We’re so #blessed as we felt like part of the family! This #basement #inlawsuite was in serious need of an overhaul. The code violations, (by no fault of our client) were abundant; but with a plan and a little elbow grease this is now a safe, functional and beautiful living space! We utilized every allowable nook a cranny to maximize storage, starting with the relocation of the laundry to a hideaway closet. This move gave us the opportunity to double the counter space with ample cabinetry and create a pass through window allowing plenty of natural sunlight to flow into the living room from the kitchen window. Adieu good friend, we will meet another day. 😢 On a brighter note....these custom stairs...sexy. Dead sexy. With a revealing bullnose, (rounded edge), it gives a warm pop and a sharp contrast to a crisp white stringer (stair supports). Sometimes one partner may be a little more experienced than the other when it comes to this kind of stuff, so be patient and explain as you go; your partner will appreciate not being left in the dark. It looks as though whoever installed the plumbing (we’re assuming sometime in the 80’s) had to prioritize the location of the toilet-or the structural integrity for rear support beam of the house. By the looks of it-he or she had a saw in hand, and reeeaaalllllllyyy had to “go”!
