See this is my jason lives au which means I get to decide what Jason would do with his life if he never died and I've decided he's gonna be a doctor which kinda lends itself to him being more of a support hero

this is just my opinion but i think any good media needs obsession behind it. it needs passion, the kind of passion that's no longer "gentle scented candle" and is now "oh shit the house caught on fire". it needs a creator that's biting the floorboards and gnawing the story off their skin. creators are supposed to be wild animals. they are supposed to want to tell a story with the ferocity of eating a good stone fruit while standing over the sink. the same protective, strange instinct as being 7 and making mud potions in pink teacups: you gotta get weird with it.

good media needs unhinged, googling-at-midnight kind of energy. it needs "what kind of seams are invented on this planet" energy and "im just gonna trust the audience to roll with me about this" energy. it needs one person (at least) screaming into the void with so much drive and energy that it forces the story to be real.

sometimes people are baffled when fanfic has some stunning jaw-dropping tattoo-it-on-you lines. and i'm like - well, i don't go here, but that makes sense to me. of fucking course people who have this amount of passion are going to create something good. they moved from a place of genuine love and enjoyment.

so yeah, duh! saturday cartoons have banger lines. random street art is sometimes the most precious heart-wrenching shit you've ever seen. someone singing on tiktok ends up creating your next favorite song. youtubers are giving us 5 hours of carefully researched content. all of this is the impossible equation to latestage capitalism. like, you can't force something to be good. AI cannot make it good. no amount of focus-group testing or market research. what makes a story worth listening to is that someone cares so much about telling it - through dance, art, music, whatever it takes - that they are just a little unhinged about it.

one time my friend told me he stayed up all night researching how many ways there are to peel an orange. he wrote me a poem that made me cry on public transportation. the love came through it like pith, you know? the words all came apart in my hands. it tasted like breakfast.

I don't really watch the dc live action films but apparently they're gonna have Green Lantern again and Kyle Chandler was cast as Hal, was wondering what you thought about that??

i’m not personally familiar w his works and i can’t have a full opinion until i see his hal acting, but for first impressions alone… i get the vision. he’s not my first choice, but apparently he wasn’t their first choice either, and considering the other controversial names that were floating around (*cough* ryanreynolds *cough* joshbrolin), i can only sigh in relief that the role went to literally anyone else

visually, i would have to get used to the idea of him as hal, not bc they’re portraying him as an older man this time (which should not be so contentious?? hal is old), but mostly bc he’s a real person and hal looks in my head like how i draw him ☺️ also kyle chandler has incredibly distinct eyes that i don’t associate w hal, but i’m excited to have my mind changed abt it if only for a single show

but like i said, i see the vision. i tried to watch some of his works to get a sense of his acting, and idk how they’re going to write hal in this, but kyle def has the range to play charismatic characters as well as comedic ones, so i’m rly curious for how this will play out. if i had to nitpick, i think his voice is jarring for hal, but that’s bc hal’s voice is one of his most distinct and defining traits to me. i literally had a dream once that they made a new GL movie and the whole time i was trying to judge whether or not the the actor’s voice sounded enough like hal, so obviously i have my priorities straight lol

all in all, i like this casting so far! less psyched abt guy’s (he was my perfect hal voice T__T), but i’m excited to see how aaron pierre plays john! apparently it was between him and stephan james, but aaron had better chemistry w kyle, so maybe that means more john and hal interactions! also he was on the beach that makes you old, which has nothing to do w anything, but i just found out and it made me laugh so i’m sharing this information w you too

Do Leo and Usagi hate each other in the post apocalyptic future?

Not really...? They just have a bit of unresolved tension. I have a lil storyline in my head where they kinda split up a little before the apocalypse started. Usagi went back home for a few years and Leo obviously stayed behind. Usagi would have eventually caught word of what was happening in New York with the Krang and the resistance and makes the journey back to rejoin Leo. I think Usagi kind of 'convinces' himself that Leo could use the help from an old 'friend' (wink wink) and uses that as his excuse to rejoin him. In reality, Usagi misses Leo very much and wants to support him...aw.

Anywhizzle, they left off on rough terms, so Usagi's main focus was originally just to help out Leo and possibly join the resistance if necessary, not to re-kindle a relationship. However, both of them never really let go of their feelings for each other when they were apart, so they do end up getting back together. In my lil story, I imagine that they aren't actually very public or open about being back in a relationship. Especially with Leo now being the leader of the resistance, he doesn't really have time or energy to spend on an open relationship and Usagi understands and respects this. However, they do manage to find time to spend with each other and talk and do normal couple stuff to 'recuperate' away from the war. Usagi stays and doesn't leave his side, and knowing me and how I write 'stories', things will probably not end well or happily ever after for them. Then again, this is all just a lil ramble of a story that probably won't happen...so yeah

You might find the Dreamer trilogy disappointing, especially on the gay front. It's really just Ronan/Declan/Matthew's story and the others are backgrounded, particularly Adam if I recall right.

The author kinda went off on Twitter at Ronan x Adam fans who she said were harassing her about the ship, saying (in paraphrase) that they were her characters and that and that she was not going to change the story to add more Ronan/Adam. The harassment was enough to make her declare that she wasn't going to write any more of these characters after the Dreamer trilogy. That desire to be done with it all (along w/ her adrenal disease) might have caused her to rush finishing the series.

As soon as you started the series and got into Ronan/Adam, I had debated on whether or not to go into what happened with the author. Now that's you're considering the Dreamer trilogy, I wanted to give a little head's up especially if you're holding out for a lot more Ronan/Adam.

ahh, man. that's disappointing! both about the story and the author. i do like the lynch brothers, but, yeah. my main interest was ronan and adam. whelp! that's a bummer :(
