Our old oven was so fucked and ran so hot that now I’m sitting here wondering why it’s taking so long to cook stuff.

I had some suck-ass shoestring fries last night and I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out a way to make them more palatable instead of becoming chicken food.
And guess who just found a hunk of knock-off Velveeta in the fridge?!?!
Oh yeah, we're going for cheese fries.

boss said i did well at work today again. since it was the eighth straight day of working after weeks of working three days at most and i spent it 99% of it on the line where i Did Not Want To Be, this compliment was a little hard to internalize

all i have been craving are the foods of my childhood but a lot of those are very difficult to acquire at this point. for example, as an after school snack one of my favorite things to eat were these twice baked mashed potato boats in these little blue paper sleeve cups. you got 2 in one package at the dollar store from the frozen section and the cheese ones were my favorite. but ive gone to all the dollar stores and even that cursed dollar general where most things are not a dollar and god even the dollar store is a dollar twenty-five nowadays and they’re nowhere to be found. I want buttered noodles but specifically the leftover dollar store egg noodles from last nights dinner sprayed with gobs of ‘i can’t believe its not butter’ and doctored up with the Italian spices, red pepper flakes and parm packets from the local pizza place and i wanna watch is spin slowly in the microwave in a red-tinged tupperware. I want a Celeste pizza on a metal round disc which i can still find but they got rid of the metal disc so the crust isn’t the same and instead of sixty-four cents they’re like, fuckin two bucks for the tiniest pizza in the world, and I ain’t payin that. I want a Wawa breakfast sandwich which i can get but would it be the same if it’s not the ones bought by my grandfather, who used to get up early to grab the paper and drive over in the crown vic to clear out the entire Wawa hot sandwich section by getting five hash browns and at least one of every type of sandwich like some sort of south jersey noah’s ark, even though only three people were eating? he’s gone now and I’m no longer eleven, twelve, thirteen waking up at ten am to “good morning, morning glory,” with the comics picked out and laid next to my plate and the shmorgasboard of pork roll and sausage and scrapple sandwiches. they don’t even have the small wawas anymore. i just made a bowl of cereal today. i’m still hungry.

#simple resippy. buy small ones (fingerling or whatever you can find—if you are fancy or american the sack will say smth like#'ideal for gratin' 'perfect for gratin' etc.)#wash them very well. use a gentle wire sponge if particularly dirty. u know they are clean when the water runs clean. crest them#or simply poke 'em a bit w a fork. (this will prevent steam from building up inside them and ensure even cooking)#then. in a big light bowl. plop poatoes + sprinkle salt & herbs & sesame seeds & pepper if desired. spray w cooking oil.#i use olive. anything w a similar smoke point will do. shake the bowl until the herbs n such have evenly coated the potatoes.#on a tray lay down a baking sheet then plop the potatoes on it evenly distributing them.#bake for 30-35 minutes at abt 170 C. actual time will depend on ur oven and potato size etc#you should check them at the 25 min mark tonsee how theyre doing. they are done when the skin looks a bit papery#+ when poking them w a skewer or fork they fall away w little resistance and without leaving crumbs#enjoy them w cottage cheese or by themselves

Boring life update:
Unlearning little bad habits from my earlier life, one day at a time. Reminding myself it's okay to make mistakes. No one is going to make fun of me. I'm not going to be in trouble. It's just how life is.

my bathroom light exploded how's everyone else's night going?

Fanzine Friday #23: Easy-Baked Potato Hearts
Ingredients
1/4 small potato
1/2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
pinch salt
dash freshly ground black pepper
1/4 tsp fresh rosemary
1/2 tsp butter
1 tsp fresh chives
1 tsp fresh parsley
Directions
Preheat Easy-Bake Oven
Slice potato into 4, 1/4 inch thick discs
Cut out one heart from each slice with Easy-Bake heart cutter
Brush pan and potato hearts with olive oil
Sprinkle salt and pepper over potatoes
Mince herbs, keeping rosemary separate
Mix chives and parsley with butter
Sprinkle rosemary on potato hearts
Place butter-herb mixture in melting cup, on melting tray
Preheat Easy-Bake Oven
Slice potato into 4, 1/4 inch thick discs
Cut out one heart from each slice with Easy-Bake heart cutter
Brush pan and potato hearts with olive oil
Sprinkle salt and pepper over potatoes
Mince herbs, keeping rosemary separate
Mix chives and parsley with butter
Sprinkle rosemary on potato hearts
Place butter-herb mixture in melting cup, on melting tray
Bake potato hearts for 20-25 minutes, turning once during cooking
Serve with stewed tomato puree [catsup] and the herbed butter, garnish with chives
Makes 4 appetizer servings
