How greed is the main factor driving inflation.
And why didn't the Biden administration rollback the tariffs that the Trump administration set in place, if it would have reduced inflation?
Okay so, unlike MAGA republicans, the Biden administration knows that it's important to listen to expert economists on topics in which they recognize they have a great deal of bias. And the Biden administration knows how to weigh the options available and determine what is best for everyone regardless of political party.
The truth is, removal of the Trump tariffs would only have improved inflation slightly and temporarily, but the cost of removal would possibly come at great risk to the American people. That is what the experts said, and their expertise was what Biden trusted in keeping the tariffs; it was not because they were the magic potion solution to a recovering economy that Trump would have you believe.
Biden's actions, of course, are in great contrast to Trump and let's state just one example, Obamacare. Trump was shown and told many times that repealing Obamacare would result in very negative outcomes for a lot of Americans. Did he give one fuck about that? NO. He tried multiple times to repeal the law completely, and replace it with "a concept of a plan."
Back to inflation.
In the last three years, late 2021 to present, many people saw themselves rethinking their careers and their choices in life - without taking money too much into consideration. Great news for opportunist assholes like Kevin O'Leary.
What happens when a large portion of the population decides to "reinvent" themselves? Usually it means they're willing to take a pay cut to obtain an entry level position in a career they always wanted or wanted to at least try OR it means that they take a leap and try to run their own business.
That's great news to owners and shareholders of large corporations: A large wave of entry level applicants to non-union jobs. Greed dictates, as Kevin O'Leary does, that you should fire the guy working forty-hour weeks and earning his living wage after twenty years of consistent quality work; greed says "fire that guy and hire two new guys at minimum wage and if you can, no overtime pay."
And the greed does not end there.
Using "inflation" as a pretext large corporations were able to drive down the price of labor across the supply chain. Look at how many owner operators in the trucking business went out of business ... Look at why Yellow Logistics went bankrupt - they could not pay the living wage "rate" that the union needed for it's workers. A surplus of available labor in the industry resulted in starvation wages, literally. Read some of the stories out there, there were truckers literally paying to take loads instead of earning from taking loads.
And it wasn't just the truckers, people in the background like freight brokers also took big hits "because ... inflation."
So what did assholes like Kevin O'Leary do to help consumers and small businesses?
Owners and shareholders were enjoying substantial savings in manufacturing labor, transport, retail workers, all granted because "inflation" and people became scared of losing their jobs. Did they pass on the savings to consumers? Sure, in the MAGA world with alternative facts (fiction) that's presumably what they did. In the real world, they jacked up prices ... "because ... inflation."
Small retail business didn't stand a chance either. Large retailers could always negotiate massive discounts on wholesale purchases that mom and pop shops could never leverage to compete with. Anybody starting a small retail business soon found it was better to go out out business than continue to lose money.
So corporate leaders enjoyed substantial savings across the board and continued to raise prices for consumers ...
AND THEN THEY REPORTED RECORD PROFITS! IN SOME INSTANCES, MANY TIMES THEIR WILDEST PROJECTIONS.
Look at the collusion in the meat industry and companies like Pepsi and Coca Cola if you need more details.
Yet, Elon is able to convince half of the American people that "big cuts" are necessary to reduce America's debt. He's certainly not going to cut money that gets funneled to his pockets, for sure. He is going to cut social security and Medicare because we all know how frivolously old people spend their money. I mean, I understand.
It's like Senator Ron Johnson said, "Senior citizens have misused social security and that's why I want it to sunset."
TBH, many a time, I have had to drive to the club ... the strip club ... to drag grandma out of there. She's in there all like "make it rain bitches" while tossing fitties and hundeds in the air and buying everyone round after round of cognac. Grandma is all like, "fitties for them titties"! And I'm all like, "Grandma you incorrigible lesbo! What about your insulin and your rent?!" [I can use the word lesbo because I have zero lesbian friends ... That's not my preference, I just have a "military look" and people make assumptions (not unfounded).]
Anyway, so what do they do when Kamala Harris states that safeguards against price gouging should be rolled out to help the American people, and that corporations should be taxed more to pay for social benefits like health care and education (that will never be paid through bullshit trickle down economics)? They send a complete dumbass anti-Semitic asshole like Mel Gibson to call Kamala Harris low IQ and stupid when it comes to economics.
To clarify, Kamala Harris understands economics much better than Mel Gibson ever will. She also understands greed and what it can drive innocent sounding people to do.
Yes, ideally, corporations would pay zero tax ... But in such an ideal world, everyone employed by the corporation from the janitor to the CEO would earn enough from a forty hour work week (not a one hundred hour work week as proposed by Elon) to afford housing, food, health care, transportation, and everyone would still have a little left over for a Sunday steak dinner with the family and a little entertainment. This ideal world will never come to be, not because it's impossible, but because greedy assholes like Elon don't believe workers "deserve" such an existence as lowly employees.
WE DON'T TAX CORPORATIONS TO BE ASSHOLES, WE TAX THEM BECAUSE WE WANT THEM TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF THE SOCIAL SERVICES THEIR WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES HAVE EARNED.
The people that will suffer the most under Elon's rule on government spending will be the children, the elderly, the mentally or physically disabled. When you cast your vote, have them in mind, and ask yourself how much should they suffer so that Trump, Elon, and their billionaire friends can grow their "ego" wealth.

Excerpt from this story from Inside Climate News:
For the third year in a row, extreme drought conditions in the Midwest are drawing down water levels on the Mississippi River, raising prices for companies that transport goods downstream and forcing governments and business owners to seek alternative solutions.
The situation could signal an emerging reality for the region, scientists say, as climate change alters the planet’s weather patterns and inches the average global temperature continually upwards.
“Without question, it’s discouraging that we’re in year three of this. Because that is quite unique to have multiple years in a row of this,” said Mike Steenhoek, executive director of the Soy Transportation Coalition, a trade organization representing Midwest soy growers. “We’re obviously trending in the wrong direction.”
Since 2022, much of the Midwest has experienced some level of drought, with the driest conditions concentrated in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas. Record rainfall in June and during part of July temporarily broke that dry spell, forecasters say, only for drought conditions to reemerge in recent weeks along the Ohio River basin, which typically supplies more water to the Mississippi than any other major tributary.
Water levels have been dropping in the lower Mississippi since mid-July, federal data shows, reaching nearly eight feet below the historic average in Memphis on Thursday. In October 2023, water levels reached a record-low -12 feet in Memphis. Remnants of Hurricane Francine, which made landfall in Louisiana Wednesday night as a Category 2 storm, “will provide only temporary relief,” the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said in a news release Wednesday.
“Rainfall over the Ohio Valley is also not looking to be widespread and heavy enough to generate lasting effects and anticipate that much of the rainfall will soak into the ground with little runoff,” the agency said in the release.
Those conditions have raised prices for companies transporting fuel and grain down the Mississippi in recent weeks, as load restrictions force barge operators to limit their hauls, which squeezes their profit margin. Barge rates from St. Louis reached $24.62 a ton in late August and $27.49 per ton by the following week, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Steenhoek said barge prices during the week ending Sept. 3 were 8 percent higher than the same week last year and 57 percent higher than the three-year average. “It does change that supply demand relationship,” he said, “because now all of a sudden you’re having to transport a given amount of freight with less capacity.”

Storms roll east after slamming South; 10 deaths reported (AP) A large storm system took aim at the Northeast on Friday, threatening heavy snow and coastal flooding after heavy winds and possible tornadoes damaged homes and buildings, left thousands without power and caused 10 deaths in a wide swath of the South and Midwest. Three people were killed by falling trees in Alabama as severe weather swept through the state. In Mississippi, a woman died inside her SUV after a rotted tree branch struck her vehicle, and in Arkansas a man drowned after he drove into high floodwaters. News outlets reported two people died in Tennessee when trees fell on them. Three weather-related deaths also were reported in Kentucky in three different counties as storms with straight-line winds moved through the state. The National Weather Service in Louisville called the storm Friday “powerful and historic” with peak wind gusts between 60-80 mph (96-128 kph).
Technology Replaces Even The Repo Guy (Car and Driver) While companies like Google and Amazon are looking into autonomous driving technology in order to operate self-driving taxis and freight vehicles, Ford Motors is implementing the technology for a different purpose: repossessing cars. Recently, a Ford patent was formally published outlining a new suite of features in the field of vehicle repos, including a fully self-driving system that could have repo’d Fords drive themselves back to the dealer. The patent includes full- and semi-autonomous systems to aid in car repossession, alongside a few other features that might make holding onto a repo’d vehicle just plain exhausting. For example, Ford could remotely shut off an owner’s access to air conditioning, radio, or cruise control, or even play annoying sounds through the car stereo to ward off an owner from using their car. The systems could even escalate to fully turning off the car’s ability to drive. Most of these intermediary steps would be taken before the car actually up and drives itself back to a dealership.
Argentina inflation seen speeding in 2023, central bank poll shows (Reuters) Argentina’s inflation rate is seen hitting 99.9% in 2023, speeding up from last year’s rate and topping previous estimates which saw a slightly slower rise, according to a central bank poll of analysts released Friday. The forecast, which is 2.3 percentage points above the 2023 rate projected in last month’s poll, comes amid a prolonged financial and social crisis in one of Latin America’s largest economies. The annual inflation rate in 2022 hit 94.8%, according to Argentina’s statistics institute.
In Britain, ‘warm hubs’ emerge to beat soaring energy costs (AP) On a blustery late-winter day in Shakespeare’s birthplace, the foyer of the Other Place theater is a cozy refuge. Visitors are having meetings over coffee, checking emails, writing poetry, learning to sew. It looks and feels like an arty café in the picturesque streets of Stratford-upon-Avon, but it’s a “warm hub” set up by the Royal Shakespeare Company drama troupe to welcome people struggling to heat their homes because of sky-high energy prices. Warm hubs have sprouted across Britain by the thousands this winter as soaring food and energy prices drive millions to turn down the thermostat or skimp on hot meals. Research by the opposition Labour Party counted almost 13,000 such hubs, funded by a mix of charities, community groups and the government and nestled in libraries, churches, community centers and even a tearoom at King Charles III’s Highgrove country estate.
U.N. Russian Official Warns of Nuclear Clashes (Foreign Policy) Speaking at a U.N. conference in Geneva on the subject of nuclear disarmament, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that western support for Ukraine could lead to a nuclear conflict. Ryabkov blamed “the U.S. and NATO policy of fueling the conflict in Ukraine” and warned “increasing involvement in the military confrontation is fraught with a direct military clash of nuclear powers with catastrophic consequences.” That Russian President Vladimir Putin suspended Russian participation in the 2010 New START nuclear treaty was, Ryabkov stressed, a response to this involvement. Ryabkov did say that Russia would continue to respect caps on nuclear weapons under the treaty.
Heavy fighting as Russians advance in Bakhmut (Washington Post) The battle for Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine continued to rage Friday, with Russian forces “constantly hitting the city randomly with artillery, Grads and mortars,” Ukrainian soldier Yuriy Syrotyuk, 46, who is stationed in the north of the city with Ukraine’s Fifth Independent Assault Brigade, said by phone. But Ukrainian forces were still in control of some parts of Bakhmut and have not been ordered to retreat, Syrotyuk said, despite new claims Friday from Yevgeniy Prigozhin, the leader of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, that Russian forces have “practically surrounded” the city. Other Ukrainian soldiers said that further reinforcements were being deployed to Bakhmut, even as some specialized units were told to redeploy to long-planned fallback positions. Ukrainian troops have pleaded for additional support from the West to push back the Russians from the city, whose value has become largely symbolic over the past months as the Ukrainians have resisted ceding territory in the east. One of the greatest challenges continues to be a lack of ammunition.
The E.U. Offered to Embrace Ukraine, but Now What? (NYT) When the European Union offered Ukraine a path to membership last year, it was in many ways an emotional response to the Russian invasion. Leaders were under pressure to show solidarity with the victims of aggression, even though many opposed the idea. Since then, preoccupied with passing sanctions, scrounging up aid and scouring military inventories to send Ukraine weapons, few in Europe have focused seriously on what that commitment might actually mean. But this is a courtship with consequences for the future, not only for Ukraine’s aspirations and survival, but also for Europe’s own security and finances. Ukrainian membership would reshape the bloc and its relationship with a post-conflict Russia. Tensions are already growing between Europe’s desire to maintain its tough requirements and Ukraine’s demand for quick entry into a promised land that has given hope to the embattled country. European Union officials like Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, have been slow-walking expectations for Ukraine, a country that nearly all agree is fundamentally unprepared to join.
Afghan Women, Banned From Working, Can’t Provide for Their Children (WSJ) Since toppling the U.S.-backed government in 2021, the Taliban has introduced a series of restrictions aimed at squeezing women out of public life in Afghanistan. Girls over sixth grade can no longer go to school, Afghan universities no longer accept female students and women are barred from most public-sector jobs. The employment ban is deepening a humanitarian crisis and putting the livelihood of whole families at risk. Widows are especially vulnerable.
Protests break out in Iran over schoolgirl illnesses (Reuters) Worried parents protested in Iran's capital Tehran and other cities on Saturday over a wave of suspected poison attacks that have affected schoolgirls in dozens of schools, according to Iranian news agencies and social media videos. The so-far unexplained illnesses have affected hundreds of schoolgirls in recent months. Iranian officials believe the girls may have been poisoned and have blamed Tehran's enemies. The country's health minister has said the girls have suffered "mild poison" attacks and some politicians have suggested the girls could have been targeted by hardline Islamist groups opposed to girls' education. Sickness affected more than 30 schools in at least 10 of Iran's 31 provinces on Saturday. Videos posted on social media showed parents gathered at schools to take their children home and some students being taken to hospitals by ambulance or buses.
The proud Pakistani tradition of feeding the hungry is strained as food prices soar (NPR) Since the pandemic, Pakistan has been battered by calamities that have pushed up the price of food and fuel: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and two events made more extreme by climate change: a spring heatwave that shriveled harvests, then summer floods that drowned them. Now there’s an economic crisis so dire, the country risks default. Inflation reached nearly 25% last year, but the figure conceals dramatic variations. In poorer rural areas, prices of food rose even higher. Now, the World Food Programme expects that 5.1 million people are likely to be a step away from famine-levels of hunger by the end of March—an increase of 1.1 million people from the previous quarter. “That number is frightening,” says Chris Kaye, the Pakistan country director of the WFP. And it has put a proud Pakistani tradition of feeding the hungry under strain just when it is needed the most.
Why are China’s tech leaders still disappearing if the crackdown is over? (Washington Post) China’s legendary tech dealmaker Bao Fan hasn’t been seen for almost three weeks. Stock prices have plunged for his investment bank China Renaissance, once known for brokering the country’s biggest tech mergers, and all it has said is that Bao is “assisting the government of the People’s Republic of China with an investigation.” Another titan of China’s tech world, Alibaba founder Jack Ma, was spotted days ago in Melbourne, Australia. While keeping a low profile since regulators put the brakes on his planned record-breaking IPO after he criticized them publicly, Ma has also turned up in Spain and Japan. Bao and Ma aren’t the only tech leaders in China who have vanished from public view seemingly at the peak of their influence. Many of the country’s top business executives and influencers—bankers, property developers, movie stars like Fan Bingbing and e-commerce superseller Austin Li—have gone missing without explanation as their power and influence have grown. Some were later hit with fines and accused of offenses like tax evasion or fraud. Officials have said that the crackdown on the tech industry, which saw a flurry of regulations torpedo the influence of companies from gaming to online education, has ended. But Bao Fan’s disappearance—the latest evidence of the government’s willingness to rein in even the most powerful executives—has shaken investor confidence and undermined Beijing’s insistence it supports the private sector.
World Bank: Quake caused damage worth $5.1 billion in Syria (AP) The World Bank said Friday that Syria sustained an estimated $5.1 billion in damages in last month’s massive earthquake that struck southeast Turkey and northern parts of the war-torn country. The quake killed at least 50,000 people, including about 6,000 in Syria, according to the United Nations. Tens of thousands are still missing and hundreds of thousands were left homeless. In a report released Friday, the World Bank says the level of the damage in Syria is about 10% of the country’s gross domestic product. Syria’s northern province of Aleppo was the most severely hit region, accounting for 45% of the total damages in Syria and amounting to about $2.3 billion in damages. Also badly hit was the rebel-held region in the northwest, home to some 4.6 million people, many of them previously displaced by Syria’s war.

How Freight Brokerage Services Improve Carrier and Shipper Collaboration?
Introduction
In the freight industry, effective collaboration between carriers and shippers is essential for ensuring timely deliveries, optimizing operational efficiency, and minimizing costs. Freight brokerage services play a pivotal role in enhancing this collaboration by acting as intermediaries between shippers who need to move goods and carriers who can transport them. These services not only connect the two parties but also streamline the logistics process, improve communication, and foster better long-term relationships.
The Role of Freight Brokers
A freight broker is a third-party intermediary that facilitates the connection between shippers and carriers. Brokers have in-depth knowledge of the market, including available carriers, industry regulations, and the latest logistics technologies. They leverage this expertise to ensure that the transportation process runs smoothly and that the needs of both the carrier and the shipper are met efficiently. Freight brokers typically maintain a vast network of carriers, including owner-operators, trucking companies, and freight forwarders. This allows them to provide shippers with access to a wide variety of transportation options and offer carriers access to a steady stream of loads.
Benefits of Freight Brokerage for Carriers
Access to More Loads: Freight brokerage significantly expand a carrier's opportunities by offering access to a diverse range of loads from multiple shippers. This is especially beneficial for smaller carriers or independent truckers who may not have the resources to secure contracts directly with shippers. By working with brokers, carriers can fill their trucks more efficiently, reducing empty miles (deadhead miles) and increasing revenue potential.
Route Optimization: Brokers use sophisticated route-planning software to identify the most efficient routes for deliveries. This helps carriers avoid congested areas, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize delays. By optimizing routes, carriers can complete more deliveries in a shorter time frame, improving overall productivity and profitability.
Reduced Administrative Burden: Freight brokers handle much of the administrative work associated with shipping, such as negotiating rates, managing contracts, handling paperwork, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This allows carriers to focus on what they do best—driving and delivering freight—while leaving the logistics details to the broker.
Steady Cash Flow: Freight brokers typically offer carriers faster payment terms than shippers do, helping to improve their cash flow. This is particularly important for smaller carriers that may struggle with cash flow due to long payment cycles. It ensure timely payments, often within 24 to 48 hours, which provides carriers with the liquidity they need to maintain operations.
Benefits of Freight Brokerage for Shippers
Access to a Broader Carrier Network: Freight brokerage provide shippers with access to a large network of carriers, making it easier to find the right fit for their shipment. Whether it's a small load or a large, complex shipment, brokers can find carriers with the capacity and experience to handle specific needs. This broad selection allows shippers to ensure that their goods are transported in the most efficient manner possible.
Cost Savings: Truck Dispatch company can help shippers secure better rates through their established relationships with carriers. It often have a volume of business that allows them to negotiate competitive rates on behalf of shippers. Additionally, brokers are skilled at matching shipments with carriers that are already in the area, reducing deadhead miles and lowering transportation costs.
Reduced Risk: Freight brokers help shippers manage risk by vetting carriers for reliability, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. This means that shippers can trust that their goods will be delivered on time and without damage, reducing the likelihood of costly delays or lost shipments.
Improved Efficiency and Visibility: Freight brokers utilize technology to provide real-time tracking and updates, improving the visibility of shipments throughout the supply chain. This level of transparency enables shippers to monitor progress and respond proactively if issues arise. It also streamlines the communication process, reducing misunderstandings between the shipper and carrier.
How Freight Brokerage Service Facilitate Better Communication
Communication is key to any successful collaboration, and freight broker service are essential in ensuring that carriers and shippers stay on the same page. Brokers facilitate clear and consistent communication by:
Resolving Issues Quickly: In the event of delays, route changes, or other disruptions, it act as intermediaries, helping to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. By keeping both the carrier and shipper informed of any changes in real time, brokers can prevent misunderstandings and minimize potential delays.
Providing Feedback: Freight brokers often gather feedback from both parties after a shipment is completed. This feedback loop helps identify areas for improvement and strengthens the working relationship between the carrier and the shipper. By continuously improving the communication process, brokers help foster trust and collaboration between the two parties.
Long-Term Relationships and Sustainable Growth
Freight brokers play a crucial role in fostering long-term relationships between carriers and shippers. Through their mediation and support, brokers help both parties develop mutual trust and understanding, leading to repeat business and sustainable growth. By facilitating better communication, offering solutions to logistical challenges, and ensuring consistent, reliable performance, brokers create a collaborative environment that benefits everyone in the supply chain.
Conclusion
Freight brokerage services are a vital component of the modern logistics ecosystem, helping to improve collaboration between carriers and shippers. By offering a range of services, including load matching, route optimization, administrative support, and real-time communication, it plays an essential role in enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs.

Finding the Perfect Dry Van Trailer for Rent Near You
Are you in need of a reliable solution to transport your freight? Whether you're a seasoned freight operator or a small business owner looking to scale your operations, renting a dry van trailer can be the ideal choice. These dependable workhorses of the logistics industry offer a secure and weather-resistant way to move everything from packaged goods to non-perishable items.
But why is finding a dry van trailer for rent near me such a smart move? Keep reading to learn about the benefits of local rentals, how to pick the right trailer for your needs, and what costs to expect along the way.
What is a Dry Van Trailer?
Before we get into the details, let’s start with the basics. A dry van trailer is one of the most commonly used types of freight trailers. With its enclosed, box-like structure, it’s built to protect goods from external elements like bad weather or road debris. Whether you’re transporting retail goods, machinery, or non-perishable food, a dry van trailer gets the job done safely and efficiently.
What makes dry vans stand out is their versatility. Unlike flatbeds or refrigerated trailers, dry vans are suitable for a variety of cargo types, making them a go-to choice for businesses across industries.
If you're considering "dry van trailer for rent," renting one locally offers even more advantages, which we’ll explore next.
Why Rent a Dry Van Trailer Locally?
Opting to rent a dry van trailer nearby comes with a range of perks that simplify your logistics and keep your operation running smoothly. Here are some major benefits:
Renting from a local provider enables you to pick up and return your trailer faster, cutting down delivery times. No waiting for a shipment to arrive from another city or state—your rental is just around the corner.
Local rentals often come at more competitive rates compared to national providers. Plus, you'll save on transportation costs since there's no need to travel far to get your trailer.
Local companies value their community connections. You often get a more hands-on and personalized experience, ensuring the rental process is seamless and stress-free.
By choosing a nearby rental company, you’re not only benefiting your business but also supporting local jobs and contributing to your community.
When searching for "local dry van rentals," it pays to start in your immediate vicinity before broadening your search.
How to Choose the Right Dry Van Trailer for Your Needs
Finding the perfect trailer takes preparation and research. Here are some tips to help you make the right choice:
1. Determine Your Cargo Capacity Requirements: What are you hauling? Dry van trailers come in multiple sizes, typically ranging from 28 feet to 53 feet in length. Choose a size based on the volume and weight of your cargo.
2. Understand Weight Limits: Make sure your selected trailer complies with the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Overloading a trailer isn’t just a safety risk—it’s also illegal.
3. Check Compatibility with Your Vehicle: Ensure the trailer works with your truck or tractor, including matching hitch types and load capacity.
4. Review Condition and Maintenance Records: Before renting, inspect the trailer for wear and tear like rust, dents, or outdated parts. Reputable rental providers will maintain their equipment regularly.
5. Look for Flexible Rental Terms: Some projects might require short-term rentals, while others could need a long-term solution. Ensure the rental provider offers terms that fit your timeline.
By following these steps, your search for the best dry van trailer rentals will become a much smoother process.
