La cancelación de nuevas producciones originales de calidad aún no ha sido anunciado oficialmente, por lo que las fuentes han pedido permanecer en el anonimato. Por delante se llevan también la continuidad de series como Origin y Overthinking with Kat & June, que ya no recibirán nuevos capítulos, según la citada publicación, aunque series como Cobra Kai, Impulse, entre otras series originales, podrían tener mejor suerte y aún podrían recibir nuevas temporadas.

La mayor parte de las producciones originales existentes pasarán a estar disponibles para todos los usuarios de YouTube de forma gratuita aunque con publicidad. Detrás de este cambio de postura se encuentra el alto coste de llevarlas a cabo, incluso para gigantes tecnológicos de la talla de Google, aunque no es la única compañía tecnológica que en su momento apostó por los contenidos originales.
