Aaaahhh tysm Dolly!! This genuinely made me feel so much better to type out!

1)How did they meet and what were their first impressions of each other?

They technically met on the Whitebeard Pirates— Yara had joined Whitebeard’s crew about two-and-a-half years or so before Ace did and had worked her way up from apprentice to full crewmember by the time that Ace and the Spade Pirates got into their initial clash with Whitebeard. Speaking of which… It’s so funny to look back on it but Yara HATED Ace at first because of his repeated attempts to kill Whitebeard, her captain/surrogate father. A lot of the Whitebeard Pirates weren’t bothered by Ace, knowing that he wasn’t nearly strong enough to hurt Whitebeard, but Yara was. She treated him as if he had the plague and wouldn’t go near him or talk to him. That started to change once Thatch roped her in to helping train Ace’s observation haki and she started to spend a little more time with him, at the same time that he was starting to come out of his initial angry, angsty phase following his initial defeat at Whitebeard’s hands and his battles with Whitebeard transformed from assassination attempts into genuine combat based on mutual respect. Ace on the other hand never had any ill will towards Yara at any point, even when he was shunning the rest of the Whitebeard Pirates’ attempts to reach him. He just thought she was super pretty and cool tbh… also she just gave off Sad Lonely Vibes that reminded him a lot of himself when he was younger, before he had Luffy to take care of.

2) What kind of dynamic do they have with each other?

They have the most black cat/golden retriever energy lmao Ace can be goofy and fun-loving and super affectionate, whereas Yara tends to be a lot more reserved (she’s basically Mihawk Jr, let’s be real lol) but she loves the attention he gives her and she does give him a lot of love in return, in her own way. Mostly through reassurances when he starts to struggle with his self-worth. (I don’t wanna give too much away about Ace’s past but so much of it is genuinely heartbreaking, my poor boy)

3) What do others think of them?

The other Whitebeard Pirates were relieved when they FINALLY figured it out and got together. Marco and Thatch were pretty relentless with the teasing. Whitebeard was happy that two of his “children” managed to find love in spite of everything that had gone wrong in their lives. Luffy adored Yara the moment she offered him a snack (package of dried meat) that she happened to have in her bag and immediately accepted her as his sister (in law)— though he would’ve done so anyways, meat or no meat, as long as Ace is happy.

4) Do they have the same love language as each other?

They don’t, but they know each others’ love languages really well, so it doesn’t ever become an issue. (I think I had it as: Ace— giving: gift-giving, receiving: words of affirmation; Yara— giving: acts of service, receiving: physical touch).

5) Is their joint future bright or bleak?

Well, I can’t say too much without dropping some MAJOR One Piece spoilers, but I like writing them with a bright future where they end up very happy together for the rest of their days.

6) How close are they physically?

Ace is very physically affectionate, which Yara really loves since she’s very touch-starved. He initiates the vast majority of it, but she absolutely soaks it up when he does. She loves playing with his hair and tracing the freckles on his cheeks (she has a major thing for Ace’s freckles. He’s just too adorable).

7) Do they have a desire to protect each other?

Oh, yeah. The New World (the second half of the Grand Line, where the Four Emperors live) is full of danger and they’re constantly getting into tough battles and having to watch the other’s back. Ace is probably more protective than Yara is because of his Big Brother Instincts, but he knows that stepping on Yara’s toes in battle would not bode well for him afterwards.

8) Do they prefer being alone, together, or with others?

Their favourite thing is being alone together! Ace is the life of the party so he’s always happy to be around whoever and Yara prefers being by herself most of the time, so they kind of meet in the middle there lol

9) Do they laugh at each other?

Good-naturedly, yes. Ace does silly things constantly. Yara tries not to laugh, but she can’t help it. He’s just such a goofball and a sweetheart. Even if she’s laughing at him rather than with him, he considers it a major win just to hear her laugh. He thinks it’s the sweetest sound in the world.

10) Who would win in a fight?

Physically? Ahhh I hate to say it, but Ace. He’s ridiculously strong, considering he’s got a Logia-type Devil Fruit and all three forms of haki, including the rare conqueror’s haki. There’s been quite a bit of debate amongst the fandom about just how strong Ace is, but considering he was once asked to join the Seven Warlords at the ripe age of 17 and fought on equal terms with one of them (Jinbe) for five days straight, the general consensus is that he’s pretty OP. Unfortunately for Yara, I’m not sure if she could match that if they ever were to fight seriously.

Verbally? Yara. Every single time. She’s petty and stubborn and won’t hold back from going for the jugular if need be. Ace can also be very stubborn, but when it comes to Yara being angry with him, he folds like a cheap deck of cards lmao

11) Who is a better liar?

Yara. She has a pretty good poker face and if anyone dares accuse her of lying, she turns on the Dracule Death Glare lol

12) Who is a better caregiver?

Yara, because she has a cooler head than Ace does. Whenever she’s hurt/sick, he’ll be zooming around low-key panicking and just wanting her to get better ASAP. If the situation is reversed, Yara is a lot better at calmly assessing just what he needs and delivering it to him efficiently.

13) Who is a better dancer?

Probably Yara, given that she has probably had to pay a lot more attention to stuff like timing and footwork due to her training as a swordswoman.

14) Who is a better cook?

Neither of them really cook but I think Yara would be more responsible in the kitchen. Ace would probably get impatient and try to heat something up with his Devil Fruit powers and end up incinerating it in the process.

15) Who has better fashion sense?

Yara. She’s a Dracule. It runs in the family.

What if Epic is a thing in Yuu's world? Like she's a huge fan and decided for a movie night she first introduces all the boys to it and eventually shows it to everyone at the House of Mouse,

Everyone in the Hercules cast especially will be intrigued by seeing their own selves in a different light. But once they get to the thunder saga (and also gods games), Zeus is sweating bullets meanwhile hades is laughing his butt off from his brother's face,

But at the same time poor Hercules is like "....Dad???" as Meg and Yuu comfort him.

...also for the Vengeance saga everyone (NRC and HoM) especially the couples, Will def cheer after Odysseus says next to my wife.

Okay so first of all, if you want to read a fic where NRC reacts to Epic I highly recommend this because it is truly top tier:

I mean, for the past month I was thinking of a twst reacts to Epic fic (where Yuu acted in EPIC back in her world and the school/RSA reacted to it through some type of magic - it was kind of set in this universe where Yuu was a theatre actress before entering twst. I mentioned once that I had a theatre!Yuu that is friends with RSA and once played Christine Daaé back home. This is that AU) and then I just stumbled across this two days ago and my mind was literally blown! The saying that that there are no original experiences is really true!

Basically Yuu (who's female in this fic) is doing some extra credit work so she asks her friends to act in one of her favourite musicals and NRC reacts to this. Ace plays Ody and Deuce is Telemachus and Yuu plays practically every female character (I'm not going to spoil who plays the other characters). Also this has Aceyuu which is practically my OTP.

I'm also a huge fan of the Disney Princess React series where the Disney Princess, Princes and practically all the good characters from before their movies react to their future so I have been thinking of a Disney characters + Epic cast reacts to Epic fic.

Okay so according to Google, Hercules comes before the Odyssey so none of the Hercules cast would know anything about the Trojan War or Odysseus which would make this even cooler!

I've never watched the Hercules tv show except for that one crossover it did with Aladdin so I don't really know how the gods/goddesses are portrayed but I do know that the movie took a lot of ... creative liberty to say the least.

But can you imagine the cast of The Little Mermaid/Octavinelle reacting to Suffering/Different Beasts where the sirens come to kill the crew only to get slaughtered. Also, I have a feeling that Triton would be leaving his trident back home in the palace for the next few weeks.

But imagine every sailors' (e.g. Eric, the pirates, etc) reaction to Ruthlessness and the absolute carnage that follows. They'd be gripping onto the tables with white knuckles.

Hades would be having the time of his life (except for the parts where Yuu cheers for the other gods: read Hermes/Athena), especially during the Underworld saga. Like everyone would be looking at river styx in horror and he'd just be like 'ah home :)'. I bet he'd enjoy God Games as well. He'd definitely be munching on popcorn during Ody's and Athena's argument in My Goodbye.

The muses would be watching everything like WRITE THAT DOWN!

[spoilers] I was gonna write this in the tags but didn't wanna spoil anyone since I do have moots I've successfully annoyed them into playing FFXIV - BUT I just wanted to say, I actually found the Elpis reunion scene to be way more romantic than the solavellan ending. Solavellan is my OTP of all time but I can't help but feel like we were done dirty by Bioware with the crumb we did get.

The zoomed in eye contact with Hades/WOL at the Elpis lobby? When Neath Dark Waters plays again in the background?? DEEPLY ROMANTIC.

FFXIV SPOILERS

I was actually asked right before DA4 came out "which is more romantic, Solavellan or whatever Emet-Selch's deal is" and I said "well, obviously Solas because there's kissing" I think because I was hoping it would have a lot of stuff in DA4 so there WOULD be no comparison

but after everything, I actually change my answer. It's weird to say, but kissing is so good, but there are so many more important things in fictional romance than kissing. Like good and complete and consistent character writing. Getting to know characters to their very core and in extreme situations. Like the amount of time the characters get to spend on the screen. Like truly deep and affecting subtlety that catches your breath and makes you want to scream and cry. Like the characters' actions being loving and not just their words. Like everything coming full-circle. Like not switching protagonists 50% of the way through an unfinished love story, and getting to see the entire love story from one unbroken perspective the entire way through from beginning to end. Like, these are just a few of the important things that are different between the games.

I feel like DAI had all of these, especially the subtlety and the character consistency, but then DA4 came, gave them maybe 5 more minutes of content, and made everything extremely inconsistent. Meanwhile, Endwalker came out, gave you two hours more EmetWol content and elaborated the relationship SO much, revealed many more layers to it, kept things subtle and consistent, and allowed the characters to actually perform loving actions for each other, with very beautiful and subtly sadly romantic lines, and with the added helpfulness of Hythlodaeus making everything as explicit as you possibly could be in an MMO... so comparing DA4 to Endwalker is just almost laughable from a romance standpoint. I think that EmetWol has like... 2x the screen time over the entire story? It's actually extremely nutty. I think it also helps that Emet-Selch has the kind of personality where he would absolutely refuse to be overly romantic on screen, so even if you had him in a BioWare game, his romance would be exactly the same as it would be in the MMO, so you feel like you aren't missing anything. He's just Like That. That's his personality. He HAS to have a subtle romance.

I think it helps make Emet's story feel more romantic because you can view Emet's entire story AS a grand love story, whereas at the end of DA4 you're like "ok so Solas was like not actually motivated by romantic love...? And if he was, it was really love to someone else entirely?" Like Emet is just more consistent, AND they were smart enough to make it feel like it was all just you and nobody else, baby. You are the ghost that haunts his past and present, and you don't have to feel like you aren't important. You're it.

♡ So while the others buzzed around to get his party ready while he was away at work, you did your own thing

♡ The very first thing you did was pick up a custom sleep gown you got for him. You knew he'd love it because it was pink, dramatic, and had a tasteful amount of fluff on the edges of the sleeves and skirt. You also got a pair of babydoll lingerie that matched with it

Angel sprints up the stairs and through the hallways like a desperate man, completely forgetting about his fatigue. "Slow down!" You laugh, but he doesn't listen. No man could've possibly felt as much excitement as he was in that moment.

You're almost blown away he was going so fast, but alas, you catch Angel before he reaches his room and slow him down. He opens the door with a bated breath and coos at the display.

His bed is made as it usually is, but displayed on it is a serving of tiramisu, a plate of chocolate-dipped strawberries, and two pink articles of clothing. Fat Nuggets greets Angel with his usual enthusiasm.

"Baby," Angel whispers, letting of your hand and scooping Nuggets into his arms to look at the array of items closer. For a moment, he stares in awe. He only breaks his ogling when you wrap your arms around him. "All this for little ol' me?" He teases, bringing a hand up to your face.

"Of course," you hum. "Who else, if not my gorgeous boyfriend?" You peck his lips and hand him one of the strawberries. He bites into it with a delighted (and slightly exaggerated) moan, subtly eyeing you, though he could barely keep his eyes open. He wavered where he stood while he finished the strawberry.

Snickering, you come out from behind him, taking Nuggets out of his arms and setting him down and moving his gifts to the small table in one fell swoop. As you are, Angel scoops the tiramisu into his mouth and slides under his mountain of blankets. Almost demanding, he lifts his hoard and slaps the mattress next to him, cheeks puffed as if he was a squirrel. "I'm coming, I'm coming," you hurry yourself under and scoop your boyfriend into your arms.

Angel sighs, melting into your chest the second you make contact. "You're so good t'me," he mumbles. You smile adoringly and rub circles into his back, paying close attention to his more tense areas. It doesn't take long for Angel to fall asleep and begin snoring.

"Goodnight," you kiss his forehead.

I’ve never read the stranger and I’m so curious about the Marie thing because I honestly don’t hear much about the two’s relationship outside of Meursault liking boobs.

RIGHT i was kind of curious because what i knew from friends going into the book was really kind of. the boobs? while it feels like limbus fans have always been REALLY excited about her in the way we were about other "love interest" characters (queequeg who was obviously going to be one of the most important characters in c5, being so defining of ishmael and of the homosexual subtext in moby-dick, and catherine whom we knew since release was at the crux of heathcliff's story as she is in wh) to the point i see her added to so many ship charts as an otp for meursault, so i was wondering if she really had such a cool and interesting dynamic that everyone was looking forward to it so much despite there having been no hint at her even existing. granted i'm excited at the thought of penelope since odypen is an incredibly important part to the odyssey (despite being. very aware there's no way we're getting a canon lesbian marriage 😭) even if nothing has hinted at her either...

so now i finished it and YEAH basically. to spoil an 80 year old novel- yeah the extent to their relationship is that they go to the movies, they go swimming together and they have sex. there is some stray moments where meursault shows a slight interest in her as a person (like wanting to know where she's going when she says she's busy, but then not thinking about asking her, i thought that bit was kind of endearing) and by the end when he's in prison he associates the thought of her to that of freedom, but beside that... 🤷‍♂️? there is no actual "dynamic" the way i expected from seeing people talking about limbus meursault's potential relationship with her.

THE metaphorical level of their relationship is INTERESTING- while i haven't done readings about it yet, i do think basically every character in the book is readable as representing a type of institution and the absurdity and corruption of it, so marie represents a very bleak (but realistic!) look on the institution of marriage and of romantic love at all. meursault has moments where he thinks/learns about a couple other relationships, that of his neighbour salamano with his late wife, and of his mom with her "boyfriend" at the hospice. in both cases the concept that is observed is that humans like to have a companion, especially as they grow older and weaker. salamano didn't care much for his wife, but when she died he felt lonely, so he got a dog instead. similarly, meursault never knew his father, but put his mom in the hospice when he realized they didn't have anything to tell each other- she resented him, but there she made friends and became close with a man. it's a thing all about convenience, in a sense. the relationship with marie too is framed in this context: meursault enjoys spending time with her and enjoys the sex, but anything else isn't relevant to him. his life is defined by the physical experience, the rest is... well, not serious!

as for marie herself, i think she's... and you'll forgive me for being dismissive of a female character-- vapid? i feel like that's the most accurate word sdtgyhufjdkg. it's not her fault, we see her through meursault's eyes, which means her interiority is kind of limited, but i think that is the idea. she is nice, she likes swimming, she smiles a lot, she is vaguely bothered by meursault's behavior and the fact he doesn't really love her or consider her special, but not enough to leave him. i think that too is supposed to be commentary on how love and marriage is something sought after out of a need and convenience more than anything sentimental, because it is considered the way one (especially a woman!) must lead a normal life.

so at the end: i'm genuinely not sure where this idea of marie as one of the "love interest" characters is coming from... but! i'm incredibly curious to see how canto 10 adapts the concepts she's tied to. considering the city doesn't really have like... well i guess the entire patriarchal structure of Marriage And Kids -and in fact we know canonically for some people (like fixers) it's widely considered a bad idea- i am really thinking they might not make her a character at all, unless there's some stuff specific to n corp. that meursault is going to explore. even if they adapted her, her role, like in the book, should be to reflect on meursault's indifference to life, his struggle to connect with the world, because that world IS weird and disconnected, much like he is. a good marie should reflect that as well i think.

on a sillier note. well. very obvious what my ultimate dealbreaker was:

In which I, of all people, make a post in praise of a love triangle

I hate love triangles. I HATE THEM. They never make any sense to me - either it's an OTP and an interloper (in which case it's not a triangle, go away interloper) or I keep going "make up your damn mind" and "why should I be invested in one ship when you aren't."

But Lost You Forever proves that like any other tropes I am not too fond of (slice of life comes to mind), it's not that I hate the trope per se, it's just that it's almost never done in such a fashion as to satisfy me and when it is...oh boy!

Because the love triangle of Xiao Yao with Tushan Jing and Xiang Liu (sorry, Cang Xuan, I love you, and I am rabid about the fact that the ML of this is not the romantic interest, but you are not ever a contender) makes me RABID. The acting, the writing, the possibilities.

In the first season, I never felt that Xiao Yao was in any truly meaningful way considering Xiang Liu as a choice for any length of time (I don't mean it NEVER occurred to her, I just mean it was little flashes that disappeared quickly.) But in this season, she very much does.

Why do I, the obsessed Jing x XY shipper love it so? Because it so makes character sense.

The reason she largely never considered him in s1 was because by the time any such consideration could occur, she already allowed Shiqi in her heart. There are flashes of what-if and the sexual chemistry with XL is off the charts, but she is hopeful and happy with Jing, she's experiences the giddiness of first love and first mutually accepted desire with him. XL is a what-if but a not a particularly longed-for one, if it makes sense.

But in this season, Jing broke her heart (whether she should have that attitude is a separate question of course, but she does and so here we are.) Which means that XY, heartbroken over Jing, has a little space and here is where it all starts coming rushing in vis-a-vis XL.

I love this because this is so so so so human and so realistic. As I was mentioning to @aysekira - despite demanding unrealistic permanent constancy of her loved ones, despite needing them frozen in amber forever, XY herself is not like that because few people are and it's healthy actually and she's healing! (Yes, Jing is not like that but to me that is actually a sign of how broken he is. Separate tangent tho.) And so yes, it's so human to, after a relationship ended, mourn and grieve but also on some level open your heart to other possibilities.

I genuinely believe that if Xiang Liu allowed himself to be with her, she would move on from Jing and be happy and fall in love with XL fully and eventually Jing be merely a memory in the corner of her heart (pleasant or sad, depending.) Just as if/when she and Jing get back together, she will move on about XL and he will be a memory the same way.

And it doesn't cheapen her feelings or their feelings or anything. It's just life. We are the sum of our choices.

I hate hate hate the concept of fated soulmates, of one perfect soulmate destined by fate. That's lazy writing, that's a crutch when you can't narratively show WHY these characters should be together.

And this show gets that. It gets it so well.

She could have been happy with Jing. She could have been happy with XL. Maybe in some other universe she met someone else entirely and was happy with them. Alternatively, if she remained a spoiled and petted princess of Haoling, she'd have never looked at Jing and most likely never looked at XL and they may not have liked her either (look at Nian - you cannot imagine either of the men liking her.)

Just as if Jing was never tortured into near-dissolution of his self by his brother, he would have been a very different person and not capable of winning her heart or caring to, or if XL had a different life, same.

There are so many possibilities and paths and choices and the fact that the drama gets it is one of the best things about it.

We watch Xiao Yao heal and grow up (in a way, she's so emotionally stunted due to trauma, we are watching her going through her teen years in some ways - figuring out who she is and what and who she wants.) And I love that one of the ways she figures out who she wants is by looking at what kind of life she can have with that person.

Anyway, this drama is a MASTERPIECE.

favorite thing about them: Oooh, there are a lot of things I like about Kuroo. I think my favorite thing though would have to be his tendency to take people under his wing and look out for them/help them learn/make sure they’re taking care of themselves/etc. so, not an uncommon trait in Haikyuu, I know, but it’s just so sweet.

least favorite thing about them: Hmmm. I don’t know that I really have one, honestly. Kuroo is just a solid character all around.

favorite line Going to be honest, since it’s been about a year since I watched the first three seasons (and the first half of season 4), I don’t remember very many of Kuroo’s lines. For that reason, and also because I love it when he’s a dork, I’m gonna go with the classic “Oya oya oya”

random headcanon Kuroo eats lunch with Kenma, but he keeps urging Kenma to eat with the other second years in preparation for Kuroo to graduate.

unpopular opinion Compared to the fandom, at least, this is unpopular— I see Kuroo’s dynamic with Kenma as purely platonic. Kenma seems to have anxiety, and Kuroo is his safe person because Kuroo has proved he can be trusted with the title. And from my own experience with that type of friendship, that bond is so close that you tend to consider the other person a sibling. Especially when you’ve known them for over half your life.

Actually.... There used to be more White Lily and Cacao content until there was a massive drama where a Dark Lily shipper threatened heavily on a beloved PureLily shipper and caused A MASSIVE purge of art because of it

First of all, if you wanted to tell me how that conflict actually happened, you needed to attach screenshots. Because listening to your version of those events, and even with an emotional coloring, is absolutely pointless.

Secondly, Purokoii did NOT THREATEN, but helped restore access to Yonyon's account and supported her in that situation, after which she left the fandom and deleted her account. If YOU didn't know. Lima who is still in conflict with Yonyon, is not related to Purokoii in any way. And she is not a popular or mainstream author who makes content for the fanbase. I wouldn't be surprised if this person has nothing to do with our fanbase at all, but simply uses (WITHOUT THE PERMISSION of the AUTHORS, I DARE REMIND YOU) otp pictures to mock Yonyon.

Thirdly. Are you now indirectly trying to shame me for the actions of a stranger? You think I shouldn't make content based on my favorite ship because some person quarreled two fanbases? Or is it because YonYon decided to delete all her work, is it my fault too? I should feel guilty for the actions of a person I don't know? Are you serious now? Should I be ashamed of did you hide your account, realizing that you need to be responsible for your statements?

Maybe I should still be ashamed that I breathe the same air as you? What kind of absurdity are we going to get to?

Fourth. Was there more Cacaolily content before the conflict? Are you kidding me? You can type into the tag search what's on Twitter, what's here, what's in ao3 – there have always been few authors who have developed the fanbase. What's before the conflict, what's after. Literally count on your fingers. The fanbase has never been very popular in the fandom. Purelily has always had more content (AND THIS IS NOT BAD, I OBJECTIVELY UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS SO AND I THINK THIS IS NORMAL), when Cacaolily was drawn most often by regular authors in the fanbase, and rarely when new ones appeared there.

Fifth. I have already written TWO POSTS on this subject, which are publicly available. If you are interested in my point of view, you can find it on my blog and read it. Because my opinion has NOT CHANGED at ALL since writing that post.

Sixth. Since most likely you will not read my post about the conflict, because you did not come here to talk about the conflict, but to throw out your next toxic attack of aggression on me, because I do not want to apologize to you. Therefore, I will repeat myself. In any fanbase, there are asshole fans who, by their behavior, spoil the attitude towards the entire fanbase. They cannot be forced to stop doing this, they cannot be shamed or called to conscience, all that helps is to ignore them and warn newcomers in the fan base in advance not to communicate with them. Most of the fans of ANY FANBASE are ordinary people who enjoy creativity and they don't care what happens behind someone else's fence.

And so amazing coincidences under which you asked this question as soon as I made a reblog of gen-fanart, which features Cacao and Lily (because, I'm artist Cacaolily, and in your opinion I have no right to enjoy any other content, including content where all the ancients are friends and not in a relationship. After all, how dare I enjoy someone else's work and repost it? Is that why you decided to recall the old quarrels again, in which I did not even participate?).

And you don't get tired of remembering the story of a year ago. Weren't those quarrels and negativity against each other enough for you? Do you want to continue to quarrel between two fanbases so that there are no artists left who make art/fic for fans?

I hope this is the last time I will hear such comments for the first time and for the last time I will chew the obvious things.

To the Purelily and Cacaolily fanbase, I want to say one thing - strength and patience, guys. Toxic fans want we fight and quarrel again.

When B is feeling stressed or worn out, A always their child out for a couple of hours to let their partner rest, spoiling them with ice cream and park visits, and vice versa.

Once a week, their child gets to pick what they have for dinner. It can be take-out, a home cooked meal, food from the freezer - whatever they want, and they always pick the same meal.

Your OTP taking their child camping for the first time. They get to do all their favourite activities, like swimming in the ocean and cooking marshmallows over the fire. Perhaps they even get to invite one of their friends from school and their parents to come with them.

B comforts their child after a nightmare. Perhaps they sit up late and watch their favourite show, or B makes them a warm cup of milk to help calm them down again. Maybe they sleep with them in their bed for the rest of the night, or invite them to sleep in bed with A as well. Whatever it takes to put the kid's mind at ease again.

Your OTP take their child to buy clothing for their first day of school. They're excitedly running around the store greeting everyone they see and telling them all about why they're here, with A and B hurrying after them.

Their child has always wanted to go to Disney Land, so your OTP takes them for their birthday and they get to do everything they've ever wanted, including riding a plane for the first time if they're from overseas.

They excitedly celebrate their child losing their first tooth, as well as taking them to the store to spend the money they received from the tooth fairy. They end up spending more than they got, but their parents are more than happy to pay for the rest.

B teaching their child to read. Sitting on the couch with them on their lap, slowly flicking through each page as the kid sounds each word out as best they can. Maybe A is watching from the kitchen/other side of the room, smiling at how wonderful their little family is.

Your OTP cooking with their child, letting them crack the eggs or mix the mixture together. After, they may get to lick the spoon, and they all eat the yummy food together on the couch with a movie playing and a blanket on them all.

That's when Genesis had seemingly picked her up bridal style, from her chair--much to her surprise and blushing embarrassment, and insisted that he was going to be taking care of her tonight no ifs ands or butts about it.

That's when he had brought her first--to her small cramped bathroom. Which consisted of a small bathtub with a shower attachment above it---to which she heard Genesis turn on and soon help her out of her clothes, slipping her top over her head and helping her to unzip her skirt. His touch--it was so gentle, so caring, so kind. He turned on the shower head and told her to sit down in the tub, guiding her with his palm before she was in the tub and the warm water was hitting her hair and back. With her knees to her chest, she let the water rush over her, as Genesis reached for her favorite bottle of body wash and a wash cloth.

She grinned as she felt his careful touch caress over her back, and shoulders. A soft pleased sigh leaving her. "I could get use to this you know." She told him with a small giggle. "You--spoiling me like this. Be sure to wash right behind my ears okay? Don't skimp or I'll have to leave a very displeased review."

day 29 of @hprecfest - a fic rated E

On One's Knees by pir8fancier - E, 34k, 2008

Summary: The war is over and to the victors go the spoils.

Excerpt: "Why are you doing this, Potter?

Standing there with his shoulders slumped forward and his eyes opaque with exhaustion, he looked both very vulnerable and very old.

"General all-purpose saviour complex also applies to former hated classmates cum Death Eaters, apparently. It would make my life a hell of a lot easier if I could just ignore you and let you shift for yourself, but I can't. It's what I do, Malfoy. I need to look myself in the mirror every day. Given the tests I've done, I can't imagine the sort of pain you go through just to walk to the loo, never mind working like you do. You don't have any cartilage left in your goddamned knees. You hear me?"

He had shouted that last part, as if he was trying to convince me. He clenched his eyes shut and when he opened them, he'd regained some semblance of control. "Ron thinks you deserve it. I'm not sure how I feel, but I do know that I'm too bone weary to get any enjoyment out of your suffering, and you're too desperate to turn down my help. I think that says it all in a nutshell."

I reached for his outstretched hand.

Written not long after the series' end, and set a few years post-war, this fic is a beautifully packaged punch to the gut. Down-and-out Draco has to hit just right for it to work for me, and boy does the author manage it here. Draco's the night cleaner at the Prophet's offices, and Harry's the Healer who's sent to patch him up when he takes a fall at work, but who realises that Draco's body (and his life) are in altogether a pretty poor shape. Harry takes him in (while his wife Ginny's away) and learns about his life. Draco's prickly and cross with the world, but the two of them grow slowly closer, all the while knowing that things between them necessarily have an end date. It's painful, but really really beautiful, and thank goodness the author gave them an added extra happy ending because I think without that my heart wouldn't have recovered!

The Sakamaki Mansion. . . .

Angelica was sitting in a comfy chair while a maid poured her a cup of tea. The pregnant woman gave the maid a soft 'thanks' as she accepted the porcelain tea cup. The tea itself had such a lovely aroma, and it made the pink haired woman smile with. It wasn't necessarily the tea itself that made her smile, it was in fact that she was finally able to have some time for herself without Karlheinz practically looming over her shoulder.

She couldn't be too annoyed with him though, as Angelica knew that her husband was concerned for both her and their baby. The unborn babe was going to be the heir to the Vampire Clan after all.

But as much as she loved seeing this from her husband, Angelica did have a limit for how much Karlheinz seemed to be smothering her when he was off duty. Again, she loved it, but she needed her space every once in a while.

As soon as she took a sip of her tea, Angelica let out a positive sigh. "Is the tea to your liking, my lady?" the maid asked. "It is. Thank you for making this for me." Angelica answered.

"It was nothing. How's the baby? Do you think that today's the day?"

Angelica looked at her pregnant belly. It had been nine months already, but so far there were no signs of the baby coming out. While Angelica had no issue with it, the baby comes whenever they want after all, Karlheinz and some of her family members were impatient. Angelica could understand them though. After all, her family was getting a new addition for them to love and spoil, and the baby was also the future ruler of the Vampire Clan.

Because of this, Angelica and her unborn baby's safety was taken extremely seriously. Karlheinz had even went as far as to hire a poison taster to check if any of Angelica's food and drinks were laced with a drug that could harm her and the baby's health, who just so happened to be the maid that was with her right now.

As soon as she finished her tea, Angelica stood up from her chair and was going to go back into the mansion for some light reading, when she felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.

"!"

"My lady, is something wrong?" the maid asked. "I. . . .I don't know." Angelica said. "I felt this-" The silver eyed woman nearly let out a yell when the pain became more intense, and when she felt a strange wetness between her legs, Angelica immediately knew what was going on.

"My lady? What is it?"

"I'm afraid that my water broke."

The maid's facial expression changed from one of confusion to great worry immediately.

"Shit."

Karlheinz's Office. . . .

The Vampire King let out a sigh as he finished the final piece of paperwork that was on his desk. What it was for, he had forgotten hours ago. But he didn't care about that.

All he wanted right now was to go be with Angelica and spend time with her. Especially with the baby on the way. There'd be little time he could spend with Angelica when their son arrives.

Why does he assume the baby will be a boy? Karlheinz just had a hunch that it would be, is all.

A smile appeared on Karlheinz's face when he put the last signature on the piece of paper before him. 'Finally finished.' he thought to himself. As soon as he put his fountain pen away, Christa, (who was followed by the head butler) slammed the door open, nearly startling him.

"Christa! You know that I have established rules for-"

"Karl! You have to hurry! It's Angie!" Christa exclaimed, who herself was nearly on the verge of tears. "S-She's. . . .she's-"

"What? What is it?" Karlheinz asked, his annoyance from earlier now gone. "Is she alright?" Though with the way Christa struggled to communicate while teary eyed, it was likely his annoyance could return.

"Her water broke! And now she's in labor!" Christa revealed.

"!"

"B-But something's wrong! The butler, h-he said. . . .that-" "What is it?! Spit it out!" Karlheinz almost shouted, making Christa flinch.

"W-What Lady Christa is trying to say is that Lady Angelica's labor appears to unfortunately be. . . .rather difficult for her." the butler revealed.

". . . .What?"

"We must make haste!" The butler said as he led Karlheinz and Christa out of the Vampire King's office. "The doctor and the nurses claim that she needs you right away!"

Karlheinz had been told by others that the day his son would arrive would be a joyous one. That he and Angelica, or whoever would have given birth to his heir first, would have him cry tears of joy.

That was not the case.

He paid no attention to what the doctor and nurses were saying.

He paid no attention to Cordelia and Richter's momentarily shocked faces and hushed whispers.

He paid no attention to Beatrix trying to keep her composure.

He paid no attention to how Christa was on her knees, sobbing as the maids tried to comfort her.

All that Karlheinz could focus on was what was in the blonde maid's (Angelica's taste tester) hands: the once pristine white sheets that were covered in blood.

Angelica's body felt completely weak from the ordeal she went through for what felt like hours. She so desperately wanted to hold her baby, but the doctor had the nurses take the baby away while he took care of her.

After that, she blacked out. She did hear some of the others, such as Richter and the other wives outside of the door, but what exactly they were saying was unclear to her. But it didn't matter to her. All Angelica wanted was to see her baby and introduce Karlheinz to their child.

But her attention drifted elsewhere when she heard a faint voice calling her name.

"-ca? Angelica my dear, are you awake?"

The pink haired woman slowly opened her eyes to see that it was Karlheinz, who seemed to have changed from his usual attire and into something more casual, such as a simple white shirt and black pants. In his arms was a bundled up blanket that was the color of the egg of a robin, a baby who was whimpering and making grabbing motions with his chubby hands.

"Karl. . . .is that. . . .?" Angelica asked, her voice quiet and slightly sore from the screaming from the birthing process. "It is. It's our son, Angelica. And I believe that he wants to meet his mother." Karlheinz handed their newborn son to Angelica, who gently took him in her arms.

The baby was a bit smaller than she expected, and his face was a bit red due to his intense crying that happened shortly after he was born, as he was desperately gasping for air. Though it was a bit hard for her to tell, Angelica noticed that his little wisps of hair were the same light pink color as hers.

Tears welled up in the corner of Angelica eyes as she smiled at her son. "Oh Karl, he's gorgeous!" she said softly, as their son began to calm down and stop fussing.

"Isn't he?" Karlheinz said. "Though I can't say that I'm surprised. After all, just look at his parents."

Angelica couldn't help but smile and let out a soft laugh. "Karl. . . ."

"What? I can't say something nice about our baby?"

"You can! It's just-"

The baby let out a whine, interrupting his mother.

"He's probably hungry," Karlheinz said as he got off of Angelica's bed. "I'll give you some privacy." "Karl, you don't have to go." Angelica said as she began the process of nursing her baby, which did in fact seem to be what he wanted.

"It's fine, pet." he said as he got to the door. "Besides, I think it's appropriate for you to get to spend some time with Akira."

"?" Angelica blinked in surprise. "What?"

"After all, I did everything that the doctor said that was required for a father to bond with his child. And I think that-"

"Not that." Angelica said. "Akira. . . .you gave him the name I picked." "And this is a surprise to you?" "It's just that. . . .I thought that you would have named him after you and RIchter's father."

Karlheinz looked back at his wife and gave her what was probably the softest and most genuine smile she had ever seen. "It's simple, pet. It was my favorite of the names we discussed, and I thought it was fitting for a king."

By the time Angelica and Akira slept, Karlheinz had ordered for the amount of guards protecting their bedroom to be doubled, getting new locks, hiding a weapon (a pistol) under his pillow, and the golden eyed vampire even convinced his wife to have Akira sleep in their room for the night, which didn't take much to get her to agree to.

He didn't care if it seemed excessive, he'd do anything to keep the two safe and by his side. Besides, it was perhaps the most tame thing that he's done today.

It happened when he saw Angelica's motionless body in the delivery room, and something in him snapped when he heard that the baby that Angelica oh so longed for never cried when born.

And so, he did what he had to: he reversed it all until he got the correct version of events that he wanted. Karlheinz did it up to around seventeen times until he got what he desired, a scene before him where both mother and child survived and were healthy.

A part of him even thought it was funny when the others (especially Richter and Cordelia's) had the most confused expressions on their faces when Karlheinz left his office early and attended to his wife's delivery himself instead of waiting for the doctor's arrival.

Karlheinz was immediately brought back to the present when he heard his son stirring from his sleep. He moved swiftly from his and Angelica's bed and to Akira's crib to pick up the baby.

"There there, it's ok." Karlheinz muttered, rocking Akira back and forth softly. "Normally I'd say it's unbecoming of a king to cry, but after today? I suppose it's well deserved."

It's done, the final short story for the Angel's Embrace AU for this year! Hopefully I'll be able to write for 2025. Also, sorry that this one turned out to be so dark. This is the first time that I've written something like this, and I did my best to be as respectful as possible with subject matter like this.

If there's anything that you think needs some editing, let me know.

The biggest thing that has turned me away from comics is the new generation of fans. Unfortunately a lot of people have come from other media like cartoon and films, which isn’t a problem if they genuinely want to get into the comics but most I’ve seen cherry pick based on ch ships and then get really loud about it when what they’ve created in fanon isn’t in canon. This wouldn’t matter so much if it hadn’t started influencing the canon writing but it has, which is mu and writers fault obviously but it all stems from the new fans.

Comics are dark and gritty (marvel/dc/the boys etc) thats the point. Purity culture is killing the comics by trying to erase dark media from franchizes that were built from dark themes. If you can’t stomach this then comics aren’t for you, stick to the cartoons and films instead of becoming an overwhelming majority that spoils it for the actual comic fans by pressuring writers/directors to change it for your views. What happened to don’t like don’t read or don’t like don’t watch? Also for those people, which seem to be a lot of them in the last 5-10yrs who only have an interest in ch for the ships, comics aren’t for you. If you don’t understand that relationships in the comic universe have to change every now and then you shouldn’t be including yourself in the comic fandom. Comics rotate to keep it interesting, new au’s and canon ships are essential to keeping the franchize and stories alive, please stop abusing creators for wanting to explore new things for these characters. The same thing over and over again gets boring and stale, it puts people off of ships and characters. Relationships break up, change, come back, break up again. Marriages don’t last and that’s a good thing. It shows different sides to the characters and gives storylines creative freedom. That’s how comics work. Your otp and endgame doesn’t give you the right to harass creators and other fans when those otp’s aren’t liked or are having a canon shakeup, that’s just how things go. The entitlement some fans have is outrageous, it’s very obvious to see who is a fan of the ship rather than the characters and media and who is a comic fan. More and more comic fans are being pushed out of fandom and even abandoning the franchize so they don’t have to deal with the interlopers who know nothing yet have the most to say. It’s not right. It’s also a big reason as to why old comic storylines are coming back, they’re POPULAR because that was written at a time when comic fans knew how to behave and enjoy a ch and story without being unhinged if it doesn’t have their fav ship etc involved. New comics just don’t cut it, they’re aimed at the new fans who have no genuine interest and only like it for a ship or pretty art rather than the actual story. Also hyping up writers who don’t actually know what they’re doing because they’re fans of your otp isn’t it either, writers should have respect for the individual characters they writer for as well as a decent story. You’re bigging up bullies and people who simply shouldn’t be in that line of business for a fictional ship? Wild.

As they say; if you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. Comics aren’t for you if you can’t cope with dark themes and canon changes, stop ruining it for everyone else.

I loved so much that he was able to come back because the woman who always believed in moving on and not remembering the dead was not able to move on from him and kept her memory and her love and a body for him to return to.

I have already posted about the blissful ep + stuff post their reunion so I won't any more, and will just say that I am so happy his happy ending is to be a doting malewife, a spoiled concubine, an amused mischief stirrer and gossip consumer, a content gardener, and the oldest dad in the supernatural PTA with no universe saving duties or responsibilities towards anyone or anything outside his little family.

My favorite cdrama of the year for me so far (tied with Eternal Brotherhood) and my favorite 2024 OTP.

Thank you for this drama, drama gods! It really was perfect and an insanely faithful novel adaptation to boot.
