#what should i read next

hello again fellow denizens of our beloved hellsite, once again i need assistance in picking my Next Book To Read (after i finish this nonfic and perhaps also HILL HOUSE). these are all somehow adjacent to the writing project i'm working on, so i might even read them in order of Victor to Loser (though i reserve the right to say nah).

please help me select my next read based on ZERO propaganda, only titles and cover vibes.

Trying to decide what to read next. In addition to entertaining me, I would like something to inspire or help me write. Most options are going to be Doctor Who-related books. Others are things that either my OC would read.

after 5 months and 14 days... i can officialy say i've read The Lord of the Rings 🥳

so much walking. and nature. and friendship. and food. and epic battles. eowyn. but mostly walking

i'm gonna miss it 🥲 especially since i loaned the books from the library... think i need to buy my own and properly annotate everything. oh and watch the director's commentary edition of the movies so i can (hopefully) notice the books details!

actually i finished Return of the King a couple weeks ago but i still had the annexes to go through. i am OBSESSED with how Tolkien went to leagues and beyond in his world-building and his 'adaptation' work to english. truly a dedicated man to his craft.

I was meant to start a new audiobook so I can get some housework done. Now I can't choose a book so housework isn't getting done either

Podcasts I Listen To

Surveillance Report A show about privacy and security, which just goes over breaches and developments in the world of privacy

The Saucer Life A podcast that looks at UFO topics but from a more historical or sociological point of view. The guy, with his very soothing voice just recounts events, usually in chronological order without really looking at if aliens are real or not.

Expanded Perspectives two dudes from the southern US (i think texas?) who spend their free time hunting talk about all sorts of paranormal stuff.

What Should I Read Next? Exactly what it says on the tin. Anne Bogel, the host talks to a guest about their reading life and delve into topics and give out reading recommendations.

Welcome to Night Vale Just got back into it and am listening from the beginning. Surrealist comedy radio show about a fictional desert town. Strong unreality warning!

Podcasts that I used to listen to but now would not recommend

Mysterious Universe Paranormal podcast with two dudes from Australia reading books and delving into paranormal topics. I was a listener for years but stopped about two years ago as they became just very unhinged with transphobia, antisemitism and ableism creeping up not only in their topics but also their banter, Stay away!
