirm even when it started to border on pain. Instead he pulled Ghost closer to encourage him.
Ghost pulled away and admired the teeth mark. He also showed where he had put a handprint on Soap’s wrist while he was distracted. “There you go. Think it’ll convince him?”
“Let’s hope so.” Soap smiled at him and followed him outside. He was quick to look demure, holding on to Ghost’s sleeve like a scolded child. How someone could ever hurt someone like Soap was beyond him.
Fergus noticed the bruising. His expression didn’t change though.
Moray called them for dinner, gently touching Soap’s shoulder as she passed. She didn’t meet Ghost’s eyes and Ghost would have to talk to her later. Explain it was not like that. But if she did, she’d probably have to tell Fergus and… they couldn’t have that.
They all ate in silence until Rosy came. Soap’s second sister. She hugged Soap close, glaring at Ghost the entire time. She didn’t really acknowledge him or her father, sitting at her place. A sweet looking lady followed her, sitting right next to her.
“This is my girlfriend.” She stated it like a fact. “Her name is Iris. Please be nice.”
Soap looked surprised but made a motion towards Ghost. “He prefers Ghost.”
Ghost didn’t really react. He was more focused on the mask problem. He could hypothetically lift his mask to eat. But his face would be revealed. It wasn’t like the tea where he could turn away or not lift his mask enough for them to see. They were also in Scotland, they’d all know what Glasgow scars were. They’d probably assume gang related. Which wouldn’t be that far off but not for the reasons they’d think. He also knew he wouldn’t be able to play it as a battle wound. They were clearly on purpose.
Soap noticed and put his hand on his thigh to reassure him. Ghost glanced over and just fully slipped his mask off. He heard Davina’s tiny gasp but he ignored it. His hair was long enough it would cover his ears and everything else about him looked human enough. He started casually eating, not thinking about his start shaped freckles or his scarring. None of it was important.
Soap started eating like there was nothing going on and his family eventually followed suit. Iris started at him for a moment, a little taken back. First time she meets the family and he’s here. It’s a fair reaction.
The food is good. There’s not enough though and he refuses to ask for more or take more than his share. He’s the odd one out here, having a much bigger appetite than the average person. Soap kept his hand on him throughout the meal.
“Ghost, do you cut your own hair?” Rosy asked and Soap hissed at her. Literally. Like a cat. It caught Ghost and Iris off guard.
“Don’t trust people with knives around my face.”
“Yeah, I can see why.”
He respected her a lot. However, he could not let this disrespect slide. “And what’s your excuse for your haircut?”
Her eyes widened and Soap coughed hard, side eyeing him.
“Alright. You’re funny. I’ll give ye that.” Her accent thickened and she was clearly pouting.
Ghost smiled and she tentatively smiled back.
The rest of dinner went without much of a problem. Fergus gave him a nod before leaving the table.
Ghost, mostly on instinct because that’s what he did with his mom, helped gather the plates. Fergus was gone so he didn’t think he had to play the evil human role.
“You need help doing the dishes ma’am?” He looked down at her.
Moray relaxed. “I can just have one of my kids do it.”
“You sure? I don’t mind helping you?”
She blushed. “You’re such a good kid,” Ghost ignored the fact that besides her, he was the oldest in the room, “Fine, I could use the help and they always leave water spots on my dishes.”
All three of her kids immediately made excuses as she rolled her eyes. Ghost smiled at them, looking a tad smug before following her.
Rosy looked at Soap. “Iris knows about the seal thing so let’s cut to the chase. What was that?”
“What was what?”
“One, no way that guy is a human.” Iris butted in.
“Two, he just… changed! His whole personality!”
“Oh. Yeah he and my mom are close. They talk all the time.” Soap sipped his drink.
“He has your coat.”
“Look… you guys can’t say anything. But I gave it willing. I just didn’t want to let Dad know. I like Ghost!”
Davina and Rosy exchanged glances, frowning. “You sure?”
“Yes. He’s given me my coat back multiple times. We’re technically married but we’re taking it slow.”
“It looks like he mauled you.”
Soap turned bright red and touched his throat. “We get handsy!” It’s not that he distrusted his sisters. Not at all. But he was worried they’d say the wrong thing to Mom or Dad and ruin the delicate balance they had going on if they knew what they were doing now. “But he’s a gentleman.”
Rosy frowned. She was never very trusting. He supposed she just did it to protect them. Usually just him.
“Promise. You’ll like him.”
“I doubt it. But I’ll give him a try.”

M E R I C C U P // Bodyguard AU
Merida Dunbroch x Hiccup Horrendous Haddock iii
"You. I like you." Hiccup regards at the girl with a nod of his head. Like he's just made one of the most important decisions of his life. And perhaps he did. When the girl grinned at him, he knew that she was the right one. After all, it wasn't everyday that he saw a kid his age beat down a bunch of other older trainees, then continue their bickering like nothing happened. It also helped that she seemed to glow, almost sunset-like. Or at least that was what he was reminded of when she flashed him her toothy grin. He then turned to his father and, without hesitation, asked "Can she be my bodyguard?" Stoick stared at his ten year old son, then at the other ten year old girl, before shaking his head. "She may be skilled, but she's far too young." "I'll prove to you that I can do it!" She said with such a fierce determination. "And that you'll regret-" "Alright! Why don't you go and show Hiccup the new moves you've been learning?" Fergus interrupted before his daughter could say something wrong. "Losing your touch, old friend? Your trainees were pulverized by the girl." Stoick chuckled as he patted his friend's back." "Actually, she's one of our best. And I'm not saying this just because I'm her dad." "You would risk your daughter in your line of work?" There was this proud look on Fergus' face as he answered. "She volunteered." Stoick quieted at that as his gears churned, then turned to look at his son chatting animatedly with the girl. With her age, she could easily go wherever Hiccup needed to be, school included. And perhaps even become a friend of his, because god knows his son needs one. But she's young. "We'll have a trial run then." Stoick finally decided as he watched the girl show Hiccup how to judo flip. "See if she's fit for the job, and then I'll decide if she stays or not." or An AU where Hiccup, the only heir of the Haddock Enterprise, needs a bodyguard. What better place to look for one but from one of their partners, the Dunbroch Company Line? After all, they're known for their extraordinary bodyguards. Except, nobody expected Hiccup to choose chaos in the form of a redheaded girl. [as my friend lani said, adding anime logic strength to merida]

ABOUT ME!!
Hello! To start this off, I am a very chaotic, loud person who loves people, drawing, and mischief! I like to make fanart and draw stuff I know will make people happy and smile, and I aim to be a kind and caring person! If I notice you are seeming sad, I will message you privately to try and cheer you up (although I’m not a very comforting person…)
I am a female and go by She/Her.
I still sleep with (1) stuffed toy…I’ve had him for 9 years and his name is Happo 😭
My birthday is 7th of October
I say ‘Nuh uh’ and ‘that’s crazy’ a lot
I care a lot about people I like, so that will lead a lot to me asking and talking to you.
I’m 14 years old (damn I’m old) and I live in Australia! 🇦🇺
My favourite food is beef, and I really like mint chocolate ice cream!
My fandoms include: Undertale/UTMV, Helluva Boss, FNaF, TADC (The Amazing Digital Circus), South Park and Wings of Fire! (There might be more but I can’t think of anymore right now lol) I’m also interested in anything to do with ghosts (such as abandoned asylums and stuff like that), I love music and singing, I have a guitar I can play one song on, and I love colouring!
I have three dogs (about to get another one), I have Fergus the pugzu, Leo the Labrador, and Teddy the toy Moodle (the dog were getting this year we will name Lulu, she will be the same dog as Teddy from different parents and our hope is to breed them)
Extras: My favourite colours are blue, purple and yellow. I have a large family of 7 members with my mum and 5 with my dad. I am weird :P I have weird taste in food (I like pineapple pizza, I love spicy food, I love liquorice, etc.) I don’t have a regard for my own personal safety (for example I will eat way too much spice my body can handle or I will jump into a lake fully clothed in the middle of winter off a small rock side (I have done both before))!
DNI if: you are a proshipper, you’re rude, hurtful or disrespectful toward me or anyone else I know, you are homophobic/transphobic, sexist, or an overall asshole
Thank you and I hope if you follow me you don’t mind a bit of chaos!

Presenting!!! The Fanmade Cores competition!!!
Tumblr media
Jumping on the bandwagon to these things!!! This competition is gonna be for the fan-made cores in some portal series and games! Obviously I probably didn't get everyone, but The Underground is already sort of obscure enough I didn't want to use more unknown ones that were definitely going to loose anyways because only 5 other people knew about them!
All of the cores I'll be using are from Meet the Cores 1-3, Portal: The Underground, Portal Stories: Mel, and Aperture Tag! And these are ONLY the Cores, so no turrets, P-body/Atlas variations and others won't be included here!
With that out of the way! Here are the matchups (no links right now since I'm still setting up the polls!)
ROUND 1:
Avery vs Enrichment Core
Ray vs Gaming Core
Chuck/Security Core vs General Core
Fergus/Gel Supervisor vs Rusty Core
Narrator Core vs Dr. Alma
Omni Core vs Oxygen Core
ST4NL3 Core vs Humour Core

Loose Screws Louis/Jazz Core vs Ohnothan/Ego Core
Rose vs Turret Core
Legal Core vs Quest Core
Virgil vs Heavy Metal Core
Rainbow Core vs Nigel
Paranoia Core vs Storyteller Core
Friendship Cores vs Optimism Core

Once I get the polls set up these will all have links! For now please rb to spread this to other Core fans :]

Checking the FB bout on PK for the Eyvel Brigid banner and...
Some stuff is really watermelon worthy, while some other stuff is kind of nice, so, in a way, it's a mixed bag, with the biggest offender being in the general (with everyone, not a character specific dialogue) script :
We have the traditional "new summoned heroes are being chased by bandits!!!" but...
Tumblr media
Sure sure, GT is wonky as hell but lol @"I'll heal you with my walking stick"
Less lol though, the "Brigid is tired after fending off against so many pirates and says so to her sister, hopefully Midir and Dew are here to save the day" like... are we talking about the same Brigid who was holding off on a bridge against her entire crew who turned against her?
and the very same Brigid who will later on fight against many gladiators and face tank her possessed!daughter without ever complaining ?
And why the crap is she saved by Midir out of anyone??? I mean, did the people who wrote this thing checked his stats or what??
Tumblr media
...
Bar the usual shaddening thrown at someone's spiel, Brigid remembered yesterday she was a Crusader and got her HW from her sister, before she was a captain/member of the Orgahill pirates, a "robin hood"-esque group of randoms. Where does this "what's most important isn't HB or HW but bonds!" come from? Brigid, spent most her life as a random without HW!
In Dew's FB :
Tumblr media
TFW Brigid thinks she is called Eyvel and she doesn't have a * rank in bows meaning she can use them at inception, or got the "It's as if I've known this weapon for all my life!".
I've said it already, but I dread a FE4 remake.
Dew wanting to become a good/honorable thief is totes not a thing that happens in FE5 with what Pahn's/Perne is supposed to be, I guess wanting the two of them to interact would have been too much ?
Edain's FB :
Bar the utter nonsense that is Charlotte's "maybe studying Edain will teach me the secret of marrying a rich guy" spiel, it was refreshing/fun to see her interact with Edain and realise that, nope, she's just someone who's kind and her kindness attracts people all around.
Hilariously, she's paired with Doro in this FB and damn how FEH pisses on the so-called teenage dramas from the academy days, from Sharena relying on Sylvain to fight just like she relies on everyone else, regardless of his crust and status, to here, Doro (even if it's Charlotte who has this realisation!) learning that people aren't only attracted to Edain because of her status, they are attracted to her because of her kindness.
i swear at times FEH is trying to retcon/rewrite Doro lol
Brigid's FB :
The last lines with Lifis wanting to join the Brigids' pirate gang is hilarious in its own way, sure it's too bad A!Brigid didn't meet Eyvel, but she and P!Brigid interacted!
I wonder if Lifis and/or Ronan would have made a link lol
It was nice to see her interact with other pirates (tfw no P!Naesala or P!Tibarn convo though) and exchange a bit more with Fergus, with a reference to Dartz! Maybe it's a sign he'll join the next pirate festival? Who am I kidding, we will get P!Ursula with P!Nino instead.
Midir's FB was milquetoast, but it was to be expected lol
