help me pick my next audiobook, tumblr
i have a library of over a thousand audiobooks, but I currently have no credits to spend on new audiobooks, so you can't rec me something I don't already have, but I already have a shitton
peruse this list and tell me if you see a favorite you would like to pitch to me to read
this isn’t 100% a TBR list, according to audible and libro.fm I’ve listened to about 24% of these, and also I pick up a lot of titles I read in physical book format as a kid for nostalgia so there’s some it’s not like I’m not familiar even if I haven’t listened to the audiobook yet. HOWEVER I couldn’t come up with any easy way to mark which ones I’ve read (it was a pain in the fuckin ass getting data exported and formatted at all I’ve spent fuckin hours on this list guys), but also I’m not opposed to rereading right now. My brain is swiss cheese (thus outsourcing the decision making part of the enterprise to you all).
anyway pitch me a book I already own that there’s like a 3 in 4 chance I haven’t read! Maybe you wrote a book or two or three on this list? I know I follow some writers on tumblr. Maybe it’s just your favorite that no one else has ever heard of?
there is a decent chance I will be pulling out of meds limbo in about a week and getting brain function back, so books you pitch me now might turn into future fandoms. you might get some good meta or even fanfic out of this if you play your cards right.
the list again is here it is a fucking absurd length list but it is alphabetized by author and you can also search it that being a function of spreadsheets.
I own books. Tell me which ones to listen to.

okay so my wheel is empty and I need to pick my next spinning project, but I keep dithering. thoughts?
self-indulgent option #1 - "honey dipped berries" art batt - a little over four ounces of merino, silk, viscose, firestar, and angelina. not totally set on a plan but likely going to make a big fluffy single and then maybe thread ply?
self-indulgent option #2 - "seaswirl" combed top, four ounces of Shetland and silk. absolutely no plans just vibes.
gift progress #1 - "momfluff" combed top, a custom blend of Rambouillet, cashmere, silk, and bamboo. fine worsted singles forever. need to have a sweater quantity of this done by the end of the year.
gift progress #2 - "dadfluff" combed top, a custom blend of moorit Shetland, bamboo, and tweed blend. fine woolen singles forever. need to have a sweater quantity of this done by the end of the year.
skill building #1 - "cool socks" combed top, superwash merino & nylon blend. trying to grind my skills at hand spun sock yarns.
skill building #2 - "hot socks" combed top, superwash merino & nylon blend. trying to grind my skills at hand spun sock yarns.
store work - "maritime forest" polwarth silk blend that got all the silk stuck together in dyeing. I want to see if turning it into rolags makes it more spinnable, or if this whole batch of custom top is unusable as a fiber base for dyeing and can only be spun well undyed (which would mean pulling it from shop stash.)
setting the poll to minimum of one day but I'll probably look at results and decide within the next three or four hours. thanks in advance for helping me with my dithering!

*note, the full title of Love for Imperfect things is Love for Imperfect Things: How to Accept Yourself in a World Striving for Perfection. It doesn't fit in the character limit
Summaries copy/pasted from goodreads
Love for Imperfect things summary: No one is perfect, but that shouldn't hold us back from love--for the world, for one another, or even for ourselves. In this beautifully illustrated guide, Buddhist teacher Haemin Sunim (whose name means "spontaneous wisdom") draws on examples from his own life and on his years of helping others to introduce us to the art of self-care. When we treat ourselves with compassion, empathy, and forgiveness, we learn to treat others the same way, allowing us to connect with people on a deeper level, bounce back from failure, deal with feeling hurt or depressed, listen more attentively, express ourselves more clearly, and have the courage to pursue what really makes us happy so we can feel complete in ourselves. With more than thirty-five full-color illustrations, Love for Imperfect Things will appeal to both your eyes and your heart, offering you comfort, encouragement, and wisdom so that you can learn to love yourself, your life, and everyone in it.
The Book of Joy summary: The occasion was a big birthday. And it inspired two close friends to get together in Dharamsala for a talk about something very important to them. The friends were His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The subject was joy. Both winners of the Nobel Prize, both great spiritual masters and moral leaders of our time, they are also known for being among the most infectiously happy people on the planet.
From the beginning the book was envisioned as a three-layer birthday cake: their own stories and teachings about joy, the most recent findings in the science of deep happiness, and the daily practices that anchor their own emotional and spiritual lives. Both the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Tutu have been tested by great personal and national adversity, and here they share their personal stories of struggle and renewal. Now that they are both in their eighties, they especially want to spread the core message that to have joy yourself, you must bring joy to others.
Most of all, during that landmark week in Dharamsala, they demonstrated by their own exuberance, compassion, and humor how joy can be transformed from a fleeting emotion into an enduring way of life.

Peer Pressure Edition ✨
🩷 💚 💛 🖤 💙 ❤️ 💜
Send me an ask with a heart from the list above and a number (1-10) and I will write that number of sentences for the corresponding WiP and maybe even let you peek. 👀
Or send ❤️🔥 as a wildcard and I’ll pick one at random or you can include your own prompt!

I am procrastinating on errands I need to run, So I propose a deal.
Tumblr followers, bug me until I finish all of my errands and I will reward you with photos of the goose refuge.
Things I need to do
Go to the bank
Drop off books at the library
Dump run
Make banana bread
Shovel snow into the greenhouse
Should I finish these things you will get pictures. No, I will not explain what the goose refuge is until I have pictures. I will even make the last 2 flex goals to improve the likelihood of goose pictures.
So here we go. Bug me and make me get my errands done before the end of the day.

folks say I have a tendency to keep emotions bottled up and not talk about anything but I think I express myself a lot. I am constantly saying things like:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and then I endure
#my ramblings#and of course. calling sister for hours so I can miserably outsource my executive functioning#head in hands. I’m gonna finish this one thing and then I will lie down and finish the rest in the morning.

I want specific rooms for specific functions and I want to easily be able to differentiate between them. Is this personal preference or a coping mechanism for the executive dysfunction? I will decide in my dedicated room for focusing on problems (aka an office. with four walls and a door. also a desk and probably a bookshelf with too many things piled on them).
I hate the “open floor plan” that everyone is obsessed with in houses now. I want nooks and crannies and bizarre floor plans. I don’t need to be able to see what someone is doing on the other side of the house. I want places to hide and lurk and dwell in the shadows. I am the beast who awaits in the labyrinth
#there are bees in my brain#and they are accustomed to complex floor plans#they need designated spaces for tasks#otherwise no tasks will occur#and we’ll just be sitting in my one room with all the bees#like just a cloud of bees#who are bored and hovering#because they have no cues for what they should be doing#which is of course my natural state#adhd shit#i need environmental cues in my enclosure#not necessarily for enrichment#although that’s more wall space for Things#but mostly for executive functions#which I must outsource
