While I was at work on Saturday @caffeeblack headed over to @arlingtonfive to see the new murals being painted. He maaaay have picked up some new camera gear that he wanted to try out. Let's just say the following day we snuck over to see some progress pics on the art. All I can say ins AMAZING! I am so excited to see what is in store for Ottawa with all this amazing talent. Last year we travelled to Montreal to check out @up_mtl and we have always wanted to experience that scale on this side of the river. (We have the talent and passion we just need the @cityofottawa to step up their game to have more public space for art out there! ) When you can see the artists working on a mural it makes it more tangible. I can not say this enough, the works are incredible. Please go out there and take a look up close, there is so much eye candy there. . As the summer starts to wrap up, I certainly have been lucky to see an art glow-up in this beautiful city of ours. So... we did a thing this past month... I was a little MIA due to uprooting our lives and moving into a much needed new and improved home. With all the craziness in the world we had so many amazing people that rallied around us so that we could accomplish this task. We have settled in for the most part, however we are in the process of setting up the studio so that we can start some new stuff. More photos to come in the next few weeks when we get more settled. Shout out to @jurchuk @jurassic831 @celclady.cj @kispell @juronico @k_jurchuk without your participation we would not be where we are now. There were so many hot days in July, and let's be honest, noone likes moving, but through will power and baby steps we did it. And it wasn't nearly as stress filled as I thought it would have been. With the old keys handed in and everything set up we can start our new chapter. We wanted to have more people over for moving day, but as we know Good Ole' Corona is giving us a run for our money. Due to social distancing we had to refuse many helping hands. To these people I would also like to say thank you! It was so lovely to have such amazing friends ready to mobilize. One more try with UV reactive paints. The difficulty is with the paint that I was able to source in Ottawa. It requires so many layers in order to create a uniform glow. The pigments aren't concentrated enough. I'm working on a stained glass sort of design where I can focus the colour in smaller areas. It means that the surface of the painting is very textured while dry. It also means I've gone through 4 bottles of paint. Last year I began this piece with the intention of it being a start of something new in the pieces I create. More composition. More recognizable imagery, a new type of paper and brand new pens. Sometimes you over think things too much. Paralysis through analysis. I finally had to let this one go. I had to accept the perceived flaws and embrace the new techniques and lessons learned. This work is a collaboration between Peter Kolisnyk "Ground Outline" And @gardeningbydesign Engelina Schmitz/Eva Schmitz/ Mary-Ann Schmitz/Erin Charlebois called "Beehaven" Kolisnyk was a Canadian Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1934, his work highlights bold shapes and colours.
