Antioxidants, Vol. 13, Pages 1004: Sodium Selenite Induces Autophagy and Apoptosis in Cervical #cancer Cells via Mitochondrial ROS-Activated AMPK/mTOR/FOXO3a Pathway
Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element known for its significant role in maintaining human health and mitigating disease progression. Selenium and its compounds exhibit high selective cytotoxicity against tumor cells. However, their anti-cervical #cancer (CC) effects and underlying mechanisms have not been fully explored. This study found that sodium selenite (SS) inhibits the viability of HeLa and SiHa cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Intraperitoneal injection of 3 and 6 mg/kg SS for 14 days in female nude mice significantly inhibited the growth of HeLa cell xenografts without evident hepatotoxicity or nephrotoxicity. #RNA sequencing results indicated that the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), Forkhead box protein O (FOXO), and apoptosis signaling pathways are key regulatory pathways in SS’s anti-CC effects, and SS’s inhibition of HeLa cell proliferation may be related to autophagy and ROS-induced apoptosis. Further research has revealed that SS induces cell autophagy and apoptosis through the AMPK/mTOR/FOXO3a pathway, characterized by the upregulation of p-AMPK/AMPK, FOXO3a, LC3-II, cleaved-caspase3, and cleaved-PARP and the downregulation of p-mTOR/mTOR and p62. Additionally, SS impaired mitochondrial function, including decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, mitochondrial Ca2+ overload, and accumulation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS). Pretreatment with Mitoquinone mesylate (Mito Q) and compound C partially reversed SS-induced apoptosis, autophagy, and proliferation inhibition. Pretreatment with 3-methyladenine (3-MA) enhances SS-induced apoptosis and proliferation inhibition in HeLa cells but reverses these effects in SiHa cells. In summary, SS induces apoptosis, autophagy, and proliferation inhibition in HeLa and SiHa cells through the activation of the AMPK/mTOR/FOXO3a signaling pathway via mtROS. Autophagy activation may be a major risk factor for SS-induced apoptosis in SiHa cells but can protect HeLa cells from SS-induced apoptosis. These findings provide new evidence for understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying SS in potential new drug development for CC. https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3921/13/8/1004?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

Brazilian Navy VF-1 Squadron conducts graduation flight with four Skyhawk jets
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 08/09/2022 - 07:00 in Brazilian Navy, Military
The 1st Interception and Attack Aircraft Squadron (EsqdVF-1) made a graduation flight with four planes, on the morning of July 26, at the Naval Air Base of São Pedro da Aldeia. The last flight with 4 aircraft had been made in 2010.
During the approximately one-hour flight, the six pilots of the EsqdVF-1 were on board the two monopiloted aircraft, N-1004 and N-1008, and the two bipiloted aircraft, N-1021 and N-1022, performing the basic graduation and diamond graduation maneuvers.

Graduation flights consist of the coordinated operation of two or more aircraft, under the command of a leader, flying in proximity to each other in predefined positions, in order to gain tactical advantages in the environment where they are operating. The activity provides mutual protection of its members and concentration of firepower, in addition to optimizing air traffic coordination and the division of tasks between the crews of the graduation elements.

This type of training is important for the maintenance of the Squadron's aviation doctrine and contributes to the training of its pilots and the safety of air operations.

Detective Conan Rewatch: Episode 1004
Episode 1004: “The 36-Cell Perfect Game (Part 2)”
Before watching this episode, on a scale of 1-10, how much are you looking forward to seeing it again?
8!
Favorite screencap:
Tumblr media
Conan: “First Kid, now you. ...Could everyone please stop taking over my show?”
Amuro: “Don’t worry, Detective Amuro will be just as popular as Detective Conan. You’ll see.”
Favorite moment:

This little scene.
Least favorite moment:

Poison definitely looks like an awful way to die. >_’
What's one thing you noticed/realized about this episode that you hadn't before?
Tumblr media
Scenes in this episode yet again have caused me to do double takes again. I did not cap them because I’m not sure how much attention I should bring to it. Basically all you need to know is that certain scenes in the manga version of the case that just seem kinda nonchalant and tame got waaaaay more intense in the episode due to some decisions on the anime staff’s part.
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this episode?
7!
Celebrate it!
Since I don't have access to a tablet and am too lazy to scan a drawing, have a (not exactly) summary haiku.
Now there’s been two deaths
And more seem to be on way
Need to solve the code
Next Episode: Episode 1005
Previous Episode: Episode 1003

The Perfect Day
Tumblr media
I am participating in @emceesynonymroll wacky drabble prompt # 33  “I think it’s time I teach you about respect,” which will appear in bold.”
Word Count: 1004 (arrrrgghhhh!!!!!)
All Characters Belong to Pixelberry
Pairing:  Liam and Riley
Summary:  Liam and Riley are engaged.  It’s a beautiful day in Cordonia and they all the squad needs to get out of the palace for a bit.
Warnings:  Profanity that’s really it.
I don’t have rights to the music, but i found a pretty decent guitar cover of Respect  that i wish a woman was playing but oh well.  Dude did a good job.  I like to think Riley killed it.
Mentions of the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. RIP!  The voice of an era in music.

Please forgive any typos:
If you enjoy my storytelling please feel free to like and reblog. :)

“It’s a beautiful day. We should be outside enjoying it. Let’s go to the beach.  Pack a picnic basket have good music playing, and dance.”
“Did someone say dance?” Maxwell apparently just checked into the conversation.
“Yes, a beach day with good food, and  good music would be awesome.  Mad respect.”
“Just a little bit…..“ Riley sang twitching her hips.
“What?” Leo looked confused.
“R - E - S - P - E - C - T ?”
“You can spell?”  Hana asked.
“Nobody knows this song?”
Everyone shook their heads no.
“Well looks like i’m taking you royals to school because…
I think it’s time I teach you about RESPECT.”
“Mmmm… please tell me this involves you in a white crop top and a short pleated skirt , your hair in pigtails with a ruler.”
Tumblr media
“LEO I already told you about this more than once. She’s off limits. I put a ring on it.”
“And smack it,” Leo making whipping sounds.
“Put it terms he understands, like, you licked it, therefore it’s yours.”
“She gets me Liam. Understood.”
Drake rolls his eyes,  "TMI Brooks!“  Riley smirks at him
"Liam would you get me your guitar.  I’m gonna need it.”
“You play the guitar Brooks?”
“Yep, it’s one of my muscle memory super hero powers I’ve unearthed since I’ve been here.  Just like being able to use the bo staff, but I already knew I could fight and throw a decent punch.”
Liam brought his guitar to the room.
Riley shook out her hands.  “Come on freaky muscle memory super powers.”
She struck the first cord and it sounded horrible.  Everyone winced.  King Liam walked up to her, and whispered in her ear.  “You played for me for an hour and it was beautiful. You’re tense, I can see it in your shoulders. Relax.” He gently rubbed her shoulders for a few moments.  “You can do this.”
She struck a few cords and hummed for a second.  Then perfect music and song and soulful riffs rang true.
Tumblr media
Just before she closed her eyes as she was really getting into the song,  she glanced at Liam.  He was bobbing his head to the music smiling at her, and mouthed the words “My Queen.”
When she was done they all screamed.
“Damn Brooks,” any place we go from now on, your playlist is riding shotgun.”
“Hell yeah!”
But her eyes were on Liam and his on hers.  “You know you’re freaking amazing right?”
“Yes, but you can say it again.”
“You’re freaking amazing Duchess Riley.” King Liam leaned in to kiss her lips.  As soon as he had connected.  Someone cleared their throat.
Liam opened his eyes, seeing his father standing there.
He pulled away from Duchess Riley.  Riley noticed, he had a slight smear of lipstick on his cheek.
She tried to get his attention.
Liam quirked his eyebrow at her.
“Father.”
“Duchess Riley, you were definitely born in the wrong era, singing a powerhouse song from the Queen of Soul.”
Everyone’s mouths dropped.
Tumblr media
“I mean no disrespect, King Father, you know that song?”
Constantine laughs, nodding his head.
“So I take it then, you’re the little songbird I’ve been hearing around the palace.”
She nodded to  him.  “I hope I haven’t been too troublesome for you.”
“On the contrary, Duchess Riley, you have a beautiful voice. It’s been a while since these halls have been graced with a talented musician living behind these walls, to be part of the royal family. You know that was Liam’s mother’s guitar. She could play and sing beautifully like you.”
“Yes, King Liam did mention that to me.“
“I can really see now why he’s so fond of you.  You remind me so much of her too.”
“That’s so kind of you to say, Sir.”
“What are you kids up to today?”
“We were thinking about a picnic at the beach.  Play some music.
Tumblr media
“Duchess Riley has the best playlist.” Maxwell chimed in.
“Of course, a talented musician would, and I bet it’s very eclectic. You kids have fun.”
"Duchess Riley.”
She gave him a low curtsy, “King Father.”
“And Liam?“
“Yes Father?”
"Duchess Riley was trying to tell you, you had a little lipstick smear right about here,” gesturing to his face.
“Oh!”  Liam rubbed his face, his cheeks reddening.
They requested a picnic basket lunch from the kitchen, and went to get into their swimsuits.
Liam and Drake, the captains set up the volleyball net, and teams were selected.
Liam selected Riley and Maxwell, Drake,Hana and Leo on the other.
Drake and Riley were almost as competitive as Drake and Liam were. Drake spiked the ball hard, hitting  Riley in the right breast hard.
She went down grabbing her breast. “Mother Fucker!” Riley screamed.
“What the hell Drake?!?”  Liam rushed over to her.
“Is it bad that I am sympathetic and turned on right now?” Leo asked.
“Right?” Maxwell and Hana said in unison.
“Are you hurt? Let me see.” Liam remarked.
“ No one is seeing my boob right now. But, be a good boy,  and we’ll have dessert later.”
“God Damn, i love dessert.”
Tumblr media
They looked up seeing everyone staring at them, Liam was  still groping Riley’s breast, licking his lips at her.
"They’re not talking about cake. Nope, not at all awkward,  not one bit.”
Liam pulled Riley up.
“It’s definitely on now, you come after mine, I come after you Drake .” Liam popped his knuckles and cracked his neck.
“Bring it!”
So the game basically turned into a battle Royale between Drake and Liam. Liam was the victor.
As evening set in, they built a small bonfire.
Tumblr media
Riley played songs they all would know.
She put the guitar down, finally taking a break.
“What?” She inquired looking at Liam, him staring at her with a sweet smile on his lips.
He kissed her. “It’s just so nice to be able to kiss you and hold your hand in public and not hide our love.”
They spent  the rest of the evening laughing, singing, and making s'mores by the fire.
It had indeed been the perfect day.

Tycho Brahe (1546 - 1601) Born into a noble family in the Sixteenth century in an area called Scania (now a part of modern-day Sweden), Tycho Brahe (born Tyge Ottesen Brahe) is a well known astronomer, renowned for his accurate planetary observations and recordings.
Brahe lived a colourful life in his castle, often indulging in large banquets with musicians and jesters. He lost both his nose and his life through strange events (more on that later), however more importantly, he was an avid astronomer of his time, and his findings have helped expand modern day astronomy. In the year 1572, Brahe famously witnessed an event that would shake the unchanging Aristotelian view of the universe that prevailed in the sixteenth century. Termed a "nova", meaning new star, we now know of this event as a supernova, an exploding super massive star. Brahe witnessed a bright new object which appeared in the night sky, and lasted for eighteen months before slowly fading away. The remnants of this supernova are visible by telescopes of the modern era, and is known as SN1572 (otherwise known as Tycho's Supernova, Tycho's Nova, or B Cassiopeiae), once a brilliant star in the constellation of Cassiopeia. The observations of Brahe suggested that this 'new' star did not change positions in respect to the other stars- providing evidence that not everything in the heavens was immutable. In the year 1577, Brahe carefully observed a comet, which he was able to determine was further away than the moon, by measuring the parallax of the comet. According to the teachings of Aristotle, the common belief was that comets were simply gases burning in the atmosphere/atmospheric phenomena. The entire night sky was believed to be an unchanging celestial sphere, and Brahe helped to show that this object represented a change in the sphere; an object not attached to the crystal sphere, but instead which moved around in empty space. This lead him to create new means for measuring stellar parallax, of which he found none, leading him to conclude that either the Earth was motionless in the centre of the universe, or that the stars were too far away to measure parallax. However, Brahe did not believe the latter and thus concluded that Earth was indeed, at the centre of the universe. (which we know today is not the case). Brahe studied the stars during a time before the telescope was invented by Galileo Galilei early in the 1600's, and he built his first instrument in 1564, to measure the positions and motions of celestial objects with the greatest accuracy. Following this, he started to design his own instruments and devices, which included large sextants, quadrants and a globe that depicted the position of the stars as seen from Earth. Brahe compiled a catalogue of 1004 stars in great accuracy using his new instruments. He was able to depict that the stars were much further away than the planets, and he accurately measured the position and motion of Mars. Later on, Johannes Kepler used this motion to deduce his three laws of planetary motion, with one stating that all planets move in elliptical orbits around the sun. Furthermore, Brahe proposed a model of the Solar System that was in between the current Ptolemaic and Copernican models, and had Earth at the centre. This model, although incorrect, was widely accepted for some time. Brahe had terrible luck. He lost his nose in a feud over a mathematical formula in his twenties; and lost his life from a bladder infection he got at a banquet in Prague in 1601. During banquets of this time, it was often frowned upon to relieve ones self until after, and so Brahe held it in until the banquet had finished. After eleven days of excruciating pain and problems urinating, he passed away from a bladder infection. Although Brahe was not always correct in his observations, his active studies of the universe lead to the development of modern day astronomy. A great legacy remains to this day for Mr. Brahe. The crater Tycho on the Moon is named after him, as is the crater Tycho Brahe on Mars. There is also a Tycho Brahe Planetarium in Copenhagen. M/F Tycho Brahe is the name of a ferry that transports passengers between Denmark and Sweden. Furthermore, HEAT 1X Tycho Brahe is a rocket and spacecraft project, being built by Copenhagen Suborbitals, a Danish organization that attempted repeatedly to perform the first amateur crewed spaceflight. -EJ Image Source: https://flic.kr/p/7UJ9Qs Information Sources: http://galileo.rice.edu/sci/brahe.html http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/biography/Brahe.html

The Jesting Host (Part 2)
A/N: Hello and welcome back to another “The Jesting Host” yes I decided to name it that because I wanted something to call this series. Welcome to part 2 of this series where today the next little victim, is Yandereiplier quite the overseen ego in my opinion, then again aren’t all? I decided to post this the same day as the first one, as I felt it was way too short along with this part also being short. I promise to you that the fics will get longer as time goes by!
Tagging: @yandere-ipli-ler @thehostofleetrature
Word Count: 1004
The Host was quite proud of how he handled with Eric, such a sweet boy he is; however now he has to be extra careful with the next person on his feather list (get it cause black list except with tickling so a feather list?). They could quite easily call out on his shenanigans, he really should save her for last, but he was just too eager. He had began to miss their sweet, adoring laughter already, and needed it in order to move on with the others.
The person in mind was of course, Yandereiplier, one out of the 2 people Host loved most in their polyamory. She was currently cleaning all over the mansion, what, did you think the Googles or Googliplier himself would even DARE do such a thing? Heck no! And with such a handful of chaotic egos, someone had to clean up after them! But it was all hard work. She’d tire herself out from cleaning the 50 million bathrooms in the mansion and vacuum ever floor, using her ninja yandere skills to sneak into their rooms as to vacuum since obviously some of them don’t.
She sighed and collapsed on the nearby bed of her room that she shared with her senpais, already missing their warm embrace and lovely voices. She had just finished dusting all around the mansion and decided now was a good time for a little rest. She flicked the feather duster around, blushing at all the possibilities that it bestowed in her hand, oh how Silver or Host would tease he just by holding the devious tool. It’s a shame they weren’t here to see it though.
Little to her knowledge, someone was there, watching her dust the air with the soft tool. The Host smiled fondly at her, oh my, she looked so perfect didn’t she? Laying so innocently like a little innocent swan in a lake, absolutely stunning. But cuddling was for later, perhaps after a few more he shall return to her for a nap and tea, discussing about their hero as he was away once again. Ah yes that sounds absolutely pleasant. But now was a time to focus for the Host. He closed his mind eye and began mumbling ever so softly.
“The feather duster ever so slightly ruffled its feathers in response to the school girl waving it around. Due to disbelief, the young girl is quite shocked after seeing an inanimate object come to life. Before she could question the possibility of such an occurrence, the duster itself withdrew from her hand and gave a feather’s kiss to her cheek.”
Just as the Host described, the duster did exactly that and brushed lightly over Yandere’s cheek, which unknown to most, was quite ticklish.
“E-ehehehep! Ahahaha hehehey! Whehahahaht ohohn eahahahrth are you dohohohing?”
Yandere began to giggle out, her cheeks were such a tickly flusterspot. As much as Host would love to continue, he had to move somewhere else. After all it’d be suspicious that a random duster would’ve known about this. Then again it’s suspicious that it’s alive at all but he’s praying she won’t notice.
“After the duster had played with her cheeks, now was time for the fun to begin. Like a proper gentlemen the feathers lightly kissed her hand before beginning to dust over her knees, as they were quite dusty and in need of attention.”
The Host purred and bit his lip at her delightful squeal followed suit by the sound of melodious, frantic giggling. He could listen to it for days on end and all he had to do was swipe a bundle of feathers anywhere on her adorably ticklish body. For a yandere, she was awfully adorable and sweet.
Yandere on the other hand was giggling up a storm, it was so teasingly tickly that it distracted her to make coherent thoughts. She tried curling up or kicking her legs, but nothing was working whatsoever. Everywhere here legs went, the duster was right behind, sometimes dusting off her thighs which increased her squeaky laughter up some more. She tried lightly pushing or grabbing the tool, but it would always move its handle away.
“Adorable how such an intimidating yandere with so much fighting skill can be reduced to sweet laughter in seconds. The duster had now figured as a finale to such vigorous cleaning to end off…..split in two at her feet”
Oh how he nearly gave himself away with an evil laugh. The duster lifted itself away from the young woman and before her very eyes, split into two tinier dusters and dangled themselves over her feet. Truly is a shame to always wear nylon isn’t it?
Yandere squeaked and paled at the sight of her feet at threat of the dusters and their little wiggly dances towards her feet. She tried to tuck herself in only to be flipped over and the dusters fluttering over each sole respectively. The sensitive yandere squealed out hysterically,
“AHAHHAHEHEHEHEHEHEHE OKHAHAHAHAHAY IHIHIHH’M S-S-S-SOHOHHOHRRY! P-P-P-PLEHEHEHEHHEASE NOT THE FEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHET! MEHEHEHEHEHRCY!”
At that the Host relented and allowed the dusters to rest on the bed, snickering silent to himself. Being so mischevious and yet so playful was fun. It was already so easy to get anyone to squeal and beg. Oh how he couldn’t wait to continue, ah but first…another need needed to be quenched. He lightly knocked on the door and walked into the room to find a beautiful, blushing wife curled up on the bed.
           “Oh my, what happened here?”
           “I….sniffle…dohohn’t knohohohow! Ihihih was c-cleahahahhehehning and then….”
Before she could say more, he hushed her and crawled onto the bed, lied on his side and pulled her in close. I think it’s safe to say they both needed some cuddles after that event. He combed through her hair with his fingers and whispered.
“You work effortlessly on your own, you deserve a little R&R my love. Please, rest for a while, I will be by your side no matter what.”
2 down, 10 to go
EEEEEEEEEEee I hope you enjoyed! I’m trying my very best to write these stories. They’re not all that lengthy or all that detailed but I’m hoping that they’re good in your eyes!!!! Please let me know of any concerns!

Decorative Rocks and Ornamental Stone - Landscaping
It's time for you to break from the everyday landscaping design. What does your lawn contain? Plenty of green grass - that takes lots of time for you to mow and lots of water to appear healthy, trees and shrubs. Perhaps some flowerbeds flanking the home itself.
But there's a lot more you certainly can do together with your landscaping, if you simply decide to complete things a little differently.
Tumblr media
In desert locations, obviously, like Arizona and Mexico, why bother to try to force grass to develop at all? Why don't you simply cover your yard with attractive, ornamental rock and stone, with several shrubs. Or because the joke has it, "I'm retired, I've mowed my last lawn! " This is because simple - you may be thinking water is just a renewable resource - however it doesn't renew as fast as mankind is consuming it. In desert states where water originates from below ground aquifers, the amount of this fresh-water source is lowering each year, and rainwater cannot replenish that level fast enough.
Even although you don't reside in a desert climate, there's no reason you can't create a rock garden - either large or small - simply of your yard. This type of garden will reduce the full time needed seriously to mow your lawn, there'll be no need to spread pesticides around, and it is a quiet and restful place around which to sit.
Like every other landscaping element, a rock garden does have to be planned carefully. Rock doesn't absorb water - so any rain run-off will go straight into your lawn and does have to be carefully drained off. Don't put your rock garden over electrical or phone lines, either.
Tumblr media
You may be thinking that the rock garden is equal to a Japanese garden, but that isn't necessarily the case. The Japanese garden combines three elements: stone which represents mountains or islands, water - representing purity, and plants. A Zen garden is what many people think of once they hear the word Japanese garden - a stretch of white sand with black rocks placed strategically about, and one meditates by raking the sand smooth.
You will find two ways to set up a rock garden... one is always to make the rock seem like an all natural outcropping of bedrock... used to stop an inconvenient slope. The more usual design would be to pile up the stones - both large and small - in harmonious groupings... and if you merely should have greenery, leave small gaps between the rocks into that the plants may be placed.
