Because people were voting for Cecil out of love for him and this site and the weird parts of it that we can all enjoy like wizardposting and the eldritch horrors and the monsterfucking.

But Vriska? We were voting for her out of spite. Vriska is the polar opposite of Cecil. Vriska is the smell of Smirnoff and sharpie. Of piss in a ballpit. She was rabid tumblr. Of voting for Bayonetta so Miku couldn't reach her, which turned a lot of people against her.

Welcome to Round 2 of the Dissociation Swag Competition!

The Dissociation Swag Competition is a for-fun Tumblr tournament where nominated characters are competing in a friendly competition to celebrate those of us of the dissociative spectrum, including but not limited to: Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Depersonalization-Derealization Disorder (DPDR), Dissociative Amnesia, Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD), Unspecified Dissociative Disorder (UDD), or simply anyone who experiences dissociation on a recurring basis!

As a note, this is not meant to romanticize mental illness, but rather push for more positive representation of our conditions. As someone with DPDR, I think it's important to be able to look up to characters who are like me and not just scary serial killers, and we deserve positive representation just as much as those with anxiety, depression, or other mental illnesses!

As a reminder, be kind during the competition, this is all for fun and has no stakes! Cheer on your blorbos, but don't be mean to the other competitors nor those rooting for them please!

Everyone is now sharing their stories about Night Vale and how important it is to them or how big, important it is in tumblr history and everyone is “know your roots”, “remember your history” and people feel obligated by their 2013selfes and tumblr history to vote cecil. And it’s all cool and amazing but can we talk about fiction podcast community specifically? How big thing it is for podcasts fans? I think that by now all podcasts fan accounts that I follow reblogged something cecilsweep related even though till now I haven’t seen majority of them post any wtnv content. I’ve seen two official podcast accounts mention and reblog the poll. The whole community just went and was like “yeah, he’s one of ours so let’s try to make him win”. We are all collectively this eager mother screaming “you go sweety!” when her child is performing. And god, there’s is this aura of unity and solidarity and it’s so nice. And of course everyone either listened to wtnv, started it or at least knows about its impact on the whole medium. But I think it’s not only this. I guess there is this certain knowledge that something that big happens to the podcast very rarely and every chance at it is worth fighting for it and celebrating. And I guess I love the fact that instead of being petty or jealous everyone came together in solidarity. Love you guys <3
