sometimes I wanna talk more about Laudna and unpack how I personally was really disappointed after having some really high expectations of her and was really excited for an exploration of aspects of trauma and healing from it making you feel locked in place or the navigation of such a huge narrative event from a different perspective but how I ultimately personally felt her character was worse than incoherent, it was empty (hollow, even), especially under how Marisha initially conceptualized her as "over her trauma" and how that affected the way groundwork was laid

and sometimes I imagine talking about how even her mechanics are underwhelming when they could have done something interesting

but then I remember the worst I got harassed and the only time I was called a slur in this fandom was because I mildly remarked that maybe there's an interesting narrative to be had if she wasn't resurrected

so, I just waffle about it endlessly

I'll be missing the live wrap-up but i wanted to say it's been disheartening but sadly unsurprising the way a lot of people who started with Campaign 3 talk about Marisha and Laura especially. It feels as though they see them as little more than vessels to provide Laudna and Imogen content. They get outright mad when people ask them questions in the AMA Firesides or 4SD about their jobs in Critical Role as a company, or other characters they've played, or their personal feelings about things they enjoy. A lot of them hate the Cobalt Soul despite Marisha explicitly and repeatedly saying it's incredibly meaningful to her, and are vocal about this, but will attack you if you say you're not a big fan of Laudna. Their approach to Keyleth feels like little more than a convenient opportunity for them to say "you can't ever criticize Marisha! Look at the harassment she received" but they'll then direct this claim towards anyone, even people who watched C1 live and experienced that in real-time and opposed it. They'll engage in harassment themselves and claim it's in defense of Marisha, then turn around and shit talk the Cobalt Soul and yell about how the Ashari are evil Ruidusborn haters and Beauyasha is boring.

And to be clear I have a longstanding and documented history of disliking obnoxiously parasocial behavior or invasive/repetitive/overly generic panel questions. I think, and I mean this genuinely, that it's completely fine and reasonable to be a CR fan who is here for characters only, and isn't interested in the cast. Indeed, I think a lot of early fans of the show were mostly here for the story of Vox Machina, and I respect the people who didn't connect to the Mighty Nein nor have an attachment to the cast and politely stepped away. I am not demanding everyone love every piece of merch nor every creative direction choice lest they disrespect Laura or Marisha; that is not how this works. But there's a difference between "I'm not really interested in anything but Keyleth, so I'm only tuning in to TLOVM chats!" vs this entitled distaste, verging on disgust, among a certain set of C3 fans when Marisha and Laura especially spend even a minute of their out-of-character time talking about anything other than Laudna and Imogen. If you do this, you cede the right to any "they're having fun/it's meaningful or comforting or makes them happy" defense (which, to be clear, I do not think is a valid argument with regards to the quality of a story, but which a lot of these people hypocritically invoke) or "if you dislike this female character or F/F ship you're a bigoted person," especially when you resent the actual real-world women behind your pretend characters for choosing to answer a question about anything other than what you personally care about.

And ultimately, I think that if you are dismissive and resentful towards the bulk of what the cast/company does (this includes when you turn this resentment towards fans for daring to ask questions about anything else, even in places that aren't at all C3-specific like panels or cast fireside AMAs, or places where the crew or the cast themselves are the ones actually choosing which questions are answered), it is childish and embarrassing to then act like you are being wronged and your opinions cruelly disregarded simply because something of which you only like one small facet fails to cater to you. You don't have to like it; but you showed up to part 3 of a trilogy and got mad that the creators sometimes talk about parts 1 and 2.

The other thing about living vicariously through people blogging about their playthroughs of bg3 is that it really does make the game sound like a dating sim. The most important thing I know about this game is that no matter who you're playing, everyone at the forgotten realms tadpole brain worm party desires you carnally.

Does Brent want to bury himself as he works with Vernias, who wears the most ridiculous pink maid dress with FUCKING BUNNY EARS? (Which Nick also paid for??)

Cut because I UNINTENTIONALLY MADE A DRABBLE TwT (this is why I am Starry's kid. I type something simple, want to write a short thing, point something out, get an idea that is very good... and then - BOOM... I start to over-analyse and my fingers start their own life on the keyboard.)

Nick opened the door of the Cafe, ready to announce his presence with a stupid joke he'd prepared. The door fell shut behind him as he stopped and froze in place. He felt like he was planted on the floor. Unable to move a single muscle.

His eyes caught the pink haired barista. Those white bunny ears on his head- Nick had seen them before. - Nick had bought them.

Vernias had kept his word. Nick didn't want to believe it. It was like he lost a bet. Nick never lost a be-

The message. Vernias had replied to him with this stupid message. Right after Nick sent him a screenshot that showed he had ordered the bunny ears. They - as always, like everything he bought for his favourite barista - were delivered to an address that wasn't Vernias'.

Nick didn't know that it was always Brent's PO box the packages were delivered to.

Nick didn't know that Brent saw the package and rolled his eyes with an annoyed sigh.

It wasn't the first time Brent picked up a package for his friend colleague. But Vernias' smile when Brent handed him the packages made it all worth it. (And the two dollars Vern gave him in return-)

Nick didn't know that Vernias giggled with a wide grin when Brent handed him this one package.

And how Vernias stood in front of his mirror with the bunny ears neatly placed on his head, fixing his skirt. Vernias posed like he was in a photoshoot, the urge to send Nick a picture making him twitch and sigh as he looked at his reflection. The short dress wasn't helping.

Nick stood in his place in the middle of the Cafe. Like he was in a trance.

Vernias had noticed him instantly. His head turned toward the door when he heard the jingle of the bell above it. And Vernias smirked as he saw the ever so expressive ghostly daisy.

Brent sighed to himself, knowing this was going to go down horribly bad- .

Vernias didn't greet Nick. Because Nick didn't greet them. Because Nick didn't drop a single dumb word as he entered.

Because Vernias knew.

He placed two plates on a table with customers he knew by first name.

Nick stopped breathing at the view of Vernias' maid dress.

Pink Bubby: Yeah. I like pink :3

You: I know. But I'll only pay the rest if I get to see it in person.

Pink Bubby: You will, King.

Nick slammed his phone on the couch. One hand covered his mouth. His face was feeling way too warm. And his mind played tricks on him.

Brent grinned as he cleaned a cup.

This was going to go down horribly bad-

For Nick.

As much as Brent felt somewhat embarrassed by Vernias' outfit - Brent understood what was going on. Why Vernias chose to dress up like this.

He had noticed the exchanged glances between the confident toxicity and the cheerful beam. Since his third day working at the King's Roast, Brent was aware of the tension between these two. No, not the tension - rather the feelings.

Which was weird because Brent hated feelings. Hated the expression of emotions.

But his third shift was quite delightful and the night of this very day made him change his opinion on people and feelings. Just slightly. Just coincidentally. Just because of them.

Despite all of that, him picking up packages from Nick that were addressed to Vernias made him want to vomit.

Nick took a deep breath and stepped to the counter. Vernias was chatting with the two people he served and Brent had his back turned toward him.

Nick tried - really tried - to keep his head and eyes turned away from the Kirby Barista. It remained an attempt: his eyes studying the dress Vernias wore.

The cup was clean but Brent didn't turn around to meet Nick's focused eyes. "I want to punch you for making him wear that."

"I'd punch myself, too." Nick's voice was a mumbled whisper, filled with frustration and regret and followed by a quiet sigh.

Vernias and the two customers giggled, having heard every word. One of them whispered to Vernias:

"I told you the idea would be amazing, Pretty Pink Bunny."

Brent rolled his eyes and prepared an extra strong espresso. The person that was going to get it added twenty dollars into the donation jar before turning on his heel to leave the Cafe.

"Leaving already, King?"

Nick didn't turn around, his hand on the door. He was grpping it so hard his knuckles turned white.

"Do you want me to?" He hissed, not turning around, teeth gridded, voice way to high-pitched.

"No. Never." Vernias smirked.

Nick walked to his usual table slowly and while looking to the ground. Vernias stepped back behind the counter and took the espresso out of Brent's hands.

"He needs something sweet right now."

Brent wanted to bury himself.

Nick smiled in his chair.

Almost like he won a bet.)

I'm up way too late again because i was drawing but it's also been way too long without drawing for my liking so oh well. And obviously i had to draw Angel because i adore her. Forgive any spelling mistakes i may make it's past 3:00 in the morningmeow.

First photo Lilith dancing with Angel at prom because Angel is a cutie in her little dress and shawl. And Lily is singing who's that wonderful girl as she spins her all around even though pop music is very just playing around them. Weid ass color layering over them cause i was just having fun doing something silly. Also they're in two entirely different line thicknesses but i don't care enough to fix and repost it meow. Lilith loves angel so much and would be like noticeably sweeter to her than she is to any other PC including my own.

second one angel panics because she didn't know she has suddenly become such a lady's man. Babette is there and she definitely has a big crush on angel. She loves a princely girl who doesn't like sex because babs is asexual and regularly bear sprays people who flirt with her unless they're a hot masc girl with lion like hair. AKa just anyone who looks like Angel.

But the other girl is a PC i haven't actually put out yet. Her name is Genevieve, or Genie. She also likes Angel but she's constantly half dissociated, basically never makes expressions unless you specifically ask her to, and she has no emotional recognition so she doesn't know she likes Angel. In my head they met because someone was harassing Genie and Angel swooped i to swing on them right as Genie was about to stab them in the face. And she was like oh wow someone is doing the hard part for me. I should give her a cool keychain and some strawberry jammie. People like neat jam jars right?

And ever since she follows angel like a lost puppy, keeps giving little trinkets she finds like a pup showing you its favorite toy, and sometimes just gives her money because she has no understanding of the actual value of money she just knows other people need it.

I need to include a fun fact in all my posts so fun fact neither of them are actually real angels. They're what i like to think of as imitation angels which are just divine angel adjacent things who aren't bound by the same rules as actual angels. I don't really care that much about canon at this point when it comes to making my PCs because restricting myself when i know im insane about super natural and horror stuff is like that image of the werewolf tearing its shirt off.

Those two little imitation angels are so majorly possessive of Angel as soon as they get their grubby little hands on her and i have literally over 16 drawing ideas in a big list that I want to make of just Angel and my freaks interacting. Im gonna shit myself if i dont get the chnace to draw them all.

also genie is a puppy angel thing i was just entirely tooo lazy to properly connect her dog ears in this drawing.
