"Mayumi Ozaki raises her middle finger and provokes the audience. Do you know the meaning of the so-called 'f*ck' sign?"

Got two obscure matches to talk about
billy ken kid vs. ryuya matsufusa (osaka light heavyweight title) - osaka pro 07/01/24 - 4.25 stars
akino vs mio momono (oz academy openweight title) - oz academy 07/01/24 - 4.25 stars
BKK vs ryuya is actually on youtube
youtube
last match here or around 1 hour 27 minutes in.
also in the mio vs akino match theres a spot where mio does the usual victory roll into a double stomp that all joshis do, but then instead of going for the pin she did it 3 time and that legitmately fucking ruled.
I think my 3.5+ star ratings will be for smaller/lesser known/indie promotions this year, and ill only mention 4.75+ star matches when it comes to AEW/TNA.
Yeah, thats the plan, if i dont mention an AEW match but you're curious about how I feel about said match, ask away, please do, because I can talk about wrestling forever.

Sareee for Your Damn Luck
What do you when you've been denigrated, had your time wasted, and ultimately let go by a company that arguably represents the peak of your profession but also never understood your strengths or your values? You might be tempted to wallow in misery, question who you are fundamentally, or give up and try something else. Or you might choose to prove them wrong.
Nine years after her debut, Sareee signed with WWE in 2020 alongside other wrestlers like Hideki Suzuki, Priscilla Kelly (now Gigi Dolan), Elayna Black (now Cora Jade), Anthony Henry, Blake Christian, and Christian Casanova in another great hoovering up of talent by WWE.
Renamed Sarray in NXT, she wrestled 23 matches between 2021 and 2022, mostly in short matches on NXT and 205 Live. The most notable part of her tenure was the decision to dress her like a schoolgirl and have her be a magical girl who could unleash the power of the sun from her amulet.

She was released by WWE after her contract expired. She then raised some eyebrows when she signed a multi-year contract (for whatever that contract is worth) with Sukeban, the American independent wrestling company that tried (is still trying?) to present joshi puroresu in a package the promoters think would be more palatable to American tastes. Witness VENY become Venomous Veny and Sareee become Sareee Bomb. In October 2024, Sareee Bomb became the Sukeban World Champion, so at least they recognized Sareee's value more than WWE did; after all, at least Sukeban didn't foist a magical girl gimmick onto Sareee.

After an 1,111 days-long stint in WWE and back in Japan, Sareee started promoting her own shows under the Sareee-ISM label and worked everywhere: SEAdLINNNG, Sendai Girls, All Japan Pro Wrestling, ZERO1, World Wonder Ring Stardom, Marvelous, Big Japan Pro Wrestling, OZ Academy, and most prominently, Dream Star Fighting Marigold, the breakaway promotion formed by Rossy Ogawa after he was dismissed from Stardom. The fruits of her labor in 2023 after her departure from WWE and in 2024 include:
Winning the SEAdLINNNG Beyond the Sea Championship
Winning the Marigold World Championship
Selling out venues with her Sareee-ISM shows
Ranked as the 5th best wrestler in the world in the 2024 FSM50
Ranked in the 2024 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards:
- 8th in votes for the Lou Thesz/Ric Flair Wrestler of the Year Award
- 5th in votes for the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award
- 3rd in votes for the Japan MVP
- 9th in votes for the Hodge Award/Non-Heavyweight MVP
- 1st in votes for the Women's Wrestling MVP
- 6th in votes for the Best Booker
- 5th in votes for Promoter of the Year
That's not a bad recovery for the 28 years old Sareee.
So, it's time to check in on the wrestling that has garnered Sareee such acclaim. There simply isn't time to watch everything, but we can at least try to hit the highlights. Hopefully, this will help increase the exposure of Sareee's work, and if nothing else, it means that I should get to watch some great wrestling matches.
