This, like so many battles before, had been a long one. Run ragged, yet victorious, Link trudges though an unfamiliar time. He'd been separated from his comrades, save for the small fairy tucked in his hat. Now that the coast was clear, she slips out, flittering around him to observe the damage. "You don't look so good, let me see if I can find some help..." and she's quickly off, scouting ahead. It's good fortune that Proxi doesn't have to go far, speeding for the first individual that catches her eye. "Excuse me! Hey! You got a minute?" || @overx
Things had gotten all tops turvy and disconnected and weird! Timeline's were converging and merging and this was decidedly not good! And for once it wasn't because she did something-- Nayru was probably still going to be real mad though!
However, such an event was enough to pull Farore from her realm to investigate. She imagined her sisters would not be far behind.

"I'm gonna be in so much trouble and I didn't even do anything..." Farore lamented. Being the youngest Divine Sister was hard sometimes. She always got blamed for stuff that was categorically not her fault-- sometimes!
However, a voice pulls her from her lamenting. A fairy? Outside of the forest? Now that was a rarity.

"Why hello there! How may I help you? You know, the battle field is dangerous for a fairy!"

mistake, for everyone on the blog <:
oc asks: not-so-nice edition
mistake: What's the worst mistake your OC ever made? What led to them making it? Have they been able to fix it? How have they moved on?
((Rin shouldn't have argued with her parents the night they died. Not only was it distracting to them both, but Rin's last words to her parents were very vitriolic in nature. It was a one-sided, selfish argument, and as she looked back on it years later she realized they were only saying these things to her out of genuine concern. They only wanted the best for her, to be safe and pursue a passion which wouldn't lead her into anything potentially dangerous.
But those fleeting moments where both her parents took their eyes off the road were the last moments Rin ever had to try atoning for her actions. Little Rin was too heated in the moment thinking her parents were going against her own desires. Before Rin realized everything she said and the actions following the impact of the other car, her parents were gone. She couldn't apologize to them for her stupidity, and she'll never get that chance. Rin killed her parents, and it's made her hate herself since that day.))
((The one time KC decided to schedule an interview on her own accord nearly cost the girl's own safety and her family's reputation. It was one of those undercover, hot gossip reporters disguised as a newspaper group. They baited KC into revealing some private information concerning her family's heritage, along with KC's own background. They told her it was for an upcoming show centered around young celebrities and how they came to fame. It would be a feature in their newspaper too, for other young people to read. She was more than happy to provide and tell her story, but in the end the entire interview was used against her.
The family found out via breaking news, and in published magazine articles. They confronted KC about the situation but KC never suspected them to be these kinds of horrible people. From then on, KC wasn't allowed much freedom to roam around public concert halls after their performances, nor could she wander off without a bodyguard by her side.))
((There's been...a handful of mistakes Jayden has made which cost her a lot of horrible consequences, mostly done by her awful, abusive father.
Back when she was still a little kid and attending middle school, she skipped one day because she couldn't bare to get out of her own bed. Her mom was the only one to know about it, and she even called the school that day to say Jayden came down with a cold. Instead of her mom going to work, she stayed with Jayden the whole day. It was nice having a quiet house with just the two of them. No yelling, no screaming, no distant shouting or sounds of things being broken. It was peaceful for once.
But once dad came back home, it turned violent. The school called him, as well, to notify him that his daughter hadn't come into school that day. You can imagine the kind of consequences Jayden received from skimping out on school. On top of the usual verbal abuse, her father grew more physically violent against her. Hair pulling, slapping her face, roughhousing her, all to teach her lesson to never lie about something so serious and to never lie to higher authorities either.))

Is your muse easily flustered? Do they blush, swear, etc.? [[For Serta and Ferris? <: ]]
Vanilla Sunday Meme
12. Is your muse easily flustered? Do they blush, swear, etc.?
For Serta: Already answered!
Ferris can definitely get flustered! Much more easily than Serta can, anyway - she doesn't have his stoic demeanor and is more reactive in certain situations.
However, she doesn't blush easily either. She already fixates on her own stuff like gender identity and the like, so any subject approaching or in spicier territory has her going 'meh' most of the time. She's also ace/demisexual, so she's more resistant to that sort of thing.
She already swears semi-frequently, but piss her off and she'll get very colorful with her insults.

Another's Mask <:
The Masks We Wear || Accepting
Send in ‘Another’s Mask’ to meet a muse from another blog I currently have.
@hallownesthorrors
It's hard to hold the non-insect form that it currently donned, but hopefully it would do forth it for the creature it had decided to lure into the shadows today. The spider mimic just had to be patience and hope they didn't notice the seemingly loose skin on its body.
Closer... Closer... INFECT. KILL. DRAW INTO THE LIGHT. DESTROY. And strike.
The mimic emerges from its shifted form, shell and joints cracking and it lets loose a hiss and roar.
Rearing on its hind legs for only a moment, Nosk spits up some acid and charges, read for its next meal.

[[Shackled -- for Volt? Or maybe Lexi?]]
If he had a leaf for every time he found himself in a demon circle, he'd have two leaves. Which both cases would be a GREAT cause for concern, except the first time Cyrus was NOT the intended sacrifice.
Faint candlelight twinkles at the edges of consciousness, and his first TRUE sight of the circle beneath him is glowing with infernal magics, flecks of red and gold pulsing in time with what could be inferred as a heart beat. I do hope that isn't mine.
The runes underneath him are...the scholar isn't sure if it is the blood loss or the lack of stamina, but does not recognize them as anything Orsterrian in nature. Which means...what, exactly? That this was intended to summon something OTHER than what was known to the Twelve?
Oh dear.
Whoever had captured him knew of how his--or his world's magic functioned, at least. Bound was his mouth and jaw in a tight muzzle, leaving any attempts at an incantation to free himself utterly useless. He could only try to parse whatever magic he could catch from his tied hands, which...ow. Burned. Embers? Fire?
Perhaps the key to his escaped lied in the mysterious runes underneath him. Thus his eyes are glued to the floor, tracing careful geometric shapes written in...ah. Blood. That's not surprising, all things considered...

Now this is unusual. The request-- order? -- to make his way to the Commander's office wouldn't be unusual... if there was a mission to debrief. As it stands, the purple reploid hadn't been deployed since their last (unofficial) outing together. Momentarily, he contemplates knocking, before deciding it's best to enter right away. "You called, Boss?" Asked idly as he closes the door behind himself. [ @overx ]
It's hard to make sense of.
While they'd hardly had the time since the attack at the RRC, there had been other questions unanswered that weren't just from the Maverick activity they'd encountered. It had been just a minor issue, left behind after the dust settled and they were scrambling to pick up as many pieces as they could before the vultures came knocking.
For now, the Ride Armor remains were in their Hangar, as crispy as burnt mechanics could be. Zoel had been sent to help dismantle it, and report his findings, which meant... a lull of sorts that sat like baited breath.
...And left space for those original concerns he'd had. The Commander hated the way it weighed down in his core, assumptions and conspiracies building in the vacant space. Sifting through files... The data pad clacks against his wooden desk, dropped again after scrolling through data vault after data vault.
That was when his subordinate walked in.
Zain did his best to control his irritation. "...Yes." He sighed, eyes dropping to the open screen before him. "I have some questions for you."
And things were going so well, too.

"Hi! I'm looking for Xanti, have you seen him around lately?"
[ Answered by: @overx ]
Oh. Xanti, not X. They must be friends then? Vile pauses, tools set down on the workbench. He looks over, somewhat surprised to see the sunny blond had stopped here of all places for directions. Cheerful, smiley, cute... Yeah, you would be one of his friends. "Sorry, you just missed him. I think he stepped out for an errand but he should be back soon."
Oh. He's not here? "Ah, that's fine." For missing his friend, Ziel tried his best to not sound too disappointed. It wasn't for anything important anyhow; just a chance to catch up while the rebel had some free-time.
Nothing wrong with waiting for just a little bit, especially when... "What are you working on?" He leans over the Hunter and the table he was bent over, arms folding behind his back-- reassurance he wasn't going to reach out and touch any equipment.
Wait.
"Holy smokes, is that a multi-element plasma cannon?! Is that shoulder mounted too?? Oh man, are its components interchangeable? And the torque in this-- Have you thought about diverting run-off discharge into thrusters for--"

Follow up question to the last one -- what are some of the bigger changes for the cast? I noticed you kept a lot of their names, but I'm sure they're not entirely how they used to be!
[man you have some really good questions, lmao! thanks for keeping me on my toes!
as for the character names, they're mostly the same. Sapphyra/Emily is pretty much exactly the same as she was before, the only real change with Rusty is that he's an android now instead of a Machine (but he's still tall, at over six feet)
Alex was also a character from before, and his age is really the only thing that changed, outside of his backstory. same with Zak, as well as the other characters that will cycle in and out as they "visit" the City (aka, when i have the muse for them)
Serenity, on the other hand, outside of any AUs i have with other blogs, has been completely revamped, and now more closely reflects how she is in the story outside of tumblr, so no phoenix powers
other than that, i think the only "new" characters on the blog are Davion, Lucien, and Max, who i'm hoping to delve more into their characters as i work on writing more stuff for them]

@overx asks...
If memory serves... hadn't there been a bar somewhere in this neighborhood? Or... had that been the other timeline? Voluntas recalled liking the bartender at the time but... the landscape may well have changed since last he passed through. Mortal live are so fast paced like that-- especially in a restless city like this. At last, a somewhat familiar sign catches his eye, and the demon finds himself wandering through the lounge doors. [[For either version of Matthew or Polybius? ^v^]]
Making his way into the lounge would be a simple enough task - he had to take an elevator or the stairs up, but it would only be a few floors up. Upon entering, the scene is pretty tranquil tonight. No fights, no problem customers... nothing of the sort, just a chill night.
As though there were a connection however, Matthew seemed to be out this time. Behind the bar was someone else this time - a rather unassuming looking man. He was in the middle of cleaning a glass when he looked up to greet Voluntas.
"Oh, good evening," he says simply, setting the glass down. "Welcome to the Firefly Lounge. Can I get you anything to drink tonight?"

"Psi! Oh dearest brother of mine, do you have a moment?" Truly the sickly-sweet cheerfulness here is the kind only his adopted sibling can see through. "I reaaally need to talk to you about something." [ @overx ]
"Xantiiii," it's the practiced kind of cheer only afforded between siblings; although the other X clearly was deserving of the tone given his own opening to the conversation.
"Oh you know me! All the time in the world, especially to spare for my dearest littlest brother. Just don't ask me to start a fire!"

"?!"
The way this alternate got creative in how to dodge so effectively, using the thruster of the mounted arm missile as a way of increasing the dash to a dodge, it impressed the Ex Maverick. Enough that he had to pause and appreciate such a move, it was something he himself would have tried many, many, years ago when younger. But older versions of himself wouldn't, far too wrapped up in ego, power, and urges to use every new tool to be higher and in advantage over someone else.
"Good."
Vile was pleased. That means this one had an edge over that other alternate, not blinded like himself used to be. Vi will need that. Adaptability it what we were always good at once... Stay that way, be better than the rest of us.'
The older version of the two stood now in the indented ground, small crater of a sort, and he brought himself to his full height once more. The dust slowly settling down around him like an ominous haze in the air, leaving Vile silhouetted. That energy shield dissipating with but a thought as he began to turn, arm bending backwards, palm open. Preparing a new counter or attack- but Vile held his hand up. Making him stop in his tracks and wait. Honorable even now, with the raw honesty out in the air. That lifted hand lowering as all the energy he was gathering was depleted, put back into reserves.
Brows furrowed under the helmet as he listened intently then. Attacked...? From the sounds of things, it couldn't have been Mavericks. Extremists as he said have been deploying the virus on their own, so maybe it was those Emerald Spears bastards? If they even existed in this alternates world, or at least something similar to them. Vile was left wondering the specifics of how trying to cure it was even going, if the other worlds X was involved... Was he even still immune? Like the X of his own world? Had to be, otherwise he wouldn't be there.
"Well shit." The war machine strode out of the impact zone he had created, to stand closer to his alternate once more, enough for polite conversation, but not enough to indicate he would be standing down. "Sounds like a few are trying to find some sort of gain from causing that sort of destruction." A part was curious, almost enough so, to see if Shaska could have any input on this other worlds issue. But he sure as hell wasn't going to bring it up to her, not their circus. He had faith in Vi and the other side of reality. Or maybe faith was the wrong word... Maybe he was starting to feel that damnable Hope so many spoke about...
Wait-- that was a good question actually! Why would that other variant want involved? Vile felt his instincts suddenly flare, various possible outcomes flitting across his mind. "That is a big concern I share. I can think of two possibilities off the top of my head, and neither one are good." Even more so if a different Sigma, or some other figure head, is pulling that other Vile's strings. "For one, he could be there to try and get it to use as a weapon for himself. I can tell you for certain that most of the others of us have one hell of a grudge against X, Zero, and the Hunters as a whole. If he got hole of your version, maybe he would want to use it was a way to wipe MHHQ off the map. Strategy speaking? It would cripple any resistance."
He hummed then, shifting his weight sideways with the slight tilt of the helmet. "The grudge leads me to the second one. It could be thrill of the kill, just to try and take down you as a way to prove his superiority, or worse infect you to be like him. And then go after your worlds X and Zero. Not sure whatever ya want me callin' em'."
"Either way, he can not be suffered to remain a threat... It could be much worse than even I might be thinking." He motioned with one hand then, in a sort of offer. Something meant to let him choose to continue their fight, or keep it on a pause.
Miserable, that's how it sounds. Vi can only hazard a guess at the timeline, at how rapidly the virus advanced. How swiftly everything in his alternate's world decayed. His own experiences in a broken mirror. The spread had been slowed here, if only because of how deadly infection was. Killing the subjects so quickly was a mercy of a sort, although no one could really call it painless.
You enjoyed it? That glitch must have gone a long ways back. Although Vi couldn't deny the thrill of combat, the pride in his work, he suspected that this... reveling in the chaos, was not that.
Vile moves backwards, dodging as effectively as expected. Really, it would have been disappointing if the uppercut actually connected. What is a surprise however, is the thrusters mounted in the soles of his companions boots. It makes for a quick retreat and regrouping effort.
Shit, I can't do that. The raising of eyebrows under his visor. Getting airborne is a new trick, and one the Maverick Hunter would definitely be considering modifications for in the future. "I'm impressed." A quick scan of the other's armor is tucked away for later.
For the first time in a while, he's grateful to have teammates with flight capabilities, this at least, isn't out of the ordinary. A missile pops out of his gauntlet armor, rather than firing at Vile though... he breaks into a sprint towards his incoming opponent. The rocket's booster flares while still attached to his arm, helping him pick up speed. His dash turns into a slide just barely under the alternates path.
What he can't make up for in natural speed, he can make up with resourcefulness. He's had to use plenty of tricks when sparring with the other S-ranks. Nonlethal momentum is one thing he can handle. The weapon clicks as it disappears back into his arm, one of them is pulling punches after all. Vi gets back to his feet with a sigh, inspecting the impact zone he'd missed with a hidden grimace. Close call.
It's funny how casual this feels. It's easier to talk like this in a way. Functions split, less time to overthink the answers. More honest. Still, he isn't quick to retaliate, if only because his alternate asked a pointed question. He holds up a hand, to signal a proper pause in their skirmish.
"Xan-- X, and several other research teams have been studying it. Working on a vaccine." Slow, grim work. Comprised of mostly human scientists to avoid accidental infection. "...the primary research outpost was attacked a while back." A real dent in any progress.
"Since then, it's been deployed like a bio weapon by extremists. Completely clean areas become ground zero out of the blue." It'd only happened a few times, but even once is too many. "That's why it's still out there." Why it hadn't been fully contained. "We still don't know where it came from in the first place, or how they're getting their hands on more of it." A pause, and he's crossing his arms, thoughtful.
"...actually... now that you've got me thinking... what the hell would that other Vile gain from getting in the middle this? Our virus is lethal, and there's been no sign he's spreading anything else." So what then, is he just in it for the thrill of the kill?

Since you're revamping everything, what are some of the biggest changes you're excited about?
[oooh, this is a good question!
the main reason I revamped the blog was because I just couldn't relate to where the story was heading on here. it was disjointed, nonsensical, and just... I don't know why it was a good idea to introduce magic into a world that doesn't have it??
I will say, I talked about this with one of my friends over discord recently, and I realized if I could write something a bit more relatable, maybe it would make writing fun again?
all that being said, I'm most excited about writing the daily struggles of a family that is just trying to survive, when the world couldn't care any less whether they win or fail]
