Karşılaşmadan dakikalar
İlk yarı
2. dakikada Çekya, ilk tehlikeli atağı geliştirdi. Barak’ın pasına hareketlenen Provod’un ceza sahası sol çaprazından sert vuruşunda, kaleci Mert Günok topu kornere çeldi.
18. dakikada Çekya gole yaklaştı. Coufal’ın uzun taç atışında Soucek, kafa vuruşuyla topu arka direğe gönderdi. Boş durumdaki Hranac’ın kafa vuruşunda meşin yuvarlak üstten auta gitti.
20. dakikada Çekya, 10 kişi kaldı. Orta saha mücadelesinde Salih Özcan’ın ayağına basan Barak, ikinci sarıdan kırmızı kart gördü.
27. dakikada A Millî Takımımız etkili geldi. Ferdi’nin sol kanattan yaptığı ortaya hareketlenen Arda Güler’in kale sahası önünde şık volesinde top savunmaya çarpıp kornere çıktı.
45. dakikada Çekya öne geçme şansını kullanamadı. Hızlı hücumda Provod, ara pasını ceza sahasına gönderdi. Topla buluşan David Jurasek’in vuruşunda, kaleci Mert Günok gole izin vermedi.
İkinci yarı
46. dakikada Ay-Yıldızlılarımız etkili geldi. Merih Demiral, savunma arkasına uzun pasında Barış Alper Yılmaz’ı topla buluşturdu. Barış’ın kale sahasının sağ çaprazından bekletmeden yaptığı kafa vuruşunda, kaleci Stanek topu çıkardı.
51. dakikada Millîlerimiz golü buldu. Ceza sahası önündeki İsmail Yüksek, yerden pasını Hakan Çalhanoğlu’na gönderdi. Hakan’ın kaleyi çaprazdan gören pozisyonda sağ ayağıyla gelişine yaptığı sert vuruşta top, uzak direk dibinden ağlarla buluştu: 0-1.
66. dakikada Çekya eşitliği yakaladı. Coufal’ın sağ kanattan uzun taç atışında Soucek, topu kafayla kale sahasına doğru aşırttı. Chory ile birlikte yükselen Mert Günok, topu kontrol edemedi. Chory’nin yaptığı vuruşta çizgi üzerinde topa müdahale eden Samet Akaydın, gole izin vermedi. Dönen topu sert vuruşla filelere gönderen Soucek, durumu 1-1 yaptı.
90+4. dakikada A Millî Takımımız öne geçti. Cenk Tosun, Orkun Kökçü’nün pasıyla ceza sahasına girdi. Rakiplerinden kurtulan Cenk, yaptığı sert vuruşla topu köşeden ağlara göndererek Ay-Yıldızlılarımızı 2-1 öne geçirdi.

Hiiii! I have a newfound crush on Sir Nolan Patty and was wondering if you could list some facts/details about him .... likes and dislikes etc.! Besides his legendary hockey family and deadpan charm haha thank you!
lol i love that you think i’m some sort of nolan patrick expert (i do know way too much about that boy)
so i’m just gonna go with whatever comes to mind first
i’m sure you know this guy is GREAT at hockey (despite what the haters say nolan is NOT a bust)
he was drafted second overall in 2017 (right after his bf nico) ((his other bf is tk))
idk if this is true or if nolan was joking around but he says his fav animal is a platypus (i’m p sure he was joking)
he loves golf
and fishing
and hunting
he has a dog named charlie
i think he named his dog charlie bc that’s what his grandpa used to call him
and he has a “C” tattooed on his arm for charlie (the nickname not his dog) ((does that make sense? lol))
this man now has so many tattoos (most of them are on his thighs)
p sure his first one was at 16 and its his grandpa’s initials and 63 underneath them
his bday is september 19 (we love a virgo)
apparently he doesn’t know how to tie his shoes
he def doesn’t know how to tie his ties
OH he hates the philly media,,, says they’re all irrelevant lmao
his mom’s credit card got hacked once, someone used it for porn, and nolan was blamed
he used to eat a ham and cheese sandwich before games (doesn’t anymore)
nolan hates country music
one of his favorite bands is mt. joy (they’re really good)
before he was drafted by philly he was on the brandon wheat kings
his roommate is kevin hayes
seems to have a love/hate relationship with gritty lol
nolan’s first nhl fight was against david krejci
he doesn’t want anyone talking about his rosy cheeks
more often than not you’ll see him with greasy hair
its a great flow but it’d be better if it weren’t greasy all the time
tk’s famous “atta boy johnson eat up bud, eat up” came after nolan’s hit on johnson during the 2019 stadium series (he had it coming after his hit on nolan)
philly patty and winnipeg patty are two completely different people
philly patty is hella stoic and focused on hockey
winnipeg patty is chill and gives off big 90s lesbian vibes
he’s scared of mice
he also loves sushi
ok that’s all i could think of rn

The shapes of the city, the blue line of the Charles River leading to the harbor, the throngs of feisty fans in black and gold outside the Garden, stay the same. Their hero is what has changed. David Krejci returns to Boston. David Pastrnak is waiting.

Bonfires! Breakups! All-ages night at the local club, underage drinking, and reminders of how everything tastes better when you're stoned.
Welcome to a tale of bros being bros, bros boning bros, and little bros being best. PITTSBURGH | Penguins end Bruins’ 19-game point streak in 4-2 win
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Jared McCann scored twice, Matt Murray finished with 39 saves and the Pittsburgh Penguins handed the Boston Bruins their first regulation loss since January with a 4-2 victory on Sunday night.
Nick Bjugstad and Jake Guentzel also scored for the Penguins, who survived another late push by the Bruins.

Ramblings: Stacking Mates, Shutout Season, PPPt/60, McCann, Zucker, & Bishop (March 8)
There aren’t too many teams that I would be keen to roster three players from. Stacking mates is often a recipe for feast or famine, and come time for fantasy hockey playoffs, an ill-timed famine can be the death of a squad.
That said, the Bruins and Panthers, who met on Thursday evening, are two of the teams you’d consider taking that swing on. Sasha Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau have the ability to go off in bunches and are both clicking above the point-per-game mark. Meanwhile, Keith Yandle has been steadily plucking apples from the orchard.
All three factored in on the first two Florida goals as the Panthers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. David Krejci brought the Bs to within one before the Bruins’ top line joined the party
Despite still missing David Pastrnak – who is inching closer to returning from a thumb injury,  Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand refuse to slow down. Bergeron tallied his second shorthanded goal in as many games to knot the game at two. The assist, of course, went to Marchand.
Huberdeau clicked on his third point to regain the lead for a Panthers’ squad that should be looking towards the lottery and not the playoffs, but the Bruins were not to be outdone tonight. Matt Grzelcyk tallied the tying goal with 37 seconds remaining on the clock.
Then, it was back to Bergy.
  {source}<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">AND WITH 7.2 SECONDS REMAINING. PATRICE BERGERON. <a href="https://t.co/aHoP299Vei">pic.twitter.com/aHoP299Vei</a></p>— Bruins (Guy Boston Sports) (@Bruins_GBos) <a href="https://twitter.com/Bruins_GBos/status/1103847503433216000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 8, 2019</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}
Call it nine points in the last five games for Marchand and 80 on the season. Bergeron is up to 62 points in 51 games. Both are on 100-point paces.
  Stack ‘em up!
  **
Matt Murray made 25 stops and Sidney Crosby tallied for the sixth straight contest as the Pens blanked the Blue Jackets 3-0.
CBJ has lost three of their last four and is inching further away from the post-season picture. Missing the dance will be disastrous as the organization bet on itself and could be left holding the bag as the UFAs walk.
Joonas Korpisalo took the L in this one. Torts wouldn’t comment on why Korpisalo was getting the nod over Sergei Bobrovsky other than to say it wasn’t due to Bob’s performance of late. Columbus is riding three netminders right now, so perhaps it’s a just a rest situation, but it was a strange time to sit your number one if he’s healthy. The two teams meet again on Saturday, in what is shaping up to be a must-win for Columbus. If Bob is healthy, expect him to be tending the twine.
  Watch the updates.
  **
Jared McCann is loving life in the Steel City. The former first-rounder is breathing fresh air playing on the left-side of Crosby and Jake Guentzel. He has three goals and six points in his last five games and is seeing upwards of 17 minutes a night at even-strength. He’s yet to break onto a power-play unit, but if he continues to show signs of offensive life, that second unit should come calling soon.
We’ve all fallen for the third fiddle before, but McCann has always been a skilled, yet feisty player. He could be a nice fit on that line. Let’s see how the remaining games shake out, but we could be looking at a sleeper for 2019-20.
  **
In the most predictable result of the evening, the Sens lost again. This time to the Islanders. There isn’t much left to say about Ottawa. They stink and are going to watch Colorado draft an elite talent in June. Tough times.
Meanwhile, the goaltending on the Isle continues to be stellar. With Robin Lehner out with a suspected concussion, Thomas Greiss handled this one easily. He’s up to a .929 save percentage on the season.
  **
On the flip side of the predictability scope, the Lightning lost. No, it’s not April 1st, this is not a drill. Devon Dubnyk made 25 saves and Jason Zucker recorded the natural hat trick as Minny bested the best team 3-0 on Thursday.
After being moments away from being dealt to Calgary at the deadline, Zucker has been making good. The 27-year-old has five goals in five games and is enjoying the addition of Ryan Donato. Donato has been making the best of his opportunity in Minnesota. He has nine points in the eight games since the trade from Boston and has weaselled himself a gig on the team’s top line and top power-play unit.
We’ve got ourselves another sleeper alert.
  **
Alex Radulov returned to the Stars lineup and notched his first-career hat trick against the Avalanche. Jamie Benn had a goal and an assist to give him five points in his last two games, while Ben Bishop recorded his second consecutive shutout.
Bishop has been dynamite this season and should be in the thick of the Vezina conversation despite missing some time due to injury. His 0.930 save percentage in 39 contests sits second to only Andrei Vasilevskiy.
He’ll be 33 by the time puck drops next fall. I’ll be wary of him on draft day.
  **
Apparently, it was the evening of shutouts. Darcy Kuemper and Yotes blanked the Flames 2-0 on Thursday. Clayton Keller opened the scoring and Jakob Chychrun put the icing on the cake. Keller has just five points in his previous 15 contests. The sophomore slump has been wrapping its claws around the 20-year-old.
Bigger things are coming down the line. Hold on.
  **
The Canucks took on the Oilers on the road after an energy-filled victory on home ice against the Maple Leafs the evening before. They didn’t muster the same effort in this one.
Connor McDavid recorded two assists – his 60th and 61st of the season to join Joe Thornton as the only active players with three consecutive campaigns with at least 60 helpers.
Brock Boeser chipped in with two assists of his own but it wasn’t enough as the Oil took this one 3-2.
These two squads are battling for lottery balls at this point, so maybe we actually give the win to VanCity. What can I say, I'm a wide-eyed optimist.
  **
Chicago and Buffalo had some fun in a back-and-forth affair that needed extras. Chicago completed the first period up 2-0 only to see Buffalo score three in the second frame. The third period was highlighted by alternating tallies and a scoreless overtime period.
All three Hawks – Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Alex DeBrincat scored in the shootout for the victory.
The Hawks jumbled their lines ahead of this one with Kane sliding down to “L3” with Artem Anisimov and Dominik Kahun. Fret not though, he chipped in two assists and skated a team-high 25:13.
That’s three wins in four tries for Corey Crawford since returning from the IR. Unfortunately, not a quality start in the bunch. The Blackhawks will continue to try and score their way out of trouble, but that method can only work for so long.
  {source}<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Passing greatness.<br><br>With two helpers today, <a href="https://twitter.com/88PKane?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@88PKane</a> has passed Steve Larmer to take sole possession of 4th in points in franchise history. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Blackhawks?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Blackhawks</a> <a href="https://t.co/CCXWSVdo3S">pic.twitter.com/CCXWSVdo3S</a></p>— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) <a href="https://twitter.com/NHLBlackhawks/status/1103842767380377602?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 8, 2019</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}
  **
The Sharks defeated the Habs 5-2 in one of the late affairs. Brent Burns recorded his 60th assist of the season in this one. The 33-year-old is on pace for 89 points, which would be the second most we've seen from a blueliner in the last 25 years (Ray Bourque – 91 points in 1993-94).
  Not bad.
  **
The Blues blanked the lowly Kings 4-0 in the final game of the evening. Vladimir Tarasenko potted a goal and added an assist. After the rocky first half of the season, Tarasenko has made good on owners who displayed patience. The 27-year-old has 29 points in 21 games dating back to January 15.
It was Jake Allen who completed the goose egg in this one. You know things are going your way when Allen has four quality starts in his last five contests.
  **
Our Report Generator on DobberHockey continues to be improved. The most recent addition has been in the PP Data area where Eric Daoust has included PPPt/60 – which is essentially how many power-play points a player gets for every 60 minutes of power-play deployment. It’s a mouthful, but it provides tangible evidence to support how effective a player is on a man-advantage unit.
To me, this is a potential gold mine. Teams are constantly looking to improve their special teams’ production and finding players who are thriving in a limited role would likely be a good starting point in attempting to unearth assets that will see their value increase with further opportunities.
At the top of this list, we see the elites. Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Pastrnak, Phil Kessel, Burns, etc. But what I’m looking for are those undervalued players. Here are a few that stood out to me.
Jack Roslovic – Pegged by many as a prime candidate to steal the second line centre gig in Winnipeg this season, Roslovic has found himself locked in the bottom six skating fewer than 10 minutes a contest and very few power-play opportunities. However, in his 45 minutes of man-advantage action, the 22-year-old has produced 7.9 PPPt/60. That number puts him a shade ahead of Patrice Bergeron.
The Jets are going to run into cap issues soon, and when they do, Roslovic will be there to eat up offensive minutes for a reasonable price. He'll be another good bet to garner more interest next season assuming Winnipeg doesn't find a way to add a centre this offseason.
Kevin Labanc – The Sharks have a bevy of forward talent to choose from when an opponent heads to the sin bin. But it's Labanc who leads them in PPPt/60. His 7.1 PPPt/60 is amongst the league-leaders and not due to small sample size. His 145 minutes of man-advantage action is less than the big dogs, but still averaging out to over two-minutes per contest.
He'll need to continue to fight off Timo Meier for that top unit spot, but Labanc has shown capable of improving production year-over-year. A few more minutes per night and we could be talking about a 65-point forward next season.

Arizona drafts, what could have been!
HOCKEY GM ADVICE
So the Coyotes have not been a competitive team for awhile and with the high draft picks they have had recently, they should have rebounded and been a playoff contender by now. Let’s take a look at the Coyotes first round picks from the past few seasons and what they could have gotten instead.
Let’s start all the way back in:
2004:
The Coyotes chose with the 5th overall pick: Blake Wheeler GP826 P666
Wheeler was the best available pick for the Coyotes, but after attending University he refused to sign with the Yotes so they lost him for nothing. Players that could have been taken instead are:
Mike Green
David Krejci
Andrew Ladd
2005:
The Coyotes chose with the 17th overall Pick: Martin Hanzal
Should have chosen:
Paul Stastny
James Neal
Keith Yandle
T.J. Oshie
Kristopher Letang
2006:
The Coyotes had the 8th and 29th overall pick choosing Peter Mueller & Chris Summers
Players could have chosen with 8th:
Claude Giroux
Brad Marchand
Nick Foligno
Picks with 29th:
Michael Frolik
Artem Anisimov
2007:
The Coyotes selected with the 3rd overall pick: Kyle Turris
Later traded for David Rundblad and a 2nd round pick.
Players they should have chosen:
Jamie Benn
Jakub Voracek
Logan Couture
David Perron
Max Pacioretty
P.K. Subban
2008:
The Coyotes selected with the 8th overall pick: Mikkel Boedker
Players they should have chosen:
Erik Karlsson
Jordan Eberle
Derek Stepan
John Carlson
Roman Josi
2009:
The Coyotes selected with the 6th overall pick: Oliver Ekman-Larsson
They nailed this pick.
2010:
The Coyotes selected with the 13th overall pick: Brandon Gormley
Players they should have chosen:
Vladimir Tarasenko
Evgeny Kuznetsov
Mark Stone
Jaden Schwartz
Cam Fowler
2011:
The Coyotes selected with the 20th overall pick: Connor Murphy
Players they should have chosen:
Nikita Kucherov
Johnny Gaudreau
Vincent Trocheck
2012:
The Coyotes selected with the 27th overall pick: Henrik Samuelsson
Players they should have chosen:
Shayne Gostisbehere
Colton Parayko
2013:
The Coyotes selected with the 12th overall pick: Max Domi
Later traded to Montreal, this was the correct pick.
2014:
The Coyotes selected with the 12th overall pick: Brendan Perlini
Players they should have chosen:
David Pastrnak
Dylan Larkin
Brayden Point
Viktor Arvidsson
2015:
The Coyotes selected with the 3rd and 30th overall picks: Dylan Strome & Nick Merkley
Players they should have chosen with 3rd overall:
Mikko Rantanen
Mitch Marner
Sebastian Aho
Mathew Barzal
Zach Werenski
Brock Boeser
Ivan Provorov
Thomas Chabot
Players could have chosen with 30th:
Sebastian Aho
Anthony Cirelli
Brandon Carlo
We will stop the list here as The past 3 drafts are still to early to determine. But here is what a roster could have looked like between 2004-2015
Benn - Point - Kucherov
Marchand - Aho - Marner
Keller - Krejci - Tarasenko
(4th line of current players)
OEL - Karlsson
Gostisbehere - Letang
Chychrun - Hjalmarsson
This is all what ifs, and the draft position would change depending on the success of players, but its amazing to see how many times teams blow a draft pick.

The Predators Don’t Need An Ovechkin Or A Crosby
The Stanley Cup playoffs begin today, and the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Nashville Predators enter as the betting favorites. You may recall Nashville’s Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Final last spring as the lowest-seeded playoff team, and it did so largely thanks to the red-hot play of goalie Pekka Rinne. The 2016-17 Preds ultimately fell two games short of claiming the franchise’s first Stanley Cup (Sidney Crosby and company had other plans), but this season’s iteration has a chance to make that disappointment feel like a distant memory.
To be sure, last season’s Predators and this season’s Predators are two very different teams. In 2016-17, Nashville finished tied for the fewest wins in regulation and overtime among teams that qualified for the playoffs. This season, the Preds tied for third most. And it’s not as though their scoring totals are especially gaudy — they finished in a tie for seventh in goals for, 29 behind the league-leading Tampa Bay Lightning.
But there is one thing this year’s Predators have in common with last year’s: They’re succeeding without a bona fide offensive star. No Predator scored more than 61 points last year, and it’s been more of the same this season. Seven Predator forwards finished with at least 35 points, but none eclipsed 64. Four Predator forwards scored at least 23 goals, but there’s not a 30-goal scorer in the bunch. Nashville has plenty of players who can hurt opposing defenses, but it doesn’t have a Connor McDavid or an Alexander Ovechkin. Which is to say, it doesn’t have a single skater who is capable of changing a game by himself.
You might expect this from a team that nabbed the last spot in the playoffs, but it’s quite unusual for a Presidents’ Trophy-winning team. In the more than three decades that the award has been handed out, Nashville has the lowest top scorer of any team to receive it.1

If anything, this shows just how effective the Predators have been on the blue line and between the pipes. Rinne, at 35 years old, is having the best season of his career in terms of quality start percentage, and his marks for both save percentage and goals against average are better than his career averages. And among goalies who’ve played at least 1,500 minutes this season, Rinne ranks fourth in goals saved above average. As we’ve said before, though, goaltending is unstable — and no amount of great goaltending can make up for bad defensive play. Fortunately for Nashville, its roster is stocked with some of the best defensemen in the NHL.
Captain Roman Josi and P.K. Subban have each put together a solid case for the Norris Trophy, awarded to the league’s best defenseman, while Ryan Ellis and Mattias Ekholm each rank in the top 15 among qualifying defensemen2 in Corsi for percentage, which estimates a player’s possession rate by measuring the percentage of shot attempts directed at his opponent’s net versus his own net while he’s on the ice. Factor in Matt Irwin and Montreal Canadiens castaway Alexei Emelin — and the exceptional play of Rinne behind them — and Nashville’s defensive unit conceded the second fewest goals in the NHL.
Of course, sound defenses aren’t solely the result of good goalie and defenseman play. That tired old adage — that the best defense is a good offense — is true, especially in the case of the Predators. Despite their lack of an offensive superstar, the Predators rank second in goals for percentage3 and ninth in Corsi for percentage. They’ve built one of the more efficient offenses in the NHL not on the back of one superstar, but on the backs of many good to very good players.
And even though the lack of at least one high-scoring superstar is uncharacteristic of a Presidents’ Trophy-winning team, it’s not necessarily unheard of for a Stanley Cup-winning team — although it’s rare. Since 1986, five teams have won the Stanley Cup without a 70-point scorer. None of those teams were the best regular-season team, but Stanley Cup glory can come from unexpected scoring outbursts and hot goaltending.
Starless Stanley Cup winners aren’t unprecedented

The 2003 New Jersey Devils and the 2011 Boston Bruins are each a very good analog for this year’s Predators. Neither team had a player score more than 62 points in the regular season, but each was the beneficiary of timely postseason scoring streaks. In the 2003 playoffs, the Devils got 18 points in 24 games from Jamie Langenbrunner and 10 goals from Jeff Friesen, who scored only 23 in the regular season. In 2011, it was David Krecji who stepped up for Boston — he notched 23 points in 25 postseason games and scored on 21.1 percent of his shots (a far better rate than his career mark of 12.2 percent).
Each team also benefited from hot goalie play: The Devils’ Martin Brodeur stopped 93.4 percent of the shots he faced in the playoffs after stopping just 91.4 percent of the shots he saw during the regular season, while the Bruins’ Tim Thomas stopped an astounding 94 percent of the shots he faced in one of the more memorable playoffs for a goalie in league history.
In other words, Nashville may have been more of an outlier for the Presidents’ Trophy because it doesn’t possess a stud (or several studs) who put up big numbers over the course of 82 games. But who wants that trophy anyway? The teams that claim it traditionally flop come springtime. Just ask the Washington Capitals. But if the Predators are able to steal a page from the playbooks of the 2003 Devils and the 2011 Bruins, the catfish will fly come June.

Boston Bruins Provide Injury Update On Rick Nash
Boston Bruins Provide Injury Update On Rick Nash #NHLBruins
It feels like the Boston Bruins have a new injury every game with the latest injury being to veteran forward Rick Nash. Nash was a late scratch ahead of Monday night’s OT loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets with the initial thinking that he was going to be good-to-go. Shortly after game-time, it was announced that Nash would be game-to-game with an upper-body injury. After the loss, Boston Bruins…

What We Learned: Bruins have to pony up for Pastrnak
Tumblr media
(Hello, this is a feature that will run through the entire season and aims to recap the weekend’s events and boils those events down to one admittedly superficial fact or stupid opinion about each team. Feel free to complain about it.)
Long-accepted fact: David Pastrnak was going to get something in the neighborhood of five or six years at an AAV of something like $5.5 million to $6.5 million.
High-end young talent, for sure. Gotta pay him as such. Just about any “insider” you talked to, whether on the management, player representation or media side, told you that was the term and number.
Only 11 forwards under the age of 22 have cleared 120 points in the past three seasons, and as you might imagine a good chunk of them are the high-end guys you’d expect to see here. Filip Forsberg, Sean Monahan, Connor McDavid, Sasha Barkov, Alex Galchenyuk, Nathan MacKinnon, Johnny Gaudreau, Leon Draisaitl, Nikita Kucherov, Elias Lindholm (maybe a surprise to some), and Pastrnak.
That’s it, and that’s with Pastrnak playing the fourth-fewest games of anyone in the group; last season was his first full NHL season.
In terms of points per game, Pastrnak is eighth. Tied with Leon Draisaitl. And Pastrnak scores more goals per game by a decent margin. And Pastrnak doesn’t have the benefit of playing a huge chunk of his minutes with the reigning MVP.
Which is why things just got a whole lot more complicated.
Because now we’re accepting, “Well, this is what guys coming out of their ELCs who scored at this level are worth now.” It used to be that your Halls, Saads, Barkovs, and Eberles set the market in the neighborhood of a $6 million AAV. That made sense just a month ago. But now you look at what Draisaitl pulled from Edmonton management — hell, look at what Kuznetsov, a very good player who’s also a few years older, snagged as one of the last guys worth paying in Washington.
It’s understandable that people would be hesitant to give a 21-year-old $8 million or more, but the Bruins didn’t have a problem giving Tyler Seguin $5.75 million and six years back in 2013-14. Turns out they had a problem with the player, for what the local media would have you believe is myriad reasons, but that’s a separate issue. There are no such problems with Pastrnak; he seems to throw checks at a rate sufficient for Boston brass, at the very least, and he scored a couple goals in the playoffs.
If it cost that much to play ball with a high-end talent like Seguin four years ago (it’s equivalent to about $7.3 million in today’s dollars), one supposes that $8 million isn’t an outlandish starting point for Pastrnak, who you’re probably not going to use to power his own line any time soon. That’s clearly the plan in Edmonton, but that Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak line is such a brutal force (they had a CF% of about 62 together last season, which is so far beyond phenomenal it’s tough to compute) that while you might want to redistribute that talent given the cost, it’s tough to justify. Not that Pastrnak would suddenly become any sort of lesser player — his under-lyings are all strong even when playing with inferior talent, though obviously nowhere near what he does with the big group — but the value for these three guys together is so high that Bruce Cassidy would be foolish to try getting too cute here.
The idea that the Bruins would trade this guy is silly. How many top-end early-20s guys can they justify trading away in a decade? The team is committed to keeping him, especially because they want to play up-tempo hockey and few can skate like Pastrnak. But that comes with the acknowledgement that if they wanted to keep the price down, well, that boat should have been pushed out quite a while ago.
Tough to say for sure whether foot-dragging on the team or the player led to Aug. 21 without a deal getting done, but that Kuznetsov extension got signed July 2, so there wasn’t a ton of time for the Bruins to set the market for good young forwards. Again, this comes with the acknowledgement that Kuznetsov is three years older and the Caps were buying more UFA seasons, even if that’s apparently starting to matter less in the grand scheme of things.
Nonetheless, Pastrnak was wise to be patient, especially because there was no way the Bruins could justify trading a player like this again.
The good news for now is that Boston has the cap space to add Pastrnak at even $8.5 million, and that if you lock him up for eight years you’ve got him for basically the entirety of his 20s. On the other hand, you can see where the Bruins might want to keep that price tag down because they already have four forwards carrying AAVs of more than $6 million. And the problem is two of them are Davids Krejci and Backes, both locked in for four more seasons and basically untradeable because they wouldn’t be worth a price point that’s significantly lower than what they actually make (i.e. Boston couldn’t even retain salary and expect someone to bite).
Indeed, the Bruins are in the same sort of position as the Oilers insofar as they’ve allocated a lot of dollars to a lot of players who aren’t all that good. Even beyond Krejci and Backes ($13.25 million combined, woof), they have three more years of Matt Beleskey — he of three goals last season — at $3.8 million. And Adam McQuaid and Kevan Miller are at $5.25 million combined. They also have buyouts for Dennis Seidenberg and Jimmy Hayes on the books for three and two more years, respectively.
This is basically a situation like Draisaitl’s. The GM should call the agent and say, “What does he want?” And then he should just give him that number. The Bruins can’t really afford to dither around here, specifically because of what they can afford to spend.
Hammering out a bridge deal when you have more than $10 million in cap space available doesn’t make a ton of sense either logistically or logically. For whom would you be saving that money? Pastrnak is the only guy they need to sign, unless they want to take a run at one of the few remaining worthwhile UFAs and, for some reason, give him a bunch of money on a short-term deal.
While the goalposts have certainly moved back a couple million dollars and years, this eventuality had to be acknowledged as a possibility. Waiting was always likely to result in a bigger payday, but it circles back to the idea that you gotta pay your stars and find ways to save elsewhere on the roster. That’s doubly true if those stars are in their early 20s.
So what’s the issue? You know this kid can play and you know what ‘capital-P Players’ his age cost now.
There’s no real problem here. Or at least there wouldn’t be if you could totally trust the Bruins to not-trade guys like this.
It’s an easy decision. Get out the checkbook. Why are we still talking about this?
What We Learned
Anaheim Ducks: It’s really hard to score 30 goals, man. Really hard. To do it consistently from year to year takes a huge talent level. I think Rickard Rakell is great, but I dunno if he’s that great.
Arizona Coyotes: That Coyotes defense. Hoo boy. Ekman-Larsson, Goligoski and Hjalmarsson is a strong top-three but then their next-best guy is Kevin Connauton.
Boston Bruins: Yeah, no pressure, kid. They just want you to take over from Zdeno Chara after this season.
Buffalo Sabres: Imagine looking at 19-year-old first-round pick with four NHL games under his belt and saying, “This kid might be a bust!”
Calgary Flames: Hey Glen, I wanna have $5 million dollars but we can’t always get what we want, bud.
Carolina Hurricanes: Wait, were we supposed to think Bill Peters was on the hot seat or something?
Chicago: The answer to this question is in the ages of the players when the contracts went into effect, and the quality of those players. Edmonton got a much better deal for McDavid/Draisaitl than Chicago did for Toews/Kane.
Colorado Avalanche: Hey, a new AHL team. That’s fun.
Columbus Blue Jackets: Seems like Columbus is basically done for the summer… except for that whole “We have to re-sign Josh Anderson and Alex Wennberg” thing. Which, to me, seems like a big deal.
Dallas Stars: Hockey teams always seem to do well in these things. Not sure why.
Detroit Red Wings: Ahh, hmm, well…
Edmonton Oilers: Yeah, $6 million is a lot to spend on your No. 3 center.
Florida Panthers: Jonathan Huberdeau, recently inducted into his QMJHL team’s hall of fame, could have a real good season in 2017-18.
Los Angeles Kings: The Kings know they need offense but not the kind of offense Jaromir Jagr provides. Okay, have fun out there.
Minnesota Wild: Funny that the Canadiens haven’t gotten this message.
Montreal Canadiens: Wow, Tony Hawk got to meet Youppi!
Nashville Predators: I gotta say: Slow down.
New Jersey Devils: Not that I’m any sort of Travis Zajac fan but this team could be really rotten again now.
New York Islanders: Yeah I guess if Eberle and Tavares do their ’09 WJC act again and average like two and a half points a game each, that’ll work out well.
New York Rangers: There’s a reason they should have put this guy on Mount Rushmore, baby!!!
Ottawa Senators: The only reason I’m excited for another season of Senators hockey is the dang Karlsson show, folks!
Philadelphia Flyers: Is Jori Lehtera a difference-maker? Man, I don’t know. Sure, why not?
Pittsburgh Penguins: Will Butcher really seems to be going to one of Pittsburgh or Buffalo. Those are the two teams you heard about through this whole process.
San Jose Sharks: Man, what a nightmare.
St. Louis Blues: Man, what a different kind of nightmare.
Tampa Bay Lightning: If the Lightning wanted to support long-time losers they’d be sharing revenue with the Canucks.
Toronto Maple Leafs: They’re not signing Tavares! Get over it!
Vancouver Canucks: I can’t bear to read this.
Vegas Golden Knights: Here’s an idea – Expand to Salt Lake City before Quebec City!!!
Washington Capitals: Philip Grubauer is gonna be a backup in Washington forever.
Winnipeg Jets: I’m really on the fence about whether Steve Mason is what’s going to get this team on track, and that’s not because of Mason. I just don’t think they have to coaching. I think that’s been the issue for years.

3 P-Bruins Forwards Who Could Make NHL Roster
As the Boston Bruins prepare for the 2016-17 season, they'll look to fill several spots in their forward group. While searching for a new winger to slide onto David Krejci's left wing, the B's also try to fill several bottom six spots - particularly on the right wing, where two spots are up for...

BOSTON | Bruins beat Blackhawks 6-3, snap Chicago's 7-game win streak
BOSTON | Bruins beat Blackhawks 6-3, snap Chicago’s 7-game win streak
BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins needed someone to replace David Pastrnak‘s production while their leading scorer recovers from thumb surgery.
For one night, at least, they found the solution: just about everyone. David Krejci, Danton Heinen and Brad Marchand each scored during a four-minute span at the end of the first period and the Boston Bruins beat the Blackhawks 6-3 on Tuesday night to snap…

Ramblings: Wheeler Scoring Goals, Crosby Lugging the Pens, Aho, Stamkos & Kakko (March 6)
The Canes and Bruins met on Tuesday with both teams salivating over the two points. The Hurricanes are trying to stay up on the Wild Card teams, while the Bruins attempt to keep a leg up on the charging Maple Leafs.
Sebastian Aho scored the first two goals of this game bringing his season total to 29. That matches the mark he set a season ago as a sophomore. The 21-year-old has been magnificent in 2018-19, but especially in the back half. His 41 points in 32 games since December 23rd sit fourth in the league behind Patty Kane (51), Nikita Kucherov (51), and Sidney Crosby (45).
Heading into this season, Aho was drafted somewhere between the fifth and seventh rounds. Does anyone see him slipping out of round two next year?
  **
The Hurricanes allowed the next three goals– including a Patrice Bergeron shorthanded tally. After Justin Williams tied things at three, we went to overtime. There, David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk continued their torrid play, connecting on the OT winner.
Since David Pastrnak went down with a thumb injury on February 12th, Krejci has 11 points in nine games, while the 22-year-old, DeBrusk has 12.
Marcus Johansson left this game and did not return. That could be good news for Danton Heinen owners who were likely expecting their asset to slide out of the top six when Pasta returned.
Jaroslav Halak grabbed the victory as the Bruins continue to give both netminders a regular rotation leading up to the post-season.
**
The Sens took on the Isles and Craig Anderson looked to put a 10-game losing streak in the rear-view mirror. You read that right, the 37-year-old hadn’t posted a victory since December 17.
Over that same time frame, 90 other netminders have recorded a victory – including Andrei Vasilevskiy’s 21 victories.
In predictable fashion, Anderson and the Senators found a way to lose this one too but at least they made it to the shootout. The Isles took the 5-4 win with a team effort. 10 players recorded a point, while Robin Lehner won his 21st game of the season.
Both Lehner and Thomas Greiss have 0.928 save percentages. That’s good for a share of the third-best mark in the league for goaltenders with at least 20 games played.
  Barry Trotz, ladies and gentlemen.
  **
If the Penguins are going to make the playoffs it’ll be on the back of their captain. With a goal and two assists on Tuesday, Crosby has 13 points in his last five games – including a goal in each of those contests. Hell, he has 24 points in his last 12 games!
The 31-year-old now sits fourth in league scoring and is on pace for 108 points in 79 games. Yet somehow it's likely he ends up outside of the top three producers.
  I love it.
Here’s a look at the beautiful aerial dish he gave to Jake Guentzel on the winner. That stands as Guentzel's 33rd tally of the season. Another young star.

In the marquee matchup of the evening, Winnipeg and Tampa Bay squared off in Florida. These are two heavyweights, but it was the Lightning who did most of the punching on Tuesday defeating the Jets 5-2.
Stamkos (1+1), and Kucherov (0+2) led the way for the Bolts who now sit with a 51-12-4 record. With 15 games to play, the Lightning need 12 more victories to set the all-time wins record held by the 1995-96 Red Wings.
With his first period tally, Blake Wheeler scored his sixth goal in the Jets previous 70 minutes of hockey. Not bad for a pure setup guy.
  {source}<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Nice backhand set up by Patrik Laine on the Blake Wheeler tally. That's six goals for Wheeler in his last 3.5 periods. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/GoJetsGo?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#GoJetsGo</a> <a href="https://t.co/IUeGbhY5Yy">pic.twitter.com/IUeGbhY5Yy</a></p>— /Cam Robinson/ (@Hockey_Robinson) <a href="https://twitter.com/Hockey_Robinson/status/1103097053272371200?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 6, 2019</a></blockquote><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}
Connor Hellebuyck left the game after taking a Kucherov slapper right off the mask resulting in a cut. Laurent Brossoit came off the bench in relief and gave up a Stamkos tally almost immediately.
  https://dobberhockey.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/03/Stamkos-1T.mp4
Hellebuyck returned to the cage a few moments later and didn’t appear to be suffering any ill effects from the blow.

Obligatory 2019 draft talk!
Kaapo Kakko scored another goal this morning in Finnish Liiga action. It’s his eighth in his last eight games, and he has 13 in his last 15 contests. His 20 goals in 41 games are one behind Sasha Barkov’s U18 scoring record.
This kid is making a serious push to go first overall this June in Vancouver.
Of note, he’s been playing exclusively on the wing the past couple of months after dabbling down the middle to close out 2018.
    **
Cam Atkinson recorded his career-best 36th goal of the season on Tuesday, while Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 29 as Columbus defeated New Jersey 2-1 in a shootout.
The 29-year-old, Atkinson has been extremely consistent this season, but you can’t help but wonder what his future production holds. With the impending loss of Artemi Panarin, and Matt Duchene likely willing to weigh his options, it could be down to the studs in Ohio.
  **
Ben Bishop made 28 stops, John Klingberg scored a second-period even-strength tally, and the Stars shutout the Rangers 1-0.
Alexander Georgiev made his second consecutive start for New York and played well in this one stopping 31/32. the Rangers are likely trying to gauge what they have in the 23-year-old Russian netminder. With Igor Shestyorkin slated to cross the pond this summer, there may be a logjam for NHL ice.
**
Anaheim dealt Arizona their first loss in seven games, and also a big blow to their playoffs chances with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday. The Yotes sit two points behind Minny for the final Wild Card spot.
Darcy Kuemper lost for just the second time in two months. Here's hoping you grabbed him when we told you too before the calendar flipped to 2019.
  **
Filip Zadina scored the first of many NHL goals on Tuesday evening. The 19-year-old had been rolling nicely in the American League before earning this recall. He skated on a line with Andreas Athanasiou and Luke Glendening at even-strength and tallied this one on the power play.
  {source}<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">First career goal alert <a href="https://twitter.com/filip_zadina?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@filip_zadina</a> <a href="https://t.co/8q92gdplQz">pic.twitter.com/8q92gdplQz</a></p>— NHL GIFs (@NHLGIFs) <a href="https://twitter.com/NHLGIFs/status/1103152971041439744?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 6, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>{/source}
However, it was Nate MacKinnon who provided the victory for the Avs in overtime. Mikko Rantanen set him up for his third point of the evening. Now imagine adding Jack Hughes or Kaapo Kakko to this lineup next season.
  It's going to happen.
  **
The Canadiens took on Kings in sunny California on Tuesday evening. They did so without the league’s youngest player, as Jesperi Kotkaniemi was a healthy scratch. It’s the first time the 18-year-old has sat in the press box this season, as coach, Claude Julien expressed some concern that fatigue was creeping into his game.
It should be noted that the youngster suited up in 84 total games last season – split between the Finnish Liiga and international tournaments. Prior to that, his career-high had been 41 contests. Despite averaging just 14 minutes a night with Montreal this season, the wear of 66 NHL games for a rookie is real.
There shouldn’t be any concerns about Kotkaniemi moving forward. He’s a spectacular playmaker with a bright future.
The Habs took care of the lowly Kings 3-1 with Carey Price recording his 28th victory. Price now sits with a 0.918 save percentage on the season – jumping him into the top-10 amongst regular starters. It's been a solid bounce-back campaign for the 31-year-old.
