In all honesty, I think the only song in a Peter Lorre film I can really remember has to be ‘Ja die Polizei’ - it’s got a simple melody and it’s played so many times in that film you’d think everyone’s lives depend on it (well, it’s probably only twice, but I feel like it permeates the whole film)

I do quite like it too! It’s a fun little song and I sometimes find myself humming it whenever I see some cops patrolling. Also Lorre is so adorable with his little moustache and bounce! I would’ve given so much to have him be a detective à la Columbo or Poirot. Of course there’s mr Moto, but I would’ve liked more films with his inspector Fuessli !

What are some of the most earwormy songs from Peter Lorres films to you guys?

'Ja die Polizei' from Was frauen Träumen seems to be a pretty popular one among Peter fans and 'As time goes by' is quite well liked in general, but what others do you like or get stuck in your head all the time?

I wouldn't say I like it perse, but I constantly have that damn Zulu warrior/zulu King song from Rope of sand stuck in my head. Especially that fucking "dup duppy dup duppy dup duh da da dup duppy dup duppy dup da da" bit. Drives me crazy

Also I really enjoy that weird, jaunty song from the opening of 'die Koffer des herrn O.F.' It seems like an appropriate song for Stix

And while we're on opening songs for films, AAOL has a pretty good one. I especially enjoy that the opening theme has the same tune as the hymn that the aunts are singing at Mr Hoskins(and Mr Spenalzos) funeral later aswell as that little happydale song Mortimer sings at the end of the film when he's "pretending" to be insane

I know Peter played in the mr Moto series but I so wish he played in more mysteries - like I’d so watch this one with Louie and Kopelpeck! Or what if Cornelius van Leyden in the Mask of Dimitrios had his own mystery series? What if Poirot had already been serialised in the 30s? And he’d played it?? Hell, what if little Otto Fuessli made it as a recurring character???

I come out of the valley of disease and suffering barely in one piece only to sit in an office and make an animation for some local government about building new neighborhoods? I want my money back. I was made to lounge like a decadent dandy on my pap��’s money and travel and solve mysteries or something

Oh the dice scene! I love how completely deadpan he does it too! He’s so adorable in this film! I would love to have had a detective series with his character in it!
