Nonnie, I apologize in advance because I'm about to yell at everyone. In a good way, though. I have to laugh whenever people act like Ryan and Oliver are fighting for Buddie behind the scenes because I've (we've) SEEN what fighting looks like thanks to Jesse and Sarah. (all caps for emphasis) SARAH DREW WROTE A LETTER TO KRISTA ASKING HER TO CHANGE APRIL'S EXIT BECAUSE IF SHE COULDN'T BE WITH JACKSON SHE'D RATHER HER CHARACTER BE SINGLE: "I always, always wanted her to end up with Jackson, especially after they had their baby."

April's marriage to Matthew, in the end, felt "rushed" and adds that she and Williams, who left Grey's last season, had "great chemistry."

"I just didn't believe it, because we hadn't seen anything on-screen between [April and] Matthew in that final season," Drew says in the book.

She also reveals she went so far as to pen a letter to showrunner Krista Vernoff asking her to change the ending.

"I even wrote a very passionate letter to Krista after I read that final episode saying 'Can she just walk off? Like maybe kiss him and walk off into the distance doing something as an independent woman? Like, why does she need a man?' [x]

JESSE WILLIAMS WOULD GO TO SET WITH NOTES IN HIS SCRIPTS FOR HOW HE THOUGHT THE EARLY JAPRIL SCENES SHOULD GO: While most TV couples come together because of dialogue written on the page, Japril's beginning is in the margins. And from the second the "Grey's Anatomy" writers decided to give Jackson and April a shot, Williams and Drew told Insider the two of them were fully committed to the story — maybe even a little too much. 

"I remember you showed up with a whole marked-up script with script ideas," Drew laughed, recalling Williams' eagerness to get their first intimate scenes together during the medical boards on season eight right. 

THEY WERE PITCHING A SERIES BASED ON THE WEDDING: Their love was genuine but their choice to get married was impulsive. So their newlywed phase was marred with fights where TV couples are usually allowed a bit of romance. Drew said that she and Williams worked hard to try and fill in gaps for the audience, some of which never came to fruition. 

"We had a whole pitch for an entire series based on that road trip," Drew said of the few scenes we see of Japril traveling together to get married after April runs away from her wedding to Matthew. Williams confirmed that their series pitch is why "Unbreak My Heart" exists. 

AND THEN WHEN JESSE WAS LEAVING AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO REUNITE JAPRIL CAME UP, SARAH DREW WASN'T LETTING ANYBODY FUCK AROUND:

"The pitch that was given to me was April was super pregnant with Matthew's baby and Matthew wasn't home when Jackson came to the house to pitch April on the idea of going to Boston with him," Drew wrote of the original plot for April's return episode. "There was a storm outside and Jackson had to deliver April's baby at the house, and through this whole experience, April decided to bring her whole family to Boston with Jackson." 

"Jesse and I talked about it and thought it would be more satisfying to the audience if they were left with some hope for Japril reuniting," Drew wrote to Insider. "Jesse pitched that to the writers and the writers agreed — and then the story shifted."

What is the work you've made with the angstiest ending? - Fic: All my fics are neutral or positive endings (I think?) - Vid: this TKEM AU where Yeong dies - Podfic: I enjoy narrating big emotions so I have a lot of people-cry-in-this-fic grief/angst and self worth issues stories but often they end on at least an uplifting note. Possibly something in Attack on Titan or X-Men had a and-they-stay-sad ending but I can’t remember something specific to for-sure point at.

What's the work you've made with the happiest ending? So many happy endings (both the emotional kind and the porn kind). I’m not sure I could point to a ‘happiest’ since a lot of them are very happy.

Do you get hate on your works? I’ve had some weird comments but not particularly hate, hopefully that will continue to be true.

Do you create smut? Yup, at least with podfic and fic.

Craziest crossover? I wrote a heralds of valdemar / lord of the rings fic when I was just starting out in fandom.

Have you ever had a work stolen? I hope not.

Have you ever had a work inspired by your works? Very excitingly, people have made vids inspired by my vids which is the absolute coolest thing (Nothing by @nubreed73, and Mei Changsu is Climbing the Mountain by @sandalwoodbox)

Some are complete, some needing editing, some are partially completed and all abandoned due to lack of response. I learned my lesson and now do not record unless I have already received permission or the author has BP.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? For podfic I try! Sometimes I don’t know what I don’t know (see past mispronunciation of French where I thought I knew what I was doing T_T). But having been in into anime, c-dramas, k-dramas, and a variety of fandoms with various languages involved I know I will give it my best shot, possibly fail, and it will take me 2-3x as long to record, but sometimes I can be proud of what I’ve come up with on the far end and that’s nice. Forvo, google translate, and finding friends/acquaintances I know who speak the language have all be helpful.

Favorite work you've made? - Podfic: The Ion Arc by Sunhawk - I started recording this Gundam Wing story in 2008 and finished in 2019 and it clocks in at over 80 hours. This is very difficult because Jonathan def is more likely to sleep in, he's very tired you know? But like can he successfully convince Nancy to stay 5 more minutes? Maybe... if he looked exceptionally pookie. HOWEVER, Nancy has a 99.9% success rate she mumbles 5 more minutes he says say less (Jonathan say no to Nancy challenge. FAILED)

25. Do they have any hobbies they share?

I think reading & writing is the big one. Like I think pre-dating they were recommending books for the other to read maybe underlining and writing notes in the margins. I think when they're older Nancy takes up scrapbooking and that's a bit of a joint hobby. I also KNOW in my bones that they're big on scrabble. Ad of course they love doing the crossword.... Last but not least, does saving the world count as a hobby?

They're both morning people by necessity, but Xena's more begrudging about it, and she cannot for the life of her understand how Gabrielle is so chipper at the break of dawn. Gabrielle makes herself extra chipper so that Xena will get grumpy, because she thinks grumpy Xena is adorable.

11. Who leaves notes in the other one's lunch? (Bonus: what do they say?)

Gabrielle leaves the notes, and they're always little snippets of their adventures. They have annotations scribbled in the margins like, "Too over the top? Not over the top enough? Don't forget to eat your vegetables!"

i think rory could feel it was bigger than a crush already, but she couldn’t said that to lorelai so she just said “it wasn’t a crush”, i think rory wanted to add something about how it is bigger than a crush but i could be wrong!

I'm trying to wrap my mind around the way Rory said, "It wasn't a crush," in response to Lorelai describing her feelings for Jess that way (when they saw him kissing Shane up against a tree)... Like. What does that mean, Rory? Is she implying that the word "crush" is too dismissive and infantilizing a word to describe what to her are much more serious feelings? Or is this girl still SERIOUSLY trying to deny having feelings for him at all, after literally grabbing him and kissing him on the mouth (like a lot?) and admitting that fact to her mother???

2. "What would they do if the other woke in a manic state after a nightmare?" Not entirely uncommon for them, but it depends on who has the nightmare. Since Ebenholz has nightmares more often, Czerny's more practiced in dealing with them, which generally means soothing Ebenholz and calming him down before he does something stupid. Touch and getting their breathing in-sync tends to help, and Ebenholz is also usually calmed by Czerny's heartbeat. Czerny's nightmares are far less frequent but pretty intense, and it's understood that he needs to deal with his emotions immediately so his brain doesn't get stuck. Ebenholz tries to stick by his side and be supportive of whatever he needs to do while making sure he doesn't push himself too hard, be it writing emotions out into a composition or engaging in physical activity to burn away the stress.

13. "Who’s the bigger tease?" Ebenholz. Often without meaning to, since his ass is on the asexual spectrum and he doesn't always realize he's being a tease or that Czerny is in any sort of mood. But when Ebenholz decides to be a tease on purpose? Czerny is absoutely doomed.

35. "Who’s more artistic?" That's a hard one. Czerny goes deeper into his art, always composing and making music, often absently humming or jotting notes down in the middle of whatever he's doing. He doesn't have a lot of other artistic hobbies, though he'll sometimes draw in the margins of his notes; his doodles are honestly kind of cute. Ebenholz has a wider range though, as he's more willing to experiment with genre conventions once he starts composing, and he has a few more artistic hobbies (he picks up jewelry crafting from attempts to improve Kreide's necklace, and he also likes photography. He also pens the occasional poem, but refuses to show them to anyone ever.)

1. I am glad to know you’re not a bot for certain at long last because I enjoy consistently spotting you in my notes, also sorry this took so long.

2. ABSOLUTELY?? You have functionally handed me an early christmas present in an ask. I'm going to divide this up into two posts, this’ll be the Trigun one, I’ll do the Shirazu one in a separate post.

Favorite character: 

LEGATO BLUESUMMERS MY DEAREST. Oh this poor man. I can’t even say “I want him to get better” because he would resist it with all his might and I can’t say I want him to get worse because this man is at rock bottom and actively digging deeper. Hugging him is not enough. I need to divide him into atoms, sort them into categories, and hope it gives him relief. I have 99 problems and seeing Legato heal wouldn’t solve a lot of them but it would be great. 

Least Favorite character: 

Difficult question because I really do like them all. Is none an option. I could just go with a random side character who exists just to be scum of the earth but I suppose if I’m looking for “was marginally involved” Stampede Conrad makes me want to hit my head against a wall. 

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): 

Mashwood and all its individual parts, the insurance girlfriends, Summerknives? Millionssummers? But for the consequences of feelings more than an actual belief that they have the capacity to be a couple. I saw Zaziemeryl once and that was sweet. Everyone x Therapy. 

Character I find most attractive: 

No idea. Wolfwood? I’m starting to realize there are very few characters I’m actually acutely attracted to aesthetically for long periods of time but I’ve been loving his expressions for as long as he’s existed. Also I’m not sure about attractive per say but Zazie has such splendid gender and I would like them to share. 

Character I would marry: 

Vash. I am not immune to his sopping wet energy and the freakish height. I would like to either carry him in my arms or be carried, either is fine.  

Character I would be best friends with: 

Zazie! Or alternatively I would sell my soul for a hug with Milly. I’d say I could have trans solidarity with Elendira but unfortunately she wants everyone dead and that might cause a lot of awkward conversations.

An unpopular opinion: Whenever someone attempts to quantify Legato and Knive’s dynamic as simple pining, mentorship, or even familial, they inherently lop off an intrinsically necessarily quality of that same dynamic which is the fact that Legato does, more than anyone else, see Knives as an actual god. He worships him, and what a terrible thing it is to love your god. Also Roberto was lovely but he did have to die.

What canon couples are there? Whatever the ‘98 anime was trying to set up between Wolfwood and Milly was sweet so I suppose that.

Summary: If Tadashi had stood up for Ainosuke when his board was burned... how might things have been different? [Year of the OTP 2023. April: Canon Divergence] Part 1

Maybe he'd made a mistake, all those years ago.

Tadashi quietly set a cup of tea down in front of Ainosuke, taking in the younger man's exhausted expression, one that would never be shown outside his private rooms. His hard work during his campaigning had finally paid off, but now he had even more work to do as he reviewed bills and tried to draft new ones that would eventually play to his family's advantage. In the eyes of the world, he was a political prodigy and unquestionably successful.

But he almost never smiled anymore.

At least, not genuinely. He smiled almost every day as he answered calls from his constituents and spoke at press conferences and appeared at other photo ops. His smiles then looked real enough, a dazzling grin that turned up the corners of his eyes or a more modest, bashful curve of his lips that heightened the charm of the young, inexperienced legislator. Tadashi was probably the only one who could see behind those charming masks, but that was only because he'd seen Ainosuke before, when he was younger… when he'd actually been happy. The last time Tadashi had seen that uninhibited joy on the other man's face had been before he'd been sent to America. Before the incinerator had turned his childhood and his happiness, along with his skateboard, to ash.

"Thank you, Tadashi." Ainosuke glanced up from his documents to give him a quick, weary smile before picking up a folder and offering it to the older man. "Can you help me double-check the sections I've marked on this one to make sure I haven't missed anything?"

"Of course, sir."

Tadashi accepted the folder, sitting down across from his master and starting to flip through the pages, scanning the indicated sections and reviewing Ainosuke's notes in the margins. Then, picking up a pencil from the cup on Ainosuke's desk, he lightly began to mark a few of his own thoughts and suggestions. The two of them worked in silence, interrupted only by the quiet scratch of their writing and the occasional sound of Ainosuke taking a sip of his tea.

After he'd finished with the first document, Tadashi neatened up the edges before slipping it back into the folder and taking the next without any prompting. In all honesty, Ainosuke was doing far more work than he needed to—most of his colleagues had their team of assistants review everything and give them summaries—but he insisted on it, so Tadashi would do whatever he could to support him. His own work would be easier if he'd accepted Ainosuke's proposal to hire a few more secretaries… but then his master wouldn't have anywhere that he could relax, out of the public eye. They had a political team for everything else, of course, but this work was only done by the two of them. A little discomfort of Tadashi's own was a small price to pay, especially when Ainosuke was working even harder on this than he was.

He'd nearly caught up when Ainosuke sighed, closing another folder before leaning back in his chair and stretching his arms over his head. Instantly, Tadashi looked up from his own file, his eyes flicking toward the empty teacup before fixing on Ainosuke's face.

"More tea, sir?" he asked politely, but Ainosuke shook his head.

"Not now. I'd like to take a short nap before the afternoon session, but I'll need a pillow."

Walking around his desk, he offered a hand to Tadashi. After a moment's hesitation, Tadashi took it, letting himself be pulled to his feet. Ainosuke tugged the half-finished documents out of his hands, laying them down on the desk, before leading him over to the couch. Obediently, Tadashi sat down on it, and then Ainosuke lay down, resting his head against the other man's thigh while still holding onto his hand. His thumb brushed slowly over the back of Tadashi's hand while his eyes closed. The gentle caress didn't stop, though, suggesting that he was having trouble falling asleep, and Tadashi's free hand reached up to comb through his hair. His own fingers pressed gently against Ainosuke's scalp with a soothing pressure, trying to help him relax, and Ainosuke sighed again.

"You've always been here for me," he murmured, and Tadashi made a soft sound of agreement. It was the least that he could do for the other man, though he wished that he could do more. Ainosuke deserved better than this, and more than once, Tadashi had wondered what his master's life would have been like if he'd been born to a different family. One whose "love" was expressed through more than sharp words and nearly impossible expectations. One where he could make his own choices, rather than follow a path that had been laid out for him. One that might not have been able to provide him with the same resources and opportunities… but someone as brilliant and talented as Ainosuke surely wouldn't have needed them, either.

The younger man was too dazzling to languish in this cage with clipped wings. Since his return from America, Tadashi had watched his passion gradually fade as he became perfect: the perfect politician, the perfect son, the perfect man. But in the process, he was forced to bury himself, reflecting only what others wanted to see.

"Do you…" Tadashi hesitated again, wondering if he was making another mistake. Would it be better to leave the past in the past? He didn't want to hurt Ainosuke… and he wasn't sure how they would react, either.

"What is it?"

Looking down at his lap, Tadashi saw that Ainosuke's eyes were open, staring up at him. The intense, scarlet gaze seemed to be piercing into Tadashi's very soul, and the older man swallowed hard.

"It's… it's nothing," he stammered, his heart jolting when Ainosuke frowned.

"What is it?" he repeated, starting to sit up. "Tadashi, what's wrong?"

"No, I'm sorry. Forget about it. You need to rest," Tadashi protested, trying to push Ainosuke back down. The spark of curiosity in ruby eyes suddenly blossomed into a fierce determination, and Ainosuke surged up, pressing their still-interlaced hands against Tadashi's chest to pin him to the couch.

"Tell me," he insisted. Tadashi was too frazzled to come up with a lie on the spot, and he licked his lips as he tried to arrange his thoughts into some sort of logical order.

"Do you… do you want to see Nanjo-san and Sakurayashiki-san again?" he asked softly. The light in Ainosuke's eyes immediately faded as he sat back, his sudden intensity just as quickly lost.

"I can't."

"If they were the same as they were seven years ago, maybe… but I've taken the liberty of looking them up," Tadashi explained carefully, still unsure of whether he was doing the right thing. "Nanjo-san owns his own restaurant, and Sakurayashiki-san is making a name for himself as a master calligrapher. If we were to organize, say, a fundraiser, we'd need catering and appropriate decorations… And, of course, that would involve detailed negotiations with each of the parties…"

He watched Ainosuke's face change as hope crept into it, lending it a slightly vulnerable cast that Tadashi hadn't seen in years. Not since they were children, playing together in the gardens.

"Do you think they'd agree to it?" Ainosuke asked, his voice just as quiet. Tadashi couldn't lie to him, not about something as important as this, so he shrugged slightly.

"I don't know," he admitted. "But if you'd like to try, I can start making inquiries and seeing if they are amenable to it. I promise you, I'll do my best—"

He was startled when Ainosuke suddenly threw himself at him, wrapping his arms around Tadashi's shoulders to hug him tightly.

"That would be incredible! Thank you, Tadashi!"

After a moment, Tadashi raised his own arms, supporting Ainosuke to make sure he wouldn't fall when he let go. His own heart felt lighter as his worries eased. There was still the chance that the other two men weren't interested in rekindling their relationship, but at least in this moment, Ainosuke was happy again.

2. Any sleep habits either had to get used to?

Renila: Akila's probably had to get used to Ren's weird sleeping patterns, aka ability to wake up at will in the middle of the night and be functional. See, Akila grew up surrounded by luxury and leisure in Joko's harem, so Ren's work habits that bleed into her everyday life have probably been a bit of a 0-0 to her when they started living together. On Ren's end, she probably had to get used to Akila sleeping in late more than she does, so she had to be extra quiet to not wake her girlfriend up.

Shiverpeaks Rose: Mirka's had to get used to Fiadh glowing at night. She's used to sleeping in darkness like most people, then she starts living with Fiadh who's a glowstick and a constant source of light in a dark room. That's okay, though. She's the wife.

8. What’s one way their personalities compliment one another?

Renila: See, they're both pretty smart women, pretty perceptive. They have to be, to do what they do (Akila's also a spy, but for Order of Shadows. She joins them after Ren rescued her from the harem.) But I feel like Akila's marginally gentler than Ren is, and also more in tune with herself. That stability that Ren's lacked for a long time is what draws her in, I think. Akila hasn't had to switch identities in quite the same way Ren has, after all.

Shiverpeaks Rose: Fiadh reignited some of Mirka's sense of adventure that stopped for the most part when she had Kov. Dating someone so different from you (in culture, certainly, but in race as well) has been something Mirka never really expected to have but she's loving it, actually.

19. How do they deal with being away from each other for a long time?

Renila: They take a chill night in. Have a glass of wine in their living room, talk about what had had happened in their absence, lazily cuddle/make out, etc. Just enjoying each other's company after being away for so long. Just casual, domestic gfs living their best sappy life.

Shiverpeaks Rose: Spend time with Kov, certainly, but when he's in bed, they go to a moot, have some fun, hunt together. Fly around on Hydra Breacher too, for a good measure.

39. What other couple would your otp get along with the best?

Renila: Nyra and Trahearne? That's the vibes, still tentative. Ren and Nyra are friends, though, so why wouldn't they get along w/ each other's partners, as well..?

Lorelai would be so awful though. But now im thinking about Rory showing up at Walmart to see Jess after school or something and his coworkers just see him kissing that girl being so happy and it weirded them out because they know him as the guy who just does his job without having lots of interaction with anybody 🥺

Haha! That would have been funny. But didn't he work in the back? I think he mostly worked in the stockroom moving crates around on a forklift, so he wouldn't really have much interaction with any customers. It's probably for the best. (Both for him AND for them.) 😆

But if, for some strange reason, he DID have to work with customers on a day when Lorelai stopped in, can you IMAGINE how obnoxious she would be? 😂😭 She'd be like, "Oh, hey! Uh..." *squints at nametag* "...Tess. Could you get that box for me? Waaay up on that top shelf there?" And Jess has to go get a step ladder from the back.

"Ooh, it's got wheels on it! Can I ride on it?"
