The reflection in the mirror. ⠀⠀ Who do you see? ⠀ ⠀ In January 2018, I was given the diagnosis of stage 3b clear cell ovarian cancer. After 13 months of chemotherapy we conquered and destroyed 🤛🏼💥 and I was considered NED (No evidence of disease). At my very first followup appointment, 3 months later the cancer was back, it had spread into distant lymph nodes. After 5 more months of chemotherapy I was once again NED. Now 2 months later the cancer is back and has decided to create a home in my liver — no no no ya don’t. ⠀ ⠀ When I look in the mirror, I don’t see cancer.. I see me. I see a human that loves life, loves kindness and loves sharing love. I see a mom, a daughter, a sister, a business woman. I see strength that sometimes waivers and falls but ALWAYS gets back up. I see a woman that has a never give up attitude, a sense of peace and acceptance along with unwavering trust in the universe that everything is as it is supposed to be. Ovarian Cancer support group Christmas dinner. �� Brave is an understatement. ⠀ Strong goes beyond imagine. ⠀ Beautiful from the inside out. ⠀ ⠀ Each one of these women have been through the fire. They have experienced the worst diagnosis, knowing that half will die before 5 years of diagnosis.. and if they experience a recurrence they’re told it’s never going way and they will be on treatment the rest of their lives. They have watched their friends be taken from us. Yet they continue to move forward with endurance, love and compassion. ⠀ ⠀ Their trenches of survival are deep and yet they smile, they live each day their best because they know tomorrow isn’t promised. These women are hero’s and I feel honoured to sit amongst them. I have a lot of people messaging me asking if I’m ok because I haven’t been posting much lately. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for thinking of me. 💗💗 The honest answer is I simply don’t have the energy. My days are still wonderful because I have chosen to save my energy for my family, for my salon and stylists, and for my friends during our visits. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ This past couple days I’ve started feeling a bit better.. so YAY!! 🤗⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Each morning I remind myself what my body and mind have been though and accept however it is I’m feeling. Loving and being at peace with our life is a practice. It is a practice of acceptance. I don’t ever hate my body for getting cancer, I know it is up to me to make it into what “feels” right for me. ⠀ ⠀ “I” design my life, I do not allow the cancer design it for me. I get to choose who I am and the actions I take.. and although the cancer may take my body it can never have my soul. I believe in ME and I believe in all of the love and support that surrounds me. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Today, no matter your challenge, close your eyes and really think about who you are using I AM, as if you are already that person. Repeat those words over and over throughout the day and BELIEVE in yourself with every thought. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Take MINDEFULL ACTION to be what you desire! Your mind doesn’t know what is real, it only knows what you consistently tell it.
