1. ships that fit it

right now i am obsessed with alex cyprin x mc from astoria: fate's kiss. i just-- aaa them. alex is a demigod and child of aphrodite and mc is human. what i find super interesting about them is (in addition to the best trope, alex being her boss) they were childhood friends as well. so alex is a super young immortal. i feel like there's so much you can do with that and something not many stories have explored. they also parallel and carry the trauma of their parents, MC's mother was involved with Aphrodite, but she passed away and left a lot of things in her wake and left alex with a lot of things to think about. AAA.

i also freaking adore Twilestia from MLP. there's that gentle adoration there and i think celestia would hesitate to act on it at first but as time goes on its just the obvious thing.

hylink from zelda hits the feels. it's almost like they're both immortal, but they aren't. every link is different but she loves him the same. or she loved one of them above the rest and can't help seeing his face in every one of them. aa.

trephacard from castlevania is another one that tugs my heart in every direction. see also draculisa.

another is raysu from raya and the last dragon!! they're so adorable. and very gay in the german dub especially.

2. general opinion on it

I love it!!! It's such a bittersweet trope. I think the idea of loving someone for the time you have with them, accepting that you will have to watch them grow old and die and loving them despite that, it's super romantic. it really digs deep into the "loving you for you" thing. and then the (usually inevitable) tragic ending and promising to love that person forever even after they die. yeah.

3. ships that don't fit but i would read

i love this trope and it could honestly go for so many ships.

i am fond of "phoenix is actually a phoenix" AUs, and maya has all kinds of magical shenanigans going on, so it could work for either half of narumayo really interestingly.

glimweaver could be really interesting, especially because glimmer's mom was immortal. either SW is immortal and glimmer has to come to terms with the fact that she can't keep a leash on her forever or glimmer is immortal and SW has to come to terms with the fact that glimmer will watch her grow weaker. and she can't worship the queen forever. (with their significant age difference that second one may have to play out anyways, but glimmer being forever 20 might make it more distinct).

ineffable husbands has the opposite problem, wherein they're both immortal. maybe one of them rejecting heaven or hell would make them mortal, and they'd both have to come to terms with that after their 6000 year relationship? fucking ow!!! love that.

Oscar Trailer: (Team Oxalis)

The sun beams down with golden light atop an emerald canopy, blanketing the woods with its warm embrace while at its end stands a stone structure. Sitting high atop an ancient grass cracked building stands two middle aged people. A man with messy silver locks, and a woman with wavy blonde hair in a tight-nit bun. These two people are the headmaster, and vice headmistress of Beacon academy respectively. Professor Ozpin, and Glynda Goodwitch now shuffle on the stone, gazing at a screen restless, pacing lightly as they follow the progress of one short stature boy.

"Are you sure about this Ozpin? Do you truly think Oscar is ready for this?" Though her voice cane out even, her hands gripped her riding crop tightly. Feeling its handle dig deep within her palm. Ozpin's brows furrowed before he went for a sip of his cocoa. Taking in a quick drink, the chocolate on his tongue turned bitter quick as he gazed upon his partner and back to the screen.

"Believe me, I've asked myself that same question many times." He paused, as if tasting for the right way to say this. "But whether we like it or not, she won't give us that time."

"He's only 13 Ozpin! He shouldn't have to fight like this so young!" Glynda said exasperated.

"I wish he didn't, but he has to learn to protect himself, if not now then when?" Sighing, Ozpin began again. "Have faith in him please, he's stronger than we give him credit for, i know he will succeed, he's our son after all."

"Huff, that's what makes me even more worried, but I hope you're right" she finished

Speaking of which, a boy with tanned skin, and a mop of messy black hair struts through the winding vines and roots about him. His hazel eyes frantically looking in each direction while his orange gloves hands squeezes the floral etched hilt in his hands. Taking in a deep breath, the scent of pine and dew fills his lungs while at the sound pf a crow's call, a blood curdling growl echoes all around. Snapping his eyes open, Oscar ground to a halt and watches sickening red eyes glaring back at him. Shining through the shadows like a ruby in the sun. Smirking as the drumming feet drew closer to him, Oscar unfurled The long memory's shaft and stood ready.

Thump, thump, thump pounds their feet, as a mangled bear of bones and inky flesh splinters the wood. Charging dead straight as the ursa surround this freckled boy. Approaching ever closer with their gnarled fangs and razor sharp claws, they get as close as a hair onto the boy, but that's all. As with one motion, using the cane as a spring, the green clothed boy leapt from the sleuth of ursa and towards a tree branch. Feet touching the supple wood, the cane wielder leaps once more, aiming at one of the ursa, cracking the cane's black shaft across an ursa's jaw, careening them into a tree thanks to its previous motion.

Not a moment to lose, the other members charge at his flanks, dropping to low run, Oscar feels his adrenaline spike as he rushes towards the one on his left, it's massive paws reflected in his glasses as he rushed forward. Knowing a test of strength wouldn't work, he instead used the beast's size against itself. Sliding under its last attack, with dirt and grass flung into the air, Oscar gives a bright yell before striking the beast's hind leg.

Tripping it forward only to be caught in the maw of its fellow grim. Turning to a black dust as the ursa from earlier made its second warpath. Not learning from its previous encounter, the boy shrugged and ran forward, rushing up the trunk of a nearby tree before kipping back as again this Ursa rushed forward. Flipping into the air, Oscar yelled and thrusted his cane into the back of the ursa's neck. Killing it dead with one last strike.

Falling into a roll, the boy rested on his knee, using the cane for support as he motioned the Grimm to follow him. Tearing and vaulting through the trees, Oscar led the Grimm into a maze of branches only to be stopped by a large bush of thorns. As soon the two pack members left stalked him more and more. Slowly approaching the boy as they snarled and snapped with glee. Thinking they finally had the pipsqueak cornered. Giving a sheepish grin, Oscar slowly walked around the small clearing, approaching the thorny mound more and more as the from got closer and closer. Their sludge like forms as they ran for all their worth. Thinking they finally had this annoying human in their grasps, but as they both dove, Oscar jumped between their gap, spinning like a top in between the two Ursa, cracking the cane up into an uppercut, and a strike on top of both Grimm's heads respectively, sending them tumbling into the thorny brambles. Until they finally dissipated.

Slumping in relief, Oscar sat on the ground breathlessly looking up as his now arriving parents with a beaming smile.

Huff "so, how did I do?" He asked brightly

I don’t normally talk about ships in any fandom due to my knowledge that fans can be…. toxic when it comes to them.

So I tend to just stick towards family more not just because toxic fans make me uncomfortable but also because I just gravitate towards platonic family/friendships more due to me being aromantic and valuing friendship and family far more important then romance.

But in the occasions that I do think of ships it’s mainly only Rosegarden and Ozglyn.

And as I just got done watching a movie from my childhood that I adore with all my heart called Barbie and the Island Princess, and listening to the gorgeous song “I Need To Know” (y’all need to listen to it, the harmonies…. Good lord it’s gorgeous) when I was suddenly smacked upside the head that this would be a good and wholesome AU for Rosegarden.

A quick summary of the movie: Shipwrecked as a child, Rosella grows up on the island under the watchful eyes of her loving animal friends. The arrival of Prince Antonia leads Rosella and her furry pals to explore civilisation and ultimately save the kingdom by uncovering a secret plot.

Now my thinking, I have two scenarios or this.

#1. Keep the plot and have Ruby play the island Princess

OR

#2 also keep the plot but change it and simply make Oscar the Island Prince instead, who’s was lost at sea after a storm tossed him overboard his father’s ship, King Ozpin.

(Yes we are also Dadpinning up in this bich, sue me I can’t help it 😂.)

Both of them are equally wholesome and if im being honest, I’m leaning towards Oscar because Oscar living on an island with his animal friends, then meeting Ruby, the first female ever in his life after he lost his memory. It’s too wonderful to not think about.

Nothing will probably come out of this post. But it’s fun to think about

What Your Favorite RWBY Ship Says About You (with a dash of salt)

Why? Because I felt like it. Inspired by that one guy on YouTube who talks about ships in various shows. I haven’t watched his RWBY one, so I don’t think I have to worry about mimicking what he said in that video.

I try to be as unbiased as possible, but there’s only so much I can do if a ship is problematic or if the shippers can be really distasteful a lot of the time. There’s a reason the subtitle “with a dash of salt” is there.

Also, I don’t think I got every ship name right, so feel free to correct me if I got the name wrong. The wikis weren’t exactly helpful. Hope you enjoy!

angsty hc. my favourite backstory for glynda is her being the child of the atlas nobility, expected to carry on the family name in stature & position, privilege. stepping on the lower classes meant nothing to them. glynda never wanted to live like that, & as soon as she could, disowned her family & ran away to beacon, picking the last name goodwitch for herself. her parents died before any reconciliation could be attempted.

random hc. glynda's earrings are her " good luck charm ", she doesn't 100% believe it but whenever something good in her life happens, it's always with her earrings on.

general opinion. i really like glynda !! i think she's the fun type of teacher character who clearly cares about these kids but is also the hardass they need to realize that this isn't a game, especially when contrasted with ozpin's laisse faire attitude to things. i really hope we see more of her soon.

Warning: I am brand new to roleplaying! This blog is only a year old. So please keep this in mind if you prefer a more experienced partner.

General Rules:

This blog is now selective. This change is coming in light of multiple problems over the past year and to ensure I am actually enjoying myself I will be implementing some new rules.

Etiquette          Respect and manners are a must if you wish to interact with me in anyway. I will not tolerate bullying and quite frankly have better things to do than entertain trolls. Additionally, I try to make a point of not saying anything if I don’t have anything nice to say. I have no interest in arguing over ships. If you dislike OzGlyn that is absolutely fine, but I don’t want to hear about it in the context of a pointless argument.

There are no second chances. If the line is crossed I will simply block.

On Blocking    I have actually become much happier since I started to block blogs to prevent undesirable content from popping up in the tags. Xkit isn’t absolute and content will still show up if things aren’t tagged. The kinds of content I am referring to is variable but mostly it involves sexualization of under aged characters or ships between and adult and a child.

This is somewhat of problem with my muse, and I do say problem because pedophilia is absolutely disgusting and I personally want nothing to do with it. Teacher/student romantic/sexual relationships are also something I will avoid. So, if you post this kind of content and it pops up on my dash or in the tags I frequent I will block you.

On following    I like to keep the number of blogs I follow to a minimum to keep my dash clear. It makes it a lot easier for me to complete my replies and it also allows me to manage the content on my dash much easier. The RWBY fandom has variable tastes and naturally I am not amicable to a lot of them. I use xkit to block certain tags but sometimes that isn’t enough.

So please note that if you follow and I do not follow you back that does not necessarily mean I am not interested in a potential thread. I only follow blogs I interact with on a regular basis and even then my follow list is mostly Ozpin blogs.

If I do follow you however, that is a sure sign that I would like to rp with you.

Roleplay Partners and Threads:

Original Characters (OCs):    Due to the fact that interactions with many OC blogs have been an utter disaster, this blog is supremely OC selective. What this means is that I am not open to threads with OC muses unless your blog is accepted. If you have an OC muse and you would like to have a thread what I will ask you to do is PM me and either provide links or paste information right into the chat about your character. I want to know the basics like age and their history and also a bit about who they are and what kind interactions with Glynda you are looking for. Pitch me the story and if I like it we are good to go. I am very picky and some things to keep in mind are firstly my rules on shipping etc. I will not rp with a muse not based in or adapted to the RWBY universe. If your muse is a student, again, check my rules and keep the characteristics of my muse in mind. Glynda is a very professional and rather chilly woman at times. She is not going to have casual interactions with a younger individual.

Reblogs, memes, and tags:    If I reblog a meme feel free to send me something. Please just keep my rules in mind. Some memes will only be open to Ozpin blogs (see shipping), however this will be clearly tagged. If it isn’t tagged that means it is open and anyone can respond.

Shipping:         This blog will ship with Ozpins only. What this means is that if you wish to have a romantic/sexual or NSFW thread with Glynda your muse must be an Ozpin. No offence to your muse, but she simply isn’t interested in anyone else for a variety of reasons. I know this doesn’t make for a very popular blog and that is just fine with me.

If you are an Ozpin blog and wish to have a NSFW thread please note I will only smut with someone who is 21+. The reason for this is the nature of Ozpin’s character. He is an older man and certain aspects of his character require a bit of knowledge and maturity that Glynda needs to keep the thread interesting. Also, mun is old (26).

Any romantic threads that are not with an Ozpin will be one sided. By all means come at her with your best shot, just don’t expect too much. James Ironwood muses will be the only instance of blurred lines and that is a very touchy subject.

Note: If you are an Ozpin blog we do not have to ship. Her feelings do not need to ever come up or be acknowledged. It is simply something to keep in mind.

This is what happens when I wake up super-early on a weekend: I take the other ideas I’d written down for Student!OzGlyn drawings, and I go to town.

I know OzGlyn Week is over, but let’s just consider this a bonus entry, shall we?

Now I want to talk a bit about each one of these:

1. Ozpin in a ponytail - If there is one thing I know about shoulder-length hair, it’s that it is still very difficult to manage. And knowing I gave Ozpin long-ish hair, I just knew he would inevitably deal with the struggle of being focussed on writing something, but then having his hair fall out from behind his shoulders or ears and obscure his view. Actually, it’s the very thing that happened to me as I was drawing the Student! OzGlyn designs! I resolved the problem by tying my hair in a ponytail, then thought of a cute little scene where Glynda does the same for Ozpin (since she wears a ponytail, she knows the virtues of having it). Needless to say, Ozpin is very grateful (although it’s hard to say whether it’s for her help or for her compliment).

2. Glynda’s cat - This was prompted by a headcanon from @esperhuntress, who I still regard as the queen of OzGlyn. Her idea is that Glynda has a pet black cat named Handsome. Being myself a cat-lover and a sucker for witches and their black cats, I fully accept this headcanon and decided to draw a little snippet of it. Also because it was International Cat Day a few days ago and this is my late celebration of it. Also because the Internet needs more happy Glynda. Also because can you just imagine Glynda Goodwitch babytalking?!

3. Glasses - My personal headcanon: the very first thing Glynda fixed for Ozpin was his glasses, after some stupid bullies broke them (there’s actually a fanfic following this same idea and it’s adorable). On that note, don’t break people’s glasses guys, that’s just a d*** move. We may not all be as blind as bats without them, but we still need them (I say “we” because I myself wear glasses). Also, this is another reason Ozpin has a scarf: he uses it to clean his and Glynda’s spectacles.

4. Combat skirt - I like to think that Glynda is the founding member of the prestigious Combat Skirt Club, which Weiss, Ruby and Nora will join much later. As such, I believe that she had first-hand experience of the inconveniences of this piece of clothing. Yes, I know, this is such an anime cliche, but I thought it’d be funny (and it is), it was fun to draw, it provides a reason for why Glynda no longer wears a combat skirt (at least not the kind Ruby, Nora and Weiss wear), and it gives me a chance to draw Ozpin nosebleeding! XD

5. Automaton - One of my headcanons for Ozpin is that, before he got involved in the whole wizard business of saving the world by becoming a huntsman, he wanted to be an engineer or an inventor of sorts, but not with modern technology. Rather he had a great interest in clockworks and similarly older technology (an interest that still carried over to when he was an adult), so the machines he made as a teenager were based very little on dust and more on gears and wheels and...well, clockworks. Basically, very steampunk stuff. His favourite things to make were automata, which are basically robots without electricity. Those of you who know the story “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” will no doubt recognize this. Anyways, here Ozpin is showing one of his automatons to Glynda, one of the few in did put dust in: a small, beautifully colourful and bejewelled-looking peacock that’s actually made of a glass-like substance on the outside so that the glow from small fragment of dust on the inside can be seen. And because the peacock is very colourful, the light it emits is very colourful too. Basically, it’s like a lamp of coloured glass but in the shape of a peacock that can actually move around. Glynda is rightly amazed.

6. Not a couple - Another cliché, but I’m a sucker for it! Also, can you guys tell by now how much I LOVE drawing blushy faces? Because I really love doing it! XD

Everyone has a right to ship whatever they want (within reason, like no pedo ships those cross the line) and they shouldn’t be scrutinized for liking something just cause others don’t.

I’m a proud shipper of Rosegarden, I also highly adore Ozglyn, and prefer Qrow and Oz to be simply friends, while also thinking Hummingbird is adorable as hecky. And I also don’t ship Bumbleby however, I do recognized why others (the non toxic ones) do and are happy very for them

I think the thing that has been lost in the years when it comes to shipper is: respect. I’m 27 years old, I’m considered old, and I remember a time years ago, back in the 90s and the 2000’s where shipping wars, accusations of homophobia, and cyber bullying were a thing. As a child I remember going on hundreds of forums where people would say what they shipped and other people, while they didn’t agree, respected that person anyway.

I think that’s the most heartbreaking thing about this generation now, is that it’s lost it’s respect for human decency. To be able to look someone in the eye and say “I may disagree but I respect you all the same”

I feel like people only ship whiterose because it's gay and only ship rosegarden because it's interracial (or it "subverts gender roles" or whatever). You just don't want to admit that if you take the wokeness out of it lancaster is the only ship that makes sense, but no you can't have a straight cis white boy find love, it has to be the rich white girl or the poor brown kid 🙄 also why do rg shippers insist ruby's bi? Wouldn't you rather her be straight so she ends up with oscar?

People ship both for myriad reasons, but even if someone only ships Whiterose because it's gay, or Rosegarden because it's interracial/gnc, that's fine. When you live in a world with very little decent representation, it's exciting to hope for some, or fun to enjoy it in fanon. I won't sit here and list the reasons WR and RG are enjoyable ships outside of "wokeness" because that's not the point. People enjoy things for different reasons and that's okay. It's fine if you think Lancaster is the most likely to be canon, but you don't have to think a ship will be canon in order to ship it.

And why do most Rosegarden shippers headcanon Ruby and Oscar as LGBTQ+? Because why not? A huge portion of RG shippers are queer, but get attacked with "ew, het" and accusations of homophobia for not preferring WR, since f/m ships are often conflated as straight, so holding those headcanons is a way for us to enjoy our queerness while also enjoying the ship regardless of canon orientations, because guess what? Queer m/f relationships exist. Saying we should want Ruby to be straight so she ends up with Oscar is just biphobia, plain and simple. You don't have to rule out every other ship by process of elimination to be left with whichever has "the most basis" or any other benchmark to "prove" why yours is better. Your ship existing doesn't mean others' can't or shouldn't, and vice versa. It's not a threat to you.

I don't ship Lancaster, but I'm glad you get enjoyment out of it, and I would love to listen to someone ramble excitedly about them. Heck, that's how I eventually wound up liking Rosegarden -- by listening to what it is about the pair people enjoy :) I adored Nuts and Dolts from the beginning -- and I still do! -- but even when Penny died (either time), I was never attacked/shamed for shipping them despite it not having a chance in canon. I love Brighteyes even though it's 100% a crack ship, cause who cares? It's cute! I used to ship Whiterose (or at least wanted to see it develop into something I would ship), but when I realized I like their friendship even more, I was told that made me lesbophobic for "downgrading" their bond.

Friendships are just as important and strong as romantic relationships. The reason there are people who love all these different pairings is because they're all people who matter to Ruby. This isn't a competition for "who does Ruby care about the most?" and treating it like it is diminishes the whole found family aspect of the show.

So can we all just. Stop fighting over what ships give us dopamine?
