A Christmas Memory Truman Capote Limited Edition Signed and Numbered Copy number 382 of 600 copies. A Christmas Memory was a short story written by Truman Capote. Originally published in Mademoiselle magazine in December 1956 then reprinted in 1963. It first showed up as a stand-alone book in 1966. The story was actually adapted into tv specials, theatre and even opera. This rare book is a limited, numbered, autographed edition number 382 signed by Truman Capote. Only 600 copies were printed. The slipcase was designed by George Salter. George Salter, born Georg Salter, was an originally German, and from 1940 onwards US-American book cover designer. He revolutionized cover design for books. The book is dedicated to Catherine Woods, an English teacher at Greenwich High School in Connecticut, with being the first person to recognize Capote's writing talent and to give him guidance. With her encouragement he wrote poems and stories for the school paper, The Green Witch. He did not complete high school and had no further formal education. This book is in very good to excellent condition ..... a real treasure! For her series 'When Red Disappears' Elspeth Diederix, ventured into the secret gardens of the Dutch waters in Zeeland. The benthic flora and fauna of this chilly, turbid, green-grey water turned out to display an extraordinary visual richness that was a perfect complement to the large body of botanical work that Diederix has made in gardens and parks. Enthused and inspired, she took on the ordeal of diving there in order to make underwater photographs of the astonishing colour formations revealed by her lights. Through Diederix’ goggles we glimpse an unspoiled underwater paradise, where life – in the form of shells, sponges, seaweeds, anemones and other organisms – shows its most colourful side.

Alphabet books! They're a cornerstone of any great library for kids, and I recently realized that I've shared very few of them. So today's book is a little known favourite from my own bookshelf: "The Enormous Mister Schmupsle! An ABC Adventure!" (2003) by Joe Murray. Guglielmo Ulrich (1904-1977), architetto, disegnatore, arredatore, pittore, è senz'altro uno dei personaggi più interessanti della storia del mobile moderno italiano. Compresa tra gli ultimi anni Venti e Settanta, la sua opera è parte fondamentale dell'evoluzione stessa della cultura architettonica italiana e della nascita stessa di un'identità del design italiano. Legato a Gio Ponti e a tutto quel gruppo che, gravitante intorno alla rivista “Domus”, propugnava una forte modernizzazione del gusto e della casa, Ulrich seppe tuttavia mantenere un saldo rapporto con la tradizione e in particolare con quella borghese sette-ottocentesca, di cui fu elegante interprete moderno. Questa sua capacità di porre, in un momento di rottura generalizzata, un saldo rapporto tra storia e modernità, tra tradizione e innovazione, ne fa un personaggio che merita un posto da protagonista nella storia del design italiano ed europeo.
