Hi! If you've got some ideas, how about: Sidekick hopelessly in love with Hero-Turned-Villain. The kind that sticks by them, even at their most villainous.

Devoted Sidekick x Hero-Turned-Villain

"I feel betrayed," the villain said, running a hand through their hair as they paced back and forth, lost in thought. "They used me," they continued, "took advantage of my powers. And for what? The greater good? Bullshit. There's no such thing. Not anymore." Sidekick watched them pace, memorizing the angry lines on their face. "So much for loyalty," the villain spat. "But, at least I have you, Sidekick."

Villain wanted to burn this city to the ground. After so many years of protecting it, not receiving an ounce of gratitude for risking their life day after day, they wanted destroy what they once swore to keep safe. And Sidekick would stand by their side, even after the city was nothing but ashes.

Villain's line of morality had long since blurred. Sidekick had watched them change from a Hero with a heart of gold to a Villain that was broken and angry. The world had wronged Villain. Sidekick had watched it happen. And they'll be damned before they let Villain take on the wrongs and rights of the world on their own.

Sidekick who has a... sidekick?

Hero enters the lunch room.

"Sidekick." Hero calls from across the room. Sidekick perks up and then rolls their eyes at the sight of hero before getting up and walking to them.

Hero motions for them to follow. They reach heros office.

"Am i getting a promotion?" Sidekick asks hopefully. The hero laughs and shakes their head. Sidekick sighs.

"No, you're getting a sidekick" hero says. Sidekick stares in disbelief.

"Like a trainee?"

"No, like a cat." Hero motions to a large crate on their desk, it's covered with a thin blanket. Hero motions for sidekick to lift the blanket.

Sidekick lifts up the blanket and open the crate. A large cat pops its head out with a loud meow, sidekicks eyes widen. The cat is adorable and a ball of fluff.

"Why am I getting... a cat sidekick? I love cats sure but they are lazy as shit hero! How is this supposed to help me!" Sidekick asks in disbelief at the large feline. Who jumps out of the box and rubs up on sidekicks leg, purring and meowing.

Hero laughs. "This cat is trained by heros for heros. I think it would be nice for you to have a loyal companion to help you with your missions"

"I'm not a hero I'm a sidekick!"

"Not anymore." Hero smiles and slides a badge across their desk. Sidekick looks at it in disbelief, they did get a promotion. Hero hands them the badge.

"Your first mission as a hero is with me next week. We've got villians to take down now. Off you go, shoo." Hero says smiling. Sidekick has a wide smile of their own as they grace the badge and jump up and down while exiting the room, the cat following close behind.

Sidekick just got a sidekick.

My serious musical!Utterson headcanon that is actually somewhat based on the script (namely, the fact that the character literally only exists in relation to Jekyll, even more so than Emma and Lucy):

The love that Utterson feels towards Jekyll is very obsessive, unhealthy and generally unhappy in nature. He lets Jekyll and all his bullshit live in his head rent-free 24/7 and is unable (maybe also unwilling?) to evict him – or to say no to him whenever Jekyll wants to involve him in said bullshit, for that matter. He's been harboring that love/obsession for a long time, and in some ways, he's almost grown to detest Jekyll for inspiring such emotions in him.

Of course, the real reason Utterson's whole existence seems to revolve around Jekyll is simply because he's written as a plot device, not as a 3D character – but for a Watsonian interpretation, I like to think it stems from Utterson having some rather dark obsessive tendencies, even if he's quite adept at hiding them.

If he got that sippy of HJ7 I was posting about earlier, after decking Jekyll, maybe he'd go on some insane Frollo-style tirade about how Jekyll is ruining his life by forcing him to love him or whatever.

"I will find that hero and kill them, what has happened to y-" The sidekick covered their mouth, trying to muffle their sobs. The loud noise made by the sidekick was giving the villain a headache.

"If you don't shut up write now, I'm going to shove this scalpel down your throat. I'm going to stitch you up now, so brace yourself."

At that the villain promptly broke into tears. They had only joined the Agency for the mysterious and cool aesthetic but now they were getting repeatedly stabbed in their ass.

And not in a way they liked.

The sidekick is in love with the villain and hero, but they don't know. Nor do they show any sign of liking the sidekick back. In fact, the sidekick has to suppress their feeling of jealousy, every time the villain flirts with the hero, and the hero flirts back. His heart ached every time at the sight. The sidekick can do nothing but watch them. He keeps a journal, that he writes in every day.

One day, the villain and the hero find the journal.

What made you ship it?

It was the most interesting relationship in the book. I'm a sucker for childhood friends with broken promises, for grief, for misunderstandings over loyalty and love, and for relationships whose resolution in canon is bittersweet.

It still took some time and effort before I started really shipping it. I was theoretically open to shipping it but I hadn't yet read fics that really sold me on it (this was in 2019, I think). Then as an experiment I put a WWX-inspired character in the setting I was GMing for the JC and JYL NPC stand-ins to have him to play off of. Turned out I did ship them.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

It's never simple with them. It's always fraught. They love one another but they also resent one another. Hunting demonic cultivators is about WWX still maybe being alive. Maybe JC can bring himself to kill WWX this time, or maybe he can find a way to bring WWX back home and forgive him. WWX promises to be with JC but he ends up promising that he won't stay ("like my father served your father") but he didn't mean it with an end. the mess that is the fraughtness of WWX's liminal space when it comes to his social rank.

love hurts, what hurts is love.

the fact that the one 'leading' is WWX, not JC, going against the accepted social order. (tbh, if that wasn't the case, I probably wouldn't be into the ship.) it paints such a picture of WWX being so charismatic, and JC being so taken with him, that JC falls into being WWX's sidekick. no wonder YZY was awful about it.

JC keeping Chenqing like a mad dog and keeping Lotus Pier WWX-safe. I. god. JC rating WWX's attention >>>>>>>>>>>>> JC's self-respect every time, in every way. Amazing.

it's incredible to me how WWX asks JYL about love in a scene framed in a manner to make it subtextually point in the direction of LWJ (it's mdzs; the canon pair in mdzs is wgxn; there are no - explicit - love triangles in mdzs; and yet even WWX's original crush on LWJ is, uh. informed by JC and how WWX is with JC and the fact that LWJ is New and Not The Son of WWX's Benefactor. this is normal.), where it's apparent that WWX is scared of being in love because it changes how you act, it's a limit, it's a cage, you're limiting yourself for someone else - and then WWX does something for JC that is everything he was scared of.

and it does ruin him! it's terrible! so his romance with LWJ is everything his feelings for JC weren't. He's not the one doing the protecting. LWJ doesn't question him. There are no expectations of anything, no discussions of the future, no thoughts of society. LWJ is just such a comfort, just a good thing WWX gets because he wants it. Also LWJ isn't emotionally taxing af (this is a big one). (WWX kinda ends up YZY-ing himself at the end of the book but I'm not thinking about that.)

WWX's utter toxicity toward JC. not a iota of respect for either JC or JC's boundaries to be found, except when convenient for WWX.

they both really, really believe that WWX is better than JC in every way. it's very cool

look. i'm a simple person. arrogant genius jerk/grumpy dutiful tsundere otp.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I love the joke that chengxian isn't incest but both of them wish it were, but I think the only time one of them wished they were brothers was JC when he decided to sacrifice himself for WWX and he was lying in bed making morbid jokes. At least sacrificing yourself for your brother who is the better cultivator and can lead the sect would be simple. Forgivable. Good.

I also think they might grow to think of one another as brothers at some point post-canon, that's a sort of reconciliation that might happen, but to me it's key that during canon they don't know what they are to one another, they just know they're scarily, terrifyingly important, and there's no word for what they are to one another.

JC refused shixiong-shidi (in a shocking reversal of their normal dynamic, I think he forgot he did that and spent roughly two decades feeling insecure and weird that WWX doesn't call him shidi) and they can be nothing else, socially speaking. The love that dare not speak its name, if you would. And at that same time post-canon they could also decide that what they're to each other is that WWX used to be in love with JC, and maybe JC still is, and they're not brothers. Or maybe both! The point is, the definition of their relationship is uncharted waters and they never thought of each other as 'brothers' (much less called each other that).

2) WWX is incredibly bitter and resentful of giving his core to JC and that colors everything he thinks and says about JC afterwards, including after he's returned to life. Basically, he gave, and gave, and gave, and felt there was no gratitude, and he's unable to live the life he wanted, unable to reap the promises life made him, and JC isn't any more agreeable or tractable than before (less so, in fact!). It's not fair.

Unexpected OTP Pairings ✨

❥ Okay I know Valentine’s Day was last week! Almost two weeks ago! But recently I’ve been wanting to branch out a bit with my blog writing, & writing prompts are something I love a lot! So, I’m trying something new & came up with a few OTP ideas! I hope you enjoy, thank you & have fun!

❥ F x M writing prompts! I didn't specify who is who though so everyone can read!

Former! Villain x Superhero

Not even a real villain, just some dumb person who steals things or who makes evil schemes that always fail. Kind of like Dr. Doofenshmirtz, & they’re actually really nice in real life! But when a superhero comes to stop them, they instantly fall in love! Seriously has heart eyes & doesn't pay any attention to the hero’s grand pre-fight speech.

Or doesn’t put up a fight at all, just hands them the stolen goods & escapes. Leaving Hero completely confused as the Villain they were supposed to stop didn’t even bother fighting, which is still good but they’re still confused.

After this, the Villain now decides to become a Superhero!! To not only impress their new crush but also because they've always really wanted to be one anyways! It was just the push they needed.

Cue them now running the streets in a completely different outfit trying their best to stop the bad guys! Usually, it doesn’t end well though: they’ll trip over the air & let them escape, or maybe just show up late to the fight & it’s already over.

It’s even worse when their Hero crush joins the fray, and then they’re really clumsy or just start sputtering like an old car. Their former henchmen, now turned sidekicks, try to console them as they lay on the couch completely embarrassed by their feats.

Oooooor, they are super confident & much better at being a superhero than they ever were being a Villain. Maybe this confidence goes to their head a bit & will literally try flirting with Hero on the battlefield! Hero gets a bit embarrassed sometimes & their other super-friends tease them about it. If this does happen, Hero might end up trying to run away from the former Villain in an effort to focus on their job. But it just ends up being really funny to watch.

Bonus: They have opposite powers or maybe one has no powers at all.

Dashing Thief x Friendly! Detective

I'm sorry this one is a bit short!

A notorious thief with a heart of gold who only ever steals from bad guys & acts more as a Robin Hood character than any. Hardly ever keeps anything for themselves; just struts around after dark on the lookout for anything suspicious. Not one person has been able to catch them & their identity remains a mystery. Would be cool if they were a nobleman/woman or had some kind of big fancy hideout. 

The detective is actually their friend/partner (maybe)! The good egg who actually sees the thief’s true intentions instead of just mucking around in a Halloween costume. Although they're pretty ticked at the way Thief does things, they usually keep their coworkers & the boss off Thief's trail. Maybe a newbie or an intern at the detective agency, determined to prove themselves on the field. 

Maybe they met as civilians & the thief switched to a disguise to hide from authorities, but bumped into the detective who was out on a coffee break. It was love at first sight for both of them, so cute! 😆 They do a lot of coffee dates now, but sometimes Detective overdoes it.....

One is the brains, and the other is the brawn. Together they can get any job done! The Detective’s coworkers find it strange how the Thief shows up more often when they're specifically on the job. The Boss is suspicious but sometimes finds them cute.

Often swing by each other’s places to not only hangout but help each other with cases or special kinds of info. If the Thief has any sidekicks, no doubt they’ll spill funny stories of missions gone wrong or close calls. 

Stealing each other's hats and impersonating the other one for fun, then cue a playful chase scene around the room! So cute!

Dragon x Wizard

I know some people like fantasy stuff!

A dragon is resting in their cave until they hears footsteps at the entrance. But instead of finding a grumpy old knight, they find a wizard! Maybe the Wizard was exploring the caves nearby or on a journey to the next town, but instead of feeling scared or angry, they started fangirling/fanboying over the dragon instead! 😆

Likes to ask them all sorts of questions & sometimes can’t stop talking. Now Wizard can come whenever they like & the two become friends!

The Wizard visits whenever they can, showing off all sorts of new spells or potions they've created. Even though it might not be as impressive as their fire, the Dragon still finds it cool & applauds.

The Dragon will always try to impress their wizard friend with tall tales of each piece of treasure. How they got it, where they found it, if they fought anyone over it, etc. But sometimes those stories are exaggerated…

The Wizard will be in absolute awe at the Dragon’s stories & can’t help but be a complete chatterbox about it. Asking more questions about different things like how their magic works, how they can fly with all that extra weight, or if they can learn a fire-breathing spell from them instead—

If the Wizard lives in a tower then the Dragon will visit just as frequently! Usually it’s in the early morning or during sundown when there are fewer people around. But if the Wizard lives in a town or city, it might take some time for the Dragon to come around. It’s not that they don’t care, but dragons are more solitary creatures. Either way, they enjoy each other's company & the dragon likes to ask questions about different thingamabobs on the Wizard's shelves.

They can both be pretty clingy but that’s sometimes a bit tough to handle because the poor wizard has to be extra careful, especially with pouring bottles or waving their wand around if they’re not even two feet apart. Doesn’t mind but sometimes will complain a bit if their partner won’t stay cooperate.

Extra Duo!

Since I loved the superhero one a lot I thought of another one: what if a Hero’s Sidekick & a Villain’s Henchman fall in love!

The Henchman does end up giving Sidekick any tips about their next plan. Cue the Villain throwing a tantrum in their lair wondering why the Hero is always one step ahead of them. 😅

They like to hangout in civilian settings together! Bonus if they found out their secret identities on accident lol

Extra Bonus if the Henchman or both villains become heroes at the end!

ya know, going into the acolyte having seen gifs of osha and qimir (and not knowing that mae was a separate person), i really thought it was gonna be my enemies to lovers otp. and they had me for a second in the little apothecary shop when he sussed out she wasn't mae immediately (not like she made it hard).

but the enemies part of it never really kicked in, ya know? like the stakes never felt real? every moment where she was like "I"m gonna kill you" never felt like it had any real weight. and they're cute, they have chemistry (that's likely just amandla and manny), but they aren't enemies to lovers and their tension is just sexual tension and that's fine but it's maybe a little uninteresting for me personally.

now maemir? layers. he lied to her. she maybe knew that the whole time. she betrayed him. he tried to kill her. he could have killed her. why didn't he kill her? they spent ten plus years together before all this shit went down. there's history. it's all gone now because he erased her memory. that's good shit.

and yeah yeah yeah manny and amandla and everyone is propping oshamir up on a pedestal rn and saying maemir is a sibling dynamic but like have you considered fuck that? we make our own fun. the sibling dynamic existed between the fake bumbling persona qirmir was putting on to keep mae from knowing who he really was, mae has never actually met the real qimir. mae knew the sidekick, and knew her master, and then she didn't know either. IT'S GOOD SHIT.

favorite thing about them - his tits on a meta level, i think what i appreciate most about scott is that it feels as though he was bio-engineered in a lab to be specifically catered to me. hairy, bearded, muscular, jockish, funny, kind, endlessly optimistic, stupid as hell, AND has canonically committed multiple atrocities as a big, sexy werewolf? be still, my beating heart. i feel like the monster prom creators stalked my social media circa 2017-2018 and collectively agreed that they were gonna make a dating sim ro that would make this one specific gayboy so, SO happy.

least favorite thing about them - also on a meta level. look. im not a nasty little hater (except when i am), but i have to admit that the writers are CONSTANTLY shoving him to the side in favor of the rest of the cast. even in his own game, Monster Roadtrip, a majority of the events tend to lean on polly being the center-focus with scott acting as her sidekick. this was esp apparent in the End of the Road ending where Polly was basically the main character while Scott was also There (sort of). ill admit i partially understand this since polly is generally a more active character while scott is more reactive, but still, id love to see my boy get his kudos

favorite line - there's so many good ones but im just gonna with one based on a recent screenshot i took: "I really like macaroni, but I'm not allowed to boil water by myself, so I just eat the noodles raw."

OTP - Scott howl x ME!! i like him and brian a lot, i think they're cute. im a sucker for jock x jock and golden retriever x constantly tired so the two of them manage to hit a sweet spot for me.

nOTP - the game keeps trying to push scott x vicky or scott x amira and like, im sorry, but trying to get me to ship Bara Icon Scott Howl with women? im calling homophobia. besides im more of a vicky x vera and amira x damien guy so on all fronts those ships just dont really appeal to me

random headcanon - for reasons i cant disclose this has been canonically refuted but i always pictured scott's grandma as one of those very classic horror movie werewolves- all fangs, all carnage, very little sexy (unless you're into that sort of thing, in which case, hey. you do you). she used to be the alpha of the pack back in her day and was an absolute menace to monster society, until she got a little older and settled down. still, she secretly craves the old days when monsters could be monsters, and keeps trying to convince scott to embrace his more animalistic side, even though he keeps telling her that murder isnt actually really mean and you probably shouldn't do it.

unpopular opinion - the monster prom fandom doesnt really have that much discourse so i dont know whats an unpopular opinion vs what isnt. uuuh i think scott should have won that popularity poll back when monster prom was still getting updates and gotten the new secret ending instead of damien's "punch the sun" ending

A forming of thoughts seethed into the hero’s head, whilst he watched the villain flirt with their sidekick. Perhaps, a feeling that he wasn't quite ready to name it yet. An emotion that he so long ago buried inside of him that was menacing to rise again. He watched as his sidekick blushed, hearing the villain's words. What words, the hero didn't want to know.

When he first arrived at the location, he didn't expect their sidekick to be with the villain. But now what? The sidekick is with the villain, what was he to make of that? Was the sidekick betraying him? He shook his head, trying to get it out of his head, even though he failed to do so miserably. He was hiding behind a building, watching the villain and the sidekick still talking about something without a care in the world. He decided to slowly move out from where he was hiding, and just face him.

The villain and the sidekick didn't notice the hero until he was literally in front of them, with a gun in his hand pointed at them.

"What the hell are you doing here?" The hero sneered. The sidekick's eyes widened, as the villain looked between them.

"Listen, it's not as it seems, okay?" The sidekick attempted to say, the hero advanced towards him, slowly. Almost like a predator.

"Oh, yeah? I knew you'd betray the company. That you'd betray me-"

"I was just-", The villain cut him off, as he too, daringly walked to the hero.

"He's here on my request." The villain murmured, his voice deep. The hero hated himself for shuddering at it. He kept his hands steady around the gun, but he didn't know if he could do it much longer, because the way the villain was watching closely while walking toward him, made him want to go weak on his knees. A beast awakening inside of him, wanting more. His breath halted, when the villain took the gun out of his hand, tossing it aside, carelessly. "You're not as mighty as you think, hero."

The sidekick stood where he was, stunned.

The villain's scent was so strong, the hero had to move his face away. The other continued, "You know, your sidekick is too loyal to you, he deserves more appreciation rather than your doubt. He'd never betray you, from what I've learned over the past few years fighting you both."

"You don't know him." The hero willed himself to say.

"Well, clearly, you don't either." The villain threw back, arching an eyebrow at the hero.

"It doesn't matter. He-,"

"Look, he came on my request to the superhero. You can ask him, to confirm it. Now, be a good boy and apologize to the sidekick, yeah?" The hero stubbornly glanced away, silent. If someone needed to apologize, it was the sidekick, not him. He should've told the hero about this beforehand, shouldn't he? He scoffed, shuffling his feet to the sidekick.

"You don't have to. It was kind of my fault, too. Should've informed you about this." The sidekick muttered, a little sheepishly. The hero exhaled.

"I'm sorry, still. Sorry for doubting you." The hero said, the sidekick smiled a little and ruffled his hair. The hero bit his lip, shy all of a sudden. The sidekick knew just the right buttons to push to make the hero all coy and whatnot. The villain stood there, smiling.

The real reason the villain had summoned the sidekick was to discuss the hero's birthday party, which the villain planned to throw at his house, but the hero didn't need to know that. At least, not before his birthday.
